Where did all the f-16s go? There were like 1500 of them...
On character, yeah, I base part of him on the plane. For a plane is not just a lump of machinery that flies, it is a loyal friend and ally. At least, that's how he feels. I guess I will go with an attack aircraft, I suppose. Is the A-10 Thunderbolt available?

Look, you know what?
If you want to play, then play.

All the aircraft you are able to have at the moment are listed in the opening post. I will not be adding any extra ones for you, or anyone else.
The storyline and background are fine for everyone else. You're the only one bitching about it, and I'm sorry if the world and the idea I have in my game don't suit your idea of how it should be. Make your own game by all means, and throw whatever you like in it if that's a problem for you.

The F-16 and the A-10 will be dropping at the next unlock of aircraft, which will come when it is suitable for the storyline for them to be unlocked, and when I feel like it's a good time. Not before.

Join in, or don't join in. Right now, you're not exactly doing your best to endear yourself to me as a player by moaning about the selection of planes because you can't have what you want, when everyone else seems to have been able to pick something they're happy with and enthusiastic about.

Sorry if that's blunt, but for someone who was so enthusiastic about finding this game is here, you're being awfully whiny about it.

Okay, okay. Point made. I apologise for whining, I was a bit frustrated. But that's fine, that's all behind us.

Character Sheet

Name: Jackson Shaw

Nickname/Callsign: Broadsword.

Age: 37

Nationality: American.

Appearance: Jackson Shaw is an adult male of fair complexion, standing at a height of six feet and two inches. He has strong, sort of square features along with a short, regulation haircut which is dark in color. His brown eyes aren't anything special, though he does possess a small ovaloid birthmark under his left ear. His right ear is scarred with small parts of it missing. If he tells you he lost it in a barfight, don't buy it. What really happened was he tripped on a gravel pathway back home.

Aside from his regulation flightsuit, He generally tends to wear simple clothes. T-shirt, jeans, that sort of thing. He always wears mismatched socks, or rather, he always wears the same left sock. His 'lucky sock.' He adamantly believes he was discharged because he forgot to wear his sock that day. Or does he? When he's on the ground it can be difficult to tell if he's just spouting bullshit. But make no mistake, in the air he's as professional as they come.

Bio:
Jackson Shaw was born in the town of Richland Washington in 1981. Truly, it was a boring town. Sure it had history, what with the work on the atomic bomb, but that's about it. Hell, the running joke of the place was that nobody could find anything to do. Anyway, his early life was unremarkable, save for dreams of flight. As an airline pilot.

However, after the Heavenfall, a surge of patriotism left him joining the military instead. He proved to be an excellent pilot in most regards, though he was a bit... odd. In fact, such was his skill he was among those chosen to test the brand new A.M.M.I system in 2009, and was one of the few pilots the system hadn't rejected. Though the program was discontinued, his plane still bore the modifications (it worked for him, and it would cost too much money to put everything back in. Three cheers for laziness!). However he was a bit of a glory hog and was awfully reckless, eventually culminating in an issue with a water tower, a dead sniper, and a small village of partially deafened people. thus leading to his discharge in in July of 2010. His plane sat untouched, for only he could fly it (in reality, it was far obsolete save the A.I and nobody could be bothered to salvage it, so it was sent to an aircraft boneyard).

Later on, in their desperation the Avalon institute came across his service record and he was chosen with an attitude that basically boiled down to 'Fuck it! We need all the help we can get!' and was offered a place on the Nimue, with the stipulation that the INSTANT he puts anyone else in danger for some stupid stunt, he was out. Naturally, he'd pay anything to fly again...

Service Record:

Aircraft Details
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is a fourth-generation, supersonic, twinjet, two-seat, variable-sweep wing fighter aircraft. The Tomcat was developed for the United States Navy's Naval Fighter Experimental (VFX) program following the collapse of the F-111B project. The F-14 was the first of the American teen-series fighters which were designed incorporating the experience of air combat against MiG fighters during the Vietnam War.

