Darkstar

Welcome to Darkstar! This roleplay is about a team of unique individuals found throughout the galaxy who unite to take down a common foe: Gortex. However, this roleplay is about the journey, not the destination. Each player-character has a personal goal (or a set of personal goals) that they wish to fulfill, but they're going to require the help of their new-found allies to accomplish them. Another important factor is that each character's history is hidden, so it will only be revealed via IC in that particular character's dialogue. In this sense, the characters will gradually learn about each other, interact with each other, and will be forced to rely on each other to complete their objectives.

Each player-character, in some way or another, has been affected by Gortex. What he did to you is entirely up to you, but your character harbors some sort of resentment toward him. Whether he hurt you, stole from you, cheated you, killed your family, whatever. This is the prime reason our characters actually decide to work together - to take down a common foe. Gortex is, or at least he was, an alien warlord of a now-extinct alien species (Gortex being the last of his kind). He is now the leader of the powerful Black Moons, a mercenary-turned-terrorist organization; however, his grasp expands all across the galaxy. Six (my character) is a bounty hunter working for the mysterious Dax Strattix, CEO of Strattix Inc; Six has been working against Gortex for three years but he alone isn't enough to stop him. At the request of Dax, Six decides to recruit the most talented individuals throughout the galaxy to help him take down Gortex - and that just happens to be YOU. Dax Strattix provides Six with Starhawk, a highly-advanced spacecraft designed specifically for Darkstar.

@HeatUmm.... This is just my opinion, so take it as you will, but uhh..... your character seems just a bit too picture perfect if you get what I'm saying. I mean his skills practically read he's super amazing at everything, from shooting a gun to piloting a spacecraft.... I don't know, just thought I would give you a fair heads up. Still a cool cat.

Except he actually has some pretty obvious weaknesses that will be revealed in the IC since we're not supposed to reveal much in the character sheet.

@LadyKnight4: Corvais is the most populated planet. It is a large planet covered in huge, highly-advanced cities. It suffered heavy explosions 13 years ago during the Corvais Wars. 3 years after those bombings the last battle of the war also occurred there, and so there were some losses then. However, that was 10 or more years ago, so it's been 'fixed' to say the least. But yeah, it's reminiscent of Coruscant from Star Wars or it's like the Citadel from Mass Effect. It is the capital planet of the Republic of Corvais, an economic center for that portion of the galaxy, and contains the headquarters for the Republic's Military, many guilds, as well as businesses.

Also, Six is just looking for anyone who he thinks would be an asset to the team. But he knows those specific individuals must also have some sort of reason to join the team. I doubt anyone would randomly join a random team to take out someone as dangerous as Gortex. So Six was given the locations/dossiers of talented individuals, and he's handpicked the ones he thinks will prove to be an asset to his cause, who would be you guys.

@HellOfALife: I will allow two characters, but only cause you asked. I know some people like doing two characters, especially me, and so I don't want to rule that out. If you think you can handle it, go ahead. And any sort of illustration/picture is fine for use. I usually just provide details, not pictures, but I ain't from around here anyway.

@Derpenstein: That'd be fine. The sort of superhero-like aspects was something I was wanting to see, and telekinesis is like a superpower, so it works.

@Everybody: So far so good, but I only did quick skims of characters. Will give further readings at a later date.

Ugh, I can't find a good pic.

I'm going for a telekinetic species. Maybe extra-terrestrial, maybe a subspecies of human. Idk.

But I can't find a good picture for the race. I'm thinking they have horns as sort of antennae to properly use their telekinetic powers.

If you're looking for something with horns, you might try looking for art of a mythical creature that would be similar? Or just google image search something pretty basic like "girl with horns" and go from there?

2nd page. Always forget to check the 2nd page.

I'm glad about the enthusiasm for this RP, but I just wish I had more time for it. I'll really try to get an IC this Saturday or Sunday, depending on how many CS's I have.

Name: Mortimer

Personal: Male, Human(ish), and really really old (looks like he's a man in his physical prime)

Appearance: Six foot one inch tall and one hundred sixty-seven pounds of finely toned sinew, Mortimer still looks too thin to be as strong as he is, but makes a point of staying in peak shape. Some say it is because of simple vanity, but those more initiated into the ways of magic know the truth. He most often wears tailored suits under one of his favorite longcoats, and carries little in the way of supplies apart from no less than three wands (though the number can reach as high as seven). Beneath his clothing, which is always crisp and clean, his skin is rife with hair-thin scars, almost unnoticeable to the average observer, but nevertheless indicative of a harsh life. His dark hair is often left uncombed, and if he chooses to grow a beard he never allows it to remain ungroomed like the wizards of olde.

