Andae That Charming Bastard from Way back When

Member Seen 3 yrs ago

The War of Trangression, the series of events that sealed the conflict between Cocoon, and the sprawling plains of Gran Pulse, the same war that saw the birth of Ragnarok, an almighty being that struck, and permanently scarred Cocoon, the history books fail to explain a great deal of what happened during this war, and now, only the survivors of that great war, hundreds of years ago, the L'cie who had completed their Foci, remember the tale, this, is their story.
Okay, so, that's the general premise of the game, players will take on the roles of those L'cie above mentioned, the game is set HUNDREDS of years before the FFXIII canon plot, so, characters such as Lightning, Snow, Hope, etc, etc do NOT exist. Fang and Vanille may make an appearance LATER ON in the game. And finally, Sarah, Noel and Mog may possibly pop through a time-gate, just to add some familiarity to the actual games.

When a character initially joins the game, they will be coming to after their transformation into L'cie, a little bit of background is fine, in the characters INTRODUCTION post only, after that, they may refer to small incidents during conversation.
Differences between RP L'cie and Canon L'cie are as follows.

Eidolon's: There are NO Eidolon's in this RP, at least, not in the sense that there are in the First FFXIII game, no eidoliths, and there are a lot more of the creatures available. More on the 'Eidolon's' later.

Roles: There are 10 available roles, 5 Offensive, and 5 Defensive, they are as follows.
Offensive Roles.
Commando.
Ravager.
Saboteur.
Summoner.
Vampire.

Defensive Roles.
Sentinel.
Synergist.
Medic.
Juggernaut.
Wraith.

Any of you familiar with the roles, will be familiar with the first three in both, the four additional roles provide the following.

Offensive:

Summoner. A Summoner has the ability to summon one of three Eidolon's to assist them in battle, EACH Summoner has 3 possible Eidolons they can call forth, and can only summon one at a time. the Eidolon list will come later.

Vampire, A cross between a Saboteur, and a Medic, Mana Points (MP) are present in this RP, and as such, a Vampire has the ability to cast certain spells with no MP cost, but said spells are unable to deal major damage to an enemy, a common ability used by Vampires, is Osmose, which drains MP from the target enemy, and transfers it either to themselves, or an ally, the same works with Drain, but drawing Health as opposed Mana, however, the Vampire becomes more dangerous as it grows in strength, with the ability to cast spells such as Holy and Ultima, and when at it's most powerful, Flare and Nova are common abilities. While the Vampire role tends to promote the more Medicinal side of it's combination, ALL abilities are harmful to the enemy, making this role, an offensive.

Defensive:

Juggernaut, The Juggernaut is often mistaken for a Sentinel, but is much, much more than that. While less effective than a sentinel at lower levels, the Juggernaut role becomes, as it grows, almost impenetrable to any and all forms of attack. While abilities such as Steelguard and Mediguard are this roles staple, it also has access to abilities such as Protect and Shell, for a longer lasting defence. This ability to defend itself, and it's allies, isn't all the Juggernaut can do, an ability unique to each Juggernaut allows these behemoths of the battlefield to unleash devastating damage to the enemy, while keeping allies relatively safe, Only the bravest, and most foolhardy L'cie choose to take this role on.

Wraith, Many L'cie feel that this role should be of the offensive variety, a combination of Ravager and Synergist, the Wraith is the ultimate killing machine, like the Juggernaut, the Wraith can cast the two staple Synergist spells of Protect and Shell, but also has access to the rest of the Synergist's repertoire, with Bravery, Faith, Reflect to name a few. Also at it's command, are the typical offensive spells that are availiable to the Ravaager, Fire, Thunder, etc, etc, And one ability unique to the Wraith alone, "Obliterate" while sounding extremely offensive, this ability is merely a pumped up variation of Dispell, with the added boost of Debrave, Deshell and other debuffing spells that are cast upon enemies, with their opposites being cast on allies.

NOTES: Because of the insurmountable power available to the four added classes, if ONE of them is chosen, then the character has access to NO OTHER ROLES, and is permanently a Summoner, Vampire, Juggernaut or Wraith

Weaponry: Weapons are a lot more... 'primitive' in this RP than they are in the Canon, due to the time difference of 6-700 years, while Cocoon are more advanced, with the ability to carry and weild firearms and high-powered energy weapons, there are NO WMD's and the Gunblade concept used by Lightning is still a prototype, so I don't want to see every single Cocoon L'cie carrying one.

Combat: Okay, this is an obvious difference, as far as I'm aware, Mahz hasn't set up anything we can use to resemble an ATB gauge, so, we'll use standard Arena rules regarding PvP combat, that's IF statements and autohit's only when surprising another character, you may also contact another player and arange a combat scenario between your characters, however, if one or both players are a part of a party of characters, then please, be sure to inform the other members of your party of the arangement.

I will allow you all to moderate your own combat, but, as soon as one of you comes bitching to me, I'll be scrutinizing the ENTIRE conflict, and come down like a tonne of very heavy objects upon the perpetrator.

