When Tearys told them of her Alliance status, about half of the remaining threatening people lowered their weapons and the rest of them took a look to the Avian-man who said to kill her, clearly questioning if they should keep their aim.

The Avian who had his gun aimed at the Varyx even questioned his aim faltered for a bit, but eventually held his grip, "How do we know you're telling the truth?"

Before anybody could say anything else, the first man to lower his gun spoke up again, "Does it matter if she is telling the truth? We stay here we die. If she has even a chance to get us out of here then that's a chance to live."

The Avian held his ground for a few more seconds pondering, before lowering his gun, "Your team is outside the walls? They are dead if they don't get inside before nightfall. Come on, we need to find them, quickly."

Ryder took a minute before standing up from hsi sitting position and he brought Varus with. Hay followed as well, glad to finally be moving towards what could be their bunker until EVAC came. Yet progress was slow and the colony was a good mile or two away. Even then, night was coming quickly, at their current rate, they should reach it by the time the sun went away by his calculations. But then they would have to work out how to get up the walls, and with his leg, who know's how they would do that.

Rennac nodded and slung his pack over his shoulder, pulling out his pistol and dagger before moving ahead. His species had the same heightened senses as wolves on earth and his sight wasn't compromised even as the light was slowly fading away. He went up to the hillside, surveying the path to the colony and keeping an eye for any movement. Hopefully there wouldn't be a scuffle and they would be able to get there without incident.

Taerys stood for a moment or two, considering what had just been said. "I have a job to do. I need to contact them. They're in the dark right now." She stated matter-of-factly, stepping forward. It was only now that she really noticed the variety of different races standing before her, not just humans. Still, she wasn't going to be trusting any of them yet. "So, it's in both our interests to get this over with. If my team don't make it, you don't either. They'll know what to do when they get to us." She remarked simply.

She knew that her words were blunt and to-the-point. She wasn't sure whether that would go down well with everyone here, but time was of the essence. Every second they wasted was a second less that they had to live. The Varyx brought her right hand up to her neck, pressing a few buttons on the side of her helmet. A few audible clicks later, and she lifted her helmet off of her head and tucked it under her arm, glad to have a moment outside of that cramped space. She turned her attention back to the man nearest the front. "Any suggestions?"

"The White Ones block communications, your radio is useless." The man by Tearys responded just as curt as she had. "They can't be far though right? We can signal them."

He began to walk, gesturing for Tearys to follow as he went to one of the walls, finding a set of jerry-rigged stairs and climbing them to look out over the plains. Smoking remains of the dropship could be seen off in the distance. He grabbed a small gun with a large barrel, aiming it up into the air and plugging his ears, pulling the trigger. A burning mass of a green flare shot up into the sky. "Let's hope your friends are looking this way."

Rennac continued to scan the horizon when he saw the spout of green flame come up from the wall of the colony, a wide smile coming to his face. "Finally! Some good news!" He ran back to Jack and the others. "Just got a signal flare from the colony. From what I could tell from the light there were a few people on the wall. The colonists may be alive. If not then we just butcher the marauders or whatever that are now probably in distress. Either way, things are looking up. Lets get moving."

Jackdaw was already trudging on from the crash site when the flare leapt into the air. Immediately her rifle snapped up to follow it, and then turned its barrel to the wall. Rennac came up and confirmed her suspicions, and she waved him down.

"Quiet," she snapped. "Move, but be quiet. If they're not friendly, they may only know that we're out here, not where we are."

She hunched a bit, and continued on, weapon held tight and aimed out for anything that might be lurking. It wasn't exactly black as pitch yet, but it wouldn't surprise her if something was managing to skulk about undetected.

