Chris sat in the assembly hall, eager for the headmaster to make his speech to the new class of future hunters and huntresses. The headmaster walked out onto the stage and the room fell silent, all attention directed to Ozpin.

Ozpin said "I'll...keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge--to hone your craft and acquire new skills--and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose--direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step."

The farther into the speech Ozpin got the more Chris's smile began to fade. The speech was.....erm....lackluster. He looked around the room to see that his emotions were shared by a lot of people in the room. They were all expecting some grand speech from a larger than life headmaster, but instead they got.....that. After the speech the students were informed that they were free to wander the grounds, until tomorrow when the placement exams would begin. People were already shuffling out of the auditorium, and onto the grounds, so Chris followed suit. Chris walked outside just in time to see a girl throw a boomerang at what appeared to be a dog faunis. He ran over and grabbed the girl's arm who threw the weapon. "Woah! Watch out where you throw things! I think you just hit that guy!"

Trico looked to the man who grabbed her arm after her Boomerang flew towards the Dog guy. And then he said 'ohh, I think you hit that guy' like a doosh. God, why didn't she have more boomerangs to throw? It all seemed so logical at the time to just have one, and now...not so logical.
"Well, obviously I hit him. If not, my Semblence is really going dodgy" She exclaimed, like it was obvious. Because it was. Bitch shouldn't be grabbing her arm when she was trying to take out a dog moving in on her turf. Trico absently thought about marking her territory on Priscilla's leg, but doubted the girl would appreciate that.

A smile stretched a across Oliver's face after she tried to apologize. It wasn't to hard tell that through her cute stammering, lied a small bundle of nervousness. "Am I excited for the test? Absolutely!" His child like excitement ultimately breaking his manly persona.Oliver added,"I can't think of a better way to prove myself to the staff here at beacon, and my classmates." His face dulled down slightly into a more calm look, still having a nice smile on his face though. "Priscilla you say? What a beautiful name. A very close friend of mine shared the same name." The name Priscilla provoked some nostalgia from Oliver's childhood. Oliver, without hesitation, introduced himself as well. He extended his hand and shool her lightly as he spoke,"My name's Oliver Baldwin Hildebrand Schneider Woldgang IV...But you can call me-" Oliver was cut off by something closing in on him. Out the corner of his eye some object was flying quite fast towards him. Trying to stop or catch it would probably bruise his hand, so all he could think of was to dodge it. He leaned forward in an attempt to dodge the incoming projectile, while also closing the gap between his face and Priscilla's. Only an inch or two away from hers, he managed to avoid the attack. He smiled lightly then rose back to his normal stance. He let go of her hand and looked at the attacker.

"What the hell did you do tha-" Once again, Oliver was cut off from his speech when the projectile seemed to hit him in the back of the head. How was that even possible? I dodged it so well, and at that speed it would have hit the wall behind me? Oliver thought as his everlasting fall to the ground finally concluded. Oliver looked up to see the girl from earlier, Priscilla's friend. He looked around and saw a boomerang laying beside him. There's no way a boomerang can bounce off the wall and hit me....IT'S IMPOSSIBLE!! Oliver's thoughts scramble trying to think of a way that could happen, and the goose egg on his head didn't help. Oliver stood up in a rage." Who the hell do you think you are! You can't just hit people like that! That's super mean! Don't you have any manners...." Oliver ranted on at the girl as he watched her give Priscilla a hug that could squish and kill a grim beowolf.

Gideon pushes Atlas off his head, who seemed to have less weight than a feather. He looked around as the speech ended, his eyes gazing about as the mass of people seemed overly disappointed. "I liked the speech. He didn't use excessive words." Gideon decided out loud to Atlas. Gideon then decided to consider Atlas's question, having been the first meaningful question uttered all day, "I believe the best choice would be you, we have grown up together, thus we fight best together." Xovos guessed at the parameters of the test, watching the others vacate slowly."Atlas, does the air taste like skunk cabbage to you as well?"

"No, it tastes like dandelions and daisies, which taste like shit." Atlas responds with a shit eating grin, he goes back to his normal weight, having slowly descended towards the ground while he replied to Gideon. "I hope we're on the same team, if not, we can always arrange for something to happen to one of the members of your team." he adds, whilst returning the hammer to it's default weight.

