Year 847 –

The cool summer’s breeze flooded the city, covering it in tranquillity and peace. The people inside had almost forgotten why they had been trapped inside the huge walls for so long. Titans were almost but a myth now, the only people seeing them the survey corps. A group of children laughed in enjoyment, flying their kites near the guard outpost garrison positioned on top of the wall.

Vernon sat in one of the chairs atop the wall sighing. “I can’t believe we graduated but still have to wait another day before choosing our branch.” He shook his head, watching the children. He shouted down. “HEY! Don’t you be playing near the wall, it aint’ safe you hear me?!” He now mumbled. “Damn kids...” He sighed. “I guess that was us at one time though.” A small smile broke across his face.

Jarred nodded. “That was us a few years ago; completely unaware of the dangers beyond the wall.” He sighed. “We have a job to do, come on.” He hoisted Vernon up and they walked along the wall, on patrol. One of the kites flew straight past his face and he caught the string. One of the children had let go of it by mistake. He waved and called down. “Don’t worry! I’ve got it! I’ll bring it down soon!” He smiled at them waving still. He put the kite in his kit bag before continuing the patrol with Vernon. He turned his head back to the kids, who continued to play. “Hey Vernon... do you think those kids will have a future outside the...”
CRASH

“Omph!” Jarred found himself spiralling in the air, along with Vernon. Vernon managed to use his manoeuvre gear to steady himself and plant against the wall, where as Jarred only managed to hit the wall with one rope, and fell to the ground, from the top of the wall. The one rope did cushion the impact of the fall, so he lived. In a daze, he lifted his head, blood dripping from his forehead. He heard Vernon shouting his name, to get up. He opened his eye, his vision blurred somewhat, to see civilians screaming and running in the opposite direction to the wall. His vision had now returned. There was a gigantic hole in the foot of the wall, and a giant titan foot sticking through that had made the damage. “No... no... T-titans.” He scarpered backwards on his ass a little. They were coming inside. Titans of all different sizes and class.

“JARRED!!!!!!!” Vernon yelled. But to no avail. He clearly couldn’t hear him. This was it. The titans had finally broken through. He didn’t know what to do, so he stood there, frozen on top of the wall.

Jarred was also frozen, a 12 meter now towering over him, starring him in the eye, baring its huge teeth. “No... not now.” He tried to use his gear, but his hands were shaking too much, to press the triggers. The titan reached out a colossal hand, but just before it took a hold of him, its eyes went up inside its head.

SLICE

“Troop! Get on your feet now! Regroup with your squad and fight these foul beasts until you can no longer fight!” It was Commander Lahar Leon of the garrison. He landed on a nearby rooftop, retracting his wires. He cracked his back. “I’m not cut out for this anymore...” He sighed, before firing off in a different direction, fillip midair, before slicing through the weak point of another titan. It was true. He was a titan killing legend. He landed on another rooftop. “GET UP!”
Jarred shook his head and stopped the shaking somewhat, before forcing himself onto his knees and onto his feet. He pressed the triggers on his gear, firing up to a rooftop next to Lahar. “What is the procedure for an attack like this?”

Lahar shook his head and grunted, looking defeated. “There is none. All we can do is slow them down long enough for the people to escape... We must hold strong, for our comrades, family, and for ourselves.” He turned to Jarred. “It’s time for us to fight back.” He gave Jarred the most sincere look anyone would have given him in his life. It was just them. The garrison and the new recruits, younger recruits and some which were older, that had to defend the attack.

Angelo walked through the city knowing he needed time to think, tomorrow Angelo would choose his assignment to go to the scout regiment or the garrison regiment. Angelo didn't want to stay in this place for long knowing their is a chance to fulfill his dream and make a utopia somewhere else outside the walls. Angelo towered over most people and only a few adults actually met his height as he walked in his uniform through the streets holding some bread in his hand as he got to his favorite spot in the walls. The fountain Angelo made himself with his dad, the fountain had a winged design since Angelo wanted to dedicate it to the scout regiment and their symbol the wings of freedom as they called it. Angelo sat down on the fountain and started to eat his bread relaxing and thinking still believing in joining the scout regiment no matter what to fulfill his dream but its more likely that he will die out their but Angelo wouldn't quit since he wanted to give the people hope to go outside the walls someday.

