...Hanged, I'd advise just time skipping to the ceremony. Since my char is somewhat stuck at the moment.

Okay, it isn't perfect (or particularly long), but there's a small hint at the kinds of things Ren gets mixed up in.

These particular gentlemen are petty criminals from Galimidine who hired her to talk to their dead leader... It turned out that the leader had only faked his death, and ran off with everyone's shares of their last big heist. The corpse the men had found was in fact an innocent bystander who the wayward leader burned to death, in order to disguise the corpse as himself (and this bystander was the spirit she spoke to). Well, when she dutifully relayed this information to the criminals, they got righteously pissed off, and sicced their attack dogs on her and the griffin she was with (hence their being idiots). Corin bit one of the dogs in half, just making them more mad, and the girl and the griffin got away pretty much scot-free.

Now they've figured out that she lives at the Academy, and are storming down to "get her", as she's the best connection they can find to their much more clever old boss.

Option A: Aoife beats them up for Ren, using her super-badass magical martial arts skills, and takes them in alive so that they are brought to justice in the city.
Option B: Corin eats them.

Option B is much messier, and more difficult to explain to the Galimidine guards...

I'm okay with that, my business at the Hall of Healers has concluded. The only thing Aoife has left to do is help Adam over to the Ceremony, meaning a time skip could only be convenient :P.

It is, then, up to Shifter_Master and Hanged if they're done with Adam and Miataea's meeting.

I laughed for a straight minute. I don't even know why. Anyway, mazeltov for your opening entry into ze RP! Given that Aoife's been informed of the situation, I don't see why she'd refuse. She's used to having a strained schedule, and pretty much tied to Ren (for better or for worse) anyway.

Thank you, thank you. It had to come sooner or later. My thought was that this would not have been the first time she's approached Aoife with similar problems, and I threw in the line about "a favor for a favor" so that Ren would be forced to go with her to investigate the lich. :P She hates liches.

By the way, just to help everyone get a better picture of her, Ren's skin tone is quite dark. Her father is light-skinned, as I assume most Lismosians are (it being at least somewhat European-influenced), but her mother is black, and she takes after her mother more than her father.

I keep using Irish/Gaelic/Scottish names for my characters. Someone else dropped hints at French influences. So yeah, I'd say mostly Western European for the inhabitants of Lismos. Multi-culturalism doesn't seem to be a problem in the kingdom, though.

Also, haha~ Thanks for that tie-in! I'll get snapping on a post in a few hours, or tomorrow. Depends on how some stuff tonight works.

Fantastic! Just so you know, their names are Robert ("Bob the Slob"), Reginald ("Papa Reg"), Gregory ("Peg-leg Greg"), Thomas ("Tommy Two-Face"), Scott ("Scottie Quicksword"), and Bonesaw ("Bonesaw"). Jackson ("Bastard Jack") was their leader, and it turned out that he really was a bastard. Who knew?

Robert fights with a big axe, Reginald controls the dogs, Gregory shoots a little bow, Thomas tries to stab people in the back with daggers, Scott is "quick" with a "sword", per the name, and Bonesaw, oddly enough, just rips people apart with his bare hands. No bonesaws to be found. Still, I'm sure Aoife can handle them. With the exception of Scott and Bonesaw, none of them are trained fighters in any sense, and they didn't bring the dogs with them this time...

(And yes, you have to call them by their nicknames. It's in the rules.)

Hmm... I can reason that the guards are probably mostly at the opening ceremony, and that the group made it past the ones stationed externally by complete fluke. Time to kick some ass and get back in time for the opening ceremony, I guess? Well, I should see what Shifter_Master wants to do with Adam, first.

Almost done, Jedly, almost done. We'll skip the ceremony proper, but first I'll get Aoife on board, since Adam decided to incapacitate himself xD

Misa, I think there would still be some guards. They wouldn't let half a dozen heavily armed and angry-looking men go gallivanting into the Academy, so in my mind the gate is locked, and Ren is leading Aoife there, so that she can lay the hurt on them just outside.

Well, sure. I meant that they managed to dodge what guards there were by fluke!

Though maybe the guards will only attack if they pass the gate's threshold... I'm just trying to think of a reason that Aoife wouldn't just rationally say, "Couldn't the guard corps handle a bunch of thugs?" Both because I want to write up an actual fight scene (since I skipped the one with the giant dog), and because rationality keeps overriding my want to just have Aoife go all Batman (or woman) on them. Just needs justifiable cause, and all that jazz.

As I have mentioned a few times, she has some—emphasis on some—of the same restrictions as normal students on using offensive magic. She isn't in the guard corps like Liza, though she does have her current rights because of her honest use of her powers. That being said, there are many Magestravi who don't think all too highly of non-Magestravi, so perhaps they are being underestimated, and no one would blink an eye if they got beat up and turned in to the proper authorities.

:P They could handle the thugs, perhaps (depending on how powerful/skilled they were), but that doesn't send the right message! Ren wants them alive, and also wants them to specifically get beat up by Aoife. Once they're back in the town, word will get around that Ren von Ouless has powerful friends, and is not to be crossed, which is exactly the kind of publicity she needs! So, if Aoife protested that the guards should handle it, Ren would just wave her off and say "it has to be you, babe."

She's sure Aoife can beat them, and not only will she have the guards for backup, in case the thugs try to brute-force their way inside, but Corin as well! She'll be fine.

EDIT: Besides, these guys are obviously criminals. I think the Academy would forgive her for using strong offensive magic in defense of a student, don't you?

EDIT 2: And yeah, I was thinking that as long as they remained outside the gates, the guards actually don't have jurisdiction. It's only if the thugs actively attempt to break down the gates and get inside that the guards would have reason to fight them off. And, the thugs aren't going to do that if they have something to focus their anger on...

Hmhm. So, we still have to wait for Shifter_Master's output. Besides that, though, everything is pretty much settled~Woo! A fight!

Edit: That moment when I searched up Medieval Football/Soccer just so I can have a setting appropriate comparison for the size of Corin's feces, which I hazard is much like that of an Owl: slimy, obloid and full of fur and bones.

...The things I do and think of in my spare time.

Anyway, I actually don't have any doubts that Aoife would be able to beat the bunch with relative ease. More on that in the post proper, though. Much more fun to put everything into literary verse than to discuss it in the meta.

Edit 2!: Right, so... About that time skip. It should be fine to skip ahead while Ren and Aoife get this current business out of the way. It can just be taken as a part In Media Res. I would prefer not to hold the entire RP up for another two to three rounds of posting just for two roleplayers.

I agree, other people should probably move forward. The business with the thugs shouldn't take long, in-universe, and RP time is flexible anyway.

As for Corin's feces... Well, okay, let's think about this. In my mind, his lower digestive system would fall mainly under the lion half rather than the eagle half. His diet is half-and-half: fish, birds and smallish creatures from the lake and the forest (eagle/hawk-like), supplemented by large slabs of beef and/or pork provided by Ren's butcher in Gralimidine (lion-like).

Overall, I'd say the consistency is probably most similar to that of a large predator like a lion, perhaps with a good few more bones and other small bits than usual from his hunting forays. That's just me, though. -shrug- I'm no magizoologist.