Priscilla smiled at the boy. He seemed to be really excited about the test. Maybe it wouldn't be bad afterall? As their hands touched a projectile flew to Oliver but he managed to dodge it, which Priscilla was hit by it on her right shoulder. "Ouch!" She yelled turning to see Trico and then the girl hugged Priscilla. But Priscilla was angry as she took a step back from Trico. "Did you throw that?" She asked Trico with a very serious look. Yes, a very mean and serious look. Priscilla placed ahand on her shoulder wincing with pain, it did hurt but atleast it wasnt nothing big. She looked at Oliver, a sad and painful face and then back at Trico as her face expression changed to mad!

Gideon rubbed the back of his neck, a stress filled sigh muffled by the shemagh, "I supposed they expect us to be subdued here. Try not to kill anyone in your sleep, you scared the clientele enough without throttling necks in the middle of the night." He muttered to Atlas, though it seemed by the time he had finished his sentence, his attention was sidetracked by a boomerang that was flung past Gideon and barely missed Atlas's massive form, missing a boy by only a few inches. Gideon almost wanted to congratulate the boy for his dodge but the thought barely crossed his mind before the dog-eared head jerked forward from a dorsal impact.

Looking over the situation, Gideon watched as the interaction between a boy and a girl, turned from two to three, then three to four. The pink-haired girl seemed to be gathering a great deal of attention for her first day, it amused Gideon, though he wasn't sure how to feel about her, trying to decide using a normal though process:
She had kicked him, though he suspected it was an accident, so no harm done
She had apologized profusely, or at least, said something to him, so he should probably make an effort to show that he was fine.
She consistently seemed to be the center of attention, perhaps that was what they call a semblance? Being associated with her might become troublesome.

Eventually Xovos became bored with the logical train of thought, simply deciding she was pretty, nice enough to apologize, but also the center of attention.
She was nervous, Xovos could almost taste it, but likewise, she seemed confident in her abilities.
Interesting enough.

All those thoughts fit in between the time-frame of the boomerang hitting the boy to the point when the assailant completed some sort of locking maneuver on the pink-haired girl. An unorthodox and ineffective tackle, Xovos figured, though he didn't see why the assailant should be permitted to assault multiple other student. Beacon was an exotic school, to say the least, but not in the way that traditions from Gideon's homeland were.
No, the correct adjective to the school landed closer to child-like innocence, the obnoxious behavior of those who have never felt the true consequence of their behavior

Gideon couldn't really differentiate himself from everyone else though, his father always kept Gideon's hands from becoming dirtied with blood, despite the fact that he had such lethal abilities in a line of work that required lethal measures.

Beacon was, in many ways, different from Gideon's home on the arid outskirts of civilization, the air tasted soggy and the mixture of so many people left Gideon's senses hyper stimulated when he was used to the comfort of warm sand and dry, silent wind. The subdued sun chilled Gideon's bones and the people were obnoxious.
Despite his discomfort. Beacon would also be his unorthodox paradise.
The air was alive, brimming with the tastes and smells of living things
The school bustled with activity, making it impossible for Gideon to feel alone
The cooled air gave Gideon's skin a respite from the ever glaring sun
The people were all lively and interesting, providing ample amusement where there had been so little before.

Gideon Xovos did not carry an ounce of regret.

“Lead the way man” Conrad said as he lifted Cleave unto his shoulder, “Ok, that man with the Hammer interests me, he looks like a graceful man, he was balancing himself on top of that shrouded man like it was nothing, that shrouded man is interesting too, to have the strength to endure the weight of that man with the hammer on his head and not flinch a bit, this school sure is full of interesting people, Hey, if the test is in pairs, how bout we make a team? I'm sure we could complement each other" he smirked to conrad "I'll be the shield, and you'll be the sword" he joked
Blake and Conrad made their way to Gideon and Atlas, who had descended to the ground.

Maybe this wasn't going to be terrible, after all! Maybe, MAYBE they would be actual friends and not be killing each other in mortal combat started by-uh, old-looking hair lady-

"Oh, that's right. We're free to explore the grounds until this evening, so, would you like to come with me? I was planning to look around and see if I could find their training room, along with their other facilities."