More on Eidolon's: In this RP, the Eidolon's are seriously nerfed, and some, have even been removed, such as Alexander and Odin, due to being too OP.

Here, the Eidolons work a lot like the Espers from FFXII or the small creatures used by the YRP in FFX-2, meaning, they beasts summoned are less powerful, much smaller, and are used within the party, as opposed the other members mystically disappearing to make room for the Aeon, Eidolon, GF/Summon.

I will allow the players to choose which Eidolons they can summon, (ONLY IF USING THE SUMMONER ROLE) from the entire series, minus the following.

Odin.
Alexander.
Bahamut ZERO.
Neo Bahamut.
Atomos.
Yojimbo.
Anima.
Knights of the Round.
The Magus Sisters.

Other than those *Counts* nine summons, it's all fair game, but remember, that at a low level, a Summoner's Eidolon's cannot access their more powerful attacks, for example, Ifrit would only have access to basic Fire spells, and Hellfire (As everyone knows is Ifrits most powerful attack) would remain unavailable until it reaches optimum strength.

Crystarium: YES it's making an appearance in this RP, however, it will not work in the same way as in the Canon setting. Read on. folks.

Each time a L'cie's Focus is completed, instead of entering Crystal Stasis, they will simply become more powerful. This, however, is the only simple thing about character advancement.

Upon completion of a Focus, a character will gain 1(ONE) Crystarium point, this point, can be used to learn a single ability in a single role, meaning, in order to reach full potential, a L'cie will need to complete multiple foci, however, if characters with different foci band together, and complete each others' tasks, the ALL of the party gain a point, not just the L'cie with that focus, meaning, a party of three L'cie, with three different foci, can complete ALL three foci, and ALL three characters will gain three Crystogen points.

Summoners, however, will gain 3 Crystogen points, allowing them to boost all three of their Eidolons, points can NOT be shared between Eidolons.
The Character Sheet.

Okay, this is pretty simple, below is a template, please follow it, if you have a pre-existing sheet/character idea, I implore you to edit and remoddel to fit. Thank you.

Okay, that's that down, I'll wait to see what other people come up with first, and answer any questions you may have regarding the differences/character sheet. I have only 1 rule, besides RpG rules and basic ettiquete/common sense. And that is HAVE FUN!

Name: Skye Arrabella
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Affiliation: Cocoon, Bodhum.

Weapons: ]She uses a staff, Cradle, for magic and healing. The staff is as strong as can be, unbreakable, and will return to Skye's hand when called.

Roles: Medic/Ravager
Abilities:

Fal'Cie: Siren

Persona: Skye is a hard working person. She is considered selfless and kind, sometimes a bit too much. Skye herself claims that everything she does, she does because someone else would have done it for her too. She always sees the positive side of things, but when there is no such thing, it saddens her. She follows people who she believes has better judgement than her, but she's not afraid to show her opinion.

Background: Skye had come to the Bodhum shrine to think, like she had done many other times. She sat down with crossed legs and looked at the statue of Siren. She never quite knew the story behind this particular Fal'Cie. It was quiet in the shrine and Skye enjoyed that. But this time it was different. There was a light voice sounding trough her ears, seemingly whispering her name. She still does not know what drove her to do it, but she stood up and walked slowly to the statue. The young Bodhum girl raised her hand, and as soon as she touched the leg of Siren, an immense force blew her back, knocking her unconscious. After she was found and brought home, Skye noticed a strange mark on her upper thigh. It didn't take her long to realize what happened. She fled to the Sunleth Waterscape, where she tried to get her thoughts in order and become familiar with her new abilities.

Name: Anderus Mikama

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Appearance:

Affiliation: Gran Pulse

Weapon: Andae relies on his Fists and his feet, he IS his own weapon.

Roles: Juggernaut (Sentinel/Synergist/Commando.)

Abilities:

Fal'Cie: Cactuar

Persona: Often seen as Coldhearted and Cruel, Anderus is, in truth, fiercely loyal to those he sees and friends and allies, his dedication to duty has become more apparent since becoming a L'cie.

Background: Before his transformation, Anderus was merely a miner, following the trails left by the Fal'cie Atomos beneath the plains of The Archyite Steppe and the peaks of Yaschas Massif. His main role in these tunnels was the finding, and excavating of minerals and the remnants of Pulse Machinery in order to rebuild and repair the machines still in use by the inhabitants of Gran Pulse. Returning to his home in Oerba for the nights in order to do it again.

It was on a journey home that he encountered the shell of the Fal'cie Cactuar, and suddenly blacked out, awakening almost a year later, the brand of the L'cie upon his left Bicep.

Name: Sky Thierry

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Appearance: Sky stands at five feet eleven inches, and possesses light brown eyes which can possess a red hue in certain light. His hair is black and he usually wears his preferred black outfit. Though it is usually covered by his gloves, Sky's brand is situated upon the back of his left hand.

