I know I can edit, but I think it's easier to post a new version then making the GM follow a link back to my edited bio. I might as well just post the update, especially if it's moved to a new page.
GodName: Reon
Title(s): Goddess of Lilies, Goddess of the Sun
Seat of Power: Iliogis
Divine Aspects: The Sun, Fire.
Appearance:
And done.Artifacts: The Spear and Shield of the Sun. Both fairly ordinary in appearance, the Spear can be imbued with the intensity and heat of the sun itself(an exaggeration, but it becomes bright and on fire), allowing it to burn through foes before her if required. The Shield, however, retains a rather unique function: It is clear, acting as a magnifying glass and allowing heat and light to be channeled through it.
Unique abilities: Reon is completely and utterly immune to heat and fire, it cannot damage her in any way. This of course makes perfect sense given her domain as a goddess. Even the most intense fire would feel like a pleasant, warm day to Reon. She can also manipulate and create fire on a large scale, spawning balls of flame in the palm of her hand or pulling it from already-burning sources, directing it with her will. She can even use it as armor by igniting her body.
Personal History: Reon awakened upon a stone warmed by the sun, deep in the territory of the Amazons in Iliogis. Little did she know, however, that this was no simple stone. It was a sacred place for the female warriors, a stone pointed towards the rising sun, kept warm by its rays. When they discovered her there, groggy from her long sleep and confused in her bleariness, they were naturally quite perplexed. However, as her mind caught up to her situation, Reon rose and proclaimed her nature as the Goddess of the Sun. Naturally, the Amazons were initially disbelieving of her claim. And so Reon decided to prove it. From the nearby torch, she pulled the flames and manipulated them with ease. This proved her to be just who she claimed to be, the Sun Goddess Reon. The Amazons quickly accepted her and she took her role as their deity, accepting sacrifices of lilies(and requesting gardens of the flowers to be planted). Temples of Reon have been created, Priestesses clad in red robes worshipping the goddess and creating alters from glowing stone. Reon does her best to visit these temples, but even for a Goddess it's rather difficult to visit all of them. She does her best to guide her followers at all times, from peace to war.
Personality: Reon is, in a word, temperamental. It would be very easy to describe her personality as fiery. She is quick to anger and prone to jealousy and irritation with others, disparaging them for the foolishness she perceives and loudly declaring how she feels they are quite simply rather stupid. She is prone to insulting others without any hesitation whatsoever, even if they are those she is allied with. Even if it's those that she cares for, she will still freely insult them. This is really her way of attempting to steer them from behaviors she feels could result in them being harmed. Reon cares deeply for her followers and wishes to lead them to victory, even if she shows it in a rather indirect manner given her temperamental nature. Reon's favored symbol is the lily, the flower proving to be her favored plant above all others.
Other: The worship of Reon features the sacrifice of lilies.
Nation:
Name: Iliogis
Location: Iliogis is located in the warmer regions of the South. While not tropical, it possesses a warm and pleasant climate. The lands of Iliogis are fertile and it is bordered to the east by the sea, allowing for a healthy fishing industry.
Government: Iliogis is run by a democratically-elected council of Amazons. Elections are held every five years, and the Council regularly meets in the Grand Sun Hall in Iliogisan capital of Ilioevnoipolis. Reon herself attends these council meetings but is not a member, instead making guiding suggestions for her people. She does have the right to give her input and guidance, which is deeply trusted and followed by the council, but she is not officially a member.
Dominant race: Amazons. A race of entirely female near-humans. Completely indistinguishable from humanity in terms of physical appearances, Amazons are all uniformly female. They can vary greatly in appearance, just as many humans do, from small and petite to taller and more muscular, and everywhere in between and all around. However, even the smallest and most slender Amazon possesses strength far greater then a grown human male, capable of easily outdoing a human man in hand-to-hand combat. They are frequently trained in some form of combat, even Amazons who specialize in fishing or farming know some level of martial arts if nothing else. Even the seemingly-peaceful Priestesses of Reon are at least somewhat skilled in a fight. In the absolute worst case scenario, the entire adult population of Amazons can be mobilized to defend Iliogis from attack. This is a fact that they take great pride in. In terms of appearances, Amazons can have a variety of hair colors, the most common being blonde, brown, and black. Their skintone varies with their location and how much time an individual spends out in the sun, from fair to a deep tan. Amazonian culture puts great value on bonds between Amazons, and on the sun. They feel the sun is responsible for much of their food, for the warm climate they enjoy... so much of it relies on the sun. Amazons are of average magical talent, occasionally producing exceptional magi, and are also remarkably capable metalworkers. However, their metalworking still pales in comparison to dwarven smiths. They are frequently talented hunters as well. Amazons have a long lifespan, staying youthful and fit for almost their entire lives.
Other races: Other races found in Iliogis, or at least near to it, include...
