Don't get me wrong, there are most certainly dropships on the Vigilance. The question is whether or not they would be player or NPC controlled since there would be very little to do other than land and sit around for awhile. Maybe the dropships could be given bomber capabilities and somehow fulfill multiple roles to keep things interesting?

I'd really advise making them similar to helicopters today. Multipurpose, they can be gunships, medical evac, dropships, all of that, but again, all up to you

My character, a newly promoted Rear-Admiral will be captaining the Vigilance. I will also be playing several other officers in the command staff just to move the roleplay along and steer it (literally) in the right direction.

Just haven't gotten around to making my character sheets just yet.

That was the plan, but there still wouldn't be much use for them in a space environment, other than to board other ships and ferry the Landers around. You can't really provide adequate strategic gunship support in a fully enclosed ship or colony.

It could go either way. "Marine" Corpsman are part of the US Navy but operate with US Marines and for all intents and purposes are considered marines. This tech specialist may be part of the Navy and operate with Landers as part of a specialized unit, or he could just be a Lander himself. Because of the Lander's vast training in ship technology, I would probably consider him a Lander, especially if he is conducting combat roles on a daily basis, but I will leave the final decision up to you.

Reversing gravity on a ship suddenly wouldn't really knock anyone unconscious. Maybe if they were in a full sprint and the zero gravity made them collide violently with a wall, but otherwise it wouldn't do much. Bullets and grenades would travel forever with no drop off, enemy soldiers would have a little trouble orienting themselves but overall it could make things more complicated for Landers rather than doing anything useful. If there was a makeshift barricade on a ship zero gravity would disperse it I suppose. Just my two cents.

Now what would be useful, is if this specialist could rework the gravity so that he could make the gravity pull from different orientations. For example, he could disable gravity then make it so the ceiling is now the gravity point, sending everyone flying into the ceiling and the Landers would now be fighting upside down, (Though gravity would be pulling on them as well so he would have to take that into consideration. The human body doesn't like being upside down.)

Confident and mature, this light-hearted pilot is a generally good natured man with strong feelings of camaraderie towards team mates. Prideful and loyal, Hawkins holds the pilots under his command to a higher standard than most, and is unafraid to break protocol and regulations in order to support his subordinates. Casually boastful of his abilities, Hawkins has a can-do attitude towards most tasks, though is typically a relaxed and easy going individual, able to keep calm in most circumstances. His confidence and boastful nature often come off as arrogant, and his lack of professionalism often garners him the disapproval of higher ranking officers, though they typically let it slide after seeing his combat data.

Biography:
A FSA Squadron Leader, Dominic was an only child, son to Admiral Hawkins and a civilian mother. With a strong military background, Dominic had a fairly rigid childhood, as his parents sent him to military academies for most of his youth, hoping to straighten out mischievous and troublesome tendencies- with limited results. As a youth Dominic was well known as the school clown and jokester, rarely taking any of his classes seriously. Nevertheless, Hawkins got good grades, and upon graduating from the esteemed U.S. Naval Academy, he was sent to Mars to become a Aerospace Pilot.

At the Mars Aerospace Academy, Dominic's humorous habits seemed to continue, whereupon he was given the nickname 'Joker', which has stuck to this day. While his teachers disliked him for his less-than-serious demeanor, Dominic had a talent for quickly learning aerospace maneuvers, and a knack for making up more unorthodox, but effective techniques on the fly. With such high promise, Dominic graduated near the top of his class, with high levels of mastery for the standard FSA PAF-40 Stingers, and the then-state-of-the-art Hl-08 Tornadoes. Dominic was assigned to the 24th Fighter Wing

During his 3 year tour with the 24th Fighter Wing, Dominic was quick to earn an 'ace' title, easily scoring 10 kills against various pirates within his first year. During this tour Dominic also qualified with the M-85 Bomber as well as the PAF-41 Super Stinger, clocking in hours of both simulation and actual flight time. It was also during this tour that Dominic earned his first callsign, 'Cobra', for his tendency and preference to use Pugachev's Cobra while in combat.

After a short leave period, Dominic was reassigned to the 53rd Fighter Wing, where he exclusively flew Hl-08s for the next three years. While with the 53rd Fighter Wing, Dominic was given the callsign 'Joker' for his habit of making jokes and smart remarks during sorties, and because several members of the 53rd were also part of Dominic's graduating class on Mars. While with the 53rd Fighter Wing, Dominic took part in the Siege of Cerol. This was a battle which took place between the remnants of the 16th FSA fleet, consisting of a carrier, a cruisers and a pair of frigates, attempting to break through a massive blockade/siege by a combined coalition of pirate factions. Cut off from reinforcements and facing the destruction of both the battlegroup, as well as the FSA colony, the beleaguered FSA ships were forced into employing a risky plan. Using a diversionary tactic, the remaining frigates and cruiser rushed the enemy lines, while the carrier deployed a small unit of fighters to destroy enemy capital ships and key structures. Stripped of most of their armaments and equipped with nuclear warheads, the small flight of 53rd fighters flew wide around the enemy lines in an attempt to strike the enemy from the rear.

During the attack, Dominic and his flight launched a total of six nuclear warheads at the pirate fleet from close proximity. The success of the 53rd Wing resulted in the destruction of the the pirate flagship as well as several other capital ships. Without the leadership keeping the pirate factions in line, the resulting infighting and disarray allowed the remaining FSA ships to hold out long enough for a relief fleet to rescue them. While the fleet had been decimated and reduced to a single carrier and cruiser,

Earning a medal for heroism, Dominic was granted several months leave to lick his wounds and heal his injuries, after which he was assigned back to the 53rd Fighter Wing, where he is close to completing his second 3-year tour. Now serving on The Vigilance, flying the Hl-10 Whirlwinds, Dominic 'Joker' Hawkins operates as a team leader, and squadron leader aboard the battlecruiser. Having clocked in extensive simulation time with the Hl-10 Whirlwind, Dominic is a capable and dependable fighter pilot.

