History:
Nobody could have expected the initial bombardments. Even when they happened most assumed it was some kind of joke, after decades of media desentasisation towards the idea of invasion. Of course, laughing in disbelief is something else entirely when the structures around you fall. Panic was all that met the aliens as they stalked the streets gunning down civillains before taking them away. Well, mostly. Here and there pockets of resistence sprouted. As a Gendarmerie she was equipped with a rifle and told to help get people to the subway. Without so much as armour and only basic firearms it was a massacre, as basic slugs sank into the monsters with little effect. Soon a handful of the force was knocked back to a subway entrance. If they faltered hundreds or thousands would die. The first victory was achieved that day, not by body count, but by the line being drawn. For an entire night that unit stood against the Alien threat, and where officers fell civillians picked up their guns and took the cover. The millitairy stormed in come the dawn, and where greeted by more survivors than they expected. It was no surpise she was moved into a specialist French Alien combat unit
After some months serving she was transferred from the French Alien combat unit by order of the Council of Nations for a favour. She fitted in well to her new home already having 3 months experience with the menace, though XCOM had the ability to not just buy time against the threat, but to beat it. She was very impressed by the skills of a certain Odysseus, and his prowess on the field, as well as assisting the engineering department. He was a stoic sentinel.
Basso was almost simillar, but swapped Odysseus' knowledge of engineering for a damned good aim. He was polite enough, but the idea of genetic mutation seemed... wrong.
As the war progressed Annabel became an asset in the lab, having a simple faster working mind and being able to lift all the heavy objects and fetch coffee, but was frustrated that human tech couldn't quite keep up with Alien progression. Always one civillain that could have been saved, or a scar that could have been avoided with better guns or armour. It was this that lead her to volunteer to become a MEC trooper, as to bring more firepower to bear and help more in missions. Although her squadmates generally disagreed with her decision, everybody agreed that any immorality was made obselete by the advantages gained.
After the final mission Annabel was moved back into the French army, but more kept in reserve. Though she has been studied for her MEC implants mostly attempts have been massively hampered due to the Council seizing the resource MELD.
She has been living her life in relative normality in Paris, getting used to her basic implants. With the brewing conflict between Psychics she figures she may be called back into duty soon. Though she might not want to fight for France. The psychics at XCOM were responsible, educating them seems the way to go, not crushing them
