I want to get a crew together, and take a ship on an exploration mission for the federation towards the gamma quadrant.

We will spend some time in known federation space, and then start encountering never before seen planets and species. all members of the RP will be encouraged to come up with new things for us to discover and see.

I think we will have 2 characters per person, one essential (like XO, departments heads) and one non-essential (random ensigns and NCOs) each. i'll post a list of essentials in the OOC and what rank they will be, and the non-essential can be any NCO rank or Ensign.

I'll get more information together about the ship and everything in a OOC if there is interest.

Now for a more detailed, Interest check here in the section in which it will be run. I'll try not to repeat myself, just add more info.

The Ship

• Akira Class using these specs - http://techspecs.acalltoduty.com/akira.html - built at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yard, Mars.
• Originally built for the war effort, not completed until after the end of the war.
• Re-purposed for exploration.
• USS Cutlass (in accordance with the tradition of naming Akira Class ships after swords)

The Mission

Straight out of the Fleet yards the USS Cutlass is being sent to expand the Federation's knowledge of the galaxy through exploration and diplomacy. We Have been Ordered to make our way out of Federation space through the Alpha Quadrant in the direction of the Gamma Quadrant.

In order, to avoid the Breen Confederacy we will be traveling 250 light years along the Alpha/Beta Border and then setting course for Denab, near the edge of known space (according to Star Trek: Star Charts by Geoffrey Mandel, which we will be using through out this adventure, at least until we are out of known space) ((i know Denab is unexplored by the United Federation of Planets as of 2379 (according to a deleted scene from Nemesis), but we are going to ignore that :P it wont be a big bit of the story anyway))

Feel free to ask questions, i've probably missed something, or made a mistake with the Trek universe somewhere. We will probably ignore a few bits of canon (like the Denab thing) so please dont be too picky about details, but if you think it is something that cant be ignored please let me know via PM and i'll try to sort it out :D

So who's up for it? (anyone from the other interest check please post again here so i can keep track of numbers

You're thinking of the Saber-class. Since I don't see how Akira or Thunderchild relate to swords.

The Sword thing isnt canon, sorry, I was going with the ships from that RP I got that spec sheet from, its Akiras are named for swords. I had the spec and memory alpha open at the same time and got mixed up. We can change it, but it wont make much difference.

To be honest I didn't really get into DS9 so canon on the Dominion War is not that important to me. As long as we have the general feel of the series I'll be happy.

I'd be interested! I don't have as much knowledge of specific canon as I'd like although I've watched at least parts of every series, so any tweaking is fine with me as well as long as it's within reason.

A true believer here and lover of all things Trek
No Worries on continuity here as long as we don't stray into Jedi territory

Oh an I know it's jumping the gun a bit but I'd love to stake claim to the CMO position

Guess I need to start thinking what I want to do.

Remember, I would like everyone to have 2 characters, one major and one minor.

I'm going to make up the OOC tomorrow afternoon (GMT). Six players and twelve characters will be enough I think.

I will be Captain. The other major positions are (with ranks) in no particular order:

• First Officer - Commander
• Chief Security Officer (Second Officer) - Lieutenant commander
• Chief Engineer - Lieutenant
• Chief Medical Officer - Dr, Commander
• Chief Science Officer - Lieutenant
• Senior Flight Controller - Lieutenant Junior Grade
• Counselor - Dr, Lieutenant
• Chief Operations (Ops) Officer - Lieutenant Junior Grade

some of these will be NPCs , but its better if you guys get some freedom of choice in the matter. Oh and if you think there is a position that should be on the list, that isn't, let me know, its late and I'm tired :P
The Captain, First Officer and Second Officer will each be in command for one of the 3 duty shifts.

And as i think I said in the OP, the highest rank your secondary character can have is Ensign, but I hope you are not all going to go for the highest rank you can.

I'd love to be ship's counselor if I can! That would just make my day.

Probably Engineer, I think.

Okay, I'm up for grabbing duh CSO! :D Also, shouldn't the CSO also have the Dr. title? I assume someone serving as the Chief of anything scientifically related should have a Ph.D or equivalent. :o

I'd like to suggest that secondary Characters be NonComs
So seldom do you see the noncoms played as characters when in fact like most naval vessels they make up two thirds or more of the crew

Chief O'Brian was the only one represented in the TNG an DS9

As far as I know there's only a precedent for CMOs holding Doctorates.

Ok so im starting work on the OOC now. All claims will be on a first come first served basis, so if you want a part then post your character sheet for it ASAP. The OOC will have a CS template so please stick to it. I'm glad none of you have posted characters here using your own CS templates (yes that has happened to me before).

P.S. - anyone else notice that quotes are a bit messed up?

Yeah, quotes strip out line breaks and anything enclosed in BBCode.