Taerys took a moment to follow but eventually did so, albeit rather hesitantly. She took note of the surroundings once again. Everything here seemed very much patchwork in nature; it was all clearly done quickly and without much notice at all. How could they have been so ill-prepared for something like this? "Maybe now you can tell me about what you're all so afraid of." The Varyx stood and watched the flare rise for a few seconds before turning her attention to the bleak, ever-darkening horizon. Her ears twitched a little and she shifted uncomfortably on her feet. There was an eerie sort of foreboding in the air. She could feel it.

Ryder and Hay both looked at the flare with curious looks. Ryder for the fact that fire is flying through the sky. Hay because a green flare is the military equivalent of "regroup" or "safe zone." It's strange that it would be coming from the colony considering Tearys had not taken any flares with her.

"Guys, I don't know." Hay started uneasy, "A green flare is the signal to regroup, but Tearys didn't take any. Something else may be there and regrouping. It may not be safe there."

Still both Hay and Ryder continued to follow Jack, Hay trying to be as stealthy as he could with one leg, and Ryder, who could not be stealthy, just kept lumbering after them.

The man next to Tearys turned to her with a solemn look, "We didn't know it when we got here, and things were ok for awhile. But something is out there. I've never seen anything like it. They just want to kill anything living. We've tried to hold out and signal for help, but the White Ones began to kill our power and block our radios."

Taerys took the helmet under her other arm, flexing the other one out slightly. She felt so useless just standing around here. She wasn't used to it at all. Her edginess was only accentuated by the fact that there were so many strangers around her, some of whom were still checking her out every now and then, only to pretend that they weren't looking whenever the Varyx noticed them. Clearly it wasn't just her who was uneasy. "If you've held out for this long, I'm sure we can figure something out before they can get through." Taerys shrugged lightly. "And anyway, everything can die. These things are no exception to that."

The man returned the solemn look, but it was even graver, "They have been dying, then then keep coming. Each night we lose something. Whether it's defenses or people. We can't hold out much longer." He let out a pained sigh and turned to look the wall, it was meager and partly broken, but it's lowest part was a good ten feet off the ground. "Wait, how did you even get in? The walls should be complete."

All around the two everyone was bustling with their arms full or occupied. The closer the sun got to setting, the more frantic they all become, moving faster to load make-shift weapons and weld plates onto the broke parts of the walls.

"We'll find a way, just so long as my team makes it." Taerys replied, staring out into the almost never-ending abyss of impending darkness. She muttered a few curses in Varaxian. The young Varyx wasn't sure exactly what to expect, but she knew that they probably wouldn't be hard to miss. That, and they'd be coming right for the colony anyway. "I found a small opening in a part of the wall, but I doubt anyone larger than me could get through it." She remarked casually. The wall was large enough that a small thing like that wouldn't really make a difference, especially not if It was just going to get hammered down soon anyway.

Rennac looked back to Hay, falling back a step to get close. "Listen, just because the radio cut out on the colony and made it go dark doesn't necessarily mean it was marauders or something. Could be some local abnormal phenomenon that was causing the electronics to go haywire. We still expect them, but if there's a chance Taerys found safe haven there I think we should take it while still being ready for trouble, right?"

Once Tearys said that there was a hole, every last pigment of color in the man's face faded and he turned with enough force to crack his neck, "Yeth! Mac! Jique! Find that fucking hole and plug it now!"

The people a round were also struck with fear and the ones he called ran off as fast as their legs would carry them. Several more even joined in to chase after and help them.

The sun was falling farther, they had maybe a hour before it was time and they were less ready by the moment.

Hay shifted awkwardly, moving a bit closer to Ryder. He was carrying Varus, but Ryder was still the most threatening person here and he could still carry the both of them if need be. "I know, we need to know, but still. What if it isn't save? What then?"

Rennac didn't even skip a beat with his response. "Stab first, shoot second, slit a throat here and there, and ask the last survivor what they were doing there with a knife against their throat. Surprising how talkative someone can get with a knife at their windpipe." The wolf mused about the reason in his head for a few minutes, having gotten long used to taking another person's life without hesitation.