YEAH-HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY! TRAIN-ING ROOM! Okay, now that we've obviously decided that there would be no mortal combat unless someone started a fight, there was NOTHING to worry about. I mean, not right now. Maybe a few minutes from now we'll be getting attacked by enemy forces, but that is not important. "Okay!" Yael said, seeming a bit too happy at the moment. You could say that she's-are you ready- beaming. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA- WAIT WHAT ARE YOU DOING WHERE ARE YOU PUTTING THAT GUN NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Honestly, Abel was insulted.

Wasted potential? Searching for direction? He had both. Five years alternating between guarding the wall of Vale as his family had done for generations, combined with both formal and combat education at the school in nearby Pallisade Town, had afforded him plenty. From conversations he had overheard on the airship ride here -after getting over his amazement at flying for the first time in his life- some of the students came from more protected schools like Flare or Signal. He hailed from the edge of the civilized world. The others had only learned the rudiments about monsters in their books and gotten a taste of fighting in their gym classes; Abel had killed a Beowolf before he even began to be taught. Of course, he had been enraged at his brother's death enough to blindly throw himself at the monster with no thought for his own safety, but that was then. Now, he was a Guardian, like his parents and their parents before them.

Protecting the kingdom of Vale, however, would only go so far. He was here to become a Hunter, to learn how to track down the monsters and kill them before they could challenge man's defenses. That was his purpose, and no unenthusiastic headmaster could belittle it.

After the brief, halfhearted speech, Abel left the auditorium with the rest of the students. He was forced to take extra care to make sure he didn't accidentally trip anyone with his weapon. The Ampere had no collapsible features or travel mode, meaning it would never be less than 5'5” of potential hazard to everyone around him.

It didn't take long for the quiet boy to spot others that were far less careful with their weaponry than he. The flash of a boomerang in the morning sun caught his eye, and he watched with interest as the weapon missed its intended target only to arc back around and strike him in the head, just below his fluffy, pointed dog ears. A faunus? He didn't know much about them (only two that he knew of lived in Pallisade or served as Guardians in his district, and both of those had been owl fauni) but he knew they were generally disparaged from normal people. Was this girl attacking him doing so because of his heritage? Or was there something more? Abel stopped walking and watched, one hand in his pocket and one rested on his weapon's shaft, as the instigator threw her arms around another girl that the faunus had been talking to. His brow furrowed when Oliver's face began to turn angry, and he considered walking over to make sure that the situation was resolved peacefully.

Instead, someone else immediately beat him to it. A pale, heavily scarred boy in purple rushed in and grabbed the boomerang-thrower' arm. Some more dialogue followed, but Abel couldn't hear it over the general drone of the excited students everywhere. He continued to watch frowning, planning to intervene if things escalated. The last thing everyone needed was a brawl on school grounds before it even officially began.

Oliver rubbed the back of hid head as he calmed down a little. The boy in the purple clothing seemed to have come to Oliver's aid when he got hit,"Thank you..." Oliver said to the boy, not really sure if the boy heard him or not. To avoid any other violence, Oliver tried to dismiss the whole situation and continue to talk to Priiscilla. "Uhh, yeah. So Priscilla, want to walk around the school with me? You know, get a feel of the area and familiarize the place. We do have all day before we have to go to the ballroom to sleep, so why not spend it with someone?" Oliver asked as continued to rub the bump on the back of his head from the boomerang. Oliver glared at the deadly boomerang women seconds after, making it a point the he didn't invite her, only Priscilla. Oliver took a step in between Priscilla and the boomerang girl before she could answer, just in case the boomerang girl was trying to influence Priscilla.

Beliya nodded confidently, as if she knew for a fact that Janet would accept the invitation. Taking the opportunity, Beliya started walking, making sure to drag Janet along by the hand while at least keeping a pace that she could keep up with. As she forcibly dragged the girl along, pointing out what each place was, ie the cafeteria, what looked like the main academic building, the lavatory, the everything else...but she couldn't find anything resembling a training room that was open.

Beliya finally came to a stop and let go of Janet's hand, looking around as if she was surveying the area. Turning around, Beliya asked: "Do you know where their training room is? I haven't seen anything...", chewing the nail of her thumb as she paced back and forth, wondering if she passed it somewhere, her tail lightly swishing behind her as she walked.

