Pathfinder A walking disaster

Member Seen 6 yrs ago

Height: 8'0 (243.84cm)

Weight: 329 lbs (149.232kg)

Name: Lugnaught but people just call him Lug.

Age: 50

Species: Ork

Personality: Lug is a fairly affable fellow that likes to kick back with a strong drink every once in awhile. When on the job or invested in a new invention he is kind of a grump but not to the extent of being a jerk, he is more stern than anything. Oddly enough, Lug has lost the inherent aggression that is present in all orkz and he will be the first to tell you that it is in fact, a good thing. When intoxicated, Lug turns into a boisterous Ork who tends to boast and challenge others to feats of strength.

Skills overview: An ork "Mek Boy", Lug can fix almost anything mechanical in nature like mechs, trucks, and engines. However he doesn't have a clue on how to fix things that are more energy oriented, nor does he want to. Lasers just ain't orky enough.

Position on crew: All around Mechanic, repair man, and emergency miner.

Years on crew: 2 and a quarter.

Bio: A long time ago, Lug was just a mek boy in a war band. Day in and day out all Lug would do was fix things the other orkz broke. Trucks, battle wagons, tanks, mechs, guns, and cybernetics. To Lug it was all quite boring to him, he wanted more. After his 40th year, Lug stole a flyer and traveled to some far off planet that didn't even have a name. While there he did the same thing he did before but added mining into the mix and he loved it. For once in his life, Lug's every waking moment wasn't dominated by fixing broken crap. Lug spent a good 6 years on the planet but he soon found that it was lacking... danger. As an ork, Lug needed danger. It was an itch that needed to be scratched.

Quickly leaving, Lug bounced around and took odd jobs from time to time. Eventually, Lug found that a man named Julius was in need of a mechanic when his previous one died in a explosion/fire/ass tons of shrapnel. When Lug found out that other dangerous stuff can happen on the ship he practically begged to work on the ship. Since then he has been a diligent mechanic and has come to like everyone on the ship in one way or another.

Name: Isabella "Izzy" Rennold

Age: 25

Species: Human

Appearance:

Height: 5'4"

Weight: 124lbs

Personality: Izzy is a kind soul. She enjoys the company of others, and is the kind of person people go to for advice. She's good at talking to people and can usually resolve situations. Despite her kind personality, she can be stubborn at times when she thinks she's right and she's not afraid to put you in your place. She doesn't like bullies and she doesn't like those who think they're better than everyone else. While she is an extrovert, she occasionally likes to just get alone and read a good book. She doesn't open up about her past much. But then again, not a lot of people ask.

Skills overview: 4 years of Navigation training, 4 years of piloting small cargo ships, and self defense training.

Position on crew: Co-Pilot

Years on crew: 1.2

Bio: Izzy grew up on Earth, most of her childhood she was an only child. She occasionally mentions eventually getting a younger sister, but not much is said on that subject. As she grew older, she began to training for a piloting license. Her father forbid the pursuit but she followed her passion anyway. Once she left Earth at the age of 21, she worked small jobs that took her to Trade Station Alpha. There she met her now deceased girlfriend and would later meet Julius and sign up with him, after some convincing on both ends.

Not sure if this ship has soldiers to protect against space pirates or anything, but I figured I'd give it a shot

Here's my A team:

Name Isam Hajjar
Age: 28
Species: Human, Iraqi
Gender: Male

Personality: Isam is a serious, all business kind of guy. He's often the straight man (no pun) to Yasha's nonsense. Isam's best quality could be loyalty. To the people he likes, he is very loyal. That said, there aren't very many people that he likes. Isam doesn't care for those who would play space cowboy rather than getting their jobs done. Yet, somehow, him and Yasha have remained friends. Despite being seen as a guy who can't take a joke, Isam is known for his snarky sense of humor.

Skills overview: Military training, multi-lingual (fluent in Arabic, Kurdish, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, English, and French), trained in field medicine, a quick learner.

Position on crew: Hired soldier. He's around to make sure space pirates or the like don't kill them all.

