It had been two weeks since the outbreak had hit California and spread to the city of Los Angeles, survivors from the city had fled to US Military Base Camp Pendleton. Sophia was carrying two bottles of water she had got from the soldiers who were handing out water to the civilians, the young blonde headed back towards her tent. She went back to thinking of the past two weeks had happened she was at her action movie premiere called The World Ends where she was the star of the movie. Sophia remembered a person was staggering towards the crowd and started attacking people. Sophia shook the thought out of her mind, she quickly headed to the tent not wanting to be seen by the other refugees asking for an autograph, when she finally reached the large tent Sophia looked at her younger sister Katelyn who was sitting on her empty bed that had been set up. "Got you some water." Sophia said as she sat down and handed Katelyn the bottle.

"Thanks sis." Katelyn said with a smile taking the bottle from her older sister's hand and twisted the cap open and took a sip of the cool water having not drinked anything the whole day she sighed, the young brunette looked at Sophia for a moment and then down at her phone having not gotten any calls from their parents which worried her, she tried multiple times but the phone lines were all busy or not even working at all due to the lack of power. "I'm sure they are alright, we will get back I promise." Sophia reassured her younger sister. "I know, I just want to know if they are alright is all." In the distance she could hear gunfire which caused Katelyn to jump, Sophia went over and sat down next to her keeping her sister calm incase an asthma attack happened her medicine was in the backpack on the floor. The military has been keeping the infected out and were making sure no one had been bitten. It would be a matter of time the undead would come through.

Alex gripped his steering wheel tightly, a breeze ruffled his hair through the gaping window, his squad car had taken a heavy hit from the side while he worked his way through traffic, although he had managed to make it out of the chaos, mostly in tact. The street he drove through was mostly empty, he needed to find a proper place to pull over, although he wanted to work his way out of the city first, despite the empty appearance the street had, it felt as if it was too quiet. He didn't want to be swarmed while he looked over a map, he pressed the button on his radio, each and every station still running the alert notice "This is a official government warning, stay indoors unless absolutely necessary, do not attempt to make contact with the infected, wait for assistance from proper authority." the message had been repeating for days, although he needed to find information about this Military base he had heard about earlier, it appeared as though he wouldn't find any information about it on the radio, he flipped it off, slightly frustrated.

Alex drove up the road a ways, swerving past the first infected he had seen for a long time, once he had found a appropriate spot to park, he pulled the map out of his glove compartment, he looked it over, talking to himself as he did so, he didn't want to be parked for very long, after all things can take a turn for the worse in a matter of moments, he had learned this the hard way after the past few days he has been on his own, he was low on fuel, the only weapon at his disposal was a police issued shotgun, and a handful of shells, he needed to find this camp, it was his last chance.

Hey, Dunn, wake up back there. We're nearly there."

Groggily wiping his eyes, Zeke pushes himself up off the cargo seat of the C-130 and stretches his back. He flips down the microphone on his headset. "Yeah yeah, I'm up." He stumbles over to the first pallet of supplies, checking the straps and chains for landing. "I really wish we knew what was going on. I mean Christ, we've been flying people and supplies around for nearly the past week nonstop." He goes on to inspect the other three pallets. "Descent checks complete, I'm going back to sleep."

The voice of Davis, the flight engineer, buzzes in his ear. "Alright, cool. But check in on the co first, he's been in the lav for a really long time. I'm a bit worried for him."

"Heh, he probably fell asleep in there, I'll get him." Swinging himself back around the pallets, Zeke walks towards the lavatory at the front of the plane. He knocks lightly on the door as he glances out of the cockpit. "Hey, Cap'n Brown, come on we're starting our approach." Getting no reply, he eases the lock open and glances inside. "Hey, you alright?" He sees the man slumped over the toilet, not moving. Zeke goes up to him and shakes his shoulder gently. "Sir, wake up." He doesn't feel any movement under his hand. He reaches around to touch the a captain's forehead. It was ice cold. He quickly feels his neck, trying to get a pulse. "Holy shit. Guys, Brown is dead." He walks backwards out of the lav and towards the rear of the plane in shock.

"What do you mean, dead?" Davis gets up from his station and looks through the door. He also goes up to him and checks for a pulse. "What the fuck happened?" He stumbles back to his station, and sits down heavily. "We have to call someone..."

Major Carlson, ever practical, reaches over and clicks the radio on. "I'm on it." A faint noise comes from behind him, and he turns to look. "Nice try guys, Brown's right here." He clicks the radio off again. He watches as Brown grabs onto Davis' seat, bends down, and sinks his teeth into Davis' neck. He reacts with horror as he listens to the desperate screams. "Brown what the fuck?!" He scrambles for his pistol, and points it directly at Brown, who looks up and grabs for Carlson's arm as he takes aim.

Zeke turns as he hears three blasts of gunfire. He rushes back up into the cockpit as Brown's body falls to the side. He takes a quick look at Davis, who has already gone still, dead. "What the fuck happened?!" He looks at the pilot for an answer.

"I don't know, I don't know! He came and just ripped his throat out!" He gestures to the body on the floor before turning back to the controls. "Oh, shit, we're losing airspeed. We're about to stall out." He looks down the throttle and notices them turned all the way down. He must have hit them in his panic for the gun. "Hurry, strap yourself in!"

Zeke dashes back to his seat as he starts to feel the plane falling out of the air. He buckles himself into the seat and prepares for a crash landing. The warning bells soon come on over the intercom, and he braces himself for impact. Five seconds later, the plane hits the ground. It seems like an eternity of screeching metal and smashing of trees into the fuselage. It was over almost as quickly as it started, though. Zeke opens his eyes, and is instantly hit with a painful light coming from the destroyed cargo door. He feels weightless as strong hands tug him out of his seat. He manages to snag his backpack as he is helped out of the plane. He is hit with a sudden rush of adrenaline as he realizes that he's still alive. He looks up at the battered face of Major Carlson. "You got us through..."

Carlson glances down before collapsing to the ground. "Yeah, I guess I did... I was able to level out right before we hit. We skidded to a stop. Last I was able to make out, we're about 30 or so miles north of Pendleton. Maybe more..." He closes his eyes as he loses consciousness. Zeke drags himself up to his feet and takes a few extra steps before passing out himself.