Angelo was simply relaxing on the fountain until he heard a loud bang at the wall and Angelo fell to the ground just from the shock alone as he looked up and saw a giant titan at the walls it kicked through the wall like it was nothing Angelo took a big shaky breath looking at it and seeing titans flooding the streets, Angelo quickly ran to get to a guard station and Angelo took the 3d gear he found. He shoot the wire to the roof and moved to the rooftops as he saw the titans coming out Angelo soon saw Commander Lahar Leon slice a titan saving another recruit stationed at the wall. Angelo needed to move so Angelo didn't wait all he did was take another deep breath then he started his attack run, Angelo shot the wire to a rooftop moving quickly seeing a 4 meter titan chase a group of people Angelo swung around and sliced its neck killing it before yelling to the people "move it get out of here!" Angelo yelled looking for any other recruits or garrison regiment solders that would help him get these people to safety....

Ryan walked through the city, finding those who didn't look very rich to give some of his freshly-made food. He was soon to choose his branch of the military, and would, of course go into the same branch his brother had, the survey corps. He smiled as he gave some free rations out. Though it was small, it would be enough to feed them for that night, and those that mentioned families would of course get one for every member. He trusted them to tell the truth, so that more people would get to eat that day. As he walked, continuing to hand off the food he had prepared, he heard a sound. A loud one, too loud to have been cannon fire. His eyes widened as he began to hear screaming in the distance.

Ryan hesitated a moment, droping the rest of the rations he was going to hand out. He wasn't sure what had happened, every instinct told him to get away, to get every citizen away and leave along with anyone that came with him. But... It could have been a cannon, what else could have made such a loud sound. He used his 3d maneuver gear to pull himself to the top of a nearby building. He stood there, his eyes as wide as they could go as he saw the wall... the impenetrable wall that made them feel so safe... had a hole in it. His mouth opened slightly, wanting to shout, say something, but the wall's destruction had left him speechless. He stood there only a few seconds before he saw the titans pouring in through the wall. He felt like he couldn't get the air he needed to breathe. He began to breathe as heavily as he could before realizing... There were people just behind him, on the streets. They hadn't began running yet, as he had been far enough away that they couldn't see without going to the street that went directly from gate to gate. He glanced over to that very street to see people beginning to turn and run, screaming in horror.

Ryan turned to the ones on the street, and began shouting "Everyone run! To the inner gate, go! Titans made it through the wall, RUN!" He jumped down from the building, shooting a hook into a nearby wall, but not using very much gas. He did this so he could land safely on the ground, but not go flying in a direction. "EVERYONE GO!" He ran to the street that went from gate to gate, looking at the hole to see all the titans going through. He watched from a distance as one ate someone. Someone's life had disappeared just like that. He stepped back, holding up his hands slightly as if he could protect himself from these creatures with them. He began to turn slightly before suddenly the screaming reached him. Those screams were other human beings dying.

Ryan looked back to the hole in the wall, unsheathing his blades and setting off in their direction using his 3d Maneuver Gear to quickly reach them. He could hear the screams of everyone around, he couldn't let them all die. He looked around, seeing Commander Leon killing titans. Just do that! Come on! He used his gear to fly up slightly, hooking onto a titan's neck. He saw it put up its arm in an attempt to knock him away, but he hooked the ground with his second hook for a second, letting that redirect him to avoid it. Of course, the arm and the other hook led to him going completely off course. He let go of the hook on that particular titan hooking onto a building to get control of his movement once again. He used that building to turn around and fly back at that same titan. It began to turn towards him, but this time, it was too slow. He hooked the neck and flew around to the back, using gas to fly directly at the neck. Just do what commander Leon did! He swung his swords, cutting the section of the neck that he had been trained to.

