Name: Gideon Drake
]Number: 5
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Appearance: Personality: A harried young man who stresses over the well-being and mental health of his teammates. Despite this, he’s secretive when it comes to his own issues, feeling that he doesn't want to bother anyone.
Almost disturbingly uncaring when it comes to people outside his direct circle of comrades.
He's also surprisingly quick-witted when it comes to getting out of paperwork.
Abilities: Born into the Drake family, a mid-teir clan of mages known for their affinity for metal, Gideon possesses an exceptionally large pool of low quality mana. He actually knows very few spells due to this, instead perfecting his few abilities to make up for what others can in variety. At their base, all Gideon’s spells revolve around the movement and control of pure metals(Alloys don’t work for him). In most cases, he is able to solve problems by hurling many iron and silver spikes at the target. He can also use this ability to bind down rogue mages without killing them.
His most complex and complete spell is the Golem. A constantly fueled puppet that Gideon can control from afar, the seven foot avatar of hulking metal that is known as the Golem is the key to the young Drake’s offensive talent. Made entirely of folded iron, the massive frame operates like a battering ram, its joints worked by Gideon’s magic. Despite the advantage this gives him in long range-engagements, the limits of his lower quality mana show at distances and places beyond his line of sight. At these points, the Golem becomes sluggish and predictable, often halting movement entirely as Gideon tries to move to a better location.
As a whole, he uses his powers in a supporting fashion as he’s unreliable in a fight at worst. The Golem can be used to fight his battles alongside his partners by taking and giving blows where Gideon could not, along with the arsenal of metal that he can hurl from a distance.
Equipment: Given his affinity and quality of mana, Gideon relies heavily on his equipment.
Two dozen knives of pure iron, along with a longsword of the same metal, along with six silver rings carried in his pockets. The parts for the Golem are only carted around when the hunting operation proper has started. Outside of that, Gideon is unusually fond of well-tailored dress-shirts.
History: Gideon’s exceptional talents were hidden from a young age due to a design oversight in his teaching. Despite the backing and encouragement from his family, Gideon’s young years proved disastrous for both his social skills and magical capability. He was never able to cast anything complex enough to please either his tutors or his family nor was he able to do anything impressive enough to make friends.
His exceptional talent as a mana provider and battery was discovered soon after he enter the college at a low level and proved that he could outlast the professor when casting basic spellcraft. After a few more tests were run on him, the young Drake was quickly accepted into the ranks of more experimental magi.
Upon their urging and support, he joined the Unlucky Six less than three months later. If nothing else, Gideon had found a place where he could finally use his talents to their fullest extent.