Apparel A variety of tailored suits and several favored longcoats are his preferred garb, and he rarely leaves The Tower without them.

Weaponry: A magical walking stick that helps focus his powers, a wizard's staff that makes his spells more powerful, and seven wands of various uses. In no particular order, they are the fire wand, the ice wand, the universal wand, the plant wand, the animal wand, the weather wand, and the dark wand. Each wand allows for greater control and capability in its area of endowment.

Other: He likes flowers, cashews, fresh baked bread, cats, most fruit, magical artifacts, fresh sauté'd green beans, and chicken. Hates mushrooms, onions, politicians, people who abuse their power, using guns, and clothes that chafe.

Starfighter: The Tower. Not really a starfighter in the strictest sense, or actually in any sense at all for that matter, The Tower is only marginally larger than your average doorway, four feet wide and seven tall with a depth of only a few inches, though its external size is deceptive. Due to being a vessel that exists primarily in the dark dimension, The Tower's interior is much larger than the exterior should allow (especially since the exterior is usually only a set of double doors), and indeed it houses an entire alchemical lab, a fully equipped arcaneum, a well-stocked library, and living quarters for six. What it doesn't have, is any visible form of propulsion or weaponry (what with being just a door). Instead, it pulls itself entirely into the dark dimension when travel is required, disappearing from the normal dimension entirely, and then subsequently re-appearing at its destination. When not traversing through the dark dimension, it generally takes the form of a very small stone tower so as not to appear as just a door floating through space (because a stone tower is so much less conspicuous) and can also propel itself via the manipulation of gravity and electromagnetism, though its appearance is truthful at least about the lack of weaponry. It possesses no form of offensive capability (apart from the wizard it carries), but the defenses that compensate for this deficiency are quite formidable.

Skills
Martial Arts - Both as a means of acquiring knowledge and as a means of maintaining peak physical fitness, Mortimer has engaged in the extensive and exhaustive study of every martial arts form he has encountered over the course of his long life, though to say he is an expert in all of them (or even most of them) would be vastly overstating the truth. In actuality, he merely obtains the skills long enough to determine which are worth keeping (as well as committing the rest to intellectual memory), and then adds them to his own personal style, which has been in development for as long as he's been training (an extremely long time).

Abilities:
Genius Intellect - While most of his mind is dedicated to mystical pursuits, he is nevertheless well-versed in a wide variety of subjects, having devoted at least one-tenth of his life to the study of things that lie outside the realm of the arcane. He may be no expert on subjects such as medicine, warfare, quantum physics, mathematics, or even just normal living, but he generally knows enough to get by, and he can learn at a rate that puts even the fastest of computers to shame.

Willpower - Mortimer is a man possessed of a phenomenal willpower, and his mind is all but impossible to break, even under the cruelest of tortures or the most powerful of telepathic assaults. It is, at least partially, because of this extreme willpower that he is able to harness the mystical forces of the arcane as easily and powerfully as he can, and this level of willpower in combination with his magical abilities is what has kept him alive for so long. He is simply too stubborn to grow old and die.

Natural Magic - The manipulation of the seen world through the application of sheer mental force (and a lot of natural affinity for it). Mortimers mind, as well as that of any other true wizards, is unnaturally attuned to the natural forces of the universe around him, allowing him to both sense and manipulate its energies. For any wizard, the manipulation of their own energies comes most easily to them, and they are able to not only guide and control these energies, but also magnify and reduce them for a variety of effects. Only once a wizard has suitably mastered his own energies is he allowed to move on to those of the world around him. This second level of manipulation is more difficult than the first and deals with the ambient forces of the universe, though due to the increased level of available energy it can be much more powerful. The third and most difficult aspect of natural magic is the manipulation of the energy created by other beings, and only the highest order of wizard is allowed to learn these abilities. In order to be trained in their use, a wizard must first show great compassion for all life and even greater wisdom, as while this form of magic is even more difficult and taxing, it is also extremely tempting to misuse. Regardless of which level of natural magic a wizard uses, however, one can never create something from nothing, only manipulate that which already exists.

