I have played d&d like roleplays like the 13th age so would that be similar to dragon age?

Neh, not really. Let me give you a run down starting with the races.

Humans: Bogstandard as usual. Most numerous race on the planet, lots of variety but usually if there's a problem you can trace it back to them.

Elves: Most live as either second-class citizen in human cities or roaming nomads in the forest. Formerly a dominate species, but humans nearly drove them to extinction. Also notably, they are incapable of giving birth to "Half-Elves"; if there's matting between a human and elf, it will always be human. It sort of hurts the human/elf relations.

Dwarves: Dwellers of the deep with a highly strict caste system (Divided mostly between the Warrior, Noble, Merchant, Servant, and the Casteless). They only have one major city, as the rest of their underground empire have been overrun by the Darkspawn.

Darkspawn: Your go-to race for evil horde monsters. Think orcs. The most numerous race, greater in number than even the humans. A constant threat, though usually all their infighting at least keeps them underground and makes them the dwarve's problem. Unless there's an Archdemon.

Qunari: A fairly new race to show their face, most of them are large horned humanoids. The Qunari actually refer to people who follow a certain religion. Most of them are "Kossith", the huge horned humanoids. Qunari are one of the more technologically advanced races, with access to gunpowder. Most have a burning hatred of magic.

Mages: Worth getting their own race deception since only certain people can become mages. It's usually hereditary, but there no way one can "Become" a mage, they are simply born as one. They can be Human, Elves, or Qunari. Dwarves don't seem to be able to use magic powers due to living close to Lyrium, which in it's unrefined state absorbs magic energy. Or something. Mages are often subjected to living under constant surveillance and prejudice around the world, even with it's one nation where mages are more accepted are still hated due to their reputation of being power-hungry and all too willing to resort to using their magic to harm those who think differently from them. Individuals differ of course.

There are also certain factions you might want to know about.

Chantry: The dominate religion in most nations where are are humans. They preach the Chant of Light which is about the Maker (The suppose creator of the world) and hold a certain disdain towards magic, mostly about how it needs to be controlled and regulated for the safety of the world. The Chantry has different branches that handles different problems, like the Seekers and the Templars.

Templars watch over the mages. Or rather, they are there to make sure if any mages fall out of line, they are quickly put back into line or killed. Templars have a nasty reputation for being very "Anti-Magic", and it's true, if only because it's part of the job description. Their job really is to fight and combat mages in the event that the mages ever decide to band together and fight for whatever reason.

Seekers are like the spies of the Chantry. They serve as informants and agents for the Chantry when sending Templars are a bit too much. They don't quite share the Templar's hardline attitude towards mages, some might not even have much faith in the Chantry at all, but baring a few traitors their loyalty lies with them anyways.

Grey Wardens: An order of powerful fighters who's purpose is the fight the Darkspawn. They accept anyone into their ranks regardless of race, occupation, or history. Elite warriors and peerless strategist, but also politically neutral. The only thing they're concerned with is fighting the Dark Spawn; anything else is none of their business, and they would prefer it to stay that way.

Mage Circle: Sanctioned by the Chantry, these are your mages who work with the Chantry in order to ensure that other mages under their watch are treated well and with respect. Lead by the First Enchanter, they ensure that mages are properly taught and trained to use their powers responsibly, though not all mage circles share the same ideals.

Apostates: Not so much an organization as much as a label, these are mages who operate outside of the Chantry. The Chantry would have you believe that Apostates are evil-mages who make contracts with demons and use blood magic for their own means, and to be fair, there are a lot of Apostates like that. But in it's simplest form Apostates are just mages who don't work for the Chantry. They'll still be persecuted by the Templars, though some Apostates who don't succumb to the siren call of demons are usually sympathetic.

And that's just what I'm going to bother to explain. Here's a TvTrope page to it's first game if you want more detail.