"Did I or did I not tell you to be quiet?" Jackdaw hissed back at Rennac and Hay as they approached the wall of the colony. "We need to find a way in, or through. If activity picks up in there we're going to drop the subtlety."

Looking up, she knew she could scale the wall easily enough, though not quietly. Besides, if she left the others, she was sure Hay and Varus would be killed, possibly Rennac and Six, and if anything big struck, Ryder would go down with them. The options that left were few, but sure; they had to get inside and get this done. She might even look for whatever was left of Taerys, see if they could bring anything back for a proper burial.

If she was dead, of course.

Six trailed along, sticking close to Jackdaw near the front of the group, staying silent. He rolled his eyes under the helmet at Rennac--for a techie he sure had a violent mind. Damn, Six was a trained assassin and not even he was so bloodthirsty. Six was observant, he'd caught the man's scorn after they landed, he could tell the canine didn't like their arguing before--and yet he talked so quickly about the slaughter of potential innocents without batting an eye, still expecting their trust? Just another instance of wishing his partner was with him--he didn't know how anyone could feel safe here without allies, no wonder the feline was so eager to get away from the lot.

They got to the wall, and Six turned to Jack, figuring if there was any time to offer up his expendable self, it was now: "I could go in, check for Taerys, report back? Boost me up over it, I can land silently."

Rennac thought about what he said with a bit of resentment, figuring the others interpreted that as his actions whether the locals were peaceful or not. Of COURSE he wouldn't slaughter the people if they were the colonists. It was simply a matter of common sense. Still, being a bit cynical came with the job, since things had a way of going sideways at the worst times.

Soon enough they arrived at the wall, looking around for one of the gates before seeing one that looked to be sealed. He quietly moved closer to Jack and whispered. "Got a door just over there. Could hack it and open it just long enough to get in and shut it before a potential patrol comes by."

Jackdaw waved Six down when Rennac pointed out the door. At this point she figured it would be better if they all went in together rather than feed themselves to whatever was inside in single file.

"Get it done," she said to Rennac, then made her way over to the door and motioned for the others to follow.

She turned her aim back out to the wastes. Just because they knew something was inside didn't mean that there was nothing outside as well. She hoped Rennac was as good as he claimed to be with this stuff, she didn't want to be out in the open any longer than she needed to be.

Once again, Taerys stood there in silence and watched the assortment of different species near her scrambling around. "Wait! If you seal that off then my team won't be able to get in." The Varyx grabbed the human by the shoulder, turning the man so that he faced her. "They'll be here soon. There's a reason as to why they're on the Argent Dawn." She stepped back a little, taking her hand off his shoulder and put her helmet back on, clicking it into place. "How long can you spare?" She stared straight into the man's eyes with her gaze stoic and unfaltering, though it was impossible to tell underneath the tinted pane of the helmet.

Whenever Rennac tried to hack into the door, it wouldn't even respond, it's power was gone and even is he tried a power transfer, it would die quickly and wouldn't budge and inch.

The man Tearys was speaking to didn't even indulge her, "Nothing. Go seal the hole now!" He shouted to the men who never even broke their stride for a moment.

Back by the door, a woman was walking towards it when she saw a massive head almost eye level with the fifteen foot wall. Her first instinct was to shoot it, but then she recalled that a team was to meet them here and she called out, "I found them! They are at the gate! Quickly get let's get them in!"

Several more people came over to the wall to look down at the group, but about four others ran to the inside of the door, tugging at chains and cranking wheels to slowly drag the door up on it's rails. Progress was slow as a snail, but at least the door was being opened.

Ryder tilted his head, confused at what was going on, but they seemed friendly enough.

Hay on the other hand was rather frantic, basically hugging Ryder's leg, "Guys, this isn't right..." These strangers knew they were coming and were opening the door for them. It wasn't normal and it was most likely a trap. Tearys was caught and they were luring them in to be killed.