Dark Magic - The manipulation of dark matter and energy, that which makes up all the unseen portions of the universe. This form of magic is by far the most powerful, being able to seemingly create something from nothing, yet is also the most difficult to learn and practice, and the most tempting to misuse. Apart from indirect use as a means of travel via The Tower (as well as its use during The Tower's creation), Mortimer staunchly avoids the use of this form of magic whenever he can, which is almost all the time, in order to avoid succumbing to its temptations.

Word-of-Mouth: Most beings that have seen him report that he arrives when he's needed, does what he must, and leaves before they have a chance to thank him. His Tower, being the only vessel of its kind in the entire universe, is instantly recognizeable almost anywhere it appears, and has had sightings recorded as far back as the twenty-third century. The impression he tends to leave behind is usually one of awe mixed with fear mixed with adoration mixed with a hint of jealousy and occasionally dislike, but by and large he is known as a man that will go out of his way to help those that ask and do it without expecting anything in return (think of The Doctor mixed with Stephen Strange and you're on the right track).

Name: Kiril Genome

Age: 16

Gender:Male

Appearance: Kiril has the appearance of a perfectly normal male human of his age, save for the natural streaks of cyan in his otherwise platinum blonde hair, and his neon green eyes. He is apparently something of a late bloomer, as he is slight in build, with soft, childlike features, and is 64 inches tall on a good day. Despite his otherwise underdeveloped appearance, his gaze his hard and knowing, as though his eyes were those of someone decades older. His multicolor hair hangs in a loose shag to the bottom of his neck, and Kiril's pale skin is marred only by a few minor scars on his hands and forearms, as well as a larger one at the base of his head, mostly hidden by hair.

Apparel: When piloting, Kiril wears a black flightsuit of his own design. It is form-fitting and very sleek, with metal elements designed to secure him into and interface with the cockpit of the Star Vampire, as well as built-in life-support systems. He also wears a matching hermetically-sealed helmet with a tinted visor, which syncs with the Star Vampire's instruments to provide a HUD should the primary display go down.

Otherwise, he simply wears comfortable clothes, usually shorts, sneakers and an oversized hoodie. He owns a pair of welding goggles that he sometimes done to work on machinery, and then forgets to remove.

Equipment: Aside from simple engineering tools, Kiril only really carries his cellular phone. As a high-end model, it has numerous applications and functions, making it a surprisingly versatile tool.

Starfighter: Kiril's personal starfighter is the Star Vampire, a completely custom craft of his own design and construction. Extremely compact, the Star Vampire is only about a third the size of a normal starfighter, and its cockpit only seats a single person about Kiril's size.

Much like its pilot, the Star Vampire is far mightier than its size suggests. Its ion-pulse "Phobic Animus" propulsion system grants it prodigious speed and such a high degree of maneuverability that only a highly skilled pilot can even handle it without crashing. The Phobic Animus performs equally well in space, air and water, and its energy emissions are so low as to be barely detectable. The Star Vampire is FTL capable, but only in short jumps, with a battery recharge shortly after.

However, the most advanced system within the Star Vampire is its "Cor Leonis" computer, which can detect and plot the trajectory of anything from an enemy ship to a laser beam. This works in tandem with the fighter's "Ivonis" shield system, allowing any projectile to be deflected from the most optimal angle with perfect timing, creating a highly efficient and effective field of protection. However, the Cor Leonis is incomplete, and its more advanced functions require the pilot to do a considerable portion of the advanced calculations.

The Star Vampire is not merely a high-spec fighter; it has the ability to transform into a mecha for combat. In this form, it retains the advantages of the Cor Leonis and the Ivonis shields, but trades its speed and maneuverability for firepower. Its primary weapon is a chest-mounted laser called the "Hydra," which can either be fired as a single, powerful blast, or refracted into numerous, smaller beams. The Star Vampire's other weapons include plasma casters, hadron cannons, chaff missiles and grappling harpoons.

Skills: Kiril is, to put it bluntly, a genius. His intellect, calculating ability, and information retention all push the boundary of human capability. He can pick up most skills in a matter of hours, and perform better than whoever taught him by the next day. Kiril's talents mostly reside within the fields of particle and astrophysics and computer, mechanical and aerospace engineering, in which he is a certifiable prodigy.

Kiril is also an extremely talented starfighter pilot, able to outperform veterans triple his age. He is also a decent hacker, and has some knowledge of genetic engineering.

Abilities: While anyone can tell that Kiril is not an average human, closer examination reveals that he is actually noticeably distinct in his anatomy and neurology. He has a very powerful sense of spacial awareness, and his reflexes are so sharp that they border on the procognitive. His cardiovascular system is also surprisingly strong, allowing him to withstand incredible G-forces without losing consciousness.