Mermaids: Mermaids are an all-female aquatic race, possessing a fish tail in place of legs. They can breath on land and in water, but they have no easy method of moving outside of the water. Their upper body, and a hidden portion of their lower body, resembles a human body with the exception of their ears, which are larger, and webbed. Their lower body has a "sheath" that extends up and works, oddly, almost like pants, naturally covering embarrassing locations unless pulled down. Below this portion, they have a fish-like tail they use to move about underwater. Mermaids are skilled fishers. As they lack any males in their race, they are capable of reproducing with males of other races. The offspring are always mermaids, and as mermaids are always female, so are the offspring.Nem: Nem are largely human in appearance. However, there are some important differences. All Nem have black hair, and their eyes are usually red or yellow. In addition, Nem never reach heights beyond 4'0, 3'5 to 3'7 being the average for an adult. They are usually slender, and all Nem are also very, very pale. Nem are best-suited for activity at night, having excellent night vision, and exist as a primarily nocturnal race. Though some nem do venture out during the day, they require outfits that cover their skin to keep it from burning in the sun. Nem are rather physically fragile in comparison to other races. However, they are quite fast. Nem have a notoriously low alcohol tolerance, due to their small size. They dwell in he more arid regions of Iliogis, to the southwest. They often venture into Amazonian cities for trade.Harpies: Another uniquely all-female race, harpies dwell in the more mountainous inland regions of Iliogis. Harpies look like female humans, with the exception of the lower legs, and the arms. In place of them are avian limbs, including robust wings allowing for competent flight. Their talons are dexterous and capable of manipulating objects, but they lack hands which limits some of their abilities. They have an excellent relationship with the Amazons, acting as an airforce for the ground-bound warriors in times of warfare.Wild Flora/fauna: Notable forms of wildlife in Iliogis include the horse-variants, pegasi and unicorns. Flying horses and horses baring a single, sharp horn respectively. Both are tamed as mounts by the Amazons. These are not the only animals in Iliogis, of course. The land features many animals, such as deer, bears, and other more conventional wildlife. However, the most dangerous the the wild creatures native to Iliogis is the fearsome Kaiser Lizard. Massive reptile-like predators with huge, strong jaws, long, muscular legs, and small, two-fingered hands, they are an extremely dangerous creature. Thankfully, they are also quite rare.
Specialization: Hunting, Fishing, and Warfare
National History: It is believed that Amazons were originally human settlers of Iliogis, long, long ago. It is not entirely clear how they came to be in their current state, as records are rather scattered even for the Amazons themselves. Many Amazonian historians have attempted to delve into this at one point or another, but failed to secure any useful information. However, there are many records after the emergence of the Amazons as a people. In the beginning, they were rather scattered, various towns headed by a single elder. They came into contact with the other native people of Iliogis, the harpies, the nem, and even the mermaids for the Amazons dwelling on the coast. Contact between these races varied, though for the most part it was positive. Still, there were occasional skirmishes and even battles, mostly between the Amazons rather than between the different races. As time wore on, however, they began to realize how much they shared in terms of beliefs. For all Amazons held great value in the bonds between one another, and the Sun. This lead them to a simple conclusion: At one point, the Amazons had been one people. It made perfect sense among them, their beliefs, the fact that all of them were female, all of it. This began the Great Unification, the diplomatic meeting between all the Amazonian communities. They became united as a race, working as a whole. The system of Elders as a government was abolished, and replaced with a council of elected representatives. They were stationed in the largest of the Amazons' towns, Prasikoila, until the construction of the coastal capital Ilioevnoipolis was completed. Even prior to the arrival of Reon, the Amazons had a strong belief in a sun goddess. And after her arrival and the proof of her nature, there was little hesitation in worshipping her. Cathedrals, elegant structures dedicated to the goddess, now dot the land of Iliogis. Even belief in a moon goddess by the Nem has been assimilated into Reon worship.
Alliances: TBA(decided in thread and RP)
Enemies: TBA(the same)
Notable People:
Tanya Palayen, the champion of Reon. A paladin serving Reon with dedication for her entire life, at the young age of eighteen Tanya was chosen as Reon's champion. Clad in heavy armor, enchanted to be light on her small form, and wielding a sword and a hammer bathed in divine fire, Tanya is equipped to deal with the enemies of Iliogis. She is especially effective against undead. Much like her goddess, Tanya is rather temperamental and easily-irritated.Meles Nalae, the High Priestess of the Church of Reon. Meles is the religious leader(well, below Reon herself at least) of Iliogis, or at least of the Amazons. She is clad in a crimson outfit, flowing robes covered in symbols representing lilies. She serves to assist Reon in guiding the people and conveying her messages, as well as helping to organize a system of worship. Her personality is somewhat deceiving, as she appears rather good-natured and lackadaisical. However, she is highly intelligent and well-educated in reality, which helps to temper Reon's attitude. The Council of the Amazons, composed of thirty elected representatives, is the governing body for the Amazons in Iliogis. Taking advisement from Reon, they form various policies and political decisions as a group, guiding the Amazons in the ways they feel are best for the people. Naturally, policies must be voted on for it to reach council judgement, and the council themselves must make their decision on it from there. The council is elected every five years.Other: N/A