The F-14D variant was first delivered in 1991. The original TF-30 engines were replaced with GE F110-400 engines, similar to the F-14B. The F-14D also included newer digital avionics systems including a glass cockpit and replaced the AWG-9 with the newer AN/APG-71 radar. Other systems included the Airborne Self Protection Jammer (ASPJ), Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS), SJU-17(V) Naval Aircrew Common Ejection Seats (NACES) and Infra-red search and track (IRST).[71]

This plane was further modified with an advanced A.I system (codenamed A.M.M.I or Advanced Munitions Management Intelligence, though to be honest the name was probably chosen as test pilots had taken to calling it Amy) intended to replace the co-pilot, leading to the designation of F-14D-AI. Testing was cancelled when the AI was found to be less than co-operative. Major Shaw calls it 'picky' about its partners, which is completely ridiculous. Nonetheless, this model handles it's job well enough, but oddly enough only when he's in the pilot seat.

Name of Aircraft: The Carnifex (F-14D-AI Super Tomcat)

Profile Link: (I don't understand this one)

Modifications: No non-cosmetic upgrades, stock in that regard. The previous statement was false, as the co-pilot's seat was ripped out to make room for an advanced A.I system that would take said co-pilot's place. Strangely, it only seems to function when Major Shaw is piloting the aircraft.

Personal Color Scheme: Stock, save decals along the front edge of the wings meant to emulate blood-spatters. This color scheme is a result of a story Jackson once told in which he claims to have killed an enemy sniper on a water tower with the wing of his aircraft. Naturally, nobody buys it. Aside from that, he has a habit of painting expletives and insults on the plane's missiles and bombs.

Weapon Systems:
M-61 Vulcan 20mm cannon.
2 Guided Penetration Bombs
4 Sidewinder AAMs

Is that acceptable? I'm not sure how to approach service record however, and would appreciate a little assistance. Being just a guy I have no Idea how one actually progresses through the military...

Ill have my CS posted shortly. I'll stick with a F-4 for now and then I'll wait and see what becomes available later.

As much as I love Phantom's, I was concerned with having one guy fly a two seater airplane. Then I realized that the characters in the Ace Combat do that shit all the time.

My idea was an A.I, but you can just have a nameless, voiceless peon in the back, probably.

Name: Benjamin Vaughn

Nickname/Callsign: Raven

Age: 29

Nationality: American

Appearance: [img]http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/x/u-s-navy-fighter-pilot-8455781.jpg[/i]

Bio: Ben was born in the western part of Washington State, but when the meteor hit, everything west of the Cascade mountains sank into the sea. Fortunately for Ben and his family, they were out of state, as Ben's Father flew for USAF. He remember's bits and pieces of home, but he understands that his old home is gone now.

Ben's father loved to fly, and he instilled that love into his son. Ben wanted nothing more than to follow in his father's footsteps. Though he is not the young boy he used to be, and the rigors of flying in battle have changed his perceptions, he still loves to fly.

Service Record: His first combat actions were not in the United States Air Force, but with the private military contractor Artemis, where he performed very well. He cut his teeth flying combat missions in Southern Africa, flying against other PMC's. After nearly six years of flying under Artemis, a disagreement with upper management forced him to leave the company, but not before smuggling an old, worn out F-4E Phantom. Since, then, he has been trying to update the jet, while working on jobs, none of which involved flying. When he got the call from Avalon, he went for it, wanting nothing more than to fly again.

Name of Aircraft:

Name: Karen Lóng Xiang

Nickname/Callsign: Turncoat

Age: 31

Nationality: Taiwanese (Chinese defector)

Appearance:

Bio: Xiang was born outside of Shanghai in 1987. Prior to her enlistment in the People's Liberation Army Air Force, Xiang’s life was largely normal; education and her social life were the most significant worries of her youth. That changed when she was eleven years old, with the arrival of the '98 asteroid. The ensuing tsunamis along the coast of China forced her family to flee further inland, leaving behind their home and many valuable possessions, friends and ambitions. The Chinese east coast fell into disarray following the destruction, causing strain on the government and its people. Many of Xiang's childhood friends likely perished in the opening waves of the disaster, as she has never been able to reconnect with them.

