Darkstar

Welcome to Darkstar! This roleplay is about a team of unique individuals found throughout the galaxy who unite to take down a common foe: Gortex. However, this roleplay is about the journey, not the destination. Each player-character has a personal goal (or a set of personal goals) that they wish to fulfill, but they're going to require the help of their new-found allies to accomplish them. Another important factor is that each character's history is hidden, so it will only be revealed via IC in that particular character's dialogue. In this sense, the characters will gradually learn about each other, interact with each other, and will be forced to rely on each other to complete their objectives.

Each player-character, in some or another, has been affected by Gortex. What he did to you is entirely up to you, but your character harbors some sort of resentment to him. Whether he hurt you, stole from you, cheated you, killed your family, whatever. This is the prime reason our characters actually decide to work together - to take down a common foe. Gortex is, or at least he was, an alien warlord of a now-extinct alien species (Gortex being the last of his kind). He is now the leader of the powerful Black Moons, a mercenary-turned-terrorist organization; however, his grasp expands all across the galaxy. Six (my character) is a bounty hunter working for the mysterious Dax Strattix, CEO of Strattix Inc; Six has been working against Gortex for three years but he alone isn't enough to stop him. At the request of Dax, Six decides to recruit the most talented individuals throughout the galaxy to help him take down Gortex - and that just happens to be YOU. Dax Strattix provides Six with Starhawk, a highly-advanced spacecraft designed specifically for Darkstar.

John Taylors

John Taylors, more commonly known as 'Six', is a 33 year old human male. John stands approximately 5'9, weighs 155 pounds, and has an athletically-built body build. He has an average Caucasian skin color, short brown hair, a rough stubble, and dark green eyes. A scar in the shape of a semi-circle goes around his left eye, which he is completely blind in, and it now looks like a milky, almost-gray color. He always seems to have a determined and observant facial expression.

Apparel
John wears a blue shirt, blue pants, a brown belt, and brown boots as casual wear. When going into combat he wears his Battle Armor, Battle Helmet, Gauntlets, and Propulsion Boots. The Battle Helmet is silver with blue accents and has two blue, round lenses for his eyes. The mouth-piece on the helmet resembles that of a gas-mask. the helmet can provide a heads-up display on the inside that can display important information on the go. The Battle Armor is a simple cuirass that provides basic protection for his torso, back, neck, and shoulders. It is also a silver-gray color. His right gauntlet allows him to store and fire mini-rockets while his left gauntlet holds a casing for his Strattix Cutter as well as allow communication with his allies. His Propulsion Boots secrete repuslors that can launch him several feet into the air; this helps him evade attacks, reach higher elevations, or he can use it to give him a speed boost; these boots cannot suspend him in the air for to long, however.

Weaponry and Gadgets
(2)Strattix Raptors, V7 - Six carries a pair of V7 Raptors, a sub-machine gun that can fire in a continuous stream or switched to become semi-automatic. It holds 30 rounds, and can be equipped with a silencer (but those are only used while in semi-automatic mode). They are very great at medium-close range.
High-Powered Strattix Experimental Sniper Rifle - Designed with Six in mind, this sniper rifle is able to fire an extremely powerful, accurate, and long-range ballistic shot. It can only hold one bullet in its chamber and must be reloaded by bolt after each shot. It has heavy recoil and almost always requires a bipod or tripod. In the hands of Six, the rifle is extremely great at far-range.
EMP Grenades - Six equips as many EMP's as he can. When necessary, they are able to disrupt or even disable electronic devices including but not limited to mechs, synthetics, gadgets, laser weapons, computers, and even vehicles.
Mini-Rockets - Six can store up to three mini-rockets in his right-gauntlet, and can carry more on his belt. They pop up out of his gauntlet and must be manually aimed.
Strattix Cutter Tool - Rod that emits high-intensity plasma-beam about the length of a knife. It can cut through metal and can be used in close-combat scenarios.

Skills and Abilities
Being a former soldier, Six became a weapons expert, tactician, and hand-to-hand combat expert. He can hold his own in a firefight, but his true skill lies in his ability to covertly infiltrate areas of interest, silently kill or capture specific individuals, sabotage structures or ships, and collect important information without being noticed. He attempts to avoid long, drawn-out gun battles as best as he can. His career as a bounty hunter has allowed him to hone his skills to track down, find, and subdue almost anyone in the galaxy.

