...I won't say anything on balance. I just won't. I absolutely refuse to speak on the topic. However, I will say this.

In my opinion, the idea of the humans just bending over and happily letting an entire foreign alien race tell them that they suck for letting their planet devolve into a radioactive inferno of nuclear war and how to run their own governments and policies was completely and utterly ridiculous.

Edit: Okay, maybe I misread that a bit. You want the humans to refuse help that's being offered to them that doesn't promise to essentially colonize them. The enemy of their enemy is their friend. Refusing help out of pride is also ridiculous and Duck is essentially trying to metagame for your help and favour. In my honest decision, I would honestly say to you: These kind of things should NOT have been decided in OOC PMs - whether or not the humans accept help should be strictly roleplay and their decision, whatever it may be, should be in character for them as a people.

HM. I like the idea of dancing in a clown suit on a checkerboard cake with chocolate frosting, it sounds pretty funny.

In all honesty, the idea of humans pretty much letting themselves get stomped and taken over by aliens when a way out just turned up on their door step is pretty far off, especially considering most humans won't even accept each others rule. That probably the biggest and most glaring problem. I think most humans would make the connection between this scenario and the arrival of the Europeans in the less advanced areas of the world

At one point, I would have disagreed. But you know what? That's right. The roleplay shouldn't be like a game of civ where you say 'No war until turn whatever", it should be based off of the characters that appear. I mean, it's called roleplaying. That's kind of the point.

Definitely agree here. I just suggested that if the entirety of the human fleet got together and attacked the 100 or so fleet the EU has in Sol, they might win, especially with my dreadnoughts that are basically sniper rifles with broadside weapons. Here's what duck said on the dreadnought matter:Doge Duck: WellllllllllllllllllllllKeyguy: I've got six or seven by nowDoge Duck: Iscandarian Dreadnoughts are much bigger then your averageDoge Duck: Thats why they take so long to buildKeyguy: DuckKeyguy: I already assumed thatDoge Duck: A regular battlecruiser is about the size of wnat most consider a Dreadnought]That's Duck saying that a battlecruiser of his is exactly as large as the biggest vessels a civilization that has colonized an entire system thoroughly has ever constructed. Here's another jewel:Keyguy: One questionKeyguy: How many ships are there laying back with the dreadnought?Doge Duck: 6Doge Duck: Keyguy: That's why you don't get close.Doge Duck: What are you going to do?Keyguy: Human dreadnoughts are basically gigantic sniper rifles that can fire giant blobs of plasmaKeyguy: except they have broadside cannonDoge Duck: Iscandarians have really strong shieldsReally strong shields. REALLY. STRONG. SHIELDS. I say my six or so dreadnoughts have plasma accelerator weaponry that's definitely capable of doing significant damage to some ships, and the response? "Uhh... they're like, better."This is what I heard after I suggested that the humans might be capable of winning:Doge Duck: I HAVE PLANNED THIS FOR A FUCKING LONG ASS TIMEDoge Duck: AND YOUR GOING TO FUCKING RUIN ITKeyguy: Okay then, what happens after you take over Earth?Doge Duck: ReformDoge Duck: Extermination of the rebelsDoge Duck: Strict right standardsNot that I can read minds, but that really, sounds like an excuse. You can decide for yourselves, but it doesn't take that long to plan three broad things. Given that every Iscandarian is exactly the same in their views and those are pretty well-defined, it doesn't take too long to figure out what those reforms and standards would be.This next one can speak for itself:Keyguy: You do realize that Fergus is gonna be mad, right?Doge Duck: YesKeyguy: And that he's killed hundreds already?Doge Duck: But Faust will come talk to himDoge Duck: And calm him*Sigh*This is the start of the argument (The most recent one, that is):Doge Duck: soKeyguy: HeyDoge Duck: are you telling them to pisss offKeyguy: Does the Dreadnought have hangars?Doge Duck: NoDoge Duck: And A 101 ship fleet is going to overpower ANYTHING the Terrnans haveNo, definitely not! It'll bet there aren't windows either, or any slightly misplaced subatomic particles. You also have to love how the first thing that gets said to me after I get an answer is "Oh yeah, I WIN". A slice from the direct predecessor to the argument that just happened, this was recent as well:Doge Duck: Favor pleaseDoge Duck: Tell the guys in orbitDoge Duck: The new contactDoge Duck: Jeddevans raceDoge Duck: To back the fuck offDoge Duck: Tel them that you wanna fight this own your ownKeyguy: Why would the humans do that?Keyguy: Their current line of thinking is "Fuck the Iscandarians"Doge Duck: Because they think the can perserveDoge Duck: And they dont know the aliens so yeahDoge Duck: And I dont want them interveneing anywaysTo me, that sounds like "So yeah, these people who are offering to save the humans? Well, since they can totally destroy my fleet, have the humans refuse their help. I don't wanna lose."Any opinions? Am I right? Am I wrong? Should Duck be punished? Should I be punished? Should we both be punished? Should I dance in a clown suit on top of a checkerboard cake with chocolate frosting? You tell me.(EDIT: Forgot to say this, I think, most likely. Anyways, I was totally a dick in that convo too. I yelled a lot, I obviously though I was justified. I kind of had a breakdown, and imitated duck in a particularly insulting way. I do have a pretty short temper, but either way, that's what happened. Duck asked me to tell you something, and being the smartass that I am, I'll do it in the one way he definitely didn't want me to do it:Doge Duck: Oh and the whole telling you not to ask for help Doge Duck: Was a jokeKeyguy: ...Keyguy: DuckDoge Duck is now Online.Doge Duck: It wasDoge Duck: And so was the Faust thing )

See, there's a reason why I've never disclosed how many ships my nation has nor what their full capabilities are.