As the titan fell, Ryan kicked off with his feet, hooking onto nearby building past it so he could fly over its dead body and regroup. My first kill... It almost had me though... As he flew over it, he inhaled deeply, slowing his heartbeat as much as he could by relaxing. I can't give up now though... I may not be very good at killing them, but whatever it takes to make sure that as many people survive as I can ensure... He used his gear to land on top of a building, and turned around, seeing more titans coming through the walls. He heard yet another scream and began running towards the titans, jumping off the rooftop and hooking onto the buildings to get going once again.

James had been further from the gate, watching the titans trying to get inside, to reach the top. It had been like that all day for him, but he didn't mind. The day had been slow and he was ready to start his time in the scout corps. He had scored among the highest in his class, but despite that, was joining the Scouts. The military police was easy to live in, but it was also the government's way of making sure that their hides were safe before anyone else. They funneled the most talented Titan killers away from the real protectors of the people, the Scouts and Garrison, and live save, comfortable lives. Most had never even seen a real titan in the whole of their careers.

Shaking his head, James laid down and closed his eyes, intending to take a short nap until he had to walk the length of the wall again. As he started drifting, dreams beginning to slip into his mind when he suddenly sat up. Something didn't feel right, something about the air. As he stood up to take a look around, a loud boom echoed through the inside of the wall. He turned towards it and stared. He could just barely see the head of a titan looking over the wall and dust coming from the bottom of it.

He froze where he stood, staring at the plume of dust rising from where...The gate. I-it destroyed the gate. The walls that had kept them safe for so long had finally fallen, and it was something that James just couldn't wrap his head around. At least, not until the screams started. "Ah hell, the people!" Getting a running start, he jumped off the wall to the inside, flipping just for the hell of it, to try and calm his nerves, and using the 3D maneuvering gear to get a good pace going. As he moved through the air, he yelled at people below him. "Get to the inner gate! The wall has been breached! Run!" The people below only stared at him before obeying, running like a bunch of lemmings to get to safety. The garrison troops manning the inner gate had already prepped the cannons and were getting people inside as fast as they possibly could.

James didn't slow down, he just kept moving towards the gate until he spotted Ryan, who was moving to another titan after killing one. "Ryan, wait!"

Jarred nodded. He was ready to die for the kingdom. "Yes sir." He looked up, Vernon now missing from the top of the wall. He darted his eyes around and saw him, zipping through the streets on his gear, ushering people to inner wall. He clenched his fists. "I can do this." He grabbed hold of his pistons and took off, from building to building, looking for other graduating squad members. He saw Angelo. He zipped over to him using a minimal amount of gas. He landed next to him. "Angelo, we have to regroup with the rest of the graduating squad and fight back! Commander Leon's orders." He looked with a certain grimness. Most of them would probably die today. He didn't want it to be him, but sometimes fate take a hold of you, and there is nothing you can do. He snapped out of it. "Lets go!" He jumped from the roof and zipped to the next one, signalling Angelo to follow him.

Vernon was now using his gas to dart through the streets. "GET TO THE INNER WALL - THEY ARE COMING!" He turned his head to see two titan in the street behind them. He gulped. They would catch the civilians. He was terrified of the titans, as was everyone else. But he had to do his duty. He grappled onto the next roof and swung himself around, drawing his blades. He took a few short breaths before launching himself with gas. "YARGH!!!!" He screamed, pointing his blades forward. The titans were both 4 metre class, but taking both would still be difficult. On the way through the middle of them, he swung one blade to the left, taking one down. The other still stood. He hadn't cut deep enough. Even worse, it had walked into one of his lines, so he fell from the sky and landed in a heap right in front of the titan. "NO!!!!" He was picked up. Kiccking and yelling he did everything he could to get free, but it wouldn't let go. He shut his eyes. "Please. I dont want to die just yet."

