Firered/Leafgreen is a remake of Red/Blue/Green which were the original Pokemon games, so it's about as close as you can get to playing the original Pokemon story that started it all. Heartgold/Soulsilver is a remake of the Gen II Gold/Silver, which is also a rather classic story and, overall, I just feel like Heartgold/Soulsilver is a really well-made game. you could pick up Ruby/Sapphire since the remakes of those were released recently, so you can at least play the original versions of the games that everyone's talking about. Except, if you want a Gen III storyline, I recommend Emerald. It's a vast improvement over Ruby/Sapphire. Black/White I personally don't hate but the creature design for Gen V gets a lot of criticism, so it might not be a great place to start. I've actually never played Black2/White2 but I hear they're actual proper sequels or something, so you probably shouldn't go to them if you haven't played the original Black/White. Diamond/Pearl I'm just personally not a huge fan of and if you really want to play a DS title as opposed to a GBA one, I recommend Heartgold/Soulsilver. Platinum I hear is a lot better than Diamond/Pearl but I'm not sure I ever actually played that one, either. Sorry that 's taken me forever to reply to this. The guild hasn't been working and it finally started working today so I could make a reply.

First off I got my DS Lite as a Christmas present when I was about 8 or 9 and my family gave me a bunch of GameBoy games for it. Now I only know Pokemon as a card game until I really got into the world that is the internet. For crying out loud one of my 'sister' (not my actual sister but basically one) had a whole book of Pokemon cards and she gave me a shiny card (though I can't remember it). I only learned about the games once I got my laptop and started reading CreepyPastas. I've probably seen commercials for Pokemon before I read the Pokemon CreepyPastas but I don't remember them.

Also to note it was my PARENTS telling me that there are no Pokemon games for DS Lite. And yes I have other Nintendo consoles, the last one that I got being my Wii. My dad has a PS2 which none of his PS games will save on which will forever tick me off cause I want to play Final Fantasy and save my progress so I can sleep between playing.

Also funny story with the Wii. My grandpa ended up undecorating our Christmas tree when we were playing bowling on the Wii. He caught the garland on the tree and pulled it off. It was hilarious.

Now yes if you do buy them used from Amazon they are a lot cheaper but God knows what the previous owner did to it. Well just to clear things up, there are no main series Pokemon games for Wii. All the main series games are for handheld consoles.

Speaking of which, I uh... Well. This RP is almost a year old. Which is awesome, and I wanna keep it going, but... I'm not sure if the Guild will allow for that.

I wanted to mention this while I had the chance: I'm seriously considering migrating to another site (ideally Iwaku) if the Guild does not improve soon. While I want to have faith that Mahz will get around to fixing some things before the end of the holiday season, the site's downtime is so bad that it's down about 23 hours of the day. If Mahz doesn't do anything, it'll only get worse with time, and I'm really sick of his empty promises. I'm worried that it'll cause this RP, along with all my others, to die. And honestly if I could save just one, I would pick this one. I won't try to pack everything up if you guys don't want to, but I feel it's important to bring this issue up.

Thoughts on the subject?

I would be fine with moving the roleplay to a different site. Until the Guild gets better at least, cause I like the community on here which is why I'm so stubborn about leaving.

Honestly, I'm getting pretty bummed by the fact that RPG is down more often than not too. If moving to Iwaku means I don't have to wait several hours until I can post again/read previous posts so that I can think of a reaction, then I'm all for it.

(Also, the offer in my previous post still stands. I'm not going to use those keys, so I might as well give them away to someone who might like the games.)

Should we just try to transfer everything over exactly as is and pick up exactly where we left off... or should it be a slight re-boot? Sort of like what I did with this version of the RP after the original "Welcome to the Guild" went down thanks to Guildfall? (This would also give me a chance to come up with a new, creative title and use the continued destruction of RPG as a plot point... hmm...)

Edit: It would also help fix some of the weird stagnation we currently have, I think, and get some fresh blood in the thing, if any new members are willing to read the weird and now complex backstory behind this thing (hehe).

Yeah, I saw. I'm fairly certain it was in reference to my past work as a WOTM manager. Myself and the rest of the WOTM crew had been trying to get a new contest running for so long, but couldn't because we needed a contest forum and, preferably, a managerial account with limited mod abilities like we had on the old site. We asked Mahz for these things several times. He said he would get them for us. That didn't happen. *sigh* And then the other two managers packed up and moved to Iwaku for good without ever properly telling me...

But thank you for reminding me to add that to the list of times I was mentioned on the Guild news. Because I am extremely self-absorbed and I do keep lists of that sort of thing.

Most parents today don't really know much about video games.
It's not going to be until another 10-15 years where a decent portion of parents are game knowledgeable (but even then, a lot of the parents are going to be your preppy and jock type people from school. It's a risk, I'll admit it.
But there's little that can happen other than "The Cartridge doesn't work".
I bought both Kotor 2 and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance on Ebay before when I was younger, both work completely fine.
So although a risk, it's a small one (Cause user reviews of the seller is a thing) and one that never happened to me personally.

Hell I know people who use Ebay and Amazon like their go-to shopping malls.

I agree completely.
And being perfectly honest? I might have left the Guild by now if not for this RP.

I mean honestly, spam is dead, OT is dead, member longue has always been blog central, and RP discussion purposely dismisses/looks down on people concerned about the site.

Plus, my attempts on the facebook group to draw attention to it has basically gotten the "If you're not happy with the situation and Mahz's way of handling it you can leave" response.
More than enough to make me go "Screw this" and go, if I didn't feel like I was abandoning people/a commitment by doing so.

That and being perfectly honestly, you and MDK the only friends I have on the Guild who hasn't already quit/vanished in response to Guilds situation.

Eh... My sleep schedules all over the place so I've been trying to get on at all 24 hours of the clock at some point.
And I can say personally that the odds of the site being up are totally luck based, there doesn't seem to be a 'lucky' time to post at.

It's not helpful that Mahz has only ever posted one update, weeks ago simply going "working on it".
Especially considering his reputation to promise stuff and then never fulfill it. Like your WOTM issue, when MDK gathered me and others to try to make another kind of contest we were also stopped in our tracks because Mahz never made the new section like he promised.

This issue has persisted for years.
I defened Mahz when the Old Guild crashed, cause that was the businesses fault and not his.
But I'm not going to defend Mahz this time, I might have if he was in a bad situation IRL and kepted us at least somewhat informed as to that he's busy and what the issues are.

But considering he's basically maintained radio silence, expecting other admins and mods to defend him with claims of 'IRL stuff' without any details as to anything either on the Guild side or IRL side. And then the only actual insight we get had to be leaked from a private IRC chat because he's so lip tight about the issue? It's no surprise the site is falling apart and people are leaving. And the admins and mods getting defensive and hostile towards those left and concerned about the trend is not helping matters.

Also, found this on the Guild's facebook group (which is more active than ever now with the Guild problems) and felt it related to our group specifically well. :P
