Where, essentially the ship FTLs forward by predicting exact coordinates- and I mean EXACT- and then coming out close and behind. A viable tactic for the Explorer, since it uses short range swarming missiles, which can be countered as the range lengthens, and particle cannons that get weaker the farther they travel. If an Explorer were to engage one of your ships with its FTL-blocked, then it may try this new tactic and be utterly torn apart.
And more than that, anyone watching would see only a ship FTLing very close, and then being utterly and instantly destroyed by a massive surge of energy. That would be a GREAT factor in deciding treaties and the like- all I would know is that a ship got in close, and was instantly destroyed. That would be pretty intimidating.