Affiliation: Gran Pulse

Weapon(s):

Caelestis - Sky's primary weapon. This one handed longsword possesses the ability to vibrate its blade at an incredible rate of speed. Resulting in an vast increase to the weapon's cutting capabilities. So much so that it is rumored capable of cutting though any substance. When this feature is active, the sword emits a continuous high pitched whine and its blade takes on a red glow. This sound is frequently referred to by Sky as 'Caelestis' Cry'. While Sky always carried this weapon, even prior to becoming a L'cie, its ability to increase its cutting power appears to be magical in origin. As it was first discovered after he was branded.

Triumvirate - Sky's primary weapon after his transformation. This triple-barreled revolver pistol features the ability to fire projectiles from all three barrels. Both simultaneously and at staggered intervals. Because the weapon is powered by Sky's magical abilities, it is capable of being fired indefinitely. Limited only by Sky's level of magical prowess and his physical stamina. When fired, the weapon utters a deep and boisterous series of 'bangs'. Which Sky refers to as his 'rolling thunder'. It should be noted that Triumvirate is formed by magically transmuting Caelestis. (Only available during 'Transmutation'. See Abilities.)

Roles: Commando, Medic

Abilities:

Fal'Cie: Fenrir

Persona: Sky's mind is best described as a scattered mess. As such, many often wonder how he has managed to avoid becoming a Cieth. Outwardly, he is angered irritable and sarcastic, possessing little patience, if any, for those he deems 'weak' or 'fragile'. While internally, he constantly experiences several clashes of conflicting emotions. The most notable being between hatred and love. As his love for all living things is often the cause of his hatred towards them.

Background: Prior to becoming a L'cie, Sky resided within his birth place of Bodham. There, he laboured as a technologist. Building and programing various machines and mechanisms along side his father. However, all that changed when he accompanied his father on a scavenging trip one day.

During their trip, Sky's father, Protus, was confronted by a L'cie, who appeared to be on the verge of becoming a Cieth. In an attempt to protect his father, Sky tackled the L'cie, forcing her off a cliff. He accompanied her over. It was during his fall that the Fal'cie Fenrir, branded him, as an award for defeating his L'cie champion. It was only recently that Sky awoke and was forced to face his fate.

I was hoping to be the vampire role since I like saboteur but ah well. Looks like Pulse is gonna be missing a Ravager, unless we need one in which case I'll make the switch.

I just really like Saboteur.

Name: Kiani Selwyn

Age: 22

Gender: Female

Appearance:

Affiliation:[/b[ Gran Pulse

[b]Weapon:
Chaejig. Kiani wields a bladed whip that she keeps coiled around her waist when not in use. The range of the whip allows her to stay at a medium range while more front-line oriented people draw the focus. When cracking the whip, the edges attack the flesh and skin, making it work more effectively against opponents who aren't covered in armor. The whip makes attempts to rend armor, but at the risk of damaging the blades. To those unfamiliar with it, it looks like a sword when not coiled, but it cannot be used as such, it's just a trick of the eye.

Roles: Saboteur, Synergist

Abilities:

Fal'Cie: Bismarck

Persona: Kiani is rather lazy, preferring to sneak off and let others do the tasks she was assigned; she would much rather spend time at the Sulya Springs, going for a swim than hunting out on the plains with her clan. She's not a huge fan of violence, putting her at odds with her clan whose prmary focus is on hunting and making sure the village has enough food during dry seasons. Though a pacifist in so many terms, Kiani is outspoken and blunt, voicing her complaints and issues without a second thought. This has made her seem stand-offish and arrogant, which is partially true. Self preservation is crucial to Kiani, and her not wanting to put herself in danger and just lazily spend the days is out of a desire to keep herself alive and away from danger.

Background: Born into a hunting clan who gathered food and furs for nearby villages, Kiani made her grievances with hunting known by going to the village smith and demanding he turn her ceremonial family sword into a whip, which was seen as an insult to the customs and traditions. Rarely did Kiani hunt, sneaking off to enjoy the solitude and beauty of Sulya Springs, watching from under the water as the miners made their way through the springs towards Oerba. The Springs were her hunting grounds in a sense, spending her time there, using her whip to swing from the fauna, chasing the small monsters around, and swimming.

She didn't know her unique brand of training would come in handy. Bismarck, the fal'Cie overseeing the Sulya Springs, would make her into a l'Cie, placing the brand on her neck, which she covers with her choker. When she was branded, she was done so underwater and was presumed to have drowned by her clan. When she awoke following the branding, she found herself unprepared for the future a life as a l'Cie held.

Glad to see that you didn't all jump on the mega powerful Roles.

Would if be possible for either Mizuho or Makatsume Haru to use one of the super Roles, that way, we'll be able to balance out the power levels for both factions.

Prefferably either Vampire or Summoner, since we appear to have a mainly defence oriented Pulse group (With Anderus and Kiani both having Synergist abilities xD)

Also, if you all view my CS, I'd like you to set up your abilities in the same way, listing ALL Abilities available to that role, and then MARK 3 for each role, however, as you noticed with my Juggernaut, not ALL of a certain role's abilities will be available to a character in the grand scheme of things, try to nerf the roles, don't want any world ending battles later on, that is reserved for Fang and Vanille.
