Name: Miles Hall
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Inventory: Five-seveN with a torch attachment (some basic training with guns), radio headset
Race: Human
Bio: Miles was given up to an orphanage, after the day his mother and father were killed in a car crash. He had no other family nor relatives, so he was to be given up for adoption. Despite this, Miles was always quite jumpy and enthusiastic, always trying to make light of his status as an orphan. For many years, Miles would wish other children good luck on adoption, and often enjoyed life to its fullest even in an orphanage.
However, as the years went by, Miles realised he was quite lonely. While he seemed fun and outgoing, on the inside he was alone and sad. His brief friends would always be adopted and would bid him farewell, while he would stick around in the orphanage for a long time. All too often, he would find himself in a situation where friends could help him - but, he never really had friends. Eventually, he stopped being so happy, resigning himself to his room in the orphanage.
Though his personality eventually changed, he still managed to receive an education and left the orphanage. For about a year, he was reduced to living on the streets, unsure of what to do in life while living off a limited amount of money and donations. Miles would often get into street fights just to defend himself and get any money, a stark contrast to what he formerly was as a child. After being subdued during a fight in an abandoned building, Miles had an epiphany: if he was to continue his current lifestyle, he would probably die within the next year or so, and would achieve nothing in his life. Beaten down and under the threat of being finished off, Miles reasoned with his attacker, trying to find common ground they could relate to - it worked, with Miles' attacker letting him live as he was one of the children at his orphanage, also not adopted and left to fend for themselves. Crazily enough, the two eventually became friends, with Miles forgiving his attacker Davis. It was then his personality changed back for the better, becoming his fun-loving old self.
Not willing to continue living homeless, Miles sought out to find a job, volunteering at his old orphanage's charity event. He ended up being surrounded by orphans like him, to which he gave advice to and taught them life concepts. Miles was offered to stay at the orphanage, to live there at least until able to find a residency. Of course, he gladly accepted, finding another job at a drycleaner nearby to be able to make a living for himself and his roommate Davis, who had also found a job as a waiter.
Deciding there was more to life than his current lifestyle, Miles eventually signed up for helicopter lessons, intending on becoming a pilot for an air ambulance. Davis had already moved on and started a family, living in a new house just down the street, causing Miles to envy him somewhat. After months of training and job searching, Miles was able to find a job as an air ambulance pilot at a nearby hospital, leaving his old room behind for a new apartment closer to the hospital.
Miles was initially unnoticed and treated as if he was just another pilot. However, his unique style of flying gave way to a reputation (and almost got him fired), leading him from the hospital to an airshow. While he nearly crashed several times, this only solidified his reputation as a helicopter pilot. Though, he was frightened by the experience, taking a break from flying for several months.
However, by the time he returned to work, many things had happened - the world was at war with an enemy in the sky, invading and laying siege to many cities around the world. Miles was taken on by surprise, having to deal with a tremendous spike in patient numbers to bring to the hospital. This not only included civilians, but also soldiers and other military personal at the frontline of the war.
Miles was initially calm about the war, though surprised at the current situation. He was shot down several times, though he survived all events with varying injuries - one event left him with a fractured shin and nearly caused severe blood loss. Unfortunately, Miles was not able to ignore the severity of the war. An offensive by the Mimiga was repelled, though causing a Pyrrhic victory; half the city was destroyed, and many people were killed. Including Davis, leaving behind a wife and two daughters. Upon hearing news of this, Miles swore vengeance on the figure capable of such evil, only known as the Doctor.
Miles left the city with Davis' remaining family, as well as countless other refugees and military personal once the city was clearly at this point destroyed and lost. Leaving them at a fort, Miles left his position as an air ambulance pilot, instead intent on working for the military as a helicopter pilot. The fort held steady as Miles relayed supplies from its supply network to the island in a Chinook helicopter. But that wasn't enough - Miles had applied as a pilot for a gunship, notably a Bell UH-1 with armaments. Sure enough, he was at this point responsible for dropping off military personal and providing aerial support against Mimigas and other creatures. This did not come without difficulties, however - he was nearly shot down by not only hidden missile defenses on the island, but creatures and mechanical beings in the sky. This, and the fact the man he was looking for was well above his possible altitude. He wished for revenge for his friend Davis, though at this point it was apparent he wouldn't be able to do it by himself.
So, instead, he was intent on following others to find the Doctor, and end his operations for the sake of everyone. Including Davis. A quick patrol of the island would reveal a chance for this to happen, looking down and noting a group of people prepared to fight as well.
Appearance: Somewhat cocky and seemingly unreliable. Miles has a slightly thick build but short build, with hazel eyes, straight black hair and tanned skin from obvious exposure to the sun as a pilot, and possible Hispanic descent. He wears a typical USAF uniform with green camouflage, which has slight notches in several places from attempts to escape attacking enemies in the sky. He has a black gun holster complete with a pistol on the right of his legs, as well as an insignia embroiled on his shoulder, originally given to him by an orphan - it has the appearance of a light blue cloud with a red, blue and yellow-stripped lightning bolt striking from it. Many people often comment on how it comes from popular culture and a TV show, belonging to a specific character with flight abilities similar to his. He also carries two pens of little use in his left breast pocket, the red and blue caps sticking out. Miles also wears a headset used to communicate while in a helicopter, though outside of one it's used more as a helmet to protect against anything. He also has some tank boots of green camouflage, and also wears a sports watch on his left wrist. He usually doesn't bother with body armour, though it is required in his line of work as an aggressive helicopter pilot - so, he has a green camo Kevlar bullet-resistant vest to wear on his chest. Due to lack of strength and endurance training, he cannot wear full body armour, instead focusing on his chest.
Other: I'm sorry, what bullsh- someone actually used a diamond ring to escape a coffin, and called the police on her husband who buried her alive. True story.
Starting location: Flying over the Outer Wall.
