I think any city would do as long as it's north side and within range of a forest i.e. Canada since there is a diversity of Urbs and Woods people. We only have one sedentary and two to three semi-sedentary characters (really depends on how you look at their backgrounds, most parts their nomadic though they lived in sedentary conditions before) which is disappointing really. More communities would have been interesting, characters could bounce in-between each settlement. It could be a plot-point as the RP goes on and if more players join the frey.

I would be willing to make Isam a bit more sedentary if that helps

Instead of sailing all over the damn place, he could stick to one area that he knows

and just like, move around within that territory.

Can work :)

I suggest the following states: Wisconsin, Illinois (Chicago seems interesting), Indiana, Michigan

Should we tally up the states suggested and count the votes?

The problem with those places are, like worm said, it would be ridiculously cold there

Hell, most of the time, it's already ridiculously cold there =P

Edit: A vote could work :3

Okay, but first what's our criteria?

So the place must be sufficiently warm even during a global cooling. A forest and a city should be within vicinity.... what else?

EDIT: A large water source, such as a river or lake....

I'm personally partial to swamplands and marshes

all kinds of survival goodies in there

and, coincidentally, a lot of things that can kill you as well

but it's not a dire requirement =P

Chattanooga, Tennessee fits the criteria minus the swamp. It's within the vicinity of a forest, near a large body of water, isn't a primary target in WW3 so the area is pretty much intact, south enough that it's warm even during global cooling. The city size leaves a lot to be desired but it doesn't really matter in the long run of the RP.

Only been to Chattanooga once, when I was a child. I lived in Tennessee for a long time: Tennessee is aaaaall forest. Most of East Tennessee is forest, with some villages speckled in. I won't even call them towns, since most are a thousand people or less. Neither of the four big cities would be major targets (Memphis, Nashville, and Chattanooga) as neither have a nuclear program or nearby nuclear areas. In fact, Tennessee doesn't have much outside of forests, meth, and coal, and only the east has coal.

I assume this's a yes vote?

Off topic, but I have accepted the boat as a permanent factor.

I added pictures to Isam's bio.

They are very nice

Ignore the woman in the second one, she doesn't come with the boat.

Another vote for Chattanooga! I was thinking about passing through when I visit family in Florida some time, seems like a great place.

Chattanooga sounds good! I've never been there so I'll have to do a little research. I'd like to add that there are some settled, small communities around but they are rare such as one would see in the Last of Us for example or how in I am Legend they found that little community at the end.

Well, Chattanooga isn't really a thriving metropolis filled with sky scrappers built close together, and most trees native to the area aren't really suited for humans climbing on them, much less running on them. So, it'll be difficult to find places for him to do that for any real length of time.
