This is a new thread for the roleplay formerly(Rather originally, I might add) known as Fire Emblem RP. Due to some complications with the original GM abandoning the interest check and then myself being selected as the new GM, I had no control over the opening post of the OOC and thus this one was created to allow for a more clean and organized introductory post.

Without further ado, here's the information that is required to join this RP

Backstory(Always Evolving):
Kayech Del Vinsenia took the throne of Vinsenia about five months ago when he was able to make the Blade of Kings glow. Since then he has marched on every other nation in the Vale, annexing them one after another. Caldegia was the first to fall, giving much-needed flying support to the slow-moving knights and archers of Vinsenia. Next to fall was Del Monray, followed by the Free State of Del Monray that had split off in a civil war a generation or two ago. Now the Vinsenian forces march on Belinni, the last free nation of the Vale. The border town of Charten, on the edge of Belinni, has hired the Carthul Mercenaries as added protection. Bandit activity has been on the rise lately in Belinni, as the Vinsenian army's sweeping march under the direct command of General Issac flushes them out of their old hideouts in the mountains.

Information for Character Creation:

List of Nations(Update in Progress):
Vinsenia: Originally one of five smaller than average countries located in in close proximity of each other, all of them in a very mountainous region of the near the mid west of the continent. It is located in an area especially rich with metals, mostly iron and silver, which are used to arm the exceptionally defensive forces that are stationed in the forts and castle that mark the edges of Vinsenian territory. Most of the working class are merchants and metalworkers, importing much of their foodstuff from their more agricultural neighbors. Until recently, the kingdom had almost no impact in any of the continent's affairs.
Vinsenia's army usually consisted of a large array of heavily armored infantry and archers, with horses being rather useless in the mountains. Spellcasters like mages were considered a rarity and usually were kept in the king's personal guard. Healers, however, while uncommon, were deployed with the standing army.
However, with the ascent of the new king and the absorption of the surrounding nations, the new army has swelled immensely. The largest part and standing force are still the heavy infantry and archers, but the acquisition of new commanders and forces have added a large number of horsemen(Mostly Cavaliers->Great Knights), quite a few fliers(with the vast majority being Wyvern riders), and quite a few addtional forces from various sources(Mages, Fighters, Mercenaries, and Myrmidons)
The usual emblem of a Vinsenian force is a stylized dragon coiling around a sword that points down, painted in white on black.

Other information about Vinsenia: Silver Dragon Knights are an elite unit of the heavy infantry.
The dragon motif is most likely due to the rumor that manaketes or Dragon Laguz once made their home in the mountains.
One of the only two countries in the mountains that holds a legendary item(That is known publicly): The Blade of Kings.

Other Nation Information:
Countries in the "Vale" of the Old Mountains(The group of five countries that populate the mountains where Vinsenia lies)((This place is also hella rainy, being close to both the coast and high in the mountains))
-Vinsenia, rich with metal and defensive units, like knights and archers, has the new king that's conquering the rest of the Vale
-Caldegia, a hilly land in the mountains that uses fliers as it's main troops, is both neighbors with Vinsenia and was the first country to fall to the conquest of the Vinenian king
-Del Monray, a country that just lost have its lands during a civil war fifty years in the past, holds the royal family and the legendary item of the Del Monrays. Conquered by the Vinsenians
-The Free State of Del Monray, the other half of Del Monray, ruled by a noble family. Conquered by the the Vinsenians.
-Belinni, the state that holds the entrance to the Old Mountains. Where the mercs have been hired, A land rich with horses and calvery, also the richest land in the Vale. Is the trade center of the Old Mountains, and where most of the food and cargo comes from. Being marched on by the Vinsenian army and fleeing soliders

Countries outside the Vale:
-Galemoor, to the south, a large state that borders the ocean, complete with a stupendous amount of sailors and fishermen. Usually armed to the teeth and fast talkers, with the military being made up of a combination of cavalry and reformed bandits.
-Del Stalliga, to the south. A city-state in the style of the countries inside the Vale, the small country is located between the giant Stugmarr and Galemoor, providing a buffer between the two that is welcomed by many. Uses light cavalry as a mainstay of the troops.
-Stugmarr, to the south-east, a giant country that has been present since the Vale's founding. Is in a constant cold war with The Empire of Rak'Thurr
-Fellhark, to the north. A harsh and rainy land that covers the cliffs to the north of the Vale, filled with the barest minimum of a goverment and controlled by a variety of hardy tribes.
-The Empire of Rak'Thurr, to the north-east. Another giant that controls the rich plains above the Vale, is in a constant cold war with Stugmarr. Is exceptionally racist against anything that isn't Beorc.