Name/Aliases: Karine Madeleine "The Morning Star"
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Age: 29
Appearance:

Class: Warrior
Specialization: Templar
Equipment: Karine wears her Chevalier armor made of the highest quality steel, but retains both her Morning Star and Shield from her time as a Templar, both which have been enchanted to be very effective against mages. She also carries a Flamberg Zweihänder, which while functional in general purpose combat, she usually reserves for duels or one-on-one combat. May occasionally carry bows and arrows depending on the situation, but more often than not she goes without. She carries a few salves, poultices, and droughts for herself or others as well. Lastly, Karine is quite wealthy, and would often have a coin purse with much gold inside of it. To prevent pickpockets from stealing it, she usually has it inside of her armor.
Personality: Karine is a fight-happy blood knight. She is chivalrous in her own way generally tries not to use her status to sway anything; she wants to prove that she is worthy of her gifts and titles through her skills and not her birthright. And hates others who would try to use their family name to get their way. She selfish and often does whatever she wants, regardless of the rules, but she has her standards. She likes to be around people and trying to talk and understand them, if only so that way it's more personal when she will inevitably challenge them to a fight. Her entire life seems to revolve around combat, and she loves every minute of it.
Origin: Karine was born with a silver spoon. Her father was a Templar in Orlais while her mother was a noble woman, who's family was well connected to the Chantry. Karine's father was a well respected Templar who himself was well liked by his superiors and even a few mages respected his reasonable authority. Karine took up much after her father, much to her mother's displeasure, but when she was pregnant and gave birth to a son, she was much more lenient to her daughter's activities.

Her father was thrilled to have his daughter to become a Templar. He personally felt that the current management was, at best, dutiful, but more often than not blinded by principles and laws rather than upholding the ideals they were made for. He personally trained Karine himself to ensure that she did not have to go through with augmenting her powers with Lyrium, like he did. This actually made her a much more skilled Templar than usual, as without the additional benefits of Lyrium, she had to become much more skilled in battle. But despite being trained by her own father, Karine did not exactly inherit his ideals.

As a young girl, Karine was always a rather commanding child. She would order around others younger and older than her, stronger too, but she never backed down, never showed fear. Sure she may have been beaten a few times, but she had the determination to keep on going. More importantly, she also liked getting into those fights as a child as well. She relished in the blood-rush of violence and combat. She saw her father not so much as a heroic savior against those who would abuse magic so much as a warrior who gets to fight powerful things, like mages and demons. She cared little of the Chantry so much as the chance to fight against powerful enemies and coming out on top. Even as she trained to become a Templar, these ideals remained.

Eventually Karine finished her training and joined the Templar Order... For a short while. She was loyal enough to the Chantry and hunted down her own share of mages, some of whom posed no challenge at all, but she did get to fight against a few Blood Mages and the demons they summoned, which she considers the best moments as her life as a Templar. But for the most part, watching over the mages in the Circle was boring; only one or two would try to run every year or so, and very few even turn to blood magic before she crushes their heads with her morning star. It was boring. Her father told her that it was her duty to protect and serve the Chantry and it's believers, but Karine cared little for it. She wanted to fight, to defeat powerful enemies and flee the blood flowing through her body and out her wounds. That's when she remembered her mother.

On Karine mother's side, she had many ancestors who were "Chevaliers", noble and skilled knights of Orlais. More importantly, they were often sent out to battle on behalf of the Empress, and they get to duel each other for honor and entertainment. This sounded much more appealing than waiting around for a mage to try to run away from the Circle, so Karine had her father and mother pull some strings to allow her to undergo Chevalier Training. Unlike her Templar training, which her father oversaw, her training as a Chevalier was much more brutal and unforgiving. And she loved ever minute of it. When she eventually became a Chevalier, she was one of the best. The only reason she could not take a higher authority was simply because she cared little of the responsibilities and was more interested in challenging others to duels, those who did not believe that she worthy of the title of Chevalier or Templar.

Even now Karine has a bit of a reputation in Orlais, more so in her home city of Val Royeaux. She has the reputation of being one of the more skilled Chevaliers as well as being a member of the Templar Order, but gossip would also tell you that she has a short temper and would demand duels from you simply for being arrogant, boastful, or generally an annoyance to her. She is respected for her skill but hated for her personality, as many would think that she would fit better in the lands of Ferelden than the courts of Orlais. Karine would actually agree to this sediment, and wishes to one day fight the strongest warriors from those lands. Currently left her home of Orlais to search for new challenges, which has taken her to the Tevintar Imperium.
Other: Despite being a Templar, she never really had much faith in the Chantry, though if made to pick a side, she'd still side with them. If only because mages offer a better challenge than Templars. Personally she doesn't have much interest in the mage-hate; so long as none in particular bother her, she has no reason to hate them. Generally she does not trust demons or fade spirits and has a "Kill-on-sight" mentality with them, more so if she discovers she's been manipulated by them in some way. She has a pearl stallion with a golden mane. It has steel armor, and upon it's head was a horn as sharp as a sword. His name is Benedictus.