Marshall sits back in the tent at Camp Pendleton. He took a sip of water as he begins to look back over some of the crazy shit that has went on in the last few days. Marshall was in an alleyway with three other people - Charlie, Nathan and Alicia, all heading to the camp. However they got surrounded by those... things, in an alleyway. They were coming from both ways. "This is it, isn't it?" His friend Charlie said to him. Cutting in, Alicia, one of the girls they met on the way interrupts Charlie "Shut up and think! How do we get out of this one?" As she said that, Marshall realised what had to be done do avoid death. He didn't know if these things were - dead or alive... Some of them had crazy bite marks on their neck, face , arms etc. One of them had no hand. "Guys, I don't know what the fuck these things are, but damnit I'm not going to give my life to one of them - we don't know much, but we do know that they are gonna kill us!" As he stated that, Marshall reached down into his holster, taking out his Smith & Wesson - takes the safety off and begins firing, aiming for the head. Nathan was too scared. He decided to try and run past those monsters, even though the gaps were incredibly small. He never made it past them. The other three did though, as they stood their ground and cleared the way. Marshall and Alicia had guns, Charlie axed any of them that got too close. They shot most of them and ran - but Nathan didn't have it in him, and died trying to escape. They left that neighbourhood once they reached Marshall's car, and made way for the Camp.

Marshall was the only one that made it to Camp Pendleton.

He saw Charlie get eaten a few hours after that whilst looking for some gas, as they stopped at a gas station. One of the things had been sitting dormant, the three of them thought that it was dead... but it got up when Charlie got too close and sunk it's teeth into the back of Charlie's neck. By the time Marshall and Alicia got to Charlie it was too late. Charlie left his axe in the car, so he had no defence. He had already died and the monster was just feasting. Marshall and Alicia both ran back to the car, and left - but they didn't exactly have much gas, exactly why they were looking for more. Eventually the car did stop, as it ran out of gas. They decided sleep inside it, they were just up the road from this really small town, only around 15 buildings in it, there was a neighbourhood five minutes down the road past the town - looks like this town was just shops and stuff. They woke up the next morning, around 11.

Exhausted, to say the least. They decided to walk down the road and were at the edge of the town. Whilst walking, they had a chat. "What do you think we should call those things?" Alicia asked Marshall. "Well, different radio stations called them different things. One was calling them Corpses, another - Walkers, I think the local one back at my part of town called them 'Dead ones'. All fit I suppose, there's probably various names." Marshall replies. "Corpses... Walkers." Alicia said. They stopped at the pharmacy right at the edge of town. "Meet back here in 30 minutes, just walk around and try and find either a better car with gas, or some gas." Marshall says. He came back 30 minutes later as he located a car, and began to wait. He had been waiting for a number of hours. Truth is he didn't know what to think. He did know, however, that two of the Walkers had noticed his presence and were coming towards him. Two gunshots were fired, two of them were killed. He knew now, that he had alerted others. So he got into the car that he came across, with keys in the ignition and the tank half full. He drove down the main street of the town in hope that he would see Alicia, all he saw were more of them. Over 4 hours had passed, nearly five. He had to drive away. He had no choice... He was scared, and alone.

Marshall made it to the Camp. He never really thought over recent events until now. He heard the occasional gunshots fired by the military. Every time shots were fired he shit himself. He heard people talking etc outside the tent. He knew that people were being made to share tents, because of the high number of civilians and the low number of tents. He just sat there, and waited to see who was going to enter his tent, whilst he thought about Alicia. She could be anywhere, dead or alive... The more he thinks about leaving her the more he hates himself. He grips Charlie's axe hard. The only thing he has left of his. He's lost three friends so far... He met Nathan and Alicia on the way, but Charlie was his childhood friend.

Rose pushed her way through bushes. She decided that walking was probably her best bet to getting to the military camp. She had gotten a ride from a group of survivors earlier in her travels and they drove her most of the way, but that ended quickly when they had a run in with a few infected. She was now alone and scared, but knew that her only chance was to make it to that military camp in Pendleton. She did not walk along the road, for she knew that people would travel on the road and it would be more dangerous. From what she was able to pick up, the infected's sense of hearing was great and they would be drawn to the sounds of tire on pavement.

Her only choice of navigation was the sun, and as long as it shone on her back, she was most likely going in the right direction. A loud rumbling sound shook her out of her deep concentration and a plane flew over head. She watched it as it dove down and disappeared. The sound of the plane must of stirred near by infected because the woods behind her started to rustle and come alive.

"Shit! No, not now." Rose jumped back as a hand shot out, followed by a chomping pair of teeth. She took no time to hesitate and bolted in the direction that she was heading a quickly as she could. Her legs were screaming at her to stop, but her adrenaline kept her moving. Rose ran as hard as she could until she couldn't hear the growling anymore. Finally, she just had to stop. Panting heavily, she placed her hands on her knees and tried her best not to vomit. Another rustling in the bush pushed her into a panic mode. She quickly grabbed her dual machete off her back and prepared herself to attack what ever was going to attack her first.

A rife poked out of the bush, followed by a soldier. He quickly aimed it at her face. Rose dropped her machete and raised both hands in the air. "Are you lost?" Said the soldier. His voice was raspy and monotoned, she was unable to tell if he had good intentions or not. "I'm looking for Pendleton." "Are you alone?" She nodded, sadly. Even though it is much easier for her to travel alone, she wished she had someone with her. Facing the end of the world was scary, it's a lot scarier when you're alone.

"Follow me then, Pendleton is right past these woods." Rose let out a sigh of relief as it felt as if a weight was lifted off her shoulders. She scooped up her machete and followed close behind the soldier to the camp.

Autumn was alone, in a corner of Pendleton watching his hand. It was shaking, and not from the weather. This was something he had never witnessed before. He was so scared that it was having a physical effect on his body. Shoving the shaking hand inside his coat, so that no one could see he thought back to the last couple days.

Autumn had been living in an apartment in LA since his family had died in the fire. It had been a hard transition at first, but he had quickly adapted. After a little while he noticed that living in such a different place wasn't so bad. Though he still had a hard time falling asleep with the constant sound of cars. On his third day of his new life in LA, Autumn had met a guy named Seph. He lived just down the hall from Autumn. They had met while picking up their mail and instantly were friends.

Shivering at the memory, Autumn felt a pain in his chest at the loss of his new friend. On the fifth day in LA, Autumn and Seph were in Seph's room eating pizza and drinking together, just having a good time. The T.V. was on, but they weren't paying much attention to it. Seph was laughing at something he had said when the screen of the T.V. flickered and switched. Their conversation died and they looked to see what was going on.

On the T.V. screen a reporter came up. She looked panicked and frightened and was talking very fast. Almost like she wanted to get it over with as soon as possible. Some of what she said was impossible to comprehend, but they did clearly hear the words "Infected," "Dead," and "Dangerous." They turned to look at each other just as the power in the building died.