SLICE

He felt a grasp on his uniform and was ripped from the titan's grasp, and thrown to a roof, and the titan fell. It was Lahar. He whimpered a little.

"GET UP!" Lahar yelled, before leaning in. "Those who do their duty, for the good of mankind, regardless of fear, will survive this. I promise." He helped Vernon up before turning to face the main gate. "Regroup with the other recruits and do what needs to be done. I'm going to take down that." He was referring to the colossal titan which had taken down the gate. Lahar shot off, before Vernon could say anything.

He saw Jarred zip past, and he scrambled to his feet, before following closely behind, shouting over the whistling wind. "I'm with you Jarred!" IT would now be be Himself, Jarred, and Angelo if he had followed Jarred. A small squad, but enough to defend some civilians.

Angelo looked around seeing the destruction seeing the anger in him knowing everything that was built with him and his father with their own two hands was simply going to be dust and rubble now thanks to those monsters! Angelo snapped back into reality when jarred showed up telling him they needed to regroup and Angelo nodded at the idea "then no more waiting lets go!" Angelo said as he started to zip through the streets with him to find the team to regroup with. Angelo saw that jarred was going after two 4 meters and Angelo found a 15 meter one going after a group of fleeing civilians and Angelo needed to do his part as he used his gear and swung around shooting one of the wires to the back of the titans head and slicing it in deep enough to kill it but that was merely luck since it was turning its head back but Angelo used more gas to get to its neck before it could turn its head to kill him. once he was done he turned to see that jarred was about to be eaten so Angelo was going to try and get to him but luckily the commander saved him instead, still Angelo went and stood on the building next to them. "we need to get going" Angelo said following jarred's lead behind him....

Ryan flew towards the next titan, preparing to attack again. I can do this... I must- Suddenly he heard his voice. He used his gear to change his direction, landing on top of a nearby building. He glanced around for the origin of the voice that had called his name. He almost gave up when he heard a distant titan stepping, but suddenly spotted the one who had shouted for him. "James? What are we waiting for, we need to save these people!" He shouted in his direction, looking towards some of the titans in time to see someone being saved by Leon once again. He turned his eyes back to James, "We can't wait forever, we need to make sure people get into the inner wall alive."

James shook his head. "I know we can't wait forever, but we're still pretty new. We need to find the others and regroup, find out what our orders are if we can." He notices the person who General Lahar had saved was Vernon and he sighed. This was too sudden, too...wrong. Where the hell had a titan tall enough to crest the wall and strong enough to breach the gate come from? How long had it existed and why did it just...appear? And it was still more complicated than that. It was just on the eve of them getting to choose their military branch, and that just sucked. As he went to speak, Vernon, Angelo, and Jarred all zipped away towards the gate to stem the flow. "Come on, we'll play rear guard. Just keep each other covered."

Ryan looked to the titans, frowning as James spoke. He knew they had to team up if they wanted to do much to help, but they had to hurry too. Even if he died he could at least distract a titan long enough that maybe one more person could make it through the gate, and that's all he was worried about. He was about to rush off on his own, but suddenly saw some of the other recruits passing by. He glanced to James who was saying they'd be rear guard and nodded, "Let's go, then." He jumped off the building, hooking onto a nearby building and starting to follow the group.

Jarred turned his head to see ryan and james tailing them. They had pretty much a full squad now. The civilians on this street could make it to the gate now, there were no titans nearby. He made the call. He raised one hand as he attached to a building and spun round. Assuming they would follow suit, and Vernon did, he spoke. "We have to go back! Those people can make it! What about those still in the center streets?" He speed forward using gas. "We'll mop up any titans we see and circle round, before getting up the wall. We cant leave any living civilian behind ok?" He grit his teeth, dodging the swooping hand of a titan, before whipping a blade into its neck, killing it. Vernon follwed closely behind doing the same thing to make sure it was dead.