Personality: She takes pride in her work and she's not shy about letting others know about it. A bit eccentric but practical and efficient with a mind well suited to her duties. It takes a lot to push her over the edge put she isn't above putting on a show for her subordinates in order to get them in line. Despite her military lineage she is quite lax when it comes to punishment, often preferring to deal with discipline "in house" rather than bothering the chain of command, for this she commands a lot of respect from her subordinates. She's quite professional in the workplace but off the clock she spends her time in the mess socializing and bragging about her 'sizable tool' which she regularly jokes is used to discipline her underlings. Delilah is, at her core, a passionate and caring person with a lewd sense of humor.

Biography:Delilah Dominique Delores was born as Dominic Jose Delores to 1st Sgt.(Ret.) Fernando "Nando" Delores and Lorena Delores. Her father was a LanderMarine with an accomplished, if not modest, military career. Her mother, Lorena, was a locally famous chef and even ran her own resturaunt for a time. They now both are enjoying their retirement in Tyson City, which was named for the scientist who first pioneered the expedition to colonize Mars (Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson).

From the start it was apparent that Delilah (Dominic at the time) was not your stereotypical child. She dismantled and rebuilt every appliance in the house by the time she was ten years old. Her tinkering, despite being a major nuisance to her parents, was a clear indication of her talent for engineering. Her parents encouraged her to learn more about her hobby which eventually flourished into the passion for engineering she has now.

A talent for tinkering wasn't her only unique trait, however. Delilah (Dominic at the time) would regularly express her desire to become female. After a few years of discussion her parents finally decided that it wasn't a 'phase' and that she truly desired to be female. So, in accordance with the Right to Physical Freedom Act, she began her first steps to becoming female at the age of fifteen and formally changed her name to Delilah Dominique Delores.

Delilah's schooling improved once this change took place and her academic career was looking promising. Once she graduated from high school she enrolled in the FSA Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps at West Point on Earth. There she excelled and eventually graduated an O-2 Lieutenant Junior Grade. From there she was stationed at Jupiter Station where she acted as an engineering design coordinator for several projects under development there. Some of the projects she oversaw contributed to the complex designs found on many FSA Navy spacecraft.

After a few years she grew tired of the safe and stable life aboard an R&D station. As many people feel when they are young she wanted adventure and excitement so she requested a posting aboard a ship. Her first posting was the Stalingrad, a recently commissioned destroyer with an untested crew. She spent several months aboard patrolling for rebels with no luck until a single engagement above a small nondescript almost destroyed the ship entirely. With a large number of casualties aboard Delilah was the highest ranking able-bodied engineering officer on-board and kept the Stalingrad running well enough to limp home for repairs with only 17 crewmen as opposed to the typical 50. It was both a traumatic experience and one that showed just how much potential she had as an officer. After their initial loss and return to duty the Stalingrad came back and won six victories against rebel forces before it was called back to have it's systems updated.

Shortly after the Stalingrad returned home Delilah was given a promotion to O-3 Lieutenant and was transferred to a larger ship, a battlecruiser called the El Dorado. Delilah essentially shared the same duties that she would as a Chief Engineering Duty Officer. She made up performance reviews for the crew, ran readiness drills for emergencies, and coordinated efforts between the bridge and engine-room to name a few. Delilah spent most of her military career aboard the El Dorado although she was briefly transferred to The Vigilant to assist in repairs only three weeks before the legendary battle of Lazarus. After five more years aboard the El Dorado she was finally promoted to O-4 LCDR and given the position of Chief Engineering Duty Officer in order to replace her commanding officer who had decided to retire. She continued to serve aboard the El Dorado until she was offered a chance to serve aboard a newly commissioned battlecruiser called Vigilance. Of course she jumped at the chance.

Notable Locations (for reference):
-Tyson City- The first and largest city on mars founded by Dr. Neil Degrasse Tyson. It was originally called 'Mars Colony One' but was later renamed in honor of it's founder just over 400 years ago.
-Jupiter Station- A large orbital research and development facility locked in geostationary orbit above Jupiter's equator. Officially an R&D outpost for the FSA Navy, it also facilitates civilian companies contracted to the military such as Aurelian Aerospace Industries.

That's kind of what I meant. I guess reversing gravity wasn't the right word. I meant that the ground suddenly becoming the ceiling and gravity acting accordingly would cause anyone not strapped in to fall on their heads. I was kind of leaning towards Landers as well.

Liking the character sheets so far, guys. I think at this rate we can be off to a nice start tomorrow. Be sure to check back frequently as there may be more information added since this entire roleplay is just a giant WIP right now, lol.

Okay, so am I allowed to work out the Standard Issue weaponry for the Landers? Because I'm looking at the picture, and a weapon from Killzone seems to suit it...

And it looks somewhat realistic too, unlike the weird stuff I got from Images searches

The picture on the front page of the 122nd has a soldier carrying something incredibly similar to a HK G36C. The exact appearance of the weapon doesn't really matter too much since this is a text based roleplay, but whatever you guys want the rifles to look like.

Yeah, plus too much emphasis on the looks of a gun makes an RP a CODwankfest sometimes.

Not necessarily, I like detail and description in my military-esque RP's, though I do agree there is a limit to how much attention you put to details like guns
