I take issue with hypocrisy. His mocking accusation that it was "beneath our standards" stuck in my throat a little, that's all.

Understandable.

I just wanted to tease you guys for putting out a couple half-joricks over something started by sex clones. ;D

We need to know whose clone would be the best in bed.

Dervish said It's terrifyingly easy to contaminate a water reservoir. For example, if someone were to pour just 2 liters of oil into a 390,000 liter reservoir, the entire supply of water is pretty much undrinkable and capable of making people sick. I would not want the nightmare of having to try to replace and treat that much water when it's an essential service and trying to clean out the entire reservoir from any lingering contaminants. Plus, if that happened, the operator would probably be looking and crushing fines and jail time for not securing the water supply.

So really, appreciate the efforts the guys in your municipality go through to make sure your water is clean and safe to drink as well as keeping up with demand. It's a very tricky line of work.

Really? 0.000005% oil content? Drink a litre, and you don't even get a millilitre of oil.

It's sort of impossible for anybody in Scotland to not be in full-on debate mode right now, I just couldn't help myself. I rather like that Joricks has become an empirical measurement. What is one Jorick though?

Toellner, you're taking an ethics class? If you're into that type of stuff there is a scientist at Madison that does bio-ethics. not the same as environmental, but around the same. I talked to her and she's great. She fought with another guy though from russia about ethics. He works on the super computer in the mortgridge institute of health.

Well it depends on how much I have to scroll and what mood I'm in.

And let me amend something...It comes out to slightly over half a jorick between the both of you. Just so we're clear.

Mmmhmm. It is that sensitive. Everything's measured in parts per million, and water standards are quite stringent. If there's any chance of short or long term health effects, the entire water source is contaminated.