Lahar stood on top of the wall now. "Come on you old fool, you've still got it in you." He cracked his back and neck, before shooting off, right into the path of the colossal titan. He ran up its hand and arm before digging his blades into its face and jumping on to its shoulder, scraping his blades as he went. "WHY!? WHY CANT YOU LEAVE US BE!? DIE!" He went for the neck, before being batted away with a large hand. He crashed landed back onto the wall. battered and bruised. "Fuck..." He coughed before forcing himself to his feet. "You wont go down easy will you." He couldn't defeat it right now, he turned and fled behind the wall to try and kill some of the smaller titans.

Angelo agreed as he spun around in the air and used his wire to follow jarred back to the central square to find any civilians that may have been left behind as Angelo jumped on the rooftops hoping to preserve his gas for when he would really need it but making sure he followed and not staying to far away from the group, some of these people actually bullied Angelo but he would save their hides and prove that he just had restraint and was not a coward to them. As Angelo followed he saw a 12 meter getting ready to intercept their path so Angelo broke away and jumped over the buildings before going low and shooting his wire to the titans leg and cutting his Achilles heel's on both legs as it fell like a stone and Angelo didn't stop as he used his wires to get back to the group and staying next to them....

Jarred flew across building tops. with Vernon next to him; Ryan and James close behind. This was absolutely terrifying. He gulped. At least he had his squad mates next to him. Angelo brought a titan down, but didn't kill it. It was enough for now though. They continued their sweep and made it quite far into the city, not spotting much but rubble and dismembered bodies of their comrades and civilians.

Suddenly, they heard squealing screams from the street next to the one they had landed to rest in. They were screams of pain. They were in a street fairly close to the wall where the hole had been made right now, so there should be no civilians nearby. Nevertheless, they speed off, and emerged on a rooftop looking into the street in question. Plain enough, their they were. The children from earlier. Jarred was shocked. How had they not made it away? He cursed the local garrison under his breath. He leaped down off the roof and zipped over to them in a hurry. "Kids! Hurry this way! Now!" He ushered them behind the squad. He turned his head to see what they were frozen in fear of. He was also frozen in terror, and in horror. He couldn't get a hold of himself, and nor would the others. He thought when they arrived they were one child short. There he was. In two pieces. One piece in each hand of a titan. "...Just... a child.... HAVE YOU NO MERCY?!" He was crying, but they were tears of anger. He draw both blades. "We'll cut you up into more pieces than that you bastard!" The titan dropped the remains of the child and focused on them. Jarred was about to charge all by himself, when the action behind that titan caught his eye.

They could see the hole in the wall very clearly from their position, that's how close they were. 5, 12 meter class, and 2, 10 meter class titans had entered, and were heading their way at an alarming rate. That made 8 titans, and 4 of them. They had to do their duty, but it was impossible to defeat them all surely? He thought for just a moment, before realizing the dreadful choice they had to make. They could all stay, and try to fight all 8 titans, but if they died, the children would be ripped to shreds. They could leave the children behind all together as losses and all get away. Or... they could take all the children and escape via the manoeuvre gear. There was one problem with that though. The kids would weigh them down, so they would have to use more of their gas to make it back to the inner wall in one piece. gas which the 3 carriers of the children didn't have. Jarred looked down. If they wanted to guarantee the children's safety, one of the squad would have to stay behind, giving all of their gas to the rest, so they could complete the journey back. The person left behind would have to fight all 8 titans alone, with only their gear, and no gas. He dotted his eyes around at the group. They were all well trained, and they would have all just thought of the exact same three ideas as him. The question was, which plan would they go with. He waited for their quick response whilst the titans were closing in.

