Great Hall

Esme found it odd when some girl magically fixed James' clothes for him. She only glanced at the girl for a moment before her attention returned to James. Then hearing the slightly aggressive comment from the girl that had fixed his clothes. Scowling at the the girl she looked at her closer knowing she recognised her but who was she? Getting back to James she heard heard him say that he did this this to himself. She felt kind of sorry for him but that didn't stop her body shaking from all the laughter she tried to hold back not wanting to be rude by laughing in his face but some escaped from her lips. She stopped as soon as he winked at her, she blushed embarrassed that a guy that smelt like a walking sofa was hitting on her though she was a bit flattered.

Suddenly clicked it clicked the girl was a beater for the Gryffindor Quiddict team. Raking through her memory she remembered a match where the girl had been knocked from her broom and suddenly it hit her the girls name was Adelie. Esme decided to respond in kind to the girls earlier remark "don't worry about me I've gotten better since last year and by the way make sure to keep your eye on the Bludger after all it's your job and you don't want to get knocked off your broom... again". "Also think I might have something to help your friend" she stated reaching into her robes she pulled something out "these are my own special brand of stink pellets they should cancel out the smell of roses if you want to give them a try" she said with a big grin on. Though they hadn't been tested fully she was sure the pellets would cancel out the smell.

Beth took hold of her broom with one hand, and used the other to throw the Quaffle towards Tessa, knowing she'd be able to catch it with no problem. This practice would be extremely helpful for Beth. She had speed down, but she hadn't been able to practice passing the Quaffle around as she didn't really have anyone to practice with at home. She supposed that was a downside of being a muggle-born. Although she could have visited Jasper during break and trained with him, but she'd actually wanted to spend time with her parents. She'd helped her father with his new album, and that had been plenty fun.

"Oh," Beth gasped, snapping out her musings. She shot a cheeky smile towards Tessa, thankful that she hadn't missed catching the Quaffle despite having her head in the clouds. She could think about her parents later. Now, she needed to focus on the feeling of the wind against her skin and the rush of racing with her teammate.

They passed the Quaffle back and forth between them while maintaining the playful race. Jasper cut through them, laughing loudly all the while, but Beth wasn't one to be deterred. She'd maneuvered past him, punching his shoulder as she did so. "That's what you get," she shouted back with a chuckle. She turned back to Tessa. "We're almost half-way through the race, T. You ready to lose?" She stuck her tongue out at the girl before flying ahead.

"Speed isn't everything!" Tessa called after Beth as her teammate raced ahead of Tessa. There was no way Tessa could keep up with Beth, but that wasn't what she had been trying for. "Beth think fast!" Tessa cried and then tossed the Quaffle to Beth one last time, giving her the shot. The toss perfectly arched toward Beth, but Jasper caught it diving from above. Tessa said quite loudly, "Rude." Her indignation was buried under her laughter though. "Maybe you should be the Chaser Jasper." She said as she gathered her wits back.

Jasper tossed the Quaffle to Beth, "Now where's the fun in that though?" The Huffelpuff team's Keeper was ready for Beth. "Beside if that had been in game it could have easily been a Slytherin Chaser come to steal the Quaffle from us."

Ryan Hallow
Quidditch pitch, Hogwarts Castle grounds.
6:00 A.M.

Ryan was sitting on the benches atop one of the Ravenclaw stands in the Quidditch pitch, he was sitting here early as he wanted to get the view of the sun rising behind the castle. He had slept for a few hours before coming out here to have the morning dew and chill breeze, it was somewhat foggy and dark before the sun slowly rose. In his hands was a book he had taken from the library,
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander.
He has read about a couple chapters before he closed the book, one hand bookmarking where he stopped, he instead wanted to rest his eyes and enjoy the view. As the sky slowly started changing hue, Ryan started to recollect his first night at Hogwarts.

He alongside other first years where excited to be distributed to the four houses, the sorting hat was quickly sorting the eager students into their houses. This year it seems most of the sorting hat's pickings were satisfactory to the respective students. Nobody complained. When it was Ryan's turn and the sorting hat was put on his head he got a bit nervous, afraid that'd he be thrown into anything but Ravenclaw. But he was fine with Gryffindor . The sorting hat didn't take long as it yelled, "RAVENCLAW!"
The night was followed by good and friendly introductions from his housemates, friends he no longer hangs out with.