Phoenix-6
Six's personal spacecraft is a starfighter called 'Phoenix-6'. The starfighter has a pod that can comfortably seat 2, although up to 2-3 others can ride in storage. Phoenix-6 has two wings that assist in landing on planets. Both wings are equipped with rapid-firing lasers, and a signature-seeking missile launcher is equipped on the underside of the pod. Phoenix-6 has a blue and white color scheme to it with the number '6' painted in black on both wings.

Word-of-Mouth
John Taylors joined the Republic's military at age 21, fought in the war until its end at age 24, and became a bounty hunter at age 31. It is unknown what his life was like before he became a soldier, and it is unknown what he did between the ages of 24 and 31. For the past 3 years (he is know 33) Six has become a ruthless and efficient bounty hunter working with Dax Strattix of Strattix Inc. Some of his actions has led the Republic to deem him a potential threat that must be arrested on sight.

Appearance:
Hair that is tinted a Salmon color, and fierce, feline like eyes. Raeli can be a sight to behold for many. The entirety of her body is mechanized, save for her face, spinal cord, brain stem, and crucial segments of her brain. Her body was crafted with some of the most durable metals known to the galaxy for combat purposes. Her body comes in two modes, recreational and combat. Recreational allows her skin to take on a much more humanoid appearance, replaces her skin with artificial material, which despite the odds feels just as human skin would, unfortunately, Raeli is rarely seen in her opposite skin, and is often primed in the combat version. Her combat version makes her look quite alien from her human counterparts, to the point where many have questioned her status as human and not android. Her combat body contains port that allows her to connect with digital networks across the galaxy, as well as being able to switch her consciousness into another cyborg, android, or mechanized body (as long as they contain viable ports as well). Her armor is sleek and skin tight save for segment attached to the base of neck which protects her from being hacked by tech savvy individuals, or her ports being destroyed. She is 5'10 and her weight is nigh incalculable as she can change it based on her surroundings (i.e if she's in a zero gravity like area, she can make her herself heavy enough to resist said gravity.) Her skin is olive toned to contrast with her pastel colored hair, all in all, Raeli would say that she is a 'sight for sore eyes.'

The skin tight exoskeleton like armor is usually enough for her is she wasn't planning to use any automatic weapons, though occasionally she may wear this as an armor:



Weaponry:
Zurich Sabers
Two Katana like swords that she imbues with electric pulses to increases it's damage, considering her skill with htem it can be quite deadly, and is known to cut effectively through many materials. It can send out blast-waves of electrical energies towards targets as well as a sort of long range attack.

SDS-283 Rail Sniper Rifle
'Baby'

Having been a Sniper during the war days, this gun is her specialty, and a truly treasured weapon to the point where Raeli has a assigned little pet names. Very effective long distance weapon, and Raeli preferred weapon if she chooses to avoid conflict/

Flux Meson XR-4Z SMG
A Sub-Machine Gun that is usually used for multiple groups of enemies to get them to scatter easily, not her favorite since it tends to over heat way too easily for her likes.

Starfighter:
Phoebas
Phoebas is a rather speedy little Star Fighter that offers little as far as defense is concerned, so naturally Raeli has a tendency to pilot it really fast, and that seems to work well enough.

Skills:
-Raeli is a master hacker, few if any people can out-master her skills with data in multiple networks around the Galaxy, she has trained herself to become fast at infiltrating private data, and once even wiping out the electrical signals of one planet. The power of this has scared many governments, but it seems she is too much of a liability to take down, rather it seems many governments want her expertise for themselves, but Raeli finds her ideology to mismatch with those who are willing to pay her in the millions.

-Veteran Solider, as one who served the Republic in recent years, her skills as a soldier gives her the many skill for survival in combat, along with her cybernetic body she can be quite deadly.

-Expert Sniper, A Galaxy renowned sniper, as this became her legacy when serving the Corvais Republic, her kill count is unmatched as a Sniper.

Abilities:

Electricity Manipulation: This ability is rather uncontrolled, and rarely used because of this, she can manipulate electrical currents, but this can easily scramble her own sensitive data and brain matter if she is not careful, and can render her unconscious for several hours a sit has before in the past while trying to tempt it. Mostly she uses it to incapacitate her enemies quickly with a little zolt.

Technopathy: Raeli has the natural ability to manipulate the electrical signals from all types of machines and technology, making it far easier for her to hack whatever she needs, whenever it is necessary. This is the ability that she is renowned for, and at the same time envied for.