Among more abstract abilities, Kiril is seemingly something of an empath, able to sense thr emotions of others, and tell friend from foe on instinct. While it has yet to be recorded, when in emotional distress Kiril radiates an intense, unknown energy, which at the moment only disturbs computer systems and energy-based projectiles.

Word-of-Mouth: The "Void Dragon" only hit the star-racing scene in the Deadzone a year ago, but he (if he even is a he) is already making huge waves. He has yet to be defeated in over twenty death-races, and his kill-count is already sky-high. As more people drop out of races in fear of him, just as many sign up for a chance to test their skills against this rising legend.

If you will have me, here is mine.

Tayla Westwood, or as she prefers to be called - Laika

Species and Apperance: She has no idea what species she is, but she knows she isn't human. She has dark green skin with deep maroon eyes, palms and soles. She always knew she was different by the large pair of bat-like wings on her back and the three tentacles that stretched back over her green scalp which she usually keeps plaited back and tied with a leather band. She has a pair of elf-like ears that stretch back for about 15cm and are about 8cm thick. She can move her ears as an emotion depictor - like a horse.
She wears a leather crop top, gauntlets, and pair of shorts and has a pair of very old, very worn boots she never takes off. She will occasionally be seen wearing her favourite deep red trench coat.

Character: She has liberal views and is not judgemental at all. She has seen bad people do bad things and is quite content as long as she is not in immediate danger. She is honest and dedicated to what she does - she other does something to the best of her ability, or she doesn't do it all.

History: Her history with Gortex is not known, however everyone who has met her knows she despises him to the depth of her DNA.

Skills and Weaponry: She is of average - intellect, with average strength. She has high stamina and prefers not to use guns. Instead she uses a sword and has three strapped to her left and two on her right. On the ends of each of her wings she has three curling fingers that can spit venom. The hilt of her sword is adapted specially for the three long, thin fingers she has on each hand. For her thin arms she pack quite a punch and has an incredibly strong kick if her leg can reach it's intended destination.
Laika is a hands-on person. She is good at getting manual work done, tracking and a good engineer. She has no interest in geography, but is very observant

She has revealed very little about her history. What we know is what we see and what has been found in her old deep green star fighter she nicknamed Nova. She lives in her fighter and all her possessions are strewn everywhere. It was discovered she loves to read and turns out to be highly educated. Her fighter is fast, extremely fast. But always breaking and Laika spends much of her time buried in the engine repairing or replacing parts. To get on her good side you must find what parts she needs the most and trade them to her. There is a rumour a lemur lives among the piles of paraphernalia in Laika's ship.

Name: Midas Pheoni-EX

Personal:
Age: 30
Model: C.C.D. Male
Gender: Male (male and female models were made)

Appearance: (Physical appearance, size, weight, scars, tattoos, etc)

He weighs 387 pounds and stands at exactly six feet tall. The stripe on the front of his face is golden coloured like most models and his other outer colour is dark dull grey. Midas has a gash on the side of his head that has been patched and welded up.

Apparel: He has a tattered hooded poncho made of very cheap but reliable material with gold accents near all edges like around the rims.

Weaponry:
The Midas Touch- Within and outside in tubes around Midas's body he has a metal found exclusively on his birth planet that has a very, vey low melting temperature to the point that it will stay in a molten state at deep space temperatures. This is used defensively for when an enemy were to cut into one of the line it would spill it surprisingly cold metal onto them possibly giving minor frostbite and defiantly throwing the enemy off guard. The metal has a very shiny gold like colour in its molten state.
Recalled Beast Claw Machine Attachment- In an attempt to gain some extra revenue Blastex developed their own claw machine games that they sold to any that would buy them but lots were trashed due to the fact that the claw on the machine would usually crush whatever it was trying to pick up from a stuffed animal to a trendy new communication device. The 'Beast' ,as Midas calls it, is now fixated over where his right hand once was and has the capabilities or turning 360 degrees and crushing anything in arms length with its immersive strength.
TK-3 Bandit pistol- A gun built for those who wish to infiltrate then pull out some massive fire power. The gun starts out looking like a small revolver type pistol but when charged with electricity from any energy source the barrel elongates and it begins to cook up some explosive energy rounds. It fires as fast as the user can shoot and ready the gun. When the 'bullets' collide with an object it'll not only heat up whatever it hits it will also begin to use Atomic manipulation to tear atoms away from each other to bore into softer material such as flesh.

