Jackdaw turned all at once to him, head tilted down as if to relay an air of secrecy. When she spoke, it was without the aid of the speaker system, so that her voice just barely escaped the plate wall before her lips.

"We have a mission to do. We can only accept so many delays before losses need to be cut," she whispered, quiet so that Six would be the only one to hear them if he strained himself.

She knew what she was saying, and that was part of the reason she'd whispered it. Some might take her words as a sign of mutiny, but she harbored no ill will towards the captain. Indeed, she always craved a position of authority, and power, but not at the price of betrayal. That said, before her sympathy came her duty. She wasn't sure if Varus would understand the sentiment, but she could hope.

"His injuries aren't too severe. He'll be fine," she said immediately after, and into the speakers so as to cover up the brief moment of apparent silence.

Six turned towards her as she did him, matching the posture enough to catch what she said, though barely. He hadn't been around long enough to get a feel for what the general opinion of the captain was yet--but this gave him an idea. Jackdaw was correct, and he, quite frankly, shared the opinion, though he could tell he oughtn't voice it. He hadn't gotten to know the man yet, had no loyalties here to anyone but himself past simply working with them, and though he had no intention of betraying them or letting them go down, he also knew some things simply weren't salvageable, and that Varus knew the risks when he stepped on board.

He turned again, matching her earlier position, facing out towards the direction Taerys had run in, and nodded. "You're right." It sounded to those who'd hear it like an acceptance of a placation, a shake off of the earlier worries--but Jackdaw could catch the meaning, catch his agreement to her silent admission.

Ryder set Varus down next to Hay, then took a few steps back to observe what was to happen, sitting down on his metal rump, tail dragging to coil to his right side.

Hay stepped closer to the collection of armor, looking over it to see anything crazy obvious as damage. Thankfully nothing seemed to be painfully obvious. Shock armor had a way of dealing with shock and trauma. "Rennac, I need your help to get his helmet off. I need to check his body."

Varus inside was reeling, but his senses were coming back slowly. His ears were ringing, but at least they weren't silent anymore. He could also feel his skin, and it was surprisingly not harmed. He didn't feel like his whole body was broken, only his head.

Rennac nodded and patched back into the armor with his wrist computer, accessing the armor locking system and disengaging it. All at once the locks released and allowed Varus to move and relax onto the dirt below. "Armor lock released. Gonna unlock the helmet so we can get it off." His deft fingers soon found the release switches, slowly and carefully removing the helmet to prevent any further head trauma. Once he got it off he looked over at the captain and waved a hand over his eyes. "Hey there Captain. Still among the living I hope." He saw Varus was still breathing at least and figured he was not too badly hurt, not just waiting for him to wake up so they could assess the damage. Thankfully the shock armor would have handled a good bit of the fall. Since they were designed for straight out orbital drops being in a low atmosphere ship crash would hopefully not cause a great deal of harm/

Hay looked over his head, he had some bruising, but nothing too bad. All in all the Captain didn't seem to be that worse off. He gently reached for his neck, checking vitals and rates. all seemed normal. Then Hay saw that the Captain's eyes were open, so he waved a hand in front of them, checking for ocular recognition, and there is where things got to the damaged part. His eyes weren't calibrated right, a common sign of a concussion.

"He's got a concussion. Nothing too serious, be he'll be out of it for a few hours. And when that fades he'll be a little out of it. I'm going to give him a nerve and blood dampener. It will reduce the swelling in his brain and get him back in shape faster. but he'll suffer from reduced muscle control. Somebody will need to carry him for the next few hours."

Hay then grabbed a syringe, much like the one he had injected himself with, but the contents were a different color along the measuring scale. He cracked off the cap in a similar fashion and injected Varus in the neck. Very quickly Varus' bruises began to change color as the blood was thinned to allow a reduce in swelling. The good news from a shot like this. The bruises would be gone within the hour.

Ryder sat up and walked over, ready to pick Varus up, but he hesitated. Then gestured to put Varus' helmet back on.

Rennac nodded with the prognosis, smirking up at Hay. "Heh, maybe we should have you with us on ground missions more often? Sure, you're not a soldier but you seem to know enough to patch us up when we do something stupid." He half joked with the pilot, looking at Ryder's gesturing and putting the helmet back in place. He took a moment or two to make sure it was secure before re-initiating the armor lock. Thats when it hit him. "Wait, reduced muscle control? Well, lets just keep the dosage low and hopefully we wont have to clean his armor when we get out of here." He let that sink in a moment before starting to help Ryder get a grip on Varus and get him somewhere he wouldn't get hurt or kidnapped.

Ryder looked at Rennac with a tilted head, clearly not getting either of the jokes. He then stepped forward and lifted Varus up and cradled his locked body in his arms. Letting out a low whale's call and he looked to Jack for guidance. Till Varus woke up, she was making the most sense.

Hay smiled lightly as his ability was prove useful. Once he heard Rennac talk about being a ground medic, his color left his face. "No... no, no, no. I'm good being on a ship. I... no."

Jackdaw looked back to Ryder when he called out, but only briefly. She was fairly certain whenever he called words wouldn't be involved on his part, so the rest was easy enough to interpret.

"We're waiting now, unless you think going into that colony blind, with two wounded people is a good idea," she said.

Her tone clearly discouraged the second option, but then, she herself wasn't sure. If Taerys didn't return soon, they'd be forced to go in anyway and figure out what was keeping them grounded. Would it hurt much to speed up the process? Probably, and she'd already said she'd give the Varyx more time. So, unless there was a rallying cry to move on, they'd stay.