It was some time before Ryan could spot anyone around the premises, he only saw the distant figure of a student flying on a broomstick, making rounds about the castle grounds then rushing into the castle. Ryan swore he recognized the student as none other than James MacFusty, he had numerous classes with him but they didn't interact much, just the usual smiles. Later after the sun rose and the pitch was filled with beautiful rays of sunlight, Ryan noticed a group of Hufflepuff students getting into the pitch. They kicked their brooms, threw the Quaffle and began their training session, seemed more like playful competition to Ryan.

He recognized Jasper, Tessa Goffe, and the one that caught his attention most, Elizabeth Grace Fontaine. She was a sixth year student just as him, he gasped and almost dropped his book between the cracks in the boarding. He recovered then leaned forward gently as he watched both girls go at each other in an intense yet playful match. The air was cool. It hadn't been long before the Quaffle was thrown again close to his stand and Elizabeth caught it, only now did she notice someone was in the pitch. A lone audience. When his gaze crossed hers as she flew brilliantly on her broomstick quite close to his booth, he gasped again then quickly adjusted to a smile.

"Good game."

Jasper tossed the Quaffle towards Beth but he wasn't as well versed in it as they were and the Quaffle flew past the two Chasers. She tossed Jasper a faux-glare before zooming after it, seeing that it was headed towards the stands. While normally that wouldn't be a problem as there wasn't an ongoing game, this time was different. There was someone sat in the booths, someone Beth recognized as she zoomed closer. She flew past the Quaffle, and made a flip with her broom to quickly change the direction of her flying, and caught the Quaffle just before it reached the stands. She gave Ryan a brilliant smile. "Thanks!"

She gave the Ravenclaw a salute before zooming back to Tessa, passing her the Quaffle with a masterful throw. She looked back towards their audience with a small smile. Ryan was an interesting character, but he seemed to hold himself distant towards others. While that may have been something other people found off-putting, for Beth it was just a challenge. And she loved challenges. She hovered in the air and waved both her hands around, all the while shooting him a smile. She then turned back to her teammates. "Sorry about that," she said to Tessa.

It was like a dim light had a brief pump in his cold heart when she thanked him for his compliment, he rarely noticed people to even compliment them. He wasn't rude, but he just opted to avoid people. When she smiled, Ryan gasped then smiled back. His book probably already fell beneath the bench or way down under the stand, for a brief moment he didn't really care about Newt Scamander, or fantastic beasts, or reading. Just the sight of Elizabeth.

It was brief though, for as soon as he wanted to utter another round of words she saluted him and soared away to her teammates. Ryan clenched backwards a bit, as he was going to bow down and grab his book, she stopped and hovered, waving both hands and smiling. He smiled back with a wider grin.
"Bloody hell.."

Ryan grabbed his book from underneath the bench, then took his broom and kicked it, he flew out of the stand and out into the field. He hadn't got enough of the girl yet, he was curious, he was different, for the first time- he was warm, He gently soared towards Elizabeth and her teammates, his book tugged in his robe. When he was close he slowly hovered then greeted the lot. He smiled at Tessa, then waited until the girls were done talking. He awkwardly waited for a window to speak to Elizabeth. When it was present, the chance, he opened his mouth and spontaneously said,

"I'm..I'm Ryan. Rayn Roderick Hallow. I hope I'm not interrupting your game-" he gasped a chuckle, "what am I saying? I already did." He chuckled, then proceeded, "I'm going to Hagrid's class that's about to start in a few minutes. I was wondering if you want to come along, you and I could- I mean we all could go together." Then he paused, he never spoke this way since his early days at Hogwarts. Still hovering.

Tessa Goffe

Tessa shrugged caught the ball and tossed it at one of the goals. She was only half trying so their keeper easily stopped the ball. He tossed it back at Tessa, who took four more shots before finally getting one passed their keeper.

She flew down to Beth and the boy she recognized from the library. His name was Ryan. And right she was because he introduced himself the .

"I'm going to Hagrid's class..."

Oh no they might be late. "We better hurry. Don't want to be late." Tessa flew to the ground where Jasper and the Kepper were already heading to the locker room. There was a thought in Tessa's mind, she had a feeling that Ryan didn't smile often, and he had been smiling at Beth. A pang of nervousness based on the part of Tessa that didn't trust easily spread through Tessa. She decided though as she pulled her bag out of her locker that it was up to Beth.