OMG. I love the fact that Hark gets referred to as: "The manly former vinsenian knight." For some reason that put a huge smile on my face. In any case, how do we plan on going about the IC posts from before?

I don't know if we really have to do anything about the previous IC posts. We can just keep going from where we left off. If it's really important for newcomers or something then I guess everything can just be copied over quickly in a couple of posts.

Nsran Family :
Race: Branded - Laguz Wolf
Sex: Male
Gender Identity: Heterosexual
General Appearance: About 6'1" in stature, they are lean naturally but their bodies have developed into slight differences because of their fighting styles. Lasair and Nialas remain muscular and thin, Sammael is thin but just toned, Helath is built much more muscular than his brothers with a thicker frame.
Bio: Unlike most tribes of both other races the Wolf tribes are forgiving, if not ecstatic, about hybrid species. The Nsran is one of royalty, albeit a lower ranked den. The rules of this den is fairly free, as they've no need for moving up or down in the hierarchy. Lasair, Nialas, Sammael and Helath were all born of the second of 3 litters, coming out in that order. Because of odd circumstance with the first litter leaving and renouncing their claim Lasair was first in line to succeed his Laguz mother and Beorc father. He became the most outgoing of the four, showered with attention. Nialas, second in line, was a more calm and studious pup, an active and happy child. The two eldest were given a lot of lessons by their father. Helath, the youngest, was the most coddled and protected by his mother. Sammael, however, being a middle child and third in line, did not receive much attention from either. Learning from tales of the Sacean tribe, the Wolves based many of their human teachings in similar manners. Lasair learned to use a sword in an uncharacteristic fashion compared to most royals. Not a rapier, but blades styled in the form of the myrmidon. Nialas, a bright fighter who was taught the advantages of distance from multiple opponents, learned to wield a lance in light armor, becoming a fast a critical striker. Sammael took to hunting and trapping, learning how to use the bow as an extension of himself as he sat in nature. Although Sammael was a silent marksman, Helath picked up the axe young and combined it with his youthful, wild nature. The brothers were close and found no reason to fight for what they didn't want. When their mother had a third, smaller litter, and they were grown enough to begin learning the ways of politics, the four went off as a band to travel and be emissaries for their homeland, Avenon. This small country, the farthest north near and in the mountain range of the continent, had a unique army that included a fair number of magic users, laguz, and the more wild fighters of corsairs and mercenaries. As they traveled the land and honed their skills they learned of the growing conflicts. Bearing a silver pauldron of their army's insignia, the Winter Wolves, they have been trekking through the terrain to find a way to prevent their homeland, its resources, and its treasure, from falling into harms way.
Weakness: All brothers have a deep bond that affects all of them. If one is in true danger, all others may drop whatever they are doing to come to one's rescue.