Super-Strength: It comes with the enhancement of having a body made out of strong alloys, and while she may have this strength, it does not necessary mean that her body can't get torn into pieces, simply that her strength far outweighs that of any normal human.

Cell Regeneration: This ability is slight, and does always work, she can regenerate some wounds, but not all, especially if she's lost a limb.

Word-of-Mouth:
Truth be told, not much is known about Raeli other than she is constantly moving around to new locations, and was a veteran soldier for the Republic, but once the war was over, she found herself conflicted, and more importantly a lost of meaning to her purpose. Rumor has it though that the woman is a spy for hire, someone whose reputation in the hacking community has reached into the far depths of the Galaxy, as well as some of her missions, which she may or may not have been spotted at. Whatever life she lives she seems to enjoy it, all the while garnering the fear of her more affluent targets who wish to strike against her, with her hacking capabilities is it apparent that she seems untouchable as all types of information is available at her fingertips, information most people would not want revealed to the public. Much of her time is spent debating her existence, and the rarity of an individual with more than 90% of their body cyberized, is it a wonder how someone as young as her could have ended up as physically impaired as she became to undergo this transformation.

Age – He appears to be in his late 20s.

Species – Human

Appearance:

A large, imposing man, Cyrus is built like a brick house. His body is in top shape. He keeps his hair short and has taken to growing a beard.

Height – 6’4

Weight – 250 pounds



Outside of missions, he tends to wear normal clothing. T shirts, jackets, jeans, boots, nothing overly fancy that would stick him out of a crowd.

Weaponry:
ZGR32 Assault rifle - A state of the art firearm, the ZGR32 is a capable weapon in the hands of a skilled soldier. Using 50 round clips, the rifle is most effective at close to medium range, though it possesses two firing rates, fully automatic and semi automatic. When changed to semi automatic, it can be effectively used at a longer range. An underside grenade launcher adds to the firepower.

Smoke grenades – Cyrus carries these one his belt, he uses them either as a distraction or to aid in an attack. His usual methods are either to toss one down between him and his opponents, then to use his suit’s heat vision to spot his enemies through the smoke and take them out.

Starfighter:
G4 Vulture – A quick single man starfighter, the G4 is equipped with dual front facing laser cannons as well as a missile launcher which uses a lock on system. The ship was created for space combat and is extremely maneuverable in battle. Though it can land on a planet, this is not its strength. It has just enough room for a pilot and two passengers. It also possesses shields and a FTL drive.

Skills:
- Superior reflexes and agility. His reaction time is very fast; this aids him in space combat as well as ground combat. He can dodge close range attacks with ease.
- He possesses superior physical attributes, they are: superior strength, which allows him to lift up to three times his own body weight (roughly 750 pounds). Superior speed, which allows him to sprint up to 30 MPH. And superior durability, which allows him to sustain and recover from injuries quicker.
- Expert hand to hand combatant, he knows several different fighting styles, these are boxing, jujutsu, aikido and judo.
- Excellent marksman, able to hit targets with ease. He is best with an assault rifle in his hands, but is able to use a wide range of firearms with competence.
- Cyrus is a very skilled pilot. He can hold his own in ship to ship combat.

Word-of-Mouth:
Cyrus is a mysterious, mostly quiet man. Those that have seen him in battle attest to him just being so above his opponents, rumors float around that he is a genetically modified man of some origin, though these have never been confirmed. All that is really known about him is that he ended up on Red-6 one day when he was patched up by a doctor employed by Gortex. Due to this he felt he owed the alien some favors and took up mercenary work for the man, though he never met him in person. After two years of working, he drifted away from the crime lord, cutting all ties that he could, due to being sick of the things he had seen and done.

Name: Alpha

-Race: Variant Leadership Strain, Mutant

Appearance:

Standing 8'4 and 674 pounds of muscle, sinew, and bone. Alpha is an albino by his species standards with red eyes, plaster skin, and light grey carapace plates.

Apparel:
Skin and bones: The skin of a Hydraxien is as tough as any armor, the chitinous plates are even more so. Laser based weapons will have better luck seriously harming Alpha than ballistic based.

Bioweaponry:
Due to the nature of the Hydraxien warhost, they don't simply "make" weapons. They grow them. Here is Alpha's set of weapons.