Beth flew down to the ground and greeted Ryan with a huge grin. "That's a great idea. I'm sure Tessa won't mind. We just have to put back our brooms and we'll be right with you," she said as she headed towards the locker room, following her teammates. She quickly placed her things back inside her locker, and a with a flourish of her wand, she fixed her attire. Much more appropriate for class. She nodded to Jasper and asked if he was going to come with to Hagrid's class, but he saud he had Potions so he won't be joining them. It was a pity too, as Jasper was a good person to hang out with. Their keeper wasn't going to attend as well, which only left Beth and Tessa. Oh, and Ryan too.

"You're okay with walking to Hagrid's with Ryan, right?" she asked Tessa as she pulled out her backpack from the locker and put it on. "Lots of people don't like him much, but he's an interesting person, don't you think?" She nodded as if to solidify her point. She gave Tessa an enthusiastic grin before she walked out of the locker room and met with Ryan outside. She already knew it was going to be an amazing class with two interesting people attending. And she was certain whatever creature Hagrid had to showcase would be fantastic as well. She couldn't wait.

Jordan Mason

Jordan gave them a nervous smile. Having both the headmaster and deputy headmaster speak to her was intimidating. "I'm sure Hagrid will find it to be a very pleasant surprise, sirs. I'll keep my lips sealed," she promised them, fixing her glasses' position on her nose yet again. "I'll be heading to his class now. If you'll excuse me." She gave them a polite bow before she scurried off. While she wasn't one to run away like a coward... Okay, well she was, but that wasn't what was important. She was in her final year. This was her last chance to make something of herself. While others were attempting to become the next Quidditch stars or mastering spells, Jordan had been drowning in a mountain of books. It wouldn't do, and she was afraid that the headmaster and deputy headmaster would see how much of a failure she'd been.

She breathed out a sigh of relief as soon as she was a healthy distance away from the two. Maybe her cowardly retreat hinted to them her patheticness, but she needed to regroup herself. She ran a hand down her arms where the headmaster had squeezed earlier. He was a man Jordan greatly admired. His knowledge far exceeded that of anyone she'd ever known, and he made something of himself. He became the headmaster of such a prestigious school. Jordan smiled to herself. She'd be just like him one day, maybe not a headmaster, but someone just as great. She saw some of her fellow Ravenclaws and called out to them. They were heading to Hagrid's class as well.

Tessa Goffe

"I don't mind at all." Tessa told Beth as she fixed her own uniform. The cool air had finished waking her up, and now she was alert. Tessa didn't notice that her hair was a total mess though. "Ryan is in your year right?" Tessa knew he wasn't in her year, but she wasn't sure if he was a sixth or seventh year.

She followed Beth out to meet with Ryan. "Off to see the wizard." She joked, not thinking he wouldn't get it. She knew Beth had been raised a muggle, and so knew the sometimes obscure references Tessa made. Tessa had watched the movie sometime when she was little. A friend her mother had made through her church had had a daughter Tessa's age. The two had hit it off well enough. Though Tessa seemed to remember that that sleep over was the last time she had seen that friend. She tried to remember the girl's name for a bit as they walked, but couldn't seem to find it.

Then Hagrid's hut came into view, pulling her thoughts from the past. Tessa was excited about this special class. She was curious as to what it was that Hagrid had. She had heard rumors that he had at one point or another some of the most dangerous creatures as a friend.

Adelie - Great Hall

Adelie shook her head when James said he’d used an air freshener charm on himself. What kind of numpty did that honestly? She also rolled her eyes so hard at his wink towards the Slytherin they almost rolled right out of her head. After 5th year, her dislike of Slytherins became part of her personality. There might be one or two she could stand or even get along with, but the rest she had no use for really.

By the way, make sure to keep your eye on the Bludger after all it’s your job and you don’t want to get knocked off your broom… again. Addy’s cheeks burned and eyes narrowed with hate as the girl teased her. Adelie ran her tongue across her top row of teeth before smacking her lips and looking between Jimmy and Evanora. ”Roses or not, we should really head ta 'agrid’s,” she said, her voice part growly, part higher pitched than normal, again like a mother rounding up her children and trying to direct them in the most appropriate path. She didn’t physically turn them the right way though, simply waving her wand nonchalantly. ”An' you dear really should shave,” Addy smirked before turning and walking out of the Great Hall with her head held high.

