"Actually..." Kharloz thought for a moment about his next words. The truth of the matter was that he didn't really need to go anywhere. He always let the world take him to his next destination. "...Would it be alright if I went to Portsmouth with you? I realize I am asking a bit too much here but I swear on my honor that I will find a way to repay you for your kindness, Sleeth."

"I had already intented to take you there if your stop wasn't on the way, there's no kindness being done here. The story of life, fate as the children of dust call it, has written you a convenience it seems. Every action in your life put you in that spot, at that time. Who am I to deny you a new entry?" He asks, having a strong belief in fate but also the ability to choose how each chapter would turn out. Decisions were not fate, where they took you was.

"While your words are wise, I have to respectfully disagree. I am inclined to believe that our actions and where we get to are of our own, not of this 'fate'. The idea of being chained by a set future from the day you are born to the day you die doesn't sit well with me. Besides, it wouldn't be right to not repay you in some way. My promise still stands and I am honorbound to see it through. I hope you can understand. I'd be long gone by now if it weren't for our what you call 'fated' meeting."

An ominous atmosphere loomed over the city of North Thystys. The sky grew dark and and thunder loomed on the horizon. The people in the city stopped and looked to the north where a sacred monument stood marking the burial of the first dragon. For thousands of years it remained sacred ground and high treason against the world to step foot within the tombs. Energy built up around the base and formed a spiral of dark magic, a barrier from intruders and a dark omen of the ritual going on inside. The Earth trembled and quaked as the barrier touched the sky. Unnatural lightning flashed and the clouds grew darker, they now covered the sky from horizon to horizon. An early night fell upon North Thystys and people began to run to their homes abandoning all they were doing. A surge of energy burst forth from the ritual site, destroying the four pillars that marked the sacred grounds. This energy did not slow, rather lost potency, no longer destroying buildings but still strong enough for even the non-arcane users to feel its passing. It swept slowly across the world in less than an hour. A dark presence now befell Ellira, and all were aware. From the deepest caves within the ground to the highest peaks of the tallest mountains.

Sleeth turned to explain how his thoughts worked but a noise in the distance startled him. He turned to where off in the distance there was a great pillar rising in the sky. "Ridicio's gaze what the f- Never mind, move." He tells the horse, putting it into full gallop. He looked behind him momentarily, smirking at the Orc. "Hang on tight, we're going off road." He warns before turning to take a straight shot for the port.

Suddenly, a ripple - no, a surge of energy rippled throughout Thomas' body. He collapsed to the ground, breathing heavily. His eyes were turning pale.
"Thomas! THOMAS!" Bjorn dropped the plans and scurried over to him. "Don't die on me NOW-"
"R-relax." Thomas' cheeks paled a little. "I-I think I can stand up." The dwarf helped Thomas to his feet. "The plans, Bjorn. Put them in the scroll case and put them inside the knapsack. My.. My contraptions, too. In the bag. P-please, carry it for me. I'll lead the way to the house."
The dwarf did as he was told, and slung the knapsack over his back. He followed Thomas out the door, helping him stand up occasionally, earning the bewildered looks of a few patrons. It was a short walk away from the workshop. When they got there, Thom was finally able to stand up by himself and walk up to his room.
"T-there's a spare bedroom ye can use. But for now, come up to mine and review the plans with me."
Bjorn followed the gnome up to his room, pushing open the old wooden door. The room was filled with contraptions and small cogs. A three year old with a passion for eating anything that they saw would never survive here. Luckily, amid the mess one could spot a simple drawing board and two chairs. The two men each took a seat, and Thomas laid down the plans.
"B-Bjorn. I don't know... I felt this amazingly potent surge of energy flow through me. It was.. a bit too much." He snatched a gaze out of the window. "Something's coming."
"Yes, I felt it too." The dwarf slowly nodded, putting a reassuring meaty hand on the gnome's shoulder to make him feel better. "Let's get to work, shall we?"

Just after speaking, lightning roared above and darkened the sky as far as the eye could see. "Nighttime so suddenly?" It was something he had never seen before and shivered at the thought of what had happened. He was sure of one thing, it was not good. Kharloz braced himself for the horse's dash towards the port city. He could see it from here by now.

As the last of the patrons of the tavern started to turn in for the night Silvana was finishing up cleaning some dishes, while her mother was in the office going through todays transactions. When she suddenly felt the earth starting to shake and a violent surge of magic started to flow through the area, it didn't feel right as she quickly made a run for the door to look out. The night sky suddenly had gotten darker the moon and stars were completely blocked out by darkness, Elinoa felt it as well and quickly went to see where her daughter was. "It doesn't feel right." The half elf said looking at her mother which she nodded, and quickly escorted her daughter inside making sure that the doors were locked tightly.

The Earth groaned and rumbled again then began to crack around the site of the spiraling energy. A ear splitting roaring could be heard for miles. The cracked ground began to fall into a large cavern. Molten rock flowed like a river hundreds of feet below. The Ritual site stood atop a white stone tower that extended from the flowing rock to the surface. Only the ground supported by white stone arches which converged on the tower and spread out into the walls of the cavern remained stable and safe to walk on. But it was open ground and one would easily be spotted if they attempted to cross. Another roar and a groan, the river of lava was as turbulent as the ground, splashing up around the tower's base and cooling, turning to obsidian which kept the tower standing.