At the age of eighteen, one year after the signing of the September Agreement, Xiang was conscripted into military service. It was a rare instance of the PLA enforcing a formal draft, which was necessitated following the loss of a sizable chunk of its population to the '98 asteroid. Xiang ended up training in the People's Liberation Army Air Force, following the examination of her proficient tests; high marks for initiative, spacial awareness and mathematics earning her a ticket in the PLAAF. Like pilot Everett Yang Defei, Xiang was pulled into aviation duty when the PLAAF recognized a need for more pilots.

Just as Xian was starting to make a name for herself among her squadron, China initiated attacks on the UNF in a struggle for the increasingly hard-to-acquire raw materials and resources it needed. Xiang's fighter group was among those mobilized, and she spent a modest amount of time in the air. Her sorties were met with some initial success against the Japanese Self Defense Force, and she became a well-respected pilot among her peers. Despite this, Xiang couldn't bring her consciousness to justify the actions of the PLA in declaring war. Although she'd carry out her orders like the soldier she was trained to be, her heart was not invested in it.

During a sortie over Taiwan, Xiang shocked her flight with a final goodbye before zipping past Taiwanese airspace and announcing her defection. Over the next several weeks, Xiang's loyalty was screened by the Taiwanese, and she was eventually given a place in the Republic of China Air Force. Soon, she'd by flying missions against the very nation she had served a month before. While the notion of shooting down her former comrades was at first uncomfortable, Xiang felt as though she were doing the right thing, and using her skills to defend, rather than attack. Because of her defection and subsequent action against the Chinese, some began to refer to her as "Turncoat," which stuck.

When the UN caught its bearing following UNWO's initial strikes, it began sourcing pilots to recruit. Xiang's defection had become the subject of some debate, drawing the UN's attention. After reviewing her combat records, it was decided she'd be a strong addition to the Avalon Institute's Excalibur Squadron.

Service Record:
- 3 months in PLA, basic infantryman training
- 5 years in PLAAF, Limited international cross training. Combat action over Japan and Taiwan
- 8 years with ROCAF, Combat action throughout Pacific

Aircraft Details
The Northrop F-5A/B Freedom Fighter and the F-5E/F Tiger II are part of a family of light supersonic fighter aircraft, first designed in the late 1950's and with approximately 500 aircraft still in service as of 2014. Being smaller and simpler than contemporary aircraft such as the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II, the F-5 was significantly lower in cost to both procure and operate while maintaining high performance, making it popular on the export market. Though it was not procured in volume by the United States and thus has only a limited U.S. combat record, it was perhaps the most effective U.S. air-to-air fighter in the 1960s and early 1970s. In combat its small visual and radar cross section size and consequent detection difficulty often conferred the F-5 the advantage of surprise. The aircraft also has a high sortie rate, low accident rate, and high maneuverability. The flying qualities of the F-5 are often highly rated, comparable to the North American F-86 Sabre and the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon. Fiscally, the F-5 is reportedly unmatched among supersonic fighters, a contributing factor to its long service life.

Name of Aircraft: Northrop F-5E/AI Tiger IV

Profile Link: Northrop F-5

Modifications:
Standard Avalon Institute upgrades, including:
-AN/APG-81 AESA radar system
-Glass cockpit with multi-function displays
-Electronic warfare system
-External body-mounted conformal fuel-tanks (CFT's) for extended range
-External cameras to aid in high AoA and high-speed carrier landings
-Navalized configuration with powered fly-by-wire controls
-One-piece canopy for improved visibility
-Retractable in-flight refueling probe
-Thrust-vector-capable engine, with increased usage of light-weight composite, ceramic and alloy components
-Updated stores management systems integrating wider range of ordnance

Personal Colour Scheme:
The aircraft is painted in a two-tone scheme - the central fuselage in a light grey and the wings and flaps in a slightly darker shade, with the two colors intersecting in a wavy pattern. The rear tailfin sports a white silhouette of a dadao emblazoned on a red background. The aircraft has retained its ROCAF roundels.

