Alright, neat. For the advancements that aren't covered specifically, I'm just going to assume cities and stuff in general's more advanced, and if I get something wrong you can just tell me. Since laser weapons are pretty much run of the mill now, and only poor people use ballistics, can Basso's sniper rifle be of the laser variety? He not only has he served in XCOM from beginning to end, he's also a firearms instructor (which I guess should be changed to laserarms instructor), so it's not much of a stretch that he'd have one.

Yeah, that's fine. If he's already a member of The Eye, you could even have him use plasma. It's a well-funded terrorist organization; whatever they haven't stolen, they could probably afford anyway on the black market.

Just waiting on a few more CSs before we get the ball rolling. I was thinking of having all characters (all Psychics, anyways) begin in detention at their respective nationality's psychic detainment center, with their respective affiliation (either Tanaka's organization or The Eye) breaking them out in the first couple of posts. Characters with the same nationality would be sent to the same detainment center, and thus be able to meet and interact in the opening post. Others may be "alone" in their center, but I'll make sure to write that their organization gets them out first so they aren't just sitting around.

Thoughts?

I'd like to rescue someone, but I think nobody else is in Italy...

Then again, I never really mentioned where Basso stayed after the war, so I'll just place myself in America, since that seems to be the "hotspot" of this RP, so to speak.

I plan on doing a MEC. Reasons why is because in the upcoming character's history, he got gravely injured and failed. I also remember turning any operative in XCOM that failed me into MECs. Do I have permission?

I should have my character sheet up by the end of tomorrow. Hopefully. Aligned with The Eye, and ex-XCOM

Basso: Since your character is in The Eye, you can choose to just have evaded the authorities when they came for you. Likely, your cell would have provided assistance in that anyways. So yeah, either start out in a facility and I'll have The Eye get you out, or start as a free man and rescue another Eye operative.

Uber: yeah, that's fine! Get your CS in soon, though, as there's a 2 character limit on XCOM MECs (and Fallen will have one of those spots once he gets his CS in)

I think I'll opt for starting out in a facility, preferrably with some other PCs.

If somebody else wants to be a MEC I'll happily budge over. I really don't mind
I didn't think there was any other MEC Troopers in the RP

I'm unsure as to what faction your character currently belongs to. American army? Looking for a faction?

Oh. As for factions, I did intend him to be a loner until he finds out his old friends are alive.

Since he's not a Psychic, his options are restricted to either Government forces, or Tanaka's rebellion (I promise I'll find a name for this group eventually — it'll likely be worked out in-game). The Eye is an extremist faction that, for the most part, despises non-Psychics, and would not let a human without the Gift into their ranks.

Alternatively, I suppose one could simply not choose a faction initially. Since the character isn't Psychic, he wouldn't be taken. There would have to be some connection to the gov't initially though, if he wanted to have the suit

He theoretically would have been a Gifted soldier had he not been a MEC. Odysseus' brain power is mainly knowledge and guile.

I think you need to update 'The World of XCOM' hider. Namely the Factions tab. I was just about to join the Eye as a MEC xD

Ubermensch, I was planning on having my character as a sort of student of yours while she was at XCOM. She is a bit more hot headed and joined and became a MEC after your character. Obviously our characters would have some sort of relationship because we were the 2 MECs at XCOM

I also wonder what our ex-XCOM soldiers relations with the volunteer were. It might be worth GM making a character sheet for them, because if you want to go for the most dramatic approach it was the most decorated soldier in XCOM and leader of the squad who sacrificed themselves for Earth. In which our characters may be a bit sad about losing them

I also assume all ex-XCOM were on the last mission

Name: Annabel 'Rhino' Delacroix
Gender: Female
Age: 28
Occupation: Soldier for French army
Appearance: Dark green MEC suit with bright red stripes. Often wears a cap with headset or a helmet. Without the suit often keeps limbs fully covered with long sleeves, gloves and such as well as baggy trousers.
Nationality: French
Trait: Augmented - Base
Robotic limbs
Ability to interface with MEC suit
MECs have a retractable eyepiece that at the very least helps them aim

Strengths:
Brainy = Helped out in the lab with a few scientists, and picked up knowledge of alien tech along the way as well as just becoming more intelligent
Dexterous(ish) = Experienced in moving around the battlefield dodging shots or absorbing them into her thickest armour, as with any experienced MEC user. Good at avoiding damage when without the suit as well
Adept Melee fighter = Can beat most foes in close combat with the assistance of the arm toaster. This includes (but is not limited to:) Pretty much anything.

Weaknesses:
Close and personal = Enjoys crushing enemy foes. Most of the time she knows when to take it cool, but loves running in
Fighter not a leader = Far from a tactical mind. She takes orders but lacks self confidence or experience to give them.
Honour-Bound = Much prefers fighting equal engagements or harder. Doesn't like preying on others

Personality:
Ocassionally hot headed
Loyal
Likes to be in the center of things, if only to observe
Hates chrysallids so bloody much

History:
Nobody could have expected the initial bombardments. Even when they happened most assumed it was some kind of joke, after decades of media desentasisation towards the idea of invasion. Of course, laughing in disbelief is something else entirely when the structures around you fall. Panic was all that met the aliens as they stalked the streets gunning down civillains before taking them away. Well, mostly. Here and there pockets of resistence sprouted. As a Gendarmerie she was equipped with a rifle and told to help get people to the subway. Without so much as armour and only basic firearms it was a massacre, as basic slugs sank into the monsters with little effect. Soon a handful of the force was knocked back to a subway entrance. If they faltered hundreds or thousands would die. The first victory was achieved that day, not by body count, but by the line being drawn. For an entire night that unit stood against the Alien threat, and where officers fell civillians picked up their guns and took the cover. The millitairy stormed in come the dawn, and where greeted by more survivors than they expected. It was no surpise she was moved into a specialist French Alien combat unit
After some months serving she was transferred from the French Alien combat unit by order of the Council of Nations for a favour. She fitted in well to her new home already having 3 months experience with the menace, though XCOM had the ability to not just buy time against the threat, but to beat it. She was very impressed by the skills of a certain Odysseus, and his prowess on the field, as well as assisting the engineering department. He was a stoic sentinel.
Basso was almost simillar, but swapped Odysseus' knowledge of engineering for a damned good aim. He was polite enough, but the idea of genetic mutation seemed... wrong.
As the war progressed Annabel became an asset in the lab, having a simple faster working mind and being able to lift all the heavy objects and fetch coffee, but was frustrated that human tech couldn't quite keep up with Alien progression. Always one civillain that could have been saved, or a scar that could have been avoided with better guns or armour. It was this that lead her to volunteer to become a MEC trooper, as to bring more firepower to bear and help more in missions. Although her squadmates generally disagreed with her decision, everybody agreed that any immorality was made obselete by the advantages gained.

After the final mission Annabel was moved back into the French army, but more kept in reserve. Though she has been studied for her MEC implants mostly attempts have been massively hampered due to the Council seizing the resource MELD.
She has been living her life in relative normality in Paris, getting used to her basic implants. With the brewing conflict between Psychics she figures she may be called back into duty soon. Though she might not want to fight for France. The psychics at XCOM were responsible, educating them seems the way to go, not crushing them