Years on crew: 3

Appearance: Isam is 5'6" and muscular. His hair is black, curly, and shoulder length. It's often unbrushed and unruly, sometimes worn back in a ponytail. Being the manly man that he is, Isam shows off his black, fuzzy chest hair with pride. He often sports facial hair that changes depending on if he feels like shaving that morning. It grows back fairly quick. His skin is a medium brown, and his eye are dark brown. His fashion choices are hardly that; Isam is a utilitarian by nature. He wears army pants, earth tone t-shirts and tank tops, and combat boots almost every day of his life.

History: Was born in a small village in Iraq. When Isam was young, yet another war broke out in his country that required more soldiers than they had. When he was 12, men stormed into his village and took every male old enough to hold a gun and forced them to enlist for the sake of their country. Isam spent 16 years in the military, and during that time, he was captured by enemy soldiers, was tortured, escaped, blew up several enemy camps, almost lost his left leg once, learned several languages, became a translator during interrogations of enemies, eventually began interrogating enemies himself, was captured a second time, escaped again, and decided that he'd had enough.

Isam left the military and Iraq behind. All of his surviving family members had been killed by city bombings, the country was in shambles, and there was nothing left for him there. However, war was in his nature. Isam was raised a soldier, and he found that he couldn't just walk away from it.

He tried. Isam moved to France where he planned to be a good Muslim man, leave his former violent life behind, and work a good, honest living. It lasted about two seconds. Isam's affection for alcohol, mixed with anxiety and paranoia left over from the war, got him into more trouble than he liked to admit. It wasn't until he met Omar that he calmed his shit down. Omar was a chef at one of Isam's favorite restaurants. Isam would never had admitted it, but he mostly just went there to talk to Omar and watch him cook. There was something about the kind hearted man that put Isam at ease. He was fond of Omar, and he soon found that Omar felt the same towards him.

Isam spent three years in France, and during that time, him and Omar moved in together and Isam struggled to find a decent job. Omar was actually the one who found him the job on Trade Station Alpha. They were looking for soldier for hire, ones that didn't have governments and military rules attached to them. Omar had already landed a job on the station as the head chef of 'human cuisine'. It didn't take much convincing to get Isam to sign up. His skills sheet and resume was outstanding, if you look past all the bar fights and nights spent in the local jail house during his first year in France. Isam and Omar were shipped up to the station to begin their respective duties, and Isam met his new job partner: Yasha.
Name: Yasha Belov
Age: 38
Species: Human, Russian
Gender: Male

Personality: Yasha is an interesting character. He's the type that gives everyone insulting nicknames, picks on new recruits, and plays poker with anyone dumb enough to place a bet. He's loud, boisterous, and makes eyes at anything that may possibly have a uterus. Essentially, the exact opposite of Isam. The two bickered back and forth for the first few months they were forced to work together, but they eventually bonded over their shared love for vodka. Yasha and Isam are now best of buds, their personalities playing off of each other.

Skills overview: Military background, excellent card player, very good strategist, can drink half a bottle of vodka and remain conscious.

Position on crew: Hired mercenary

Appearance: Yasha is a large, muscular man. He stands at 6'2", has pale skin and dirty blonde hair that is kept in a neat buzz cut. His eyes are a gray-ish blue. Yasha usually wears his uniform around the station, even though it's completely unnecessary.

Years on crew: 3

History:
Yasha grew up in Kazan, Russia. His mother had been a drug addict, and overdosed when Yasha was 5. He was left to be raised by his father, who fell into depression after the loss of his wife. The man was an alcoholic, and a violent one at that. After Yasha's mother had died, his father had essentially lost interest in being a father. He would often invite his equally drunken friends over to watch soccer games, drink, and play poker while Yasha hid in his room and pretended not to exist. Yasha wanted to get out of the house as soon as he could, and joining the military seemed like the best option. However, Yasha had something of an authority issue when he was younger. His father's abuse had turned him into a rebellious little shit. After 6 years of service, his shenanigans finally got him dismissed from the armed forces.