Trico stared like an owl for a few seconds, before darting away, making owl noises as she ran. The situation could have gone better, with narrowly missing Priscilla and the other guy getting invovled like an ass, and she didn't think she had dissuaded the dog guy from getting to close with Priscilla either. With this complete and utter failure, she fled the scene, to think and reflex on how she had got here. Reflexing wasn't a nice thing, she had not got many nice things to reflex on, but she still needed to do it. Because she had messed up.

Trico found some over-hanging piece of architecture, and perched, brooding softly as she remembered before now. People where confusing, and Trico had no idea how to handle them. The only person who had tried to teach her was dead now, but he deserved it. Trailing off into her dark thought patten, she wondered when next she could crush some Grimm. Crushing Grimm always made her feel better.

On Trico's perch, there appears to be somebody else, a brown haired and brown eyed nineteen year old boy wearing rather... Colorful clothes, but rather kneeling on the perch, he's situated on the larger end of the hammer, both feet strongly planted on the mottled surface of the war hammer as he balances in an awkward squat. He looks down at Trico with a frown, resting both his forearms on his knees as he takes notice of the crazy brooding lesbian to his right. "Hey." he says silently to get her attention "Get your own spot." Atlas then requests.
Gideon takes notice of the two people, and looks up to Atlas "Did you find somebody as strange as you?" he questions loudly with low, tired sigh, as if that's a bad thing.

Trico looked up at Atlas, and nodded wordlessly, vanishing from the perch, and finding a new one, far from the man to stand. She didn't want bothering by people, and so sticking around a person, was counter productive. There, she stood, on a perch totally unoccupied by anyone else, and brooded again, staring out into the school grounds and waiting.

Chris stared blankly at the girl whose arm he had just grabbed. So not only did she mean to hit this boy, but she went at far as to engage her Semblance to make sure she hit. That was rather rude. Before he could say anything on the matter the girl pulled herself out of his grasp and engaged in what was perhaps the most frightening hug Chris had ever seen. He was surprised the pink haired girl could stand after that. The dog eared boy seemed to be alright, but there was going to be a nasty goose egg there tomorrow.

Undying Curiosity said ,"Thank you..." Oliver said to the boy, not really sure if the boy heard him or not.

The faunis saying thanks to Chris snapped him back to reality. "Oh! Yeah, don't mention it bro. We gotta have each other's backs!" Chris shot the boy a toothy smile, glad that he was able to help. "I am Chris by the way," he said while extending his arm for a handshake, "Whats your name? I haven't been talking to too many people since I got here, do you mind if I stick around with you?"

On one hand, the aggressor had fled. On the other, Abel was now very sure that she was crazy. The only explanation for her owlish hoots was that she was kidding around, and that didn't seem to be the case. Abel shrugged, releasing a small sigh. No doubt the boomerang-wielding nutcase would find other victims to hurt and confuse. At least, for the time being, the faunus and his newfound friend were left to get on with their business in peace. Satisfied with such a resolution, Abel hoisted the Ampere onto his shoulder and span ninety degrees to walk away, following the crowd.

Twack

To his horror, Abel found that he had accidentally pegged another student with the shaft of his weapon. As he rushed to apologize, he realized that the person he had hit was a faunus sheep girl. It took only a second to identify her as such, given her wooly white hair and adorable black nubby ears. Oversized boots, weighed down with metal, covered her lower legs and feet. She yelped in a high pitch, though more startled than hurt. Before Abel could apologize, however, the girl beat him to it. “Sorry sorry sorry, didn't mean to! Accident!”

Abel was dumbfounded. He gingerly brought the Ampere down into a less prominent position, as if it would lash out of its own accord, smack the other student again, and double his embarrassment. “Why are you saying sorry? I'm the one who hit you!”

The girl giggled, hand covering the spot on her forehead, just above her milky white eyebrows, where the shaft of the Ampere had made contact. “Did you? I wasn't looking where I was going anyway. Must have run right into it. That's the problem with running.” After thoroughly confirming that there was no mark, the hand on her head was offered to Abel. “Guess we're equally at fault. I'm Mary Ovisaries. Some people call me Magenta. Those people are idiots.” It wasn't hard to figure out why; her patterned tank top and split cape were both a deep shade of pink-red. Abel noticed for the first time that she had some sort of weapon on the rear of her belt. He took her hand and shook. “Abel Fulgurate. You're not hurt?” Mary shook her head enthusiastically. Not knowing exactly what to say, Abel was anxious to change the subject before this exchange began to drift into awkward territory. “What's that you've got there?”