Name: Lasair
Class: Rogue
Age: 50 (Appears 25)
Appearance:
Equipment: Slim Sword, Levin Sword, Steel Blade, Mine,
Personality: He fits the name "Lovable Rogue" very well. He is naturally charismatic and almost always in a positive mood. Positive doesn't always mean cheerful, however. It is just his outlook that everything is always destined to work out for them, as it usually does. Flirtatious with women and danger alike.
Likes/Dislikes: Likes smoking (anything), drinking (anything), a good fight, warm weather, loose pockets. Dislikes indecision, cool weather, and porridge.
Strengths/Weakness: While he is deadly on the field, he is even moreso during a barter. His natural charisma and magnetism make him stand out. This hurts on the battlefield when he becomes the main target of attacks. He does not think out strategies in battle so he can find himself in a four on one battle within a few moments. He will also fight/brawl with women if push comes to shove, which can start hysteria in the wrong crowds.
Other:
Name: Nialas
Class: Lancer
Age: 50
Appearance:
Equipment: Light Rune, Spear, Javelin,
Personality: Calm, Cool, and Collected. While Lasair's magnetism is his secret weapon, Nialas has his intellect. He is a pleasant man to speak with about anything, but is introverted by nature. He rarely seeks out conversations or large gatherings, preferring to read with a damp cloth on his head for relaxation. His manners are perfect in front of anyone except his brothers and his most trusted friends. Expect a great deal of "Sire"'s and "Madame"'s from him.
Likes/Dislikes: Likes one on one conversations, observing the world around him, swimming, reading, the full moon nights, Tai Chi. Dislikes interruptions during his readings, large groups depending on the occasion, and being the center of attention.
Strengths/Weakness: Above average intellegince plus a high level of curiosity can bode both ways. His ability to poke and prod may take a situation to an unfortunate outcome, although much can be learned from his methods. His fighting style usually keeps his opponents at a fair distance. If his opponents are too close he looses the critical hits he developed with his fighting. His weapons are large so he does not carry too many at once unless they have a mule, limiting his weapon options.
Other: Is a natural at hunting in bodies of water with his lances.
Name: Sammael
Class: Archer
Age: 50 (Appears 25)
Appearance:
Equipment: Steel Longbow, Short Bow, Mine
Personality:The brooder. He can often be found away from others except those that understand the world around them. Not in the scientific way of Nialas, but a more natural, even spiritual, understanding of cause and effect in nature. He enjoys the predatory thrill of the hunt, similar to a lone hawk. He prefers to use his senses to read people and situations. Changes of tone or stances. Considering Laguz, Beorc, and all other creatures equal, he will rarely pull his punches with people. "After all, if I would kill a buck to feed my family, why wouldn't I kill a thug for his valuables?"
Likes/Dislikes:Likes: Animals, high perches, fair and natural scents, like a bears pelt or wild flowers. Dislikes: Places without heights, people with superiority complexes, racial/species hate, animal abuse.
Strengths/Weakness: He is a silent killer with an ability to easily climb and fire from above. He can also read people and their actions quite easily, plus can survive alone in the wilderness without any shelter or protection. Unfortunately, he is fairly antisocial from his time as a middle, and fairly ignored, child, and is abrasive with people, especially of those who put themselves higher above anyone else. If he focuses too long on a single direction or target he can lose some focus on the rest of his view.
Other:
Name:Helath
Class: Barbarian
Age: 50 (Appears 25)
Appearance:
Equipment: Iron Axe, Swordreaver, Hand Axe,
Personality: Almost in the opposite fashion of Sammael, Helath enjoys the company of others and is accepting of most people on the spot. Lasair may be the one that people are attracted to, but Helath's outgoing nature for those around him. A little klutsy, he wants people to like him and his family despite their dysfunctional ways. Like he was mothered as a child, so he does onto his brothers. He checks on them frequently, so he has the best connection to all three of them. He understands Sammaels views, Lasairs ideals of freedom and even enjoys reading sessions with Nialas. His own fighting style changes from smart to overpowering to evasive.
Likes/Dislikes: Likes quality time with his family, sweets, long runs, well cooked meals, really terrible jokes. Dislikes burnt meat, taking potions or vulenaries, and his brothers in serious fights.
Strengths/Weakness: He packs more variety when it comes to battles as he is the jack of all trades of his family. This also makes him a master of none, plus with his aversion to vulenaries and trap tactics that his other brothers have, healers or a good nap are his only ways to recover.

So, I'm interested, but I could use a few more details about the other nations. Namely, which ones do Mages more commonly hail from. Planning to create a Shaman/Dark Mage so info about where those specific individuals usually come from would be much appreciated.

Mages, at least in the Vale, come from Caldegia in the overwhelming majority of cases. This is true in the case of Dark Mages, Mages, Monks, and Clerics, and nearly all of their promotion trees. As Caldegia's population is a nearly ridiculous 40% magical, they have a near-monopoly on the higher learning for such classes, and few mages ever leave the relative safety of the mountainous country. However, for the scarce few mages outside of Caldegia's control, Vinsenia has a small fraction of the Dark Mages and Clerics, with exceptionally rare cases of the other magics, while Del Monray and the Free State of Del Monray hold mostly Mages. Belinni, however, has mostly Troubadours and Monks.