But Yasha didn't give up easily. He was going to be a soldier whether the military wanted him or not. Maybe it was some inner need to make something of himself rather than turn into his father. He went into the mercenary business when he was 24. His job allowed him to travel the world, gathering skills as he went. Yasha slowly lost most of his 'punkass kid' attitude, but his personality remained as flamboyant as ever. He jumped at the chance to work on the Trade Station Alpha when it was offered. Despite how he portrayed himself, Yasha was intelligent, skilled, and a clear choice to defend the station.
Minor character:

Name: Omar Bada
Age: 30
Species: Human, Afghan
Gender: Male

Personality: Omar is a good natured man. He's friendly, kind, and he gets along well with everyone. Omar loves his job on the station, and it clearly shows. If asked nicely, he's always willing to whip up something special or exotic for the station's workers. He's baked many-a-birthday cakes, each one with love and care put into it. His outgoing personality is nothing like Isam's introverted and quiet nature, but Omar tends to bring out the best in him. He's always encouraging Isam to socialize more, like a mother hen worrying about if her kid is making friends in school.

Skills overview: He can cook. Holy shit can this man cook.

Position on crew: Head chef of the human cuisine section of the kitchen.

Years on crew: 3

Appearance: Omar is 5'8" and a little bit pudgy. He has medium brown skin, short, wavy black hair, and a neatly trimmed sideburns/beard/mustache deal. He can often be found with a smile on his face and a happy glimmer in his eye. He likes to wear comfortable clothing: jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts, ect.

History:

Omar was born in Herat, Afghanistan. When he was 15, him and his parents moved to France to get away from the constant war and terror that plagued their country. He liked France; it was a nice change of scenery. He began to pursue his interests in becoming a chef. He started at the bottom and worked his way up, working with some of the toughest chefs the small country had to offer. He moved to Paris once to work in a big, fancy restaurant, but found that the city was too busy and loud for him.

After he moved to a smaller and quieter town, he met Isam. When he'd first laid eyes on the man, he was sitting alone at his table with a black eye and a busted lip, nursing a large mug of black coffee. He had clearly been suffering from what appeared to be a terrible hangover. Omar felt a stab of pity and made him breakfast on the house. After that, Isam became a regular. He would stop by often and two the would talk until Omar had to get back to work. He suspected that Isam was just lonely, but there was something charming about the way the man lit up whenever they spoke. Omar hadn't realized that he'd developed feelings for the man until Isam stopped coming for a while.

Omar found himself worrying that the man might have gotten himself killed or something equally stupid. When Isam returned, Omar found out that he had spent a few weeks in prison for causing a scene at a bar. That had been the final straw. Omar sat down and had a heart to heart with Isam, basically telling him to get his shit together, because his life was worth a lot more than getting drunk and getting into fights. It was during that conversation that they finally confronted the feelings that had developed between them.

After Isam had moved in with Omar, things calmed down. Isam finally had a reason to shape his shit up, and Omar was happy to help him. When Omar got a job on the Trade Station Alpha as a chef, he knew he couldn't leave Isam behind. He found the opening for security and Isam got the job. Omar has been happily working in the kitchen since.

Character Sheet

Name: Zip Marlep

Age: 21

Species: Cybernetically-Enhanced Human

Appearance:

Height: 5'10"

Weight: 165 lbs.

Personality: Zip is arrogant and obnoxious, and all around unlikeable. He uses a lot of sarcasm in his speech and in his jokes, which many could take offense to. He gets along with a select few who challenge him intellectually. He will speak his mind, even on topics he knows nothing about.

Skills overview:
Programming,Robotics, Coding, Security Evasion (He is not good at repairing things, just enhancing or gaining control of them.)

Position on crew: Computer Expert

Years on crew: 3

Bio: Zip was always fascinated with computers. Throughout his childhood he was learning how they work, how to use them, and how to manipulate them. He was reprimanded many times for illegally accessing his high schools network, switching out students he didn't like for those he did and changing his grades. As he got older, his skills increased and he was considered for a position with the government. However he told them to "shove the position up [their] asses." Soon after the failed recruitment he illegally modified his own body, adding cybernetics enhancements that would make his "hobby" easier.
His eyes hold screens, which allow him to work away from a desk. His hands hold sensors, allowing him to use them in place of a mouse. The sensors in his hands also allow him to control his small drones, along with any robot he gains control of. He has a holograph projector on the left side of his head, which allows him to project images in front of him.
He uses his own heart to power the equipment. As long as he remains alive, he will never have to charge the enhancements. However, should the equipment short out, it could cause a massive heart attack.