“This?” Mary pulled the thing from a harnass on her lower back. The implement revealed itself to be a crossblade, six curved swordlike lengths of metal joined to a central ring. Its design was stylish, white inlaid with black. “The Shepard's Compass! Made it myself at Flare. It took ages to get the alloy right, but when I was done it was as light as a feather! It can fly through the air like a frisbee, and even if it hits something it can keep spinning, sawing away. And it almost always returns to me! I don't know why it does that, really, there are no electronics in it or anything!” Clearly, this was a young woman who wasn't afraid to be sociable. Abel was getting the feeling that she loved attention.

He decided to give it to her. “Huh, very nice!”
“And your spear?” Mary's bright eyes were fixated upon his polearm.
“More of a sword-on-a-stick, really. But since that's a mouthful I call it the Ampere. Conducts electricity really well.”

The two began to move further away from the auditorium, continuing to speak. Mary did most of the talking, but Abel listened well.

Gideon's eyes traveled from Atlas's large form propped on the overhanging doorway to Priscilla, Oliver, and Chris. Truly the amount of attention garnered around that girl was absolute. They were close enough that Gideon could make out what they were saying but went to confirm that they were alright, particularly the boy with the odd ears who was hit in the back of the head with the boomerang. The clicks of his swords announced his approach before he did, half of his face still covered by the scarf-like cloth that wrapped around his face and spilled out over the hooded robes. Due to the cloth, his words were slightly muffled, though the laid back tone could still be heard loud and clear.
"Male with odd ears, are you intact? The impact from the boomerang appeared to have hurt a great deal." Xovos inquired, coming into their conversation like a train through a traffic jam.
"I am surprised that a student would be permitted to assault another student, though, she appears to have regret her decisions." He frowns for a moment, not giving anyone a moment to talk.
"My name is Gideon Xovos, I transferred here from the desert outskirts to hone my abilities." Offering his hand forward to any of the three of them. His pace of speech seems more of a no-nonsense business man than a friend. It might be that he's really just awkward with laid-back conversation, despite his confident attitude.

Oliver's ears perked as someone behind his started talking, he turned his head rather quickly to see if he could put a face to the voice. It was a boy, slightly taller than Oliver by a few inches maybe. He was wearing a dark purple shirt that seemed to be a size or two too big. White hair drooped in front of his face, but it wasn't quite long enough to cover the scars that run down his neck and face, possibly even stretching down his chest too. "I am Chris by the way." The boy said as he extended his hand out to Oliver.

"A man who comes to my aid in my time of need, risking his reputation to stand by the victim and do the right thing deserves more than a handshake!" Oliver shouts as he says a line straight out a Super hero film. Olive extends his hand out to Chris's but doesn't shake it. Olive quickly grabbed Chris' forearm, yanking him in towards Oliver's chest, he then let go and wrapped his arms around Chris, "That certain man deserves more than a handshake!!" Oliver repeated, and as he let go of Chris ending the friendly hug. Oliver changed the way he talked, going from a narrator like voice to a more casual one,"My name is Oliver Baldwin Hildebrand Schneider Wolfgang IV, But you can just call me Ollie...Or Oliver." Oliver said. "I like you Chris, judging from your actions, you seem like a nice guy. I don't mind if you stick around!"Oliver said.

A man approached from the right of Oliver and Chris. Oliver heard the faint clanging of something approaching them, turned out to be the sword. The man approached and introduced himself as Gideon Xovos, just after asking if Oliver was OK,"Male with odd ears.." Oliver quoted, he looked at Gideon and spoke again, "Have you never seen a Faunus before?...Meh, it doesn't really matter. So you come from the desert to get better at what you do huh?" Oliver looked at Chris for a brief second before looking back at Gideon, "What is it that you do?" Oliver pondered as he asked the question.

some guy with the name of Chris. She smiled as they both talked and even hugged, aww such good friends that they are going to be. And then came the guy she kicked back on the ship. But all she did was back away and accidently falling on the ground, and making someone else fall. Priscilla stood up fast bowing her head as an apology. "sorry!" She told the girl who Priscilla made fall and her head turned back to the others. "Im fine." And with that she walked away leaving the boys to talk. It seems that they were going to be gooood friends! And her shoulder hurt like hell, maybe she would go explore alone?