Usually I just go with "they're big enough" and "there are enough of them to adequately progress whatever plot I'm working with".

This constant one-upping is stupid.

And to be frank I'd be more worried about 30 smaller FTL-capable vessels with high-yield missiles than multiple slow-accelerating slabs of armor and spinal-mounted weaponry.

Although I try to avoid being vindictive, Duck does need to be punished in some way. If he isn't, he will never learn.

For what?
Something that happened in a steam IM that has no effect on this RP?
As I said it was a joke, I never meant Keyguy to take it the way he did.

Ok
So
I read the posts
And um
I saw Duck's
"I was just a joke!"

And um
Well
First
-3000 relation with Dictator-Duck, to be like Mount&Blade Warband
and uh
I burst out laughing
I coughed really hard
Gagged a little bit
Cause like
I was, actually, kinda ok with Duck
Then that happened
and uh
yeah

Really, Duck?
I mean
REALLY?

Dude

...

REALLY?

I mean
Honest-to-god
REALLY

you're going to say that shit
Then you're literally going to make excuses and say you're way better

And then you'll say it was a joke? That you were going to use your overpowered goddess to take care of one of the major threats?

Like
Fucking
goddamn
REALLY?

KeyGuy, would you join if I started an alternate version of the Star Empire series and exclusively banned duck from having anything relating or pertaining to gods, goddesses, magic, or heavy defenses? Because I honestly would like to see Duck finally WRITE like the rest of us, instead of just curb-stomping and getting angry when it goes South.

Also, if I stay, KeyGuy, would you like to enter the little alliance between me and the Convergence?
Cause I'd like to curbstomp Duck later.

I didn't really dislike Duck before, more like i was just aggravated, like a little kid who keeps bugging you, but now
like
Jesus christ. "Tell them fuckers to back off and you want to fight on your own!"

like....
jesus.

And you made him Co-GM again?

Dude, do NOT try to weasel your ass out of this. You had it coming, and it DOES have an affect on the RP because you're trying to get your target to be as vulnerable and helpless as possible.

It has no effect on the RP since said thing was a joke.

Oh and how about I mention Keyguy's whole surround Alas Prime with a large fleet and declare a Terran Empire, before much the same as me saying it was a joke?

If I go about during World War I and scream that the draft is a means to destroy the humanity of the world, and police officers move to arrest me for treason, do you think they will stop because I said, "Sorry guys, it was a joke, just a joke, nothing going on here."

Duck, don't even. And KeyGuy couldn't
A) Get to Alas Prime, since that is a great distance away that requires FTL, which almost none of his ships has
B) have the fleet to do so, since your shields are better than everything
C) beat you in the first place, because you'll bring in everything you can, even nonexistant everythings, to win.

Fergus = humanity's leader. What he says will probably happen. Kill him, and humanity will NEVER bow to Equestr- Iscandarian rule, and you will NEVER be able to have Earth unless you commit genocide and kill everyone on it!

A)He was pretty serious about it, and he has been refitting ships for quite a while now.

B)I said my shields were pretty gurd, not the best.

C)Really?

And your WW1 analogy is a terrible one, nor would people take you seriously. What I said was a joke, I never meant key to take it the way he did.

"Favor please. Tell the guys in orbit, the new contact, Jeddevans race to back the fuck off. Tell them that you wanna fight this own your own"

"Why would the humans do that? Their current line of thinking is 'Fuck the Iscandarians.'"

"Because they think the can perserve and they dont know the aliens so yeah. And I dont want them interveneing anyways."

...Can you find the humour here? I sure can't.

Duck, you sir, either have one of the strangest, convenient, unconventional and oddest senses of humor I have ever seen. Either that, or you're a dirty dirty liar.

In World War I, speaking against the government or the draft was a federal offense, set to be punished as treason, and several laws were enacted taking away freedom of the press, speech, and censorship of mail for exactly those reasons.

Duck, the RP, in my mind, is getting interesting now. Let it happen, and roleplay how the Union will learn from this. That there are a lot of races out there, and the Union has to be more careful in future.

Or call of hostities, and let humanity do it's thing.

Oh, and duck

When you seriously screw up
And you know it
And you keep trying to pass it off
Don't
Cause that just makes it worse.

It's like your friend finally getting angry at you for stealing all the candy and giving him none, so he points at your stash of stolen candies, and while everyone is very clearly accusing you and have proof, you're saying, "The dog did it."