It had taken three full days to safely get out of the building, four if you include the day they spent trapped inside the apartment dumpster. After getting out they headed towards a haven they had heard about. A place called Pendleton. Seph never made it close. Just a block from the apartment one of the infected had jumped out from an alley. It face planted onto the pavement in-front of Seph, reaching out for him. Seph reacted trying to throw himself away, but it got its fingers stuck in his shoe. With a quick bite on his left calf, they both knew he was infected. Autumn had to kill the infected and his friend that day. It was the toughest thing he had ever done. And he was still feeling the effects of it now, judging by the shaking of his hand against his rib cage.

"Were coming up now Sir, thats Camp Pendleton dead ahead."

Leonardo looked at the pilot from the back seat of the Huey they sat in, he didn't really like it when people used the phrase dead ahead anymore and it seemed like a bad joke now and days used by the younger soldiers. Leonardo couldn't blame him he guessed, some of these young boys were fresh out of basic trying to make sense of something no one could. They had lost so many soldiers over the last couple weeks to this damned plague, now they were struggling just to get soldiers into the field. Leonardo looked at his watch it was just caressing 12:00 pm now, looking out the window he got his first view of Pendleton, the camp was large from the Aeriel view... too large in a lot of ways. Leonardo couldn't help but think that it was an accident waiting to happen here, you couldn't secure a camp of this size, and he knew that well... too well for his liking in some cases.

"Beginning our descent Sir, the Major is going to meet you on the pad and get you up to date."

Leonardo nodded his head not really bothering to speak to the young pilot, feeling the descent of the helicopter he grabbed a hand hold as they went down rather fast, and then no sooner a red light came on with a blaring alarm. Leonardo didn't freak to much as he knew the landing would probably be a bit rocky given the make shift heli pad they were going to be landing on. When the thump came signifying the helicopter was landed Leonardo went forward and pulled open the door and climbed out ducking the blades cautiously, as mentioned the Major was on the pad.

"You look like a CIA spook or some shit in that suit Leonardo, man you definitively have changed a fair bit since I last saw you."

Leonardo smiled to himself for a second as he looked at Major Frederick, when he had come here he had not expected to see anyone he knew from his former military days, hell he half expected the Camp to be gone by time he got here. It had been a long two weeks for Leonardo, he had been sent to three different refugee camps and all of them had fallen. It was no big secret that this infection whatever it was, was spreading like a damn forest fire and it was only getting worse everyday it lasted. The smile on his face was gone as quick as it came as he recounted the fallen Camps that lay behind him, it was not his fault really but he couldn't help but feel responsible for the fact that they are now dead camps.

"Frederick how the hell did you end up here? I didn't think I would see that ugly face again in my life time."

Leonardo started following Frederick down the stairs of the helipad, looking up the helicopter took off and disappeared into the distance and was then gone, probably back to the main base, who knew or cared in the end.

"Heard you were coming here, so I made sure to transfer myself so I could be insulted by you one more time. God knows at this point I could be dead at any time..."

Leonardo heard the edge in Fredericks voice when he spoke the last part. After that there was a steady silence between the two it seemed that they both knew now was not the time for bickering between old friends. Leonardo took the time to look around the camp as he followed Fredericks, the look was the same and the feel was the same as the last camps. The looks in the eyes of these people, it was a look of fright, sadness, hopelessness, Leonardo had seen a lot of that the past weeks and he knew the look well. An he knew well enough that he was going to be seeing more of this before it was over, that is if he didn't die before the end came, reaching into his jacket pocket Leonardo removed a pack of smoke and slowly removed one from it and lite it with a tarnished silver zippo. Taking a few drags off of it he let the smoke fillow out of his nose as he looked at the soldiers near by passing out water, Leonardo nodded to a couple ladies passing by him as he followed the Major into a near by tent. Inside the large tent was appeared to be a basic set up, communications devices on one side a table in the center and a desk at the far end, this was most definitively the command tent, Leonardo took a seat in one of the folding chairs and removed the cracked golden framed aviators from his face setting them on the table. When the Major sat down they both seemed to look at each other red eye for red eyes.

"You look like hell Leonardo, I am guessing you have seen some action these past weeks."

"Too much action John I have watched three separate camps fall to these... things. The last one I was lucky to escape with my life in tact which is why I am not so thrilled to be at this camp right now."

"I know what you mean, I was at a couple other camps myself before being stationed here they didn't make it either. Its like a damn tidal wave, they just... wash over camps relentlessly in large hordes, and the people they panic and everything fails..."

Leonardo saw that look in Johns eye's as he sighed and took another drag off the cigarette, it looked like he had not been the only one who had seen this hell in full force. Leonardo removed the pack of smokes from his pocket and pushed them across the table to John who looked down and slowly picked them up. John had quit smoking long ago like Leonardo had but since all this started what was the point anymore? Watching John remove a smoke from the pack Leonardo took out the tarnished silver zippo, the once marine insignia now fading off the casing and pushed it across to John who lit the cigarette and took a long drag off of it.

"Whats the situation here John?"

"Honestly its shit, more and more people are coming here by the day, looking for safety, food, a home, a missing family member, and the truth is we are running out of room for all these people. Not to mention we can't let everyone in because of infection, they don't take to it kindly, they don't understand that once your bite, its over. They fight because their scared and want to be safe, oblivious to the fact that their life is already forfeit. An the kids... god its so depressing to see then orphans here, sad and just... gone from what they have seen. It was so much easier fighting in other countries because at least then we were fighting for something, towards and end... this... has no end and its happening to the people we took an oath to protect, and I would be a lier if I said it didn't get to me a lot of the time."

"Its not easy on me either John, some days are better then other, some days I feel like I can go on, and others I feel like im losing my mind. A lot of days I just isolate myself from everyone because I can't stand to be around people anymore. An it hasn't gotten any better knowing that my wife is dead and my son is missing, probably dead too..."

They both became silent after that for a time, neither one of them really wanted to revisit those memories anymore. In fact Leonardo just wanted to go somewhere where these was no people and stay there for the rest of his life and never come back. But it was undeniable that the thing that kept him going was that perhaps he could find his son, or even his long lost brother. Pipe dreams at most, but everyone needed something to hold on to, and that was all Leonardo had now. When the tent flap opened both of them looked back at a soldier, the man saluted hastily and spoke.

"Sir we have a troublesome man at the gate, he is bitten but he says it wasn't by an infected and he making a large fuss."

"Great always something..."

John got up and Leonardo did as well, following him out they walked through the camp quickly and came upon the front gate, already they could hear the screaming it was obvious the man was panicking or had lost his mind, whatever the case the last thing they needed was one man panicking the rest. As they both walked up a couple soldiers were inside the gate trying to get the man to leave but he had no intention of doing so. They kept their guns pointed at him to keep him a distance from the gate.