Anna came to the area where people she didn't know were battling titans. She could clearly see they were overwhelmed. She sighed and mumbled "Well it can't be helped. She didn't see anyone else coming to help them in the foreseeable future. She had gotten separated from her team, and had been trying to find them. She was running on the roof tops just to be safe. She saw that Jarred was protecting children, and decided she had no choice but to get involved. Anna appeared before Jarred unsmiling "Need help. I got separated, and saw that you are trying to protect children." Her blades were out and she was prepared to fight if she had to. She saw the titans closing in and one arm shook slightly in fear. "Just tell me what to do, and fast." Even though she was scared her eyes were dissecting the titans. Watching the way they moved.

She wasn't as terrified as some others though she was there the day the wall fell, and was evacuated. She saw first hand the destructive nature of the titans. Either way she knew all their lives were at stake. That they were no better than prey to them, and the worst part is they didn't even need the flesh of humans to sustain them. She was both disgusted and intrigued by these monsters. More often than not the best course of action was not to fight if you didn't have to. In this world heroes were not rewarded. Heroes died, and they died unsung.

Angelo moved with jarred towards the children, just as much as he felt for them Angelo wanted to protect the children and his anger went critical when he saw the remains of a child on the ground. the problem was getting even worse knowing that their were 8 titans on their way to take them all with them, Angelo would rather die knowing the children would live. They had a future ahead of them but Angelo would never sleep at night knowing that they died because he wanted to save his own skin. Angelo tried to think of some way to save them and the only way he could come up with was to sacrifice himself to the titans and try to slow them down Angelo gave a shaky breath and he unloaded his gas canisters and gave them to jarred "get those kids to safety ill try to hold them off. take my gas before I change my mind" Angelo said giving them to him and he was a few feet towards the titans and Angelo said " Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." Angelo said holding up his blades and he took a deep breath "if I die make sure that you all live!"

Ryan followed, seeing the children, along with the dead one. He was about to give up his gas when suddenly a new person arrived. She seemed like she was afraid, so he wouldn't let her fight these things until she'd at least prepared herself. He was about to hand over his gas once again when suddenly Angelo handed his over. "No... There's five of us now, right? Three can carry children, and two can give up one gas canister each, moving in short bursts. Unless there's an abnormal we can outrun those titans even with just one hook at a time." He removed one of his gas canisters, handing it to Angelo. "Even if we can't outrun them, we can work together to hopefully fend them off long enough for the others to escape." He turned to the others, steadying himself as he did, lest he start running right then and there. "No questions, there's no time to go against it, using this method, the two of us will be slower, yes, but we'll be using about half as much gas if we do it correctly. There's going to be Garrison members back at the wall that we can get a ride from when we get there. We'll follow one road unless there's an issue, so when you all get back there, tell someone we're out here so they can resupply us with gas and we can get back to work." He looked throughout the other recruits there, "If I don't make it, then someone please find out what could have happened to my brother."

Anna had arrived. Jarred knew her from training. She had kicked his butt at the self defense training a few times. He grinned. They could all make it. The plan was perfect now that they had 5 members. He turned and grasped a child on the shoulders kneeling down. "You have to trust me now ok? Please. We're going to save you and your friends." The child nodded and Jarred hoisted him over his shoulder. "Ok, lets go." Himself, Anna, and James would be the carriers, seeing as they all had 2 canisters. He looked down in slightly discrete, where yet another extra gas canister had been placed, from Vernon.

"All the gas you need will get them to safety quicker." Vernon smiled. He hated kids, but he felt it was his true duty this time. He now only had one. 3 of the squad would now have 1 can, and the carriers would all have 3 cans. He nodded as Jarred went to leave, readying his one hook. The carriers would take off first, followed by the 3 supporters. Vernon would make sure he would be the last to take off. He took a final look at the titans behind them, before zipping forward, to a nearby pole, before getting higher. Vernon was happy, they were heros, they'd just saved those kids. He looked left, before looking right, doing a double take. He was caught off guard, as an abnormal flew through the air, and clamped its jaws down on his arm, just above the elbow down. He dropped from the sky, landing on a roof, going straight through it, into the building.