Name/Aliases: Orin The Wild
Race: Human
Gender: male
Age: 21
Appearance:

his bear Borix
Class: rogue
Specialization: ranger
Equipment: He wears leather padding for light armor so it doesn't hinder his speed and his cloak is pretty good at protecting him from the rain and cold. For weapons he duel wields two short swords, and finally has a dagger and a longbow along with a few dozen arrows.
Personality: Because he has spent most of his life in a small settlement in a forest, Orin does not particularly like the company of city dwelling people. He is a bot on the wild side and is very independent, he prefers to not have to take orders from others. He has deep respect for nature and the animals that live in the environment of nature . Orin despises people who cut down trees in excessive amounts and he hates people who hunt simply for sport and don't pay their respects to the hunted animal. He has a close bond with his animal companion the bear Borix.
Origin: Orin was born in a small woodland village that wasn't very connected to the outside world and most of its citizens didn't feel the need to. Orin was different in the sense that he liked the thrill of adventures and exploring the wide world. His childhood was spent mostly learning how to hunt and honing in his skills with the bow. When he was 18 he left his village and became a Ranger. Not too long after that, he ran into his future animal companion Borix the brown bear. The animal had caught in a gang of poachers' trap and angered by the act, Orin freed the bear and the two of them took vengeance on the poachers. After that, him and the bear became good friends and went on many adventures. Now he has been called by evinter Magister, Lady Vasilia Sanguina to help retrieve an artifact of magical power, and Orin hopes that there is a reward in it for completing the task.
Other: he hates vegetables and loves meat. Borix is very intelligent for a bear and is incredibly brave and will follow Orin basically anywhere.

If you're expecting conflicts regarding the morality of keeping mages in the circle, you're going to be disappointed. Karine doesn't care about that. Now if you want to fight her on the other hand, she's totally game for it, after they share a round of drinks and maybe a tumble between the sheets.

Yog Sothoth: Orin looks alright he's in, but remember to ask when you don't know what is going on regarding lore or what not.

Ryonara: Hmmm a few things. One is the bow, I just want to make sure that each class sticks to it's role and a ranged warrior seems odd to me but I'll just let it slide as long as she isn't you know sniping people in battle. Second is her lack of lyrium, as my understanding of it is that it is lyrium that gives Templar's their abilities. But besides those things I like her, it gives me ideas of taking the group to Orlais and having them take part in the grand game.

The bow was something she learned as a Chevalier but not something she really uses aside from hunting animals. As for the Lyrium Addiction, it helps hone a Templar's skills, but it's not required. Alistair for example never needed it. It helps that her father was a Templar who used Lyrium, and he doesn't want his daughter to go through the same thing he did. While this does mean her Templar skills aren't as great as some, she makes up for with more conventional martial ability. Because aside from the anti-magical abilities, a Templar is still just a man in plate armor.

That was because Alistair joined the Gray Wardens before he took his vows as a Templar and thus take lyrium. As a Templar you only take lyrium if you complete your training if I remember correctly.

Well, Karine could thank Nepotism for allowing her to avoid that fate. As much as she dislikes it, she will admit that she'd never get as far as she has if she didn't have parents who loved her.

Still I can see the bow being a problem as that another player's main weapon seems is a bow, to me its like if I just had my mage running around hacking people up with a great sword, so try to be carful with it. Also I'm willing to let the lyrium slid, though the Chantry would of been royal pissed at both her and her father for not using it, but understand she won't have the Templar's strong resistance to magic.

What I read about Tevinter on the dragon age wikia, it doesn't mention anything about how the country feel about the templars. What I can think of is that the templars mostly avoid Tevinter because of how its ruled by mages or that they have no power to take their mages. I know that their version of the Chantry, blames the old gods not the magisters that tainted the golden city and came back as the first darkspawn, and their Chantry was created to oppose the Chantry. Seeing that their divine is a male and not a female.