"You bastards! I told you I am not infected I wasn't bitten by one of those things! Let me in!"

John walked up to the gate as Leonardo came up behind him, this wasn't the first time this had happened, probably the hundredth actually, they could not let him in regardless of if it was true or not, fact was they didn't know any couldn't risk it. As John moved towards the gate, to deal with the man, Leonardo put his hand on his shoulder.

"Ill take care of him John."

Leonardo walked to the gate and slowly he unlatched it and slid outside and walked to the man who was obviously frustrated.

"Sir you can't come in, if your telling the truth or not is irrelevant, the fact of the matter is we can not and will not admit you through the gate because we can't risk the lives of all these people if your in fact infected you must understand this."

"You know what I understand...?"

When the punch came Leonardo had not expected it, the mans fist made a connection with his jaw and for a split second Leonardo's eye sight went a bright white as he smacked the dusty ground. When Leonardo came back to reality he heard the screaming of the soldiers threatening to shoot the man if he didn't back up, slowly regaining his feet Leonardo put his hand up to tell the soldiers to back down.

"Don't fire... we don't need a panic or and uproar I will take care of it..."

Leonardo lifted his hand to his jaw and with a sick crack put it back in place, moving his jaw around a little bit it was burning with hot pain, wiping the blood from his busted lip Leonardo looked at the man, he was now officially pissed off and that was in no way a good thing, but he kept his cool the best he could as he spoke.

"Tell you what... you can enter... if you can get past me... one lucky shot means nothing..."

The man was clearly agitated now, when he came forward Leonardo was more then ready for it this time, the punch came directly for his stomach backing off slightly the punch fell short. Going forward Leonardo grabbed the outstretched mans arm and twisted it, turning his back to the man Leonardo flipped him to the ground pretty hard. Leonardo spit some blood out of his mouth as he turned his back on the man and walked back towards the gate. When he felt the punch land in his back however Leonardo went forward as he felt and arm going over his throat. Getting pulled in Leonardo brought his head back and slammed the man directly in the nose, the man screamed as Leonardo turned under his lightened grip, backing up slightly he charged forward and drove his head into the mans stomach hard. Then he brought his arm down and brought it directly under the mans crotch and yanked him off the ground for a split second an did a take down slamming him on his back. Leonardo rounded the man, he was dazed now quickly taking his arm Leonardo put it between his legs and then hit the ground putting the man in a reverse arm hold. The man screamed but he was now trapped and he wasn't going no where.

"Now I am going to let you go... if you don't leave the next time I am going to break this arm and then your other one. Do you understand?"

Leonardo brought the mans arm forward in a cockeyed position as it cracked alittle making the man scream again.

"Do you understand!?"

"Yes!"

"Good..."

Leonardo released the mans arm as he quickly pulled it back grabbing his shoulder and then high tailing it away from the fence. Leonardo brought his hand to his jaw again as it felt numb from it being punched out of place. Walking back to the gate John was looking at him almost bemused that he had got decked in the face. Reaching the gate Leonardo looked at John.

"I don't want to hear it John... lucky shot nothing more."

"Sure it was or maybe your just old now."

"Shut up or I will put you in a guillotine."

They both smiled for a brief moment, a laugh in the midst of dark times, they both needed it but it wouldn't last long. That was the one consequence of this new hellish place... hapiness was but a minute compared to the eternity of misery..

It was starting to get later in the day, past noon at least and into the mid-afternoon and the camp had been fairly quiet. However all that changed with the return of another scouting party of the military. The truck pulled in, and a pair of guards climbed out, holding a boy who looked to be in his early twenties, struggling and screaming. “God damn it let me go! You don’t understand!” Luke screamed for what felt like the millionth time. They didn’t seem to care.

“Sir, we’ve talked about this. It’s not safe on the streets out there with the infected. Your best hope for survival is here.”

“Fuck you! I said let me go!” He was dragged inside the main gate and it was locked securely behind him. Luke turned instantly and made for the fence, however stopped as one of the soldiers raised their guns at him.

“We can’t allow you to do that, son.”

“You don’t understand! She’s still out there! She won’t survive on her own! I have to get back to her! I- I could show you just-” The army man raised his gun just slightly and Luke looked at him with eyes that had a mixture of pleading, sadness and anger all mixed into one. However he was not stupid. If he kept making a scene like this it wouldn’t get him out, just deeper into this mess.

“Don’t worry kid, we’ll find your friend-” The man tried to console, but Luke didn’t want to hear it.

He turned and walked away, his eyes scanning all along the perimeter, looking for a way out. Every now and then he’d glance over people’s faces, all looking at him with fear because he’d caused a scene. No doubt they thought he was crazy, who would chose the outside over this place. He hadn’t chosen to come here. It was just as dangerous as everywhere else. Sure there was no infected, but it was crowded, and if one person got infected, he could only imagine how long it would take for it to spread to everyone, trapped in a big cage like this. Over crowded.

He felt safer back with Ash. Sitting down by a wall he hung his head in despair. They’d never find her. He told her to wait for him. Told her he’d be back before nightfall. What would happen when he didn’t come back? She’d think he died. Or got the chomp. Would she leave? Or stay like he told her? He didn’t want to think about her sitting there, waiting for him as she starved to death. “Don’t worry, Ash. I’m going to come back.” He promised softly.

"Canned food... 3 cans of pineapple, 4 cans of baked beans, and 1 can of chili... check."

Wayne sifted through his supplies on his knees, going through all the loot he kept under a tarp around some bushes. Just a tent, sleeping bag, a backpack, camp fire, tools and cooking wares, and the supplies he had laying around. Right next to his camp was a fresh water pond, where he could gather water that only needed to be boiled to clean up. He was lucky he found this spot in Tenaja Canyon before anyone else did. The canyons provided decent protection from walkers and potential looters, and he was ways away from the nearest points of civilization. The only thing he really had to worry about was a survivor camp in a country house located about 3-4 miles to the southeast of where his camp was. Luckily, they didn't bother him. They were probably just a bunch of scared folks trying to get away from the chaos, which swept through Los Angeles and was now eating up Orange County and the Inland Empire. None of them or anyone else came across here, but Wayne still had to make sure none of his supplies went missing. Vigilance was necessary for Wayne through his life. With the current situation, vigilance was needed more than ever. But on the plus side for Wayne, he didn't have to worry about society any more. With society falling apart in the cities, Wayne felt a sense of relief knowing that he didn't have to worry about law after law and being arrested and locked up, as long as he stayed away from people. With society going away, Wayne really liked the idea of being a wildman. Because fuck people.

