That might sound too harsh, but have you? I mean I never got the feeling until now on one of my roleplays. Well what about, Have you ever lost interest on your own roleplay? But the important part of the question is: Why?

There have been times where I've completely lost interest in my own rps, yes. It mainly was cause my real life problems affected my mood and thus the interest to continue an rp was diminished to an all-time low. Though, sometimes it was just some of the people who entered got on my nerves and thus made me discontinue the rp altogether.

I think in my particular case it's more of a personality thing overall. I'm overly critical of everything I do, same as with my RP when I used to RP. Others could be wowed, but I'd always find them inadequate for some reason.

As for losing interest in an RP, that's another personality flaw of mine. I grow bored easily, and often want to move on to something else. That's probably the reason why I quit rping in general... being constantly overcritical of myself often had me cranking out unnecessary post lengths ( I'd say some would call it fluff? ) going beyond what was called for, and over time I'd grow bored with what I was doing since I had so many ideas I wanted to act on, but was never able to dedicate myself to any of them.

I once decided that an RP I had a hand in creating could go hang, but it wasn't so much that I hated the idea and more that I hated how the group had turned out. That being how the characters in the RP acted, or how they were managed by their players. I just couldn't stand to be a part of it anymore, so I just let it fall when it started go inactive.

I also called it quits on an RP I started once, but again, it wasn't that I hated the RP, but felt that I couldn't really accomplish what I had set out to do. I had wanted to have a sort of faction dynamic going on, but eventually there was too few people to have meaningful divisions.

Yes I have lost interest in roleplays mostly due to the other players not putting out enough content to allow me to make or change the story, people not posting enough, the character not turning out how I wanted them to, and real life or games taking over my interest instead of roleplaying.

Not really.

But that may have to do with my posting frequency (ie pretty much when I feel like it) and how I don't plan ahead too far so I often have to think on my feet.

Seems to happen with every single RP I try to start up, which is probably an extension of why I have a really bad case of self-defeat with my art and stories as well.

Aaaaall the time. I think I get excited by an idea, and then, the moment it's been realised as an IC, I find that that's all I really wanted to achieve and then gently wait for it to die.

As has been mentioned before; the growing bored easily. I fall victim to that quite a lot as well. Another thing that really drains my motivation is simply the way some people write. And I know that's mean, but some websites have this almost collective way of RPing that just doesn't suite me. The site I have in mind while typing this is a Dutch one on which people somehow have this habit of not even trying. Aside from a handful of exceptions that are the only reason I haven't ditched the site altogether, it's not even just oneliners. It's completely disinterested oneliners.
And that combined with most of them not being able to come up with some form of plottwist, I have a lot of trouble keeping RP's on that site, and similar ones, going.

But mostly I just have a really short attention span and get excited for something new far too quickly.

Only once and it was more that I lost a lot of good players and the replacements weren't doing it for me.

I remember this one time.

I was just starting on on Roleplayerguild and joined an RP in free.
I...Think you already know, at the word 'Free.'
It was about the SCP foundation.

All in all...

Standard Free Roleplay with people clueless about the setting.

Yeah, a few years back. It was a sequel to an RP ('d run before, and as the kind of GM I was, I gave my players relative creative freedom, since this one was more open worlded than the one before it. Well, I kinda lost track of what everyone all was doing, my main overarching plot started unraveling/getting interfered with by various player plots, and at some point I just stopped really caring. It was helped by one particular person joining who forced sense back into it, and some attempt to get that overarching plot back on track, but disagreement over it in the player base, and previous damage, meant that it was just a matter of time.

But I don't feel bad about it. I'll get around to another segment once I have a good idea.

*sighs*

I was in that RP, I liked my character, but then... yeah. Maybe it would've worked better as a casual RP where more of the users involved were more skilled.

Anyways, I have my own little sorry that's currently going on right now. It's a free RP, and I'm the GM. Ten Titans RP. Fun for a while, but then I just got bored. No real reason, besides fights in the OOC, for my boredom, I just lost interest. :/

I know it's happened, but I can't list specifics because it would of been info my brain decided it didn't need to hold onto.

I do know however that it was usually because the player community just didn't work. Not from a "They're new and can't do crap" angle, but a "These people clearly are not interested" and a "These players just insist on arguing and fighting for power/control" sort of issue.

I can't say I've ever come to hate one of my own creations, but with my attention span I have to admit I do sometimes lose interest in my roleplays and already find myself shifting forward to another RP ideas.

Yes, this has happened. Back on the old RPG I was GMing a Final Fantasy X roleplay. It started out smoothly, but then several pages in I began losing interest for some reason so would often go days without posting. It somehow kept going until the site fell though so I can thank my persistent players for that.

Me too. What's worse is that I've dropped out of RP's for selfish reasons, like at times I really disliked how MY character was turning out as opposed to other people's. In a way I feel that's a worse frustration than if everyone else in the RP were to be disappointing, not being able to find your feet with a new character/regretting a characterisation choice in hindsight.

It's a lot more difficult to explain anyhow, like "my own character and posts aren't good enough for me, so I don't wanna roleplay with you guys anymore!"

Well, not necessarily the RP itself, but as a whole, I just didn't like it. It was a combination of the people I had accepted into the RP, life, and the fact that my character just seemed to fall flat in all areas. The RP itself was great, the story was great (In my opinion at least), the setting was cool, it was just a very well thought out roleplay, but I just couldn't bring myself to keep at it.

I've never hated a RP, just the people in it.