The Hydra is the "standard issue" rifle employed by the Hydraxien warhost. The Hydra is actually a symbiotic organism that fuses with the right hand of a warhost and is fired in bursts of three by the controlled muscle spasms of the former appendage. Right behind the "barrel" of the rifle is an egg sac that holds the highly corrosive, carapace covered maggots that are used as the ammunition for this rifle. The maggots are about 3 in. long and an inch and a half wide with a pointed head and barbed body. The maggots will plow through unprotected flesh and tear through cloth armors but shattering upon contact with more durable armors and releasing their corrosive payload and making quick work of most armors. The egg sac can hold up to thirty maggots and more are created in groups of 5 every 15 seconds. Best used at medium to short distances, free hand must stabilize barrel for maximum accuracy.


The top set of arms are far stronger than the bottom set that are used in ranged combat. To this effect, the Talons can come down with extremely powerful downwards strikes that have high piercing potential against even the toughest of armors. However they are not limited to downward swings, the arms are highly articulate in which directions they can go. A highly effective method is to cross the Talons and slice lengthwise, like a pair of scissors. Cutting most opponents in half. The Talons are controlled partly by a second brain located somewhere at the back of the neck so that the main brain can focus on firing the Hydra.


The Flesh Hooks is a simple tool. Activated by a specific muscle spasm in the chest, the Flesh Hooks will fly through the air and embed themselves into rocks, wood, most metals, and flesh up to thirty feet away. After the Flesh Hooks have either hit their limit or hit a target, they will retract back into the body and will be able to be fired again in about a minute and thirty seconds. Used primarily to scale buildings or tall trees it is not uncommon however for them to bring a troublesome target to melee range.

Ship

The Kraken, like all Hyraxien tech, is actually an organic organism specifically bred for a task, this ones is space flight. The Kraken is armed with two heavier versions of the Hydra Rifle that fire larger, crystal headed maggots at enemy fighters. The function is the same. The Talons located along the Kraken are functional and deadly when used to outmaneuver slower vessels, taking them out in flashy take downs. The real beauty of this beast is the Narvhal organ. This organ allowes Alpha to travel FTL by harnessing his species inherent psychic power to travel at an imaginable speeds. Becasue of the force of the jump causes on the Kraken, it is far more durable than any fighter its size has any right to be. However sustained fire and missiles will take it down, a single shot from a cruiser or dreadnought will put it out of commission like any other ship. For reasons unknown, The Kraken has inherited Alphas albinism.

Abilities:
Psychic: The Hydraxiens are a highly advanced race once it comes to powers of the mind. When communicating to others outside of their race it is through telepathy, when traveling through the stars its through the power of the hives collective power, when someone tries to probe their minds only to wind up insane it is because many cannot comprehend the shear vastness of the hive mind. For all their physical prowess, the real power of the Hive will always be in their mind.

Word-of-Mouth: Alpha is what you would call a monster, abomination, an individual. That is his true crime, for being born alone. Alpha is a mutant, a fluke in the DNA that the queens fret over so much about gave him independence, a mind of his own instead of the single powerful entities that are the queens. For that he could never be one with the hive, because he was only one, not many. However unlike the other mutants before and after him who are culled on the spot, there was something different about him. Alpha isn't just some jumbled up sac of DNA, he was something so much more. He was part queen. Somehow the DNA so closely guarded by the queens fell through their fingertips and came to rest upon him. Finding himself not welcome in eyes of the queens but them having no way to kill him themselves. Alpha dominated a Kraken and left Hydra-4 behind and hasn't looked back since. Alpha is the first, the last, and the only individual that will ever come from the Hive of Hydra-4, now he just needs to find where he stands.

Umm.... This is just my opinion, so take it as you will, but uhh..... your character seems just a bit too picture perfect if you get what I'm saying. I mean his skills practically read he's super amazing at everything, from shooting a gun to piloting a spacecraft.... I don't know, just thought I would give you a fair heads up. Still a cool cat.

And here it is! Or at least the rough draft. I'll sift out any typos tomorrow, since its pretty late where I am.

The term "Sub Human" typically is applied to humans who have in some way been horribly disfigured due to rapid mutation or chemical exposure. These humans are often seen as monstrosities and generally do not function well due to their normally crippling mutations. These humans typically come from highly industrial/polluted worlds.