Name: Kristoph Thane

Race: Beorc

Sex: Male

Class: Grandmaster

Gender Identity: Heterosexual

Age: 41

Appearance:

Equipment: Iron Sword, Silver Sword, Fire Tome, Wind Tome

Personality: If one could only use one word to describe Kristoph accurately, it would be "determined". That's what the grizzled tactician is: determined, near to the point of obsession. When not directing a battle, he remains in isolation in a state of near constant thought and planning for the next battle. Either that or drinking himself into a rage, sometimes both even. The source of this behavior is largely kept private, known only by his son Simon, and even he is reluctant to speak about it at times. Despite his often questionable obsession with winning battles and his occasional raging benders, Kristoph is still a Tactician, and a damn good one at that.

Bio: Kristoph originally hailed from Caldegia, years before the invasion. There he honed his skill with a sword, and later his knowledge of Anima magic in a unique, yet somehow perfect balance. But that wasn't his true talent, for there lied his ability to predict enemy formations and quickly respond in kind. The more skirmishes and battles he participated in, the cleverer his plans and strategies became, once even devising a daring strategy that would later be famously known as the "Shadow Army", which involved deceiving the enemy into believing that they faced an army larger than their own. Through his career, Kristoph courted and married Talia, a Pegasus Knight within the Caldegian Regulars. Together they had two children, a son (Simon) and daughter (Maya) who each enlisted in the Regulars when they came of age, Maya joining her mother in the Pegasus Squadron and Simon fighting alongside his father in the ground forces. With Maya's addition, Talia and her sister Mia could now complete and execute the famed Triangle Attack Formation. This, combined with Simon's prodigy-like skill with a sword and the clever Kristoph leading the ground forces made Caldegia a formidable force on the battlefield. And then, everything changed when Vinsenia invaded.

In the beginning, Caldegia held its own rather impressively. After all, Kristoph could plainly see the blatant arrogance of the Vinsenian General leading the assault and easily used that against him, using the Triangle Formation to launch hit-and-run strikes to lure him into advancing his troops into well laden traps and ambushes. Victories came like clockwork, and with them the renown of the Thane family also quickly rose. It seemed victory was an inevitability, at least until a new general took over the invasion force. This general was nothing like his predecessor, and thus the previous strategies failed to thwart the Vinsenian onslaught. As if adding insult to injury, Kristoph watched on helplessly as the entire Pegasus Squadron was brought down by multiple volleys of arrows, including his wife and daughter. He had no choice, as much as he wanted to valiantly charge into the Vensinian ranks and avenge them both, Kristoph instead was forced to order the retreat, both to keep what was left of the Caldegian army from being killed or captured and to keep his son from meeting the same fate. It was a harsh retreat that only a lucky few survived, but both Kristoph and Simon would be able to fight another day, though at the price of never knowing whether or not the rest of their family was killed or captured. While Simon held out hope that perhaps they had been spared and would be able to join them again later, Kristoph already knew the harsh reality, that upon capture they would be given the choice to forsake Caldegia and fight for Vinsenia, or be executed. He knew Talia and Maya well enough to know that they would choose death in a heartbeat.

Kristoph led the remnants of the Caldegian army southward, where they joined forces with the Free State of Del Monray in the hopes of avenging the fall of Caldegia and stopping the Vinsenian Invasion once and for all. When the Vinsenians eventually came, they were led entirely by the same man who had defeated Kristoph previously. This, Kristoph was sure, was the perfect opportunity to not only wipe the slate of his previous failure, but to settle his developing vendetta against the General in question. Like before, however, Vinsenia attacked with an overwhelming force, numbers so great that no amount of strategy or clever tactics would halt their advance. Once again, Kristoph was defeated, and by the same damned general no less. This time there was no order for retreat, Vinsenia offered no opportunity for it. Instead Kristoph could only flee with Simon and they barely managed to escape with their lives. This put them in a bad situation. That was twice now they directly fought against the invasion and twice that Vinsenia had failed to capture or kill them. They were no doubt thrust higher up on Vensinia's list of enemies, and would now no doubt be attacked by them on sight. They were effectively fugitives now.

Kristoph, at this point, had fallen to drinking, and would have even taken his own life if not for Simon's intervention. Simon managed to convince him that there may be hope yet by joining Belinni. He even pointed out that this invasion had to start weighing heavily on their resources eventually, and that would be the opportune time to strike back. Deciding to give himself one more chance, Kristoph set out with his son to Belinni.