Rennac chuckled and shook his head. "Not as a full on ground medic, no. But if nothing else just stay in the area and sorta act as an airborne ambulance should the need arise. If the zone is hot We could always get the wounded to a safe distance than call you in. Heck, you'd probably wouldn't need to step foot off the ship if all things go well. At least until we get a ground medic who can help in these situations. Once we get back though I think it might be fun to try sparring a bit, get you a bit of training so you'll be less nervous when we call for a pickup in the field."

Hay was still a tad on edge. He didn't want to be down here with less down here with a broken leg. Still Rennac was trying to help and the thought did count in his mind.

He moved a it and sat down by Ryder, who was till jsut standing there with Varus in his arms. "Yeah maybe.... but... I don't know... I mean my leg is still kinda messed up." He said with a light chuckle, almost as if he was trying to make light of his situation.

Rennac smirked and nodded. "I wouldn't worry too much about the leg. I'm sure Teeth will make it right as rain once we get back to the Dawn after this mission. Heh, now that I think about it is Teeth one of those kinds of doctors that berates their patients for being reckless? Always had a bit of fun with those." The wolf smiled a bit light heatedly through the visor, his guise becoming back to that of the clown to help the somber atmosphere the situation put them in.

Honestly, Taerys wasn't entirely sure what the hell she was even meant to be looking for. Danger, sure...but what really constituted as danger out here in a place she knew nothing about? Everything, probably. As long as she could contact the rest of the team again, it'd be fine. For all she knew, though, they could be dead by now. It could be worse though; she was still alive at least, and she knew that she could cope by herself.

The Varyx took another turn, this time into what seemed like a kind of town hall of sorts. A large, open area that was eerily silent and empty, void of much that you'd normally expect in a building such as this. She felt far too vulnerable right now. If she could just make it over to the other side somehow...

Taerys' ears twitched suddenly. There was a noise over to her right. It was subtle, but she didn't miss much in the sound department. In a place as silent as this it was even more prominent. Her knife was immediately pulled from its sheath and her attention turned solely to the area of the noise. Of course she wasn't alone. She should've expected it.

Something small was peering at the Varyx from around a nearby corner, two little eyes and some hair was all that could be seen. When Tearys looked over, the form slunked back, hiding more of it's body assuming she had not seen it.

Eyes. Two of them at that. She locked her gaze with the stranger's own but as soon as she did, the eyes shot away around the corner again. It probably wasn't a good idea, but she was going to follow whoever it was. The whole thing screamed 'trap', but she just couldn't help herself; if this had anything to do with what got them stuck here, she had to know.

Taerys took it slowly but she edged her way forward, checking her surroundings every couple of seconds. It wasn't long before she suddenly darted towards the corner and rounded it in the blink of an eye.

When Tearys dashed around the corner, she would catch full sight of what the eyes belonged to. When the eyes looked back at Tearys, the little human girl let out an ear piercing scream of terror. Petrified in terror at the monster before her.

From nearby, footsteps could be heard running closer. Within seconds 3 more human showed up, all with guns, all pointing at Tearys. Even more footsteps could be heard coming closer as well.

"Get away from that!" One man yelled at the girl.

"Wait it's not one of them." Said another, lowering his gun. Even though the other two still had them aimed for her head.

Taerys froze. Humans. She knew it. She was caught like a deer in headlights. She shouldn't have been here, and had even told herself that same thing just moments before. It was obvious that something like this was going to happen. Of course it was the humans that were behind this. Who else would have the audacity? It caught the Varyx by surprise even more, then, that one of them lowered their weapons. And there was also one of the human young, too. She was trying to work it out but she just couldn't.

It was at that point that Taerys realised she still had a firm grip on her dagger. No wonder they were so edgy. Slowly, Taerys lowered it and sheathed it again, standing. "One of them? What are you talking about?" She asked, her tail swishing slightly in anxiousness; she had no idea what they were going to do next.

The small groups of humans were joined by a second group, this one containing about eight more people of various races. About two more humans, three bird-like individuals, and three more humanoids that had four arms and smooth skin. Within their arms were an assortment of weapons, ranging from small arms to welding tools, hissing with fire. All threatening the Varyx.

The man who lowered his gun looked away from Tearys and to his fellows, "Stop it. She's isn't one of them and we need to stick together. Night time is almost on us and we need to get on the walls. She could help us."

When he finished, about half of the people around lowered their weapons, and snuffed their torches. But the other half weren't ready to trust a stranger, "How do we know she would help us? I say we should just kill her before she kills us." Said one avian-man.

Rennac continued to sit at the clearing, clicking on his helmet's internal clock. According to that it had been a good fifteen or so minutes since they said to wait. He sighed a bit in annoyance, getting up and moving to Jackdaw. "Jack, we've had no word or sign of Taerys. As much faith as you may have in her we have no idea what we're up against. Only thing we do know is that it was powerful enough to drain our little shuttle dry in a matter of seconds. It may be wise to head out and see what's happening. Another few minutes and it will be darker out. We ca use the cover of night to sneak in and find Taerys."

Jackdaw didn't even hesitate when Rennac approached, snapping her gaze from the distance around to the others. "Read my mind," she said, first to him and then raising her voice to the rest of the group. "Get up, get moving, we're heading out!"

It had been long enough. More than long enough. This whole mission had been one waste of time after another thus far and she was just about sick of it. They'd find the colony, find what was screwing with their systems, and get out. She wasn't sure what exactly it was they were going to be up against, but it would be dark soon, and they had no better chance of taking it on then than they did now.

"If you kill me, your only chance of getting out of here alive is gone." Taerys remarked flatly, warily eyeing the new arrivals. What could they be so afraid of that they were willing to kill any outsider they came into contact with? "I'm part of the Alliance. The rest of my team are outside the walls and will soon be on their way here." The Varyx relaxed her stance but still kept her eyes on those who had their weapons pointed at her. "Tell me what happened here, and how we can fix it. Pointing weapons gives bad first impressions..."