Appearance

She stands at around 5'9 and has a fairly normal build, not particularly muscular but very fit. Body is covered in large gashes that look like exposed flesh, when they are just discolored skin. Her eyes are a foggy grey and the dark bags under them have a slight red tint to them.
Apparel:

The WüsteneiTruppe, "Red Barren Division" Gear
Space ready suit, despite appearances, built for operating in very environmentally hazardous areas ranging from chemical dumps to nuclear wastelands. The red markings are of the particularly infamous "Red Barren Division", a army rangers sort of unit used for the planetary ground defense of the industry planet of Veltro. Their gear is designed around the typically inhospitable surface of the planet and can allow the user to operate practically anywhere (within reason). A long term survivalist set, built for durability and endurance. The helmet has thermal optical capabilities as well as a 7 meter motion tracker that can be synced up with separate motion tracker units. The torso armor is highly resilient to energy based weaponry, but only provides some protection against small arm kinetic based weapons.

Weaponry
The KA-7 Rail Rifle
A mass produce AK-47 esq weapon, it is commonly used among mercenaries for its cheap reliability. It fires 12.7x42mm projectiles with zero recoil, using magnets instead of powder to propel the object at hyper or sub sonic speeds depending on the user's needs. It is a very rugged system with a 3 year battery life before it needs to be recharged. Over all with its various attachments and ammo types, it is a very durable, versatile platform.

Steed-04 12.7mm Revolver
A very old fasion, yet reliable design, this side arm is another mass produced weapon as it is easy to use and make. A nine round revolver, it is loaded with special armor piercing 12.7mm rounds, giving it one hell of a punch. Despite recoil reducing design features, it still kicks like a mule and requires a steady, well trained hand to put it to good use.

MZ-9 Beam Knife
Sometimes, the old fashions ways work the best. Or kind of old fashion....Anyway, the MZ-9 is a energy based blade, being able to slice through most materials it comes in contact with. She keeps around eight of them on various places on her body to give her options when shit hits the fan.

DV-7 Hardlight Deployable Shield
A personal device that deploys a "Hardlight shield" this can protect the user from both energy and kinetic based weaponry for a significant amount of time. Though it acts like a literal shield instead of a suit mounted one, thus it is only effective wherever the user is pointing it.

Starfighter:
A7 Avaler
A slightly more higher end mercenary ship, this relatively small single seat heavy fighter has on board sleeping quarters and a small storage space. Used by more veteran mercenaries and freelancers, it is often praised for its reliability and hefty firepower that doesn't seem to effect overall performance so much. Armed with a front facing turret with twin 30mm Rail Repeater Cannons, wing mounted Gatling Lasers, and twin, internally mounted Turntable Missile Pods, making it a force to be reckoned with. Traveling was also a consideration in the design, thus it does have a small compartment behind the cockpit that contains a single cot, storage space, and separate computer. It is FTL compatible and has a decent shield rating for a ship of its size.

After many operations on the wastelands of Veltro, she has developed good tracking and "hunting" skills, being able to stalk targets and keep track of where their going.This also allows her to have a good sense of predicting the movements of the targets and where the best places are to set up ambush locations or design raids around enemy installations

-Veteran Soldier-
Being trained in the military arts, she has, of course, developed a general knowledge of common weaponry and equipment along with how to use said items. With decent training in all aspects like any other well trained soldier, she can hold her own in various combat situations as well as develop and counter enemy plans with her own.

-Survivalist-
After being exposed to harsh conditions, adaptability and survivability have become two major strong suits for Atla. She can quickly change with the situation and plan accordingly, even when fate throws her a curve ball. Being able to last up to months at a time with limited resources is a paradise for her in comparison to what she has had to endure. Evolving and molding to her surroundings has saved her many times, not just in combat.

Abilities
-Black Lungs-
Due to her mutation, she can practically breath in all sorts of acidic, hazardous air without any trouble at all. What would normally practically burn the insides of a normal organic creature, she can easily operate in with minimal protective gear. Her skin will not melt off after having some unnamed chemical dumped on it or her face won't fall apart after being exposed to deadly toxins in the air. She even has a higher tolerance to radiation than most, but even she can still get a lethal dose of rads if she's not careful

Word-of-Mouth:
The Red Barren's are a particularly well known specialist group known among mercs and soldiers alike. They are part of the military that defends the highly industrial and highly valuable world of Veltro. They are a "ghost" type unit, the ones who make some commander or even entire platoon of invaders disappear quietly into the night. They can go anywhere, live anywhere, and rumor has it they are all walking dead. Humans that are practically only held together by automated metal skeletons under their infamous blood marked armors. Nobody actually knows whether this is true or not, but the fact remains that Red Barren soldiers don't just operate on Veltro. Some have defected and become mercs for higher, developing their own bloody reputation for being relentless hunters. One of these soldier gone mercs has just so happened to be at the infamous pit of refuse, Red-6