Wayne made a quick check-up on his camp to make sure everything was good here. With that done, now was time to go on one of his looting runs. Perhaps it was time to give the survivors at the country house a visit. And by "visit", Wayne was going try and steal some of their supplies under their nose, and if need be, kill a few of them.

And so Wayne left his camp for his looting run.
An hour later, Wayne made it to the edge of the country home's property.

The survivors have set up makeshift barricades along the windows of the house and the fences of the property since Wayne's last scouting run. Two of the survivors holed up here patrolled around the property, so getting inside and stealing shit was going to be difficult. Meanwhile, a cloud of smoke bellowed from the nearby chapparal to the east behind the house's property from where Wayne was. Probably a plane crash, so that might be where the other two survivors were. Wayne calculated his options, and decided against stealing for now.

To the east between the survivor camp and the crash site was an abandoned home that was looted by the survivors earlier. That's where Wayne was going to hide out and observe the situation a bit more, see if the other two survivors would come back to the camp. Assuming they went to the crash site, that is.

And so Wayne went right over to the abandoned home nearby to scout out a bit more. Better to observe the situation more closely before doing anything drastic, he decided.

Rose and the soldier pushed their way through the bush just in time to see the brawl between the other soldier and the civilian. She watched in shock as the soldier twisted the mans arms and threatened to break them. A gasp escaped her lips and the soldier that had escorted her shook his head in disappointment.

"Jesus. Not again.."

"Not again? You mean.. this happens often?"

"More often than it should. Everyone is so high strung since the infection started, people are a lot more hostile now. It's to be expected though." He must have sensed Rose's hesitation and tried his best to comfort her by placing his hand on her shoulder. She shot him a glare and awkwardly stepped away. "Uh, yeah. You'll be fine. Come on, let's get you checked in."
He lead her past the man who was now on the floor holding his arm. Rose tried her best not to make eye contact. They stopped in front of a table that had two soldiers on both sides holding a rifle, a nurse, and a man with a clip board. Before Rose could say anything, the nurse quickly went to work inspecting her.

"Have you been bitten?"

"No."

"Raise your arms." Rose raised her arms.

"Now lower your arms. Spread your legs. Bring them together. Open your mouth. Shut your mouth. Touch your toes."

The woman was ordering her so quickly that it looked like Rose was doing some mad dance.

The nurse stared into Rose's eyes for a long while, an uncomfortably long while before scuffing. "She's clear sir."

"Name?" The mans voice was raspy and deep, as if he was dehydrated.

"Excuse me?"

"Name, what's your name?"

"Rose... Rose White."

"Alright, you're good. Go on in, find yourself a tent."

"You can't assign me to one?"

"Look behind you girl, there's a whole line of people waiting to get in, I don't have time to look for a tent for you."

Rose sighed as her social skills were going to be put to the test. It seemed as if every tent was already taken. She found a stole to perch herself on and examine the camp before settling down. There were a lot of people wandering, searching, and crying. It was madness in a very small place.

Maria was an extremely wealthy individual, she couldn't say she arrived at this wealth from nothing-- on the contrary, she fully acknowledged her privileged upbringing-- but she also acknowledged that she to work her way up from upper middle class into the top 5% of wealth on American continent. It was a minor annoyance that she had to stop working while some "infection" spread, perhaps the more major annoyance was the fact that the incompetent government of this country of consumers had apparently not made any progress on the development of a cure-- but what was unacceptable was that for the past two weeks she had to share her space with the common rabble, Camp Pendleton. Clearly her money hadn't earned her a more secure haven.

'Absolutely unacceptable...' She muttered to herself, trying to find the proper drone to get her water ration from.
---
24 mg of Invega. Twice the recommended dose for getting rid of hallucinations and delusions, Mother wanted to be sure the symptoms never showed when she was prescribed some 36 years ago and Maria just... kept doing it, perhaps as a way to remember her? Regardless, as she swallowed the pills with a bit of newly acquired water, the realization came upon her that she would either need to find a way to get more pills soon, or lower her dosage.

She left her tent to find someone to discuss this troubling issue with, until--“Fuck you! I said let me go!” What was this? Maria stood aside to watch the exchange.

“We can’t allow you to do that, son.” The two didn't appear to be related, the grunt appeared to raise a weapon to the man. The last time Maria checked, we weren't under marshal law.

“You don’t understand! She’s still out there! She won’t survive on her own! I have to get back to her! I- I could show you just-” Ohhh, cold twist. A Romeo looking for his lost Juliet. The soldiers maintained their breaking of every local, federal, UN, and Geneva law by keeping their guns raised, however.

“Don’t worry kid, we’ll find your friend.”

Maria scoffed, 'In the same amount of time you found Osama Bin Laden, I'll bet...'

After the exchange was over, most of the easily frightened sheep that populated the camp seemed to veer away from the young man. Maria, on the other hand, found herself interested-- and enchanted with the idea of possibly exchanging one hellhole for another. She followed the man, staying a quiet distance behind him, he appeared to be following the wall. Looking for an exit? If so, she could certainly credit the man with diligence. Eventually he stopped though, Maria could just make out the man muttering something as she approached him. Figuring this was not the time for overly formal greetings, she said the thing she knew would attract his attention, "So where do you think she is now?"

"So how long do you think this will last?" Katelyn asked her older sister her blue eyes meeting Sophia's since being there her sister had been watching over her since the whole infection started. "I don't know, hopefully it will be gone soon." Just ask Sophia answered her sister's question a family who managed to somehow stick together through the whole infection spreading entered. "Mind if we stay here with you guys?" A man asked and quickly recognized Sophia, and started to usher his family out of the tent knowing that she was a celebrity the whole family looked like they were exhausted . "No you all can have our tent, your family needs to stay together." Sophia said as she stood up grabbing her bags, the family looked grateful and shook her hand. "Thank you so much." He said, Sophia smiled and shook her head and simply smiled.

Katelyn grabbed her things as well and smiled to the family and followed her older sister out of the tent, they both looked around the whole military base tons of refugees had left the surrounding area to come here for protection. Sophia noticed a plane in the distance was starting to fly really low to the ground and was going to fast, a few seconds it was out of sight then came a loud crashing sound the situation was starting to get worse, and Sophia didn't like it. "Lets find another tent okay?" Sophia said Katelyn simply nodded and looked around watching people crying some were trying to search for their family. They both found a tent that looked empty and entered it, inside Sophia quickly noticed a man was inside of it, but she quickly recognized his face.

"Marshal!" Katelyn said happily and ran over to hug him, Sophia smiled as she approached him she looked into his eyes, she was glad to see her friend Sophia remembered meeting him for the first time when she first came to LA to start her career even roomed with him and his wife at one point she also watched their son at the time before she could get back on her feet. "How have you been?" Sophia said with a smile.

