Alright, I should start working on the response from Amaryth's defenses soon.

With the current area me and Ellri have planned out the Fifth Dynasty will be on your border and will have a History with the Empire(As they'll both be really old powers).

Also can you move Ivano to a more general NPC list so anyone can use her? (Sorry Adila) but she'll become less common place as I am going to do a lot of work on the Fifth Dynasty so not add anymore (Myself) to the Vocators. If you want to world make but are a bit apprehensive to add to the Kalesian Empire right now feel free to add to the Vocators.

Ellri said One possible way of doing it is to have your relic grant your character the ability to both perceive and generate ultrasound, much like the bio sonar of numerous animals. That way, you won't have him as vulnerable to loud noises, and you're not reliant upon others making the noises you need to "see".

Isn't that what echolocation is though? One of the ways in which he has found out to excel in archery is to elevate the volume of sounds that tend to blend into the environment (he selects which source of sound he wants to quiet down or amplify, he doesn't make EVERYTHING louder or quieter), so the pings reverberate off of each other to create a more long ranged picture for him. I'm sorry if this doesn't seem clear, I'm doing my best to clarify because I did generalize the relic's power.

Also, for the replacing of the earrings, would a brooch, necklace, or small charm hanging off the belt work?

The way you mentioned it made me think more like daredevil, where he can see things by the reverberations of sound bouncing off whereas he can't actually make the sound and he is disorientated by really loud noises up close (Such as a church bell).

Yeah, he's a long ranged fighter and he can quiet a sound source up close enough so that the effects aren't that devastating.

This is the basics. I will likely add a lot in the coming days.
Fifth Dynasty of Kheris
Mode of Government: Dynastic, ruled by 5 "Gods" Kheris being the head.
Head of State: Kheris (More commonly known as The Pharaoh)
Religion The Pharaoh and the Four Kings
Society: Military defensive, industrialist, economic power, technological(Compared to others), large slave force, large standing army encase of provocation

View of Evokers: Evokers typically take on the role of Gods thanks to Kheris(God of Life), Numiel(Goddess of Fertility), Mareth(God of Death), Krig(God of War) and Nuriel(God of Wisdom). Those who are found to have a relic (And the abilities from said relic) are immediately brought to the capital of Niwey em Netjer (City from God) where they are then either brought into the religious system or executed. If they are executed no effort is made to preserve the relic which is then destroyed(If this is possible sparks) or buried in the Reswet-Ta(Dream land).

Location:

Stance on its Neighbors:

Views everyone as trade partners and is effective in trade due to barge systems and strong infrastructure. Has tense relations with the Kalesian Empire due to a long history (As two of the oldest standing Nations(That me and Ellri know off) however all out war has been avoided for generations).

This is the bare bones if it is accepted by sparks, I got a lot of culture to add. Basic sheets for all of the major dieties, images, religion, what kinda technology(for the time) they are using etc.

That's the bit I personally am unsure on. Is he modifying his ears? Cause that would indicate some form of shapeshifting that could advance... or is he modifying the actual sound in which case everyone will notice the difference?

This is just how I'm seeing it...

biological sonar is the combination of generating and gathering sounds in the ultrasound spectrum to create imagery. No matter how good the "software" is, the further away something is the more distorted the image will be. The ability to sort sounds based on source can easily be rather overpowered. Sorting based on wavelength is more plausible. But even then, loud noises will be disruptive, even in unfocused wavelengths. Even the best ear can't pinpoint the source of a sound if it has bounced a couple of times. The angular mathematics needed to calculate such are too extreme for anyone other than super geniuses to be capable of.

Thus, while one could theoretically get an image of where someone is through echolocation, it might have minor deviances. More importantly, though. How would he have learned how to aim at such a distance? A degree or three off, and the arrow misses by a considerable distance. Unless he constantly gets new images, with accuracy, he would have no proper means of knowing exactly where he is aiming with a bow. A throwing knife (or similar) on the other hand, is held in the hand. You know at all times exactly where your hand is, even in absolute darkness. You can feel how it will be thrown. With a close target that is seen through echolocation, knowing where to throw is merely a bit of practice.

There's a reason ultrasounds are used by animals with biological sonar rather than just passive listening. It offers more reliable images. To see properly using sound, the images have to update constantly.

A loud sound is still loud even if you're not paying attention to it. We imagine that a "sorting system" for sounds would be based in the brain, not in the ears. As such, ears would remain vulnerable to extreme noises or pressure deviances. Mind you, there aren't many people in this RP's world capable of easily generating such noises, so it should not be too high of a risk.

A brooch or necklace or something like that is something that is much harder to remove. Especially if it is worn beneath clothes/armor. Something hanging from the belt is about as exposed as earrings.

What is your goal with this power?

Actually, now that I think about it, I sort of want him to use it more defensively than offensively, so I guess he'd be using it as a dust shield of sorts? That doesn't really match his personality, though... I don't know, I think I might have him go for a different power (possibly light / illusion manipulation, or maybe a combination of electric and water manipulation).