He eventually stowed away on a small cargo ship and reached Trade Station Alpha where he met Julius and convinced Julius to allow him to join.

It lands on a large asteroid and lowers the drilling platform, the lasers then chip away at the rock and a conveyor brings it up to the mineral extractor, the minerals are then melted down into raw materials and stored in the cargo bays.

Ok, I'm reading your CS now, everyone. So I'll post them as I read them:

Jynxlynx: I assume this asteroid belt where you lost your Mech is in another system, right? It's ok if it is, I just want to make sure. I can write that they were out of the solar system for a while, so that's why it took Julius over a year to call Chris. I've already decided that Julius was waiting for his cousin to grow up before recruiting him, now that they travel out of the system regularly, I can say this was the first time they were in the solar system since his 18th birthday. Anyways, you're approved.

Bobo: I kind of like the idea of a cyborg-zombie-pirate, but I'm wondering what would happen if the ship runs into his own people. Also, if they conquer and exploit worlds like that, how accepted would he be among other races? Seems like their could be a good bit of resentment there. Anyway, approved.

Pathfinder: That explains how that got to be part of Earth Mythos. Of course, we've got an elf, so your people wouldn't have been the first alien race to visit Earth.
I'm assuming that the various English sounding names (Orkz, Mek Boyz, etc.) are just accented translations, or how they pronounce it when speaking English?
Also, how did they go into space if they don't like energy based tech? I like the idea of their tech being built for durability, though. Very practical when your people are that strong, and have few technicians to keep their stuff working.
It also sounds like they may have been engineered for the planet, especially with the genetic knowledge thing.
Regardless, accepted.

Tawkua: I hope she's got experience with hyperspace piloting. Far from solar systems, it can get a bit treacherous for small ships, at least until enough big ships move through the area that it "calms down" (aka: runs out of plasma storms, trapped meteors, tachyon streamers, etc.)
A hacker would definitely come in handy too. Mind if I give the ship an especially slippery alien computer virus so he has something to do in the beginning?
Accepted.

Metronome: Interesting mercenaries. Yasha sounds like someone Julius would get along with really well. I suspect that the Chef will be the only one, though, so there isn't really a "human" section in the kitchen on the ship. Or are they on the station, and Julius hasn't hired them yet? Either way's fine. There would definitely be demand for their services on the station and the ship.
Accepted.

Swarley: We could use a good navigator. I also like the Atlas Tattoo. Accepted.

Yeah it is, I didn't make up any specifics yet but it was lost while she was part of the exploration fleet so it is in a system infested with pirates currently.

Name: Eliza Marko
Age: 25
Species: Human
Personality: Chill and fun loving. Eliza is someone who seems to be happy pretty much all the time, but not in a way that is obnoxious, she is usually very relaxed for someone so outgoing.
Skills overview: Has been on ships since she was 17, been navigating since she was 19, has some experience running small smuggling vessels between worlds.
Position on crew: Navigator
Years on crew: 2 years
Bio: Eliza was born to a poor family in a colony on Mars. Her parents moved there looking for a new life after Earth became more and more crowded, though what they found on the new world was more or less the same than what they were living in on Earth. They did their best though, raising their daughter to the norms of the Tausav culture (A small sect of people living in Bosnia who thrived in the late 23rd century but whose numbers have been dwindling ever since). This involved constant dying of Eliza's hair as well as the cultural makeup. This was shunned by most of Eliza's peers, as many of them had not ever known of the Tausav people. Eliza looked to the skies for comfort, always dreaming of one day getting to fly in between the beautiful stars.

At the age of seventeen Eliza dropped out of school and took up a low level job on a cargo ship. She was particularly interested in navigation and spent a lot of time with the navigator on the ship. By the time she was nineteen she was junior navigator on shipping runs between galaxies for a few years before breaking out on her own to do some less than legal work. After a couple years doing that with moderate degrees of success she decided it was probably better she didn't run a ship without help. She stayed at Trade Station Alpha for a couple months before meeting Julius at a time when she was low on cash.

Hope this is all okay and that I didn't screw anything up.