Autumn startled at the sound of a plane nearby. Watching it, he noticed it start to descend, faster then normal. There was a loud crash only moments after the plane dipped behind the trees. Smoke rose in billowy wisps. Autumn raised a hand to his head and ran it through his hair. The whole world was going to shit and it didn't look like it was getting better any time soon.

Pushing himself off the ground, he made his way through the campsite until he reached his tent. It was a small thing, big enough for two people if you squeezed. The damn thing also had a rip in the top. Autumn had quickly realized how much of an annoyance this was as soon as it rained. His attempt to fix it was to lay an extra shirt over it. It helped for the most part, but he still occasionally got hit in the face by drops.

Reaching to open his tent he saw two girls climbing into their own. One of them was slightly familiar, maybe from a T.V. show or movie? He shrugged to himself. All sorts of people ending up in this mess. At the thought of that he wondered who exactly hadn't made it. What exactly was going on out in the world. That was the thing that was frustrating to him, the not knowing.

A few minutes later Autumn was in his small sleeping bag attempting to sleep. He had one of his arms laying under his head to act as a pillow and the other fiercely gripping his makeshift weapon. Under the bag he was trembling, wishing for the lights to return. He still wasn't used to a life in the dark. Sighing deeply as he realized he wasn't going to get much sleep Autumn pushed himself out of the tent and looked up into the sky. He returned to his thoughts, just working his way through everything.

Luke looked up at the sudden voice, his face betraying the confusion and slight suspicion he was feeling. He never had a very good poker face. However he was desperate. He'd take any chance he had right now. So his features softened, returning to a more hopeless look. "She'll be where I left her." He said quietly, not overly wanting to reveal too much about Ash's location. "In the garage of her house. We've been hiding there since the beginning of the outbreak." He stood up finally, looking at the older woman, trying to guess what her intention here was.

Still, he had no other choice, so he was going to take any help he could get. "Please, she's just a little girl. She's hungry and she'll be scared. She won't survive on her own. I just need to get back to her. Please. You've been here longer than me. I just need a way out... Or if you could point me in the direction of someone who can help..." He shook his head slightly and hung it in despair. "I didn't want to come here. They found me and said I needed to 'for my own safety' once they realised I wasn't bit." Sinking back to the ground Luke looked along the wall hopelessly.

They think they're safe here. But they're wrong. This place will fall, it's a freaking buffet. It's just a matter of how long. He didn't plan to be around to see things turn to hell and he certainly didn't plan to have Ash around for it either. He'd already seen her left behind by selfish people looking out for only themselves. He looked back up at the woman sadly. "Please? I'm all she has right now."

"Your not going to escape... being one of the men who has watched three of these camps fall already I know well enough that you will get caught."

Leonardo walked silently from the side of the tent he was hiding besides as he got in full view of both the man and the woman he was talking to. Reaching into his coat pocket he removed a cigarette and placed it in his mouth, with a click of his zippo he lite it and took a deep drag off of it and blew the smoke into the air watching it disappear for a split second before drawing his attention back to the man.

"This place was built to keep people inside, and even more it is meant to keep things out, the men in this base are watching day an night, an unless you knew the rotation times and had a lot of luck, sneaking past all of them would be impossible. On another note I must apologize for ease dropping on you, I was nearby when they brought you in and was curious as to what was going on. Its one of my jobs you see to make sure that there are no plots on the inside of the camp, and usually the first thing you look for is someone who is loud and unruly its usually a good indication."

Leonardo moved forward as he took the cigarette in between his finger and made his way to the wall, leaning against it he took the weight off his legs and blew out another puff of smoke as he looked around the area. It seemed to be empty enough so they could talk privately without someone listening in on them.

"Now the way I see it, the only way your going to leave this camp is in three ways, one you get permission to leave which is very unlikely given the pretenses of why you were brought here. Two you can try to fight your way out and die and then get carried out, or three you find someone who has a decent pull around here to get you out. As it so happens I am one of those people, and as it may be I am going on a solo recon in about twenty minutes. Now lets imagine I requisition a few civilian volunteers or so to help me, would you be willing to accompany me on my recon?"

Leonardo raised his eye brow as he looked at the man, getting up off the wall he blew another puff of smoke into the air.

"If your answer is yet then walk to the gate in twenty minutes, if not then you will have to find your own way out, but remember this... if you intend to go under the cover of darkness remember that its harder to identify someone who is alive or dead with no light."

With that Leonardo tossed the near burned out cigarette aside and walked away from the two.

Zeke slowly opens his eyes to a scream. He jerks upright, instinctively grabbing for his pistol. He is immediately hit with an overwhelming wave of nausea, and rolls to his hands and knees to retch. He wipes his mouth and looks up to try and locate the source of the sounds. He notices a man near the cargo door of the plane, backpedaling wildly. The man trips backwards, and he shouts for help as a figure falls upon him. The screams intensify as the man's abdomen is ripped open. The undead body of Davis scoops out the man's intestines, and shoves them into his mouth as the screams die off.

"Oh my god!" Zeke shouts as he quickly stands up and unholsters his M9. The sound of his voice causes the corpse to turn its head towards him. It shambles back to its feet and starts to walk towards him. Zeke raises his hand and aims for center mass, taking three quick shots. Two of the bullets hit the mark, and the corpse falls over backwards. He eyes the fallen body warily as he endures another wave of nausea.

He notices movement out of the corner of his eye, and turns to Major Carlson. Carlson lets out a low groan and opens his eyes. He coughs, and tries to say something, but only lets out a whisper. Zeke stumbles over to him, giving him a quick once over, checking for injuries. He notices a deep cut in the major's left hand, and sees that his right arm is broken above the elbow. He turns his back to the walker he shot, and turns Carlson over to check his back for any more injuries.

He hears a rustling in the bushes in front of him, and looks up to see another man, holding an old shotgun up to him. "Get down!" He says, and Zeke puts his hands up. "Get the fuck down! Now!" Zeke slowly drops down to his hands and knees again, not wanting to anger his captor. The man blasts a round over Zeke's head, and he hears a thump behind him. Zeke turns his head around, noticing the corpse's hands only inches away from his back.

"What..? But I shot him. Twice!" He looks back up to the man, who steps around to look at the corpse. He grunts and turns back to Zeke, still hunched over Carlson.

"Sure, you shot him. You didn't kill him. You're military. You should know better than anyone to shoot them in the head." He slings the shotgun over his shoulder and bends down over the wounded major. "Here, move. I can bandage that hand. Find something to splint the arm in."

Zeke nods and gets to his feet, fighting another, yet lesser, wave of nausea. He turns to head back to the plane, but stops short when he notices the other dead man just outside the cargo door. "What about him?" He points to the body.