EDIT: Oh, actually, I just realized what power would really fit in with his personality and everything. :D He really likes butterflies / birds in general, so maybe that could work as his power. (I really don't know how I missed that before...)

With electric I'd recommend one or the other. Water and Electricity can be a bad combination as together they make up for eachothers weaknesses. Yes Tyrell is Stone/Fire but all that does is give him some more defensive abilities.

So would it make better sense to just ditch archery?

What do you mean sorting based on wavelength? I know I can just google the term, but I did earlier while researching his power applications, and I'd rather have a layman's explanation for it. Does it determine the force of the sound?

I do like what you can possibly do with electricity though. In theory you should (Eventually) be able to construct energy barriers to protect yourself.

That is if Myth manages to expand his ability beyond throwing bolts of lightening.

If the ambushes from Vocators continue to occur, and he is targeted first, then eventually he'll end up throwing up a barrier just on Relic-induced instinct.

Makin' a CS, gonna be pimp. Also, hi Ellri.

Name: Baron Isaiah Markul, the Black Knight.

Age: Physically 37, as for the time between when he was born and now, fuck knows.

Gender: Male

Relic Description: The Blind Maiden's Tear.

The Tear is a simple pendant composed of a silver chain and a bright green gemstone that glows with a soft inner light. This relic grants its bearer several benefits, including:
High physical strength, and a physique to match.
A reserve of magic power to draw on, like a battery.
And immortality. Note, that that is not the same as invulnerability.

But the Tear's greatest power is its ability to bestow life on any object (Save corpses), easily creating golems. Once, the Tear was powerful enough to create entire armies of such creatures, now it may only have one active at a time. However, using it this way drains it of energy, meaning Markul has less power for his Geomancy.

Markul's unique power is Geomancy, magic that manipulates earth, stone, and metal. Refined metal (such as most armor and weapons) is much more difficult to manipulate; it takes the same amount of effort to crush some uppity adventurer's breastplate together as it does to drop an elephant sized boulder on him. As you can imagine, Geomancy is very powerful, though it is taxing to perform. And, seeing as how Markul is weaker than he used to be he only uses it when he really has to. As for the largest object he can move right now, that would be a stone boulder roughly 6 feet in diameter.

Skills: Being a big strong man, Markul has all the advantages that brings. He can hit stuff, he can lift stuff, yada yada. He is skilled with his chosen equipment (Heavy armor, tower shield, flail), and is a good smith to boot. He spends a lot of his free time putting 'vessels' together, though most people would call them dolls. Essentially like a blueprint for his golems. He finds such a task as designing a golem to be quite relaxing.

Background: A relic of a lost age himself, Markul is very, very old. Once your stereotypical 'dark lord' He amassed an army of golems and was planning to do the whole 'take over everything everywhere' plan. However, a group of intrepid adventurers went to stop him, yada yada. Sounds familiar right? it was all quite cliche, and the adventurers defeated him and sealed him away, but the exact details of this whole debacle were lost to time. Now, ages later, their spell has worn off and he has been released from his earthen coffin, only to find himself in a time he doesn't understand. The spell kept him physically preserved, but he has had quite a lot of time to think about things, as his mind was free to wander. He might not be what you expect...

Appearance: Markul is a very large man, owing to his Relic in some ways. He stands at just under eight feet tall, with the musculature to match. However, such a large frame obviously comes with drawbacks. He is never seen without his jet-black armor, a must for any dark lord. He never removes his helmet in the presence of others, and nobody knows what his face looks like (Likely to be all intimidating, appear less human. That, or shame...). He carries a large tower shield and a massive studded flail, the likes of which only he could really wield. Basically, big imposing villain, an image he worked on for over a decade.

Motivation: Markul wishes for... purpose, and redemption. He seeks atonement for his sins above all, but he is also a relic himself, and he longs for meaning.

@Sep, the Fifth Dynasty looks good. How old, roughly, are the Dynasty and the Empire? Oragos used to be a rather powerful nation itself, and is older than Othea.

@Freeshooter, working on reading it now. Looks interesting so far.

@Ellri, thanks for helping Maki, you're much more thorough and concise than I am in regards to constructive criticism.

@Ink-Berry, I would rather you not control dust since the power has some distinct ways to exploit it. If you want to come up with a different power, feel free.

It depends how long the it has been since the Old Kingdom has been around. The Dynasty has been around for a while simply as Kheris' relic lets him heal himself and others (At the cost of slaves lives) which more or less reverses the whole "Aging" thing humanity has going for it. So the Dynasty will probably be as old as you're willing it to be but they've never really been one for expansionism, Kalesians you'd have to check with Ellri but we've never decided who the Empress is or what her relic does, all we have decided is that there is a long running cold war between the Dynasty and the empire.

The Old Kingdom's collapse is open to discussion, I was aiming for 1,000 years ago but it could be more (not less). Oragos rose to power around 450 years ago (on this timeline), and it's decline occurred 100 years ago.
