Makes sense. As you wish.Although it woulda been nice to hear before we all went off and made our own mechs. :P

That's exactly why I've been reluctant to do so. It was the initial plan before all this craziness occurred, I just figured it might be more fun if everyone could custom their own mech based on the details I provided in the CS.

"Light, Medium or Heavy Bipedal Weapon Platform or some sort of Quadrupedal (four legs) Weapon Platform. Bipedal Weapon Platforms should limit themselves up to two secondary weapon systems (for example, two wrist-mounted machine guns or maybe a chest-mounted flamethrower), a single primary weapon (an up to scale, "hand"-held rifle or something similar) and one heavy weapon system (a shoulder mounted tank cannon perhaps). Quadrupedal Weapon Platforms, or just Walkers, may double their number of weapon systems."

The Patton does make sense. Just not having MAC cannons. There's a reason why MAC cannons are mounted on ships in the halo series or mounted on giant ass tripods for ground to orbit weapons. Because they are more destructive than nukes. Add a 105mm Howi on it instead.

I only care since I changed my character around it. Would suck to have to fix him.

Yeah I can change the Patton up and the reason why I have another captain is to have a troop commander in the field I mean I can ask it to change but I didn't mind really.

It does allow for more freedom and creativity. Though of course the drawback is lack of realism and people making theirs mechs too powerful.

Sorry for all the mech talk, Konrad. I know it was bothering you. Hopefully we'll be over it soon and conversations about other subjects would take its place.

Yeah, at this point, I think I'd rather just take all the Infantry characters and ditch the mech concept entirely. Either that or like I said, I'll make all of them myself and have the mech pilots just choose a frame and it's loadout.

I'm good with letting you decide the mechs are there load outs, it will be sad to see the Patton go though :'(

Mechs can remain. But the thing is, they need to be aptly adopted, so that infantry coexist in that way. I mean, I like the ideas, but it feels as if this is trying to be one or the other. The premise of this RP was that it was exiting to both parties- and in the end, we can make it work- BUT, we cannot dick around with Mechs, neither Infantry as to make one or the other not work. So far, it seems workable, to a degree. If not, then ditch.

Going full on infantry would, frankly, frustrate me. It'd mean not only reworking my entire CS, but also that the original concept we were promised before has been thrown out the window in favor of making it easier to work with. You'd be like some sort of roleplay EA. However, I agree with the whole load out thing.

I like the concept of mechs. But only in support of infantry I used to be a cavalryman in the military. We normally had 4 Humvees for support and fast attack, and securing flanks. Then we would have 2-3 Stryker's in support of infantry, they were heavy support, mobile cover, and if needed they could be gutted for medievac and quick evacs. So perhaps limit the amount of Mechs. Or turn them into squads and class them and choose someone you trust to take care of these squads and make sure they remain on track.

So attach a light Mech to a recon company, a set of heavy armored mechs to a mechanized, perhaps this being a better method. Perhaps this? Who knows- it could work, but I am shooting the moon.

Alright I changed up the Pattons guns and added a list of current members by people who have stated they wished to join.

Unit: 1st Breach Platoon aka "Hard knocks Platoon", this Platoon has three or four Mechs and a squad of six to ten infantry. The job of the breach platoon is to escort the main Breacher class Mech (The Patton) towards the objective once they have reached the build the Mech then extends a enclosed high powered ramp through the target breaching it and delivering a sudden attack though barriers and buildings. Due to the immense size of the Breacher it is rather slow due to having thick armor and heavy guns and light guns however it's Quadrupedal so it does take a lot to bring down. Many have referred to it as "A walking tank" however it is more along the lines of a APC. The other Mechs in the Platoon are normally light assault Mechs or medium class at minimum as the other Mechs are in charge of keeping faster attacker from destroying the Breacher. After assaults are carried out the Mech can becomes a artillery battery using laser targeting to destroy enemy's from long range.

Hard Knocks Platoon pilots
Captain Knight (Platoon leader.)
1st Lieutenant Nicholson

Hard knocks infantry and personal
Captain Locklear (Field commander for infantry.)
Warrant Officer DuBois (Assign to Patton for in field repairs and as advisory to Captain Knight.)
Staff Sergeant Mcknight (Demolitions expert)
2nd Lieutenant Connors (Sniper/Scout)

So what about my field command mech? Mainly hardware for communications, support, etc.

He'd be the spotter to the sniper, essentially. Lightly armored, lightly armed, but has equipment to be strategically vital.

Hard Knocks is built around protecting the main Mech (Patton) who delivers troops then gives fire support once they are clear, Mechs for this company need to be more defensive and able to combat other Mechs or vehicles looking to take down the Patton. I would gladly take you but once again it's about utility and how the Mechs work with the troops in there Platoons.

The Patton is artillery, no?

Artillery is like a really big sniper. It needs a spotter.

The mech I have in mind isn't even supposed to be IN combat; it's supposed to stand back, in a hiding place near the Patton or whatever it's targeting for, and have connections with each of the mechs in the field. The mechs would target and identify enemy mechs and emplacements, and have some kind of external 3D scanner. All this, in turn, would be sent back to my mech, which would take it all in, map it out, predict possible courses of enemy mechs, and uses drones to keep track of them. Then it'd select good targets and give the Patton firing coordinates.

Hi. Spotter. Right here. I designed my guy to be the pattons spotter. I changed everything about him so he could watch out for it so the escorts to stay protecting. I have drones, targeting and everything else. Sort of unfair to just take that all away.

Didn't know

But is he supposed to be the like
everything
airstrikes
orbital strikes [if this is that kind of thing]
long-range artillery
tracking and scanning

communications to everyone
etc.

Like the radio guy during wars. Calls for reinforcements and the like.

If so, then I'll go with something with six-legs, relatively small and maneuverable, with short-range plasma cannons [hit-and-run tactics, with weapons that require somewhat medium-long recharge times]

or maybe I'll have a railgun and an autocannon...

or maybe just autocannons.

The infantry spot for the Patton and also the Mech's with the Patton have to combat other Mechs, armor, and air support as the Patton would destroyed by them.

Again, my idea was to call in the airstrikes and the like. Indirect combat.