The man looks up to him, and his eyes follow Zeke's finger down to the body on the ground. "Shit, that's Tyler... I heard the screams. I just hoped it wasn't him... There's nothing to be done. We can't let him turn, like the others. Shoot him in the head, and be done with it... I never liked him much, but he doesn't deserve that fate..."

Zeke looks back, stunned, before taking out the pistol again. He tries not to think as he aims at Tyler's head, and pulls the trigger. He looks away quickly and forces himself to step over the body and into the plane. He undoes one of the straps on a pallet of supplies, and rummages through until he finds a small medical kit. He walks back over to the major and hands it to the man. "What's your name?"

He nods as he finishes bandaging Carlson's hand, and takes the kit. "This will do, thanks. My name is Paul." He opens the kit and takes out a malleable splint. He unrolls it and applies it to Carlson's broken arm. He stands up, and looks back to Zeke. "What's you guys' names then? What happened?"

"I'm Zeke, that's Major Carlson. Our copilot... Turned, I guess, and attacked Davis here. Carlson managed to shoot him, but we stalled out in the confusion."

Paul looks around, suddenly aware of the danger they might be in. "Alright, we need to get out of here. All this gunfire, not to mention your fucking crash landing, made a lot of noise. It'll attract more of them."

Zeke nods and swings his backpack over his shoulders. He bends down and, with the help from Paul, supports Carlson to his feet. "Where are we going then? We were flying those supplies into camp Pendleton."

Paul grunts as they start moving forward. "There are a couple of people I met up with. We're holed up in a house not too far from here. We were going to try going on foot to Pendleton ourselves, but got caught up." He starts leading them along, making decent progress with a half-conscious man between them. They make it to a road not far from the crash, and start moving along it.

"How far away is this hole up site then?" Zeke asks.

"Oh, not far. I'd say we're about halfway there already."

"You're not going to escape.."

She hadn't even gotten a chance to reply to the melancholy man before the smokey, older voice, startled her from behind. The man, dressed in grunt fatigues, lit a cigarette before he began again, completely ignoring her. Maria took mental notes as the soldier proceeded to berate them as well as examine him. His gray indicated he was older than her, by a few years at least. He was dressed in a similar manner to the rest of the cannon fodder present, though-- were they recruiting mercs? Had the government gotten that desperate?

A few things he mentioned piqued her attention as well, "This place was built to keep people inside, and even more it is meant to keep things out," She agreed with the first part, not necessarily the last. She felt like they were rounded up like cattle, and threatened with death if they tried to escape-- yet since day one news of camps falling across the county-- and the country, they weren't 'good' at what they were doing, they were a little lucky! Keeping people trapped under insane pseudo-martial law is what was getting people killed, they were sitting ducks. And still in all of this, no news from the government. They had been rounded here to die.

"Now lets imagine I requisition a few civilian volunteers or so to help me, would you be willing to accompany me on my recon?" The first logical thing, sensible thing the old cavalry man had said in the growing amount of minutes of her's he had wasted, she gave her best practiced 'grateful smile' as he finished, "If your answer is yet then walk to the gate in twenty minutes, if not then you will have to find your own way out, but remember this... if you intend to go under the cover of darkness remember that its harder to identify someone who is alive or dead with no light."

That last bit was... condescending? It was almost as if the spirit of her mother enveloped her, catching up to the soldier, she let her mind known. "You didn't even ASK where either of us wanted to go! What kind of soldier ARE you? To just go into hostile territory with absolutely no plan? Not assessing our skills? Not telling us what the camp needs so we might be able to perhaps help? Speed up the whole thing-- maybe increase our chances of success? Our fucking names, for Christ's sake? Did ANY of this occur to your small, one-track, proletariat, trigger happy mind!?" Regal birth granted her some height few women shared, she used this to her advantage and looked the soldier directly in his eyes while she scolded him. "Were we in Portugal right now, I'd have you court marshaled on the fucking spot--" She took a guess at his military rank, none the confidence leaving her voice-- "--Captain."

She didn't care about any reactions he might have, she continued her rant, where she was from, this was how you disciplined incompetence and insolence. "Look--" She jabbed a hard finger into his chest, "I was never informed of martial law taking-- I'll take no orders from you." She gave another jab, in the distance she could see the man still resting on the wall, "Whenever our temporary visitor an I decide to leave, we will." Another jab, accompanied with a step forward, she motioned in the man's direction and continued, "Believe it or not," her Iberian accent flared with her anger, "I currently hold the traditionally honorary role granted to a US Ambassador-- I say traditionally, because in times like these, those of major disorder, I retain some executive power." She gave a final jab and another step forward, "Unless you can show me documented members of local government or higher, I plan on using this authority... now."

With this, she walked back to the man against the wall, "If you no longer wish to execute your "recon mission" with civilian assistance-- fine. But just know that I will be leaving once I've got some semblance of a reliable plan to go with." She looked back at the man, a mix between coy, cocky and sexy on her face. "Right, and if you do intend on assisting us, I suggest you use that sword over that gun..." Finishing her walk back to the other man, she added a thought out loud-- "Has no one figured out it's the noise that attracts the infected... two weeks you've been firing those things, and more just keep popping up..."

The way the soldier spoke, made it sound more like a threat than like he was trying to help him. Luke initially felt suspicious, wondering why this guy would lie and go out of his way to help a complete stranger. But he chose to think it was because there may be some good people still left in this place, like this woman who had at least taken an interest in him when everyone else had avoided him. At this point this seemed like the easiest way to get what he wanted. An armed escort, being let out of this place willingly with no questions asked?

He really couldn’t have asked for a better escape plan. Once out in the streets he didn’t imagine it would be overly hard to lose the two. Then again maybe simply asking to be left to take his own chances would be enough, if this guy was willing to break rules to get him out who knew what he’d be willing to do? However before he could respond to anything the woman walked right up to him and began telling him off. Luke’s mouth practically fell open and he looked at the pair in shock.

What was she doing? Who in their right mind would be willing to help him after this? Still, he was not going to get in the way. She had… this strange air of importance about her that made him not want to draw attention to himself. Once everything was done he looked up to the woman and gave her a small, hesitant smile. “Um… thanks?” He said uncertainly as he stood. “I’m going to go and um… try and get some supplies together I guess.” He wasn’t really sure how this place worked with things like that, but if he could get some food back to Ash he’d feel better.

“Come find me before you leave? I just want to get back to my friend, out of this place. It’s a bloody death sentence waiting to happen.” With that he gave her a small grateful nod and turned to go before stopping. “My name’s Luke, by the way.” He gave her another nod and quickly hurried off, catching up to the soldier. He still thought it was his best chance of getting out, if the offer still stood, he wanted to keep options open just in case there was a chance that woman couldn’t get him out or if this man had plans to bring him back here after he found Ash.