Jarred heard the scream and checked behind, he caught a glimpse of Vernon falling into the building. He turn his head back forward, before addressing the others alongside him. "We cant go back, we have these kids to save." He sounded solemn. Vernon was his friend, but he was either dead, or would bleed out. At least the titans wouldn't get to him in the building. Jarred burst forward with more gas and accelerated, desperate to get to safety.

Angelo sighed in relief knowing he wouldn't have to commit suicide by going and letting the others take his canisters and he took his back and gave only one to the carrier that would carry a kid. Angelo would be a support and keep them guard and as they started to move out with the children Angelo saw as Vernon got caught by an abnormal and Angelo hated it but the kids came first and he couldn't save him either way he tried, not against an abnormal anyways. Angelo would remember him as a brave soul as they speed through and Angelo nodded as he heard the plan to get to the garrison regiment "if we don't move then that abnormal is going to come around for seconds we need to either get rid of it or move faster" Angelo said simply to assess the situation and hoping that the abnormal wasn't hungry for a whole squad....

Anna growled under her breath she hated losing a comrade. All her instincts told her to go back to fight the thing. That's all she knew how to do was fight. She was distracted for a moment and felt the kid on her back slip. She gripped the kid around the legs tighter. It kept crying in her ear. "Yes kid because your wailing in my ear is accomplishing a hell of a lot." She scowled the vein in her forehead popping out. She knew then she would probably make a shitty parent. She heard the teeth clamp together, and thought she saw blood out of the corner of her eyes.

"Found your confidence I see Jarred?" She asked with a sarcastic little chuckle. Being sarcastic was her go to method to deal. She didn't know of any other way. She'd never let anyone know, but the death of a comrade was killing her inside. 'God if you're out there somewhere please let us just not die today.' She heard loud vibrating footsteps. "We need to go faster or we're gonna die out here! We've got another one on the way. It probably smelled that guys blood."

James followed Jerred and Anna closely as they went, but almost wanted to hand off the kid and go back for Vernon when he heard the sound of someone crashing through a building. Looking back and realizing who it was, he bit back a curse and sped up. He knew he couldn't go back, that these kids were mankind's future. But there were so many who were probably already dead, who wouldn't make it to the inner gate despite the best efforts of him and his comrades. He could still see the remains of the other child in his mind, and that image was why he ignored all his instincts, the pulling of every fiber of his being to go back and save Vernon. But because he was inside a building, something inside him told him that Vernon would be OK.

"No time for being a smart ass, let's just move!" He shot forward quickly, soon spotting where the skirmish line had been drawn to try and hold back the flow of titans until all the survivors were found. "I can see safety!"

Ryan smiled as the plan seemed to come together. He had apparently miscounted and had missed someone when counting how many people there were, but having an extra only made it easier. He watched the ones with the children fly away before setting off after them, staying behind some to ensure there was a closer option for the titans than the ones with children. He of course moved at a slower pace than he usually did, so he was one of the closest to Vernon when it happened. He saw something in the corner of his eye, moving. He quickly turned his head in that direction only to see a titan fly directly at Vernon, taking a bite out of his arm. His eyes widened in horror as his ally dropped directly into a building.

Ryan was just about to start heading back when he realized that all the others had decided against it. I can't take an abnormal on my own... I was lucky enough to kill one average titan... Vernon... Find something to stop the bleeding and stay alive in there... Even if I have to come alone, I'll make sure a rescue party comes out here. He looked forward once again, hooking another building with his one hook. "We need to get them to the wall, that line could be pushed back at any second. The wall itself is the only chance." He looked to the children as he moved. Though they were a slight distance away, he could make out their shapes held up by his allies. They had families... Are they alive? Will those kids even live for a couple months after today, or will they die... No one to look after them? I'll make sure to keep tabs on each one, and bring them food I make myself every day... Even if their families are fine, they'll be worse off than they were... He glanced back for a moment, Well... If I don't die trying to find Vernon...