Starfighter: The Elephant- the Elephant isn't the most advanced when it comes to technology. It's got parts that belong to a museum in it but non the less it a very reliable ship. What it lacks in speed it makes up for in defence with its top-of-the-line-three-years-ago Shielding coupled up with three other sets of shielding and a sturdy hull the ship can take a beating and likely be able to last through the onslaught of even some specially made attack ships. It basically looks like a dull orange van with rockets on the back, tinted windows and a more rugged-sci-fi look. For weapons The Elephant has its 'tusks' which are two white spikes crudely welded onto the front of the ship which is used for ramming if needed and there is also the standard ballistic round firing turret on the top. The ship also has a FTL drive in it. It can hold three people in the cockpit and eight more in the cargo.

Skills: Marksmanship- While he isn't the most accurate in shooting due to it not being one of his original functions he's still fairly decent at it.
Sharp eye- Very little can slip past Midas. His eyes are one of his greatest assets as he had to make sure he wasn't being scammed back when he was more merchant like.
Tank-like fighting style- He has grown very accustomed to his superior strength and as such has taken on a more tank like fighting style using heavy hits and swipes for attacks while also throwing things.

Abilities:
Hydralic upper torso- underneath his poncho there Midas has an Array of heavy duty Hydraulic lifts used to give him superior strength as to when he was originally built.
Little Suzy doll nuclear reactor- Midas has a miniature neckwear reactor inside of him from an old kids toy called a little Suzy doll. The little Suzy doll was just your average baby doll for little girls across the universe but was recalled when one little girl had a tantrum and threw her doll into the backyard, breaking the doll and causing her backyard to become a radiation zone. Most C.C.D.s needed to be kept at a constant power source as they did not have very long battery lives but Midas does not have this problem due to his mini nuclear reactor but now he has to shut down at night and 'sleep' due to the fact that if all his systems are always online and given a constant supply of power he would over heat and break down.
Calf pneumatic shocks- His shin to feet area have been replaced by pneumatic shocks so that one he can run as his built legs were meant for standing and walking not running, two they allow him to jump great heights and three they can pack a punch with kicking.
Explosive limb dislocation and relocation- When hit with an explosive projectile or what not depending on the amount of force Midas is hit with limbs will literally fly off in order to distribute the kinetic energy and avoid serious damage. After the limb flies off it is still able to operate but on its own rather than being a part of the entire being. Basically if an arm flies off it'll still move itself around but Midas won't have control over it.
R.H.I.N.O Armour plating- His outer metal is for the most part made from a very dense alloy that is able to withstand direct high speed ballistic gun fire but is still susceptible to armour piercing rounds.

Word-of-Mouth: (Short description that slightly details what your character is after; not necessarily your history, but this is something that someone may have heard about your character even though they may have never met them.). Rumours say that Midas was created from the remains of old C.C.D. bots and like the ones before it he became self aware and got off the planet to start a life of crime. Not much is know about what happened between the time he escaped and when he emerged in the Darkstar group but some say he is responsible for the grand robbery of Gortex but of course as everyone knows that Gortex supposedly blew that chap into pieces and took his stolen items back.

Species: Batteraxe Corp cashier Droids or 'C.C.D.'
General Appearance:

Homeworld: Batteraxe Corp Space station
Culture: Due to it being a programmed machine and not usually paired up with another of its kind the 'species' doesn't have any culture other than that of wherever they're working.
Religious Views: very few had religious views but those that did would have just about any view that seemed right to them. Some that were activated on the Batteraxe space station thought of the station as a holy place and for all is their equivalent of heaven.
History: C.C.D.s were a line of robot merchants developed by a small but up-and-coming company called Batteraxe corporation. The goal was to make robots that were better than any organic race at selling wares to people and in turn making your everyday merchant out of business. When the C.C.D. Line of robots came out they were bought for businesses all over the galaxy and put many people out of jobs. It was only five months before the C.C.D.s were recalled due to a growing majority of them gaining sentience and becoming self aware due to their advanced learning capabilities which were to be used to get better at communicating with locals and recognizing faces and voice tones. After Batteraxe recalled every last one of the C.C.D.s it filed for bankruptcy and dumped all the robots on a signal junkyard planet. That was where the C.C.D. Story should have ended but it did not for rumour has it that from the remains of the dead C.C.D.s a new one was made.
