Suddenly, a ripple - no, a surge of energy rippled throughout Thomas' body. He collapsed to the ground, breathing heavily. His eyes were turning pale.
"Thomas! THOMAS!" Bjorn dropped the plans and scurried over to him. "Don't die on me NOW-"
"R-relax." Thomas' cheeks paled a little. "I-I think I can stand up." The dwarf helped Thomas to his feet. "The plans, Bjorn. Put them in the scroll case and put them inside the knapsack. My.. My contraptions, too. In the bag. P-please, carry it for me. I'll lead the way to the house."
The dwarf did as he was told, and slung the knapsack over his back. He followed Thomas out the door, helping him stand up occasionally, earning the bewildered looks of a few patrons. It was a short walk away from the workshop. When they got there, Thom was finally able to stand up by himself and walk up to his room.
"T-there's a spare bedroom ye can use. But for now, come up to mine and review the plans with me."
Bjorn followed the gnome up to his room, pushing open the old wooden door. The room was filled with contraptions and small cogs. A three year old with a passion for eating anything that they saw would never survive here. Luckily, amid the mess one could spot a simple drawing board and two chairs. The two men each took a seat, and Thomas laid down the plans.
"B-Bjorn. I don't know... I felt this amazingly potent surge of energy flow through me. It was.. a bit too much." He snatched a gaze out of the window. "Something's coming."
"Yes, I felt it too." The dwarf slowly nodded, putting a reassuring meaty hand on the gnome's shoulder to make him feel better. "Let's get to work, shall we?"