The waving of her wand had been no unintentional flourish, however, as now Esme’s hair on her head, her eyebrows and any other small facial hairs included, began growing thicker and thicker. Adelie knew she was probably in for it later with the girl, but at the moment she couldn’t care less, feet stepping outside and breathing in the crisp morning air.

Great Hall

Esme felt rather proud with herself when she saw Adelie blush from her comment and how she rolled her eyes at her friend when he winked at her. When Adelie mentioned Hagrid's class she felt a bit stupid for forgetting about it. Quickly placing the pellets back into her robes she was about to run off to the class when the girl mentioned something about needing a shave. She was puzzled why she said that until she felt the hair growing feeling around her face and all over her body she new it was bad.

First-floor Girls bathroom (Moaning Myrtle's Bathroom)

Esme had ran all the way from the great hall she was completely out of breath but at least she knew no one would disturb her while she tried to sort herself out well except for Moaning Myrtle. However she wouldn't be long and she would probably be done before Myrtle became a nuisance. Removing her wand from inside of her robes she mused around with several spells that might be able to remove the excess hair. She decided it was best to use the quickest method she could think of and that was using a fire spell to burn the hair off. Quickly casting spell she burnt the hair off her face unfortunately she also burnt her eyebrows off. Deciding to leave her hair and more private areas for later when she could take care of herself properly. Quickly making her way out she cast a spell on her hair making it lovely and purple again. She was so annoyed she hated her a hair being long it just got in the way.

While on her way to Hagrid's for his special lecture her thoughts returned to Adelie. She actually found the spell a bit amusing and she thought she was beginning to like this girl probably because she was like her. She would very much like matching whits with her and maybe even working with her on some pranks. However she had to repay her for that little stunt she pulled after all it was only fair. Now what would be a good prank to pull on her maybe making her pimply or stink bombs or slipping a love potion into her food and make her infatuated with one of the teachers. She walked with truly wicked smile that anyone knew meant bad news however the effect was ruined by her having to keep flicking the hair out of her eyes.

David - On his way to Hagrid
On his way towards the class he saw the girl Esme. She was part of the Quidditch team. A prankster in his eyes. While David himself wasn’t really good with pranks, he loved laughing. So naturally he liked Esme for pulling the pranks. He decided to approach her.“Hey! Esme!” but when he got close he could smell something weird. He also saw that her hair was a bit longer than usual. Then he noticed her grin. So wicked than he immediately knew what was going on. “Oh dear…who’s going to be the victim this time? What did he or she do?” he asked. He was a little worried because there was this weird smell of burned hair around her. That and her hair that was long. Esme never had long hair.

Beth chuckled at Tessa's antics and how she seemed to have forgotten that her hair was still messed up. "Okay, Dorothy," se called out as she took out her wand from beneath her robes. She gave it a swish and fixed up the girl's hair for her. She walked past Tessa and gave the girl a light pat on the head as they neared Hagrid's hut. "Be more careful next time, okay?" She then gave a small smile towards Ryan, as if apologizing for her friend's actions. A part of her wanted for Tessa and Ryan to become good friends too. Ryan could use more wonderful people in his life, and Beth wouldn't mind always having the both of them by her side. In fact, that scenario would be the best. She was so happy just thinking about it.

Hagrid's hut was just a few feet away and a lot of other students were there already. She waved towards Ryan and Tessa. "Let's go!"

James MacFusty

Instinctively, Jimmy's hand went to his chin -- thinking that Adelie was going to scold him for not shaving -- but almost as soon as he noticed her wand in her hand he stopped. Oh dear. The rude Slytherin with her stupid prank pellets was doomed. As the Keeper's purple hair began to grow longer... but not just the hair on her head, but her eyebrows too.

As for her comment on Adelie's Beater skills, well... Jimmy walked briskly in an attempt to catch up with his friend, given that she was already halfway out the hall by the time he turned to look. Throwing his half-eaten apple to the floor (thankful that Adelie wouldn't see, or she'd have his head), he slid around to her left. "I guess them Slytherins have to defend their terrible Quiddich team with insults, eh? Dunno how she expects to see the Quaffle comin' through that stupid bright hair of hers'."

Nice one, Jimmy, he congratulated himself. Get on her good side.

Tessa Goffe - Hagrid's Hut

Tessa, didn't notice that Beth had fixed her hair either. Of course she didn't think that zooming around on her broom would mess it up. She never thought about things like that.