“Hey, look, right now that little girl is the only thing that matters to me, okay? I don’t care how right now. I don’t know exactly what happened back there… but I’ll still take that escort if you’re offering? I don’t want to come back here, but I understand if you kind of have to make me or something. I don’t care as long I know she’s safe.” He still didn’t want to stay here, but getting to Ash was the most important thing right now. Everything after that could be dealt with as it happens.

Giving the soldier a small nod as well Luke quickly walked away, trying to get used to the crowds. It was so strange having people around after so much time alone. It was even stranger not having Ash by his side. Looking around he made his way towards a tent, not really paying much attention to his environment until he was face to face with a couple of pretty girls, one brunette and one blonde, each could have been a few years either side his age and a guy who looked a few years older than him. A dumbstruck look covered his face and he took a few steps back uncertainly.

“Shit! I um… I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to intrude-” He took a few steps back before his foot made contact with a tent rope and he was sent tumbling to his ass. The boy groaned in pain and looked down in embarrassment. That was another thing he wasn't used to; tent ropes.

Marshall had decided to take a nap. A few hours later, he woke up and looked around the tent - realising what a state it was in. If he was going to have someone, or some people coming in to share the tent while the Military sort this shit out he'd need to make it look approachable from the inside at least. He started thinking about it a bit more. Would it be children or adults? Elderly perhaps? Hell, he could've been paired up with a dog for all he knew, but still he didn't want to live in a shit hole. He put all the clothes lying around into his backpack - socks, pants etc. A few empty food cans and water bottles. He scooped them up - 1 can of beans, 1 of tomatoes, and 3 empty bottles. He left the tent and walked to the closest trash can - which had overflowed. He walked to the next and people had started just putting the trash next to the trash can because it was so full. He did the same, but decided to keep one water bottle and fill it up.

Marshall walked up to one of the Military soldiers, "Excuse me sir?" He asked politely. "What?" The soldier replied bluntly. "Where can I fill up my water bottle?" Marshall asked. "Do you really think I've got time to worry about your fucking thirst issues? Go ask someone who isn't currently participating in keeping this camp under control." As the soldier said that, Marshall decided to give off on it, and went back to his tent. He got in, and brushed some of the dirt and what not to the side."Asshole."

Marshall pretty much finished clearing around the tent All of a sudden, a few gunshots were fired by the Military, Marshall jumped out his seat before realising what they were firing at ofcourse - the undead. Suddenly, Marshall hears the tent unzipping. Moments later he sees two familiar faces - old friends, Katelyn and Sophia. He sighed with relief and hugged Katelyn back. "Oh my god!" Marshall said happily as a tear nearly appeared in his eye. "I can't believe this!" He stated. After all this time, Marshall finally had a smile on his face. Every time Marshall looked at Sophia, he got a bit upset. Obviously he was happy to see her, but every time he looked at her he saw his son's face due to her looking after him. Memories. "How have you been?" Sophia asked. "I've been... I'm - alive. I'm so relieved to see familiar faces, my god! How have you been guys? Did you get here all right?" Marshall asks. He unfolds two of the chairs and passes the to the sisters. Marshall sits on the floor opposite of them whilst he listens to their responses, simply happy to be with some people he actually knows.

Leonardo didn't bat an eye even when the woman started telling him off, in fact he found it almost amusing that she thought that she had any power at all anymore. In all truth Leonardo neither had time nor the need to fight back or even argue with this woman. It was obvious to him that she was just an overrprivileged, snobby, rich bitch who liked to throw her weight around because she needed to feel important about herself. However he did turn back last second before he left and got real close to her saying something that the other man couldn't hear.

"I am not a soldier sweet heart, in fact its been fifteen year since I was one. You think your overprivileged life and your money gives you the power of insight... however when it comes down to it your just as stupid and blind as the rest of us. You might want to start getting used to this fact because your words, your money, your so called power don't mean jack shit anymore. Have a nice day."

With that Leonardo gave her a nod that was meant as more of an insult then anything else. However right before he left he did turn around one last time to say one more thing to the woman.

"An also if it wasn't for men like me, people like you would be dead by now, so why don't you find a little humility and show some respect. You might think of me as a piece of trash under your shoe... but when the dominoes fall and tumble and are about to crush you, just remind yourself who would be saving your ass."

An with that Leonardo completely left and quickly lost sight of her before she opened her big mouth to talk more shit to him. He had to get back to his tent and finish with his route he was planning on using before he left. When the younger man fell in step with him he silently looked over at him, he looked a tad distressed and soon enough when he spoke Leonardo knew why.

"Don't worry kid, I have meant woman like her before in my life, she doesn't really bother me all that much. Just be at the gate in another fifteen minutes and we will leave. I have to finish going over my route plan... the same plan she thought I didn't have. Don't be late if your not there by time im leaving then there is no choice but to leave you behind."

With that the young man nodded to him and Leonardo was on his own again, walking the length of tents Leonardo came to his own temporary tent and walked in, the center of the tent had a small table with a map on it, a couple sharpies, and a protractor, in one corner was a black pack, the rest of the tent was empty besides a small folding chair. Taking a seat Leonardo looked at the map, from the different scouting parties he had spoke to it seemed that the larger portions of the infected were concentrated around centrals point within Los Angele's. Slowing drawing a couple circles he shaded them in with red, taking a look at the road system he knew that he would have to use the outskirts to keep out of heavy infected area's. He had seen this before at the other camps, large groups of infected in different key points on the map, however the problem was that they moved in a large horde of a group, for what he didn't know, he could only guess more food to sate their endless hunger for fresh human flesh.

He had to figure out if these large groups were moving and if so what direction they were heading in. Three camps, three different states, and several different groups of infected, and what they had in common was that each camp was destroyed when these large hordes moved and located the refugee camps. If this was happening now, he knew there was nothing he could do to stop it, in fact the way it was now all of these people would be in risk of dieing, which is why he hoped that the chain of events that had destroyed the last three camps was not in fact happening here now. He could not deny that the man was right to be scared of this camp... this place was far from safe, and almost half or even more of this camp were severely oblivious to the fact. Taking the protractor Leonardo drew a couple more lines with black sharpy, connecting certain roads soon enough time had passed by pretty quick. Checking his watch it was time to get back to the gate and get going, taking the map off the table and the rest of effects he placed them in the black pack and pick it up, he slung it around his shoulder. Walking out of his tent he was at the gate in only a couple minutes, checking his watch the man about five minutes to get here then he was leaving.
