So would the housekeeper have to go through the same thing or will it she no feel pain and such?
No she wouldn't have to go through the pain unless she messes up or over uses the power.

As long as she is limited to one I'm fine with it but she need to get it through touch or something. Just hearing it wouldn't be enough. And yes you can join the life suck club. There's always room.
