"Yair!" A small voice calls out from down the hallway. Currently, the human the voice belonged to was struggling with the biggest, hardest trial she'd ever faced.
...
Making pancakes.
The poor girl stood in the small kitchenette she and her brother had been given, a puff of black smoke rising in the air in front of her. Standing at a measly 4'8, the black haired child cried her heart out. All she'd wanted was to make breakfast for her brother but she'd messed everything up. Soon, the smoke reached the fire alarm and a loud, piercing siren sounded throughout the room, piercing her brother's bedroom as well as most of the rooms around them. The officials downstairs were being notified and the fire department was being called. It was a government building, after all.
"Y-air!" She yelled again, her voice cracking from the tears, her body shaking as she hiccuped rather violently. One would be hard pressed to believe she was actually 18 years old. She looked more like a 10 year old, carrying on the way she did. Soon, she was on the floor, wailing like her life depended on it, a black heap of... what was pancake batter in the frying pan.
I only took my eyes off of it for a few seconds, max! Or... Was it longer...
Truthfully, Lucy had done what she usually did. She had been daydreaming. What about? Nothing at all. Simple things girls usually daydream about. Knights on shining white horses, unicorns frolicking in a forest meadow, the usual things. She didn't even think about using her powers to douse the flames... Lucky for her, anyway. It she had, she'd probably have made an even bigger mess.
