There's truth to this. For instance I find it really annoying how terminal wants to have such detailed pre-contact records and only interact with him to some regard on it because IC isn't up yet. Like, I can just make up what the annihilators did to destroy their interstellar civilization of why they made/uplifted the sugarcubes in the first place as we go into IC. But some brief glimpse into what the hell Ari are in more regards than beings that like order and try to uphold galactic law. At least a picture or something of what they look like would be nice. If I could draw better i'd make a picture of a sugarcube.

Terminal is merely asking if people want to have had contact in the past. I thoroughly enjoyed discussing our first contact, but each to their own.

It's done passively, bit by bit, as you go. George R.R Martin didn't publish a huge sheet explaining everything that happened before he published his first A Song of Ice and Fire book (he did release a book detaling the world, but only long after he had created it through the book series). He published his first book and unraveled the backstory as he went. Little by little, using everything from character thoughts, to speeches, and the occasional in-character history lesson (or even just passive references), he built a rich world that is the setting of one of the most popular book series and TV show. He built this world through the eyes and words of the characters, and now fans lose themselves in it.

He wasn't collaboratively roleplaying a game based story. Forum based roleplaying is at it's heart about a purposed sense of writing. I'd rather an interactive player than some over-descriptive story whore. Not that I'm saying anybody is as such.

You don't like telling good stories. Got it. Actually, aren't you being over-descriptive?

You don't need to know the intricate details of a character or nation's history in order to effectively collaborate with the writer behind it. All you need to do is read what the writer posts. By reading, you learn about whatever the writer is roleplaying and react to it accordingly. You will eventually gain an understanding of their creation, and be able to make posts about it without having to consult a sheet.

Take Precipice of War for an example. We all play countries that are wildly different from their real-life counterparts, yet not one of us needs to consult each others' sheets to make posts and create a story together. This is because we have read each others' posts and watched our nations grow and be defined through in-character posts. We know what our nations are about because we created them together, in-character.

See that's a straight up insult and I don't appreciate that. I'm not continuing this conversation.

There isn't even an insult there, but okay. I've said about all there is to say anyway.

Telling someone that they don't like writing a good story just because they hold a different opinion than you on how much detail should be on a sheet is definitely an insult. You may not mean to, but you're coming off as kind of disparaging and elitist. You need at least some detail on it, or else the GM has absolutely no idea what to base their acceptance/denial off of. And if you're going to explain it somewhere else, why not just take the time to put it on a sheet? I agree that the level of detail Terminal and Darkmatter put into their sheets isn't necessary, but there's nothing wrong with them doing so.

No, it wasn't.

If we are going to consider that an insult, then we should consider his implying that I, or Gorgenmast, am/is "an over-descriptive story whore." should be considered an insult too. One that is much clearer and offensive than the mere act of acknowledging he does not prefer story-telling (AKA writing good stories), as he himself said. You don't see me crying insult, though.

I am not trying to offend anyone, anyway. I am only stating my opinion. If my opinion prompts overreactions on part of others, then.. well, that sucks, I guess.

You need at least some detail on it, or else the GM has absolutely no idea what to base their acceptance/denial off of.

Jeddaven knows how good a writer Gorgenmast is.

Well, yeah, I do. If anyone here can prove to me that they're a good writer, and I get an idea of their nation, they're in.

Edit-Gorgen, I know that you -are- a good writer, but I'd still like that your app at least tells people about your nation. Not, like, every little bit of history, but enough information to give an idea.

Doubleedit-New apps. Thoughts?

So, possible bad news everybody. I'm currently using a borrowed power cord for my laptop, and my laptop is the only access to the internet that I own. Unfortunately, the person the cord belongs to just asked for it back. As a result, I have no idea when I'll have a new power cord by and so I need to conserve power. Meaning that, if I don't get a new cord soon, I may have to drop the RP since I won't have any means to actually get online and post.

It is 57th galactic year, nearly 400 years since the human race became the first to travel faster than light. Their technology spread throughout the galaxy as they flourished, as pioneers at the forefront of technological advancement. Many men and women struck out to form their own great nations, many of which survive to this day. Yet, although humans are powerful, they are not the only inhabitants of our Milky Way galaxy. There are many others; many more who thrive and prosper as they do. There are many, perhaps dozens of other nations in the galaxy, some forged by warfare, others by business and trade, and others by religion. The majority, of course, by a slew of complex factors.

In the 57th galactic year, millions will die, and great empires will fall, just as new ones will rise. Whether it is through war, economic woes, political machinations, or the chaos of the universe itself, there will be great change. The Milky Way Galaxy, and perhaps the universe itself, will remain forever changed.

Welcome to Amongst Living Gods, a Sci-Fi NRP that I've been working on in an interest check for nearly two weeks now. Despite the title, there aren't any omnipotent beings in this RP - just the multitude of mortal beings that inhabit it. The point, essentially, is to avoid the typical cliches you see in Sci-Fi - or, if the cliches exist, to do something with them that hasn't been done before. I'm trying to make a roleplay that's unique, and is going to last. You'll find the app sheets below. Despite the fact that some people might have long posts and apps, I encouraged anyone to join - as long as you're able to say things in a relatively interesting, readable way, you've most likely met the requirement. Quality is the key, not just quantity.

For the below apps, know that you can include extra things that fit outside of the categories listed if you want. The first IC post will be up soon!

i am tempted to join with a group of ice dragons (i have a set of ideas for their blood and body composition, just need to check it over with a science loving friend) but i am new to these nation rps. i cannot garinte any quality from me though as i am a free rper

edit: i actually started to read some of the ooc for you guys. you guys are very detailed in your descriptions. my ccs (or would it be better to call it a nation sheet?) will most likely be very small, as well as my ic posts. but i will be able to post often (i think.)