Weapon Systems (Stock):
Guns: 2× 20 mm (0.787 in) M39A2 Revolver cannons in the nose, 280 rounds/gun

Hardpoints: 7 total (only pylon stations 3, 4 and 5 are wet-plumbed): 2× wing-tip AAM launch rails, 4× under-wing & 1× under-fuselage pylon stations with a capacity of 7,000 pounds (3,200 kg) and provisions to carry combinations of:

-2× LAU-5003 rocket pods (each with 19× CRV7 70 mm rockets); or
-2× LAU-10 rocket pods (each with 4× Zuni 127 mm rockets); or
-2× Matra rocket pods (each with 18× SNEB 68 mm rockets)

Missiles:
-4× AIM-9 Sidewinders or 4× AIM-120 AMRAAM air-to-air missile
-2× AGM-65 Maverick air-to-surface missiles
-AA-8 Aphid, AA-10 Alamo, AA-11 Archer and other Russian/Chinese AAMs (Iranian ver.)

Bombs: A variety of air-to-ground ordnance such as the Mark 80 series of unguided bombs (including 3 kg and 14 kg practice bombs), CBU-24/49/52/58 cluster bomb munitions, napalm bomb canisters and M129 Leaflet bomb, and laser-guided bombs of Paveway family.

Other: Up to 3× 150/275 U.S. gallon Sargent Fletcher drop tanks for ferry flight or extended range/loitering time.

You can have a second character if you like as an NPC. Alternatively, you can just pass it off as 'modernised avionics', and I'd be happy for that to be a good enough reason.

On to the characters!

Freeshooter, Jackson looks good. I like his bio, and I wouldn't worry too much about the service record - it's just there in case you'd like to have your character have a particular history or record of previous battles etc. that others might have heard of. Take a gander at the other approved characters' sheets for some reference.

Regarding the AI in the plane, I'm okay with it provisionally. I'm guessing it's not going to be an uber-genius AI, it's more there to carry out autopilot functions and act as a 2nd crewman, than a 'replacement human' or anything. That said, I can already see sneaky ways I can work it into the plot ¬,¬
Regarding the link to profile, it's there as a link to the Wiki page for the aircraft, nothing more exciting or in-depth than that.

Nobodyman, Benjamin looks fine too. A couple of your links are broken though, and a little of the formatting is off. The actual character looks fine though, no problems whatsoever :)

Aristo, your character looks great too. No problems with her whatsoever.

I'll add Karen, Benjamin and Jackson to the OP list of characters.
Regarding getting all three of you into the game, I'm off on holiday for a week on Saturday, so I figure I'll leave the game 'paused' for the meantime to allow the other possible players to post their characters in the interim, and once I'm back I'll write you guys in.

I think I gave you guys a heads up beforehand, but I've been drafted into the SAF and I'm enlisting tomorrow. Will be gone for the next...14 or so days, but I should be back by the 27th. After that I'll be gone five days a week and be home on the weekends, assuming my company and/or I don't do anything to get us detained.

Sorry for the lack of posts, guys. My Internet almost completely stopped working for several days without warning and really for no reason other than my school's Internet sucks, and it still hasn't entirely returned to full functionality yet. For some reason my phone's Internet is fine, which is how I'm typing this, but I'm not going to attempt to type an IC post with it.

I'm back from my holiday. It was a welcome and much-needed break from everything bugging me, and I feel like my batteries are recharged. I'll get a post up probably tomorrow moving us along in the mission.

For you new folks, I have an idea on how to introduce you all.
My thinking was that, originally, your characters had been scheduled to join the Nimue in the English Channel, after flying over from Aviano in Italy. However, with the attack that occurred from North Africa to Southern Europe, you all had to scramble on emergency sorties, and the ship left earlier than expected anyway, leaving you to join us late.

I will write in a mention of this in the next post, and the events and developments in that post will also point the way towards how you can step into the main game and its' plot/events too. It sounds a bit intangible and confusing now, but it'll make sense once I get the post up, I promise!

Great to hear your holiday went well and that you feel rested.

My computer Internet is slowly starting to work properly again, so I should be able to get a post out soon (at the very least after your next post).

Also, I downloaded AC: Infinity. Pretty fun (and definitely AC) so far and I love that it includes music from 4 and 5, but I wish I could do more before I had to wait for more fuel.