Likes/Dislikes: Kristoph has become increasingly reclusive as the invasion continues, drinking himself into near depression and, at one point, a suicidal state. As such, he's become a heavy drinker, and is seemingly never without a bottle of rum or some other alcohol to drown his sorrows in.

Strengths/Weakness: Kristoph is still as cunning of a Tactician as ever, his mind still able to remain sharp despite the drinking. The more defeats he has suffered, the more desperate and obsessed Kristoph has become, coming to a point where he now has no remorse for using ruthless and underhanded tactics so long as they can ensure a long term victory. Whereas before his plans might have resulted in demoralization or capture of enemy forces, they now only seem to have the goal of just outright massacring them, Kristoph caring only about destroying Vinsenia as much as his meager resources will allow him.

Other:
Name: Simon Thane

Race: Beorc

Sex: Male

Class: Myrmidon

Gender Identity: Heterosexual

Age: 20

Appearance:

Equipment: Iron Sword, Killing Edge

Personality: While he may not have the intellect of his father, Simon possesses his skill with a sword and then some. In fact, Kristoph has gone on record stating that Simon had long since surpassed him as a swordsman. Simon does not view battle as a mere series of plans and ambushes as his father does, but instead views them as defeating whatever opponent he is told to by his father and at the appointed time. He's tried to read a few of his father's tactical playbooks but can never seem to make heads or tails of them. So he concentrates his energy on mastering the sword, wishing one day to be acknowledged as the Greatest Swordsman in the World.

Bio: Born to Kristoph and Talia Thane, Simon wanted to follow in his father's footsteps, and indeed tried to do so. However, he seemed to have no aptitude for magic, and his father's strategic notes made him feel like he was reading a whole other language. But he did have tremendous talent as a swordsman, and decided to focus his energy into mastering it, hoping that perhaps he could become Tactician through experience rather than studying. Upon enlisting in the regulars, it didn't take Simon long to prove that he was indeed his father's son, out-performing other soldiers who had years more experience than he himself. It was this experience that convinced him to pursue sword-mastery, he even declared that he would one day be recognized as the Greatest Swordsman in the World. From that point, he followed his father into battle, fighting with almost beautiful skill and always making sure he attacked only as his father's strategies called for. He also participated in the defense of Caldegia and later the Free State of Del Monray, his skill with a blade earning him nearly as much renown as his father's cunning strategies.

Likes/Dislikes: He's not overly fond of armor, claiming it disrupts the meditative focus of his training and overall weakens his ability to fight. Like his father, he's taken to the occasional mug of ale or bottle of rum, though Simon is not a raging drunk. He tries to keep his father hopeful and acts as a moral compass for him, probably being the sole reason Kristoph has not gone completely over the edge.

Strengths/Weaknesses: He's easily one of the best damn swordsman of Caldegia, his sword strokes being quick, numerous and often described as "beautiful to watch" by those who watch him fight. His dislike for armor leads him to go into battle with little or none at all, allowing him to move with speed, agility, and grace but with little or no defense against any blows that do happen to hit him.

I'm genuinely wondering if I shouldn't have started Kristoph off as a Grandmaster... since a lot of the similarly aged characters are Promoted Classes as well. Even so, what exactly does the Grandmaster entail? From what I could tell, Kristoph would gain the ability to use both Light and Dark Magic, but it's the second bit "Learn from another class" that still confuses me.

That sounds kinda RACIST, freeshooter. Are you saying the laguz and taguel are filthy?! HOW DARE YOU INSULT MY FRIENDS! I FIGHT FOR MY FRIENDS! Also the whole platoon I kinda let get captured or killed. Woops.

I have a feeling Barst might have at least crossed paths with Kristoph. At the VERY least, he'd know of him, and the brutal loss of his wife and daughter's squadron. *Plotting begins*

Those, those ANIMALS?! the ones that would rather crawl on all fours and bite me then take up arms and fight me like a true warrior? I'll have you know, I have killed at least TWO AND A HALF already!

Edit: Can the 'second weapon' for my lord be a type of magic? I wish to have an axe and magic.

R00D. As for your question...maybe Vinsenia? It's mentioned that fighters were among the groups that were added to the newly bolstered army. For the edit question, I believe that simply means weapons, not magic. Magic is usually specified.