She gave Beth a huge grin, "At least I'm not the tin man." She hurried along to the hut that was Hagrid's home, and joined the growing group of students. She looked forward to meeting his new and strange creature. She noticed amongst the crowd some other quidditch players. Most on opposing teams. She did see the other Chaser for their team and gave him a wave so he could join them. "Vince." She gave her team mate a grin. "You missed an impromptu practice." Tessa caught him up quickly on what had happened.

"You throw too slow." He tisked, and shook his head. "And you still didn't take the shot Beth?"

Adelie – Hagrid’s Hut

Addy smiled towards the other students who were gathered near the hut as she approached, waving a bit to those who looked familiar. She turned as Jimmy caught up with her, raising an eyebrow at his attempt to redeem is earlier fraternizing with the enemy. ”Well the only way Slytherins win is by cheatin' anyway,” she said, agreeing with him in a sense, but still not quite having forgiven him. Ah well. He was just too friendly for his own good she supposed. She was friendly with everyone but Slytherins, it was just too bad they were a quarter of the school.

Addy glanced over her right shoulder away from James and saw the purple haired girl and another boy walking this way. She scrunched her lips to the side, exhaling a sigh and looking back to James. ”D'ya s'ppose I’ve created another Slytherin bully fer me self?” she asked, already having a few of th snakes who picked on her. Like the one who dared her into the black lake first year, and the one who knocked her off her broom 5th. And those hadn’t even been provoked. Ah well. Best not to worry about it for now. After all, surely whatever creature Hagrid had to display would take her mind off things.

Anthony Stuart

Not for the first time in his life, Anthony was considering the life of a truant. Not only would it get him out of his least favourite class (when would he ever use Care of Magical creatures?) but it would also give him time to sate his thunderous mood in an attempt to not get expelled for hexing someone.

By someone, he meant David, who was not even worthy in his mind of a nickname like 'Scruffy' anymore. Though he didn't hate the boy -- it was hardly the first time such an insult against his parents had been insinuated -- he severely, extremely, definitely disliked him, mostly for ruining what could have been a good day.

The Stuart heir slipped into the crowd of Hogwarts students, trying his very hardest to stay at the fringes. Crossing his arms, he came up with as many scathing insults against the (kind, he reluctantly admitted) half-giant for forcing him to come outside on such a miserable morning for a class.

A light breeze caught his hair and, of course, blew it over his eyes. Merlin, he hated life.

Ryan Hallow
Outside Hagrid's hut

Tessa referenced a classic muggle tale that Ryan's aunt used to recite to him every Saturday night before he tugged into his sheets. It was his favorite story, he was intrigued by the idea of magic and wizards, even from such an early age. He wouldn't mind that he had to listen to it almost four times a month, but eventually he learned to visualize it differently every time it was told.

Ryan wanted to reply with something witty about the reference, 'Don't forget your shoes', he wanted to say that to Beth. He opted out and kept listening to the two girls converse instead. Beth would occasionally look back and smile at him, he'd smile just as much in kind.

When they were finally there outside the familiar hut, Ryan gasped as he was forced to be between quite a large throng of talkative, active students from various years and houses. He saw a couple students he once talked to, and a few fellow Ravenclaw kids. Eager faces all around.

Scott O'Riley - Hagrids Hut

Scott had just finished eating when he noticed the time and thought he should head down to Hagrids so he can get a decent view
of the magical creature. Wanting to pay complete attention to the creature he looked at his quill and cast a self scibing spell. While he was making sure it was working and have it configure to only take down Hagrids voice. While he was walking with his head down he bumped into a Gryffindor onto the ground. What his luck a Quidditch player, hopefully he didn't hurt her, he doesn't want to be responsible for one of their players getting injured. It was their beater Adelie, Scott remembers during a game she got knocked unconscious and broke some bones so you definitely has been through worse than getting knocked to the ground.

"Oh my god Adelie, I am so sorry for that I wasn't paying attention to where I was going" All Scott could hear behind him was the
sound of his quill scribbling on parchment, I guess his spell was partially working, now only to adjust to Hagrids voice. Scott helped Adelie back to her feet and was about to wipe the dirt off her robes but figured that it would be rude to touch her without permission. "Again I'm really sorry Adelie for bumping into you but I need to get going to get a better view to see this creature ... Sorry" He walked into the crowd to try and get closer to the entrance to the Hut.
