A dark cat paced back and forth before him. An omen on a day of omens. Now, Levi wasn't really much of a spiritual or superstitious sort, but what else could you call waking up in some dank basement-esque structure with no windows along with a few other folks who seemed not to have their shit together? It surely wasn't some regular occurrence, that was for sure. The people were speaking, questioning their reasons for being here. It wasn't his place to speak, so he just listened. A few foreign loan words, a rather odd claim about defending the town like some Saturday morning cartoon, and an exchange of names. Nathan, Erebus, Taimu, Katherin, and then the other guys who didn't say a thing. Each had some kind of beast before them. How interesting.

Suddenly, a scream. Slightly muffled, but still audible in the room given its general echo-yness. The blue hoodied young man turned his head to look towards the blonde kind that looked like she was kind of just trying to make herself seem smaller. He'd barely heard it, but the question was there. "Underground by the sound of it," Levi drawled nonchalantly, "'Maho Underground' the girl over there - the one that seems know what's up - said." He shrugged. "No idea what that means though, but I heard something about defending the city."

Nathan stare at Erebus for a little then realize that he was talking to him "o, um...my, my name is Nathan." he looking down at the ground still holding his arm.

Taimu was looking at her fox. It had a ribbon around it's neck. Taimu got a strange feeling and pulled the ribbon off and tied her hair with it before saying,
"Time, Past, Present, Future," Time stopped during Taimu's transformation, so when time resumed Taimu was already transformed.

Nathan back up from Taimu who just change in front of him with no explanation. He hid behind Erebus because it was the only place to hide.

and the cialings gravity returned. Erebus floated back towards the cialing as one of the girls changed appearance. hopefully he will return back to the normal floor.

Kat looked up at Taimu.
"SO your time, huh,"she said before staring up and transforming herself.
Once she was done there was a patch of nature around her and she was transformed.

Nathan looked around for another place to hide, but there was none. he took a few more steps back and ask "w-what are you?" He didn't know if this was normal or not all he knew was he didn't like it.

"Not us, we, we are Maho no Ko, magical children. The animals you have with you are your spirit animals. Their color indicates your power. Black for Darkness, Red for Fire, Green for Nature, Silver for Light, Dark-Gray for Space. Oh, we have both time and space here. You two should team up. So basically we have to fight Kemono which are the manifestations of evil. Yup, that about sums it up," Kat said. Taimu just looked around hesitantly till she whispered "Past, Future," and two double bladed scythes appeared in her hands.

"um...that sounds dangerous....why would we want to fight though kamona things or whatever." he asked backing even further away from them now that she pulled out blades from thin air.

"I think it's better not to question it. This sounds really fun, actually." Vindle said. He played around with his sword as the seagull watched him.
"Oh, right, I should probably give you a name." he said to the bird.

Erebus floated back down. He was actually able to control this disent a bit, deciding when to return to normal gravity. He dared to think he was getting a hang of this when the balancing uper gravity gave out, causing him to land face first on the ground. Worst still was that gravity seemed to increase. The others seamed though to have been introducing them selves before the crash, so he weakly muttered "I'm erebus"

He looked all around at everyone. They all seemed to have special powers and knew how to use them. "I want powers too" he mumbled getting jealous now that everyone but him has powers, so it seems to him. The panther keep rubbing its fur on his legs and for whatever reason he wasn't afraid of it.

Superpowers. Not as crazy as it seemed. 'Specially since there was a kid floating in the air, and a Power Rangers-esque transformation sequence. Yup, definitely saturday morning cartoon territory. Hopefully this wasn't a dream. Real life was hardly... Real life was... It was...

Why couldn't he remember anything?!

Levi took in a few deep breaths. Wouldn't do to spazz out now, and he was generally a reserved kind of guy. At least he thought he was. He probably was. It just felt instinctual, so that might've been a decent sign of what things were like before. Yeah. Anywho, best to listen to the one who had all her shit together.

Huh, interesting. So this cat pacing before him like... Well, any cat actually, was dark gray in color. Which meant he had space. Cool. Sure it wasn't 'calling down meteors' space, but the kind of space that physicists talk about could be fun to screw around with. He had to say he was pleased with this turn of events.

"Hmm?"

Levi looked up to Aya from his seat on the ground. A lady with an elaborate dress and a boy with a ratty blue jacket. On a regular day, it'd be a rather odd sight, but it was hardly a regular day, was it?

"Levi, ah, Fletcher. Nice to meet'cha," he nodded.

You probably have powers too, I mean you have a panther with you," She then looked at the group in general. "I'm Taimu Kitsu"

She never returned.

No matter how much she assured him that she would be fine, no matter how powerful she claimed her powers and her spirit animal were, she did not return. All that they ever found was a dead body, killed by the monsters nobody knew existed. Nobody but him knew the truth, and as such, he was the only one who knew that there were monsters that existed which could strike any time, any where, suddenly, viciously, monstrously, without warning.

There it was again. He was remembering that night.

Araragi Kai sat in a cafe, watching the cars go by past him as he had a book in his lap. Sipping a cup of coffee, he stared outside the windows as the noise of traffic and vehicles permeated the peace and tranquility of the cafe. Fear and paranoia gripped him yet again as the images of his late sister flashed through his mind as well as the images of the monsters she had died fighting against. His hand began to tremble, sweat began to trickle down his neck and his heart began racing as he was reminded yet again that at any moment something could attack and he could die in a flash.

Opening the Araragi Anthology of Haiku with his hands and taking out a pen, he began composing.

On a windy day
A man lives to his fullest
Hanging by a thread

Unbeknownst to him, his fear and paranoia was seeping through his words. Gathering strength with every letter, the energy broke free of the book and began forming into a Kemono of fear and paranoia, unseen by its creator. The Kemono then went off, leaving Kai completely unaware of what he had done.

Setting down his book, he took another sip of coffee.

Kat noticed a sense of fear outside. A kemono was outside. They would need to combat it. Kat decided her best bet would be to go with the new kids so that they could not only beat the kemono but the newbies would learn how to use their newfound abilities.
"Kemono, were going outside follow me. We'll be fighting it, just make sure not to try and take it on by yourself. That's what gets Maho no Ko killed..." Kat then started towards an elevator hidden in the corner.

Taimu undid her transformation and put her fox on her shoulder and followed after Kat. Partially prepared for whatever was ahead of her.
