AcadeMMO (aca-dem-mo), which stands for the Academy of Magic, Martial, and Other arts, is an RP that takes place in the near future of our Earth. However, a failed experiment has caused significant change. Rifts to an alternate world called Excaledvol have been opened, and fantasy monsters thought to be myth have begun to cross over. Normal weapons and regular human strength are useless against them, but Excaledvol also provided Humanity a new weapon: Magic. Magic energy poured through the rifts and saturated Earth's atmosphere, and 10% of the new generations of humans have developed natural magic abilities. The Academy was founded to train these individuals, as well as to train those who would support and protect them. Casting spells in this RP will often take time and a great deal of energy, leaving the caster vulnerable, so in order to defend them from monsters while they use their powers other warriors use specially developed weapons and abilities. Thus the academy divides its students into two major categories, Magic and Martial, which are further divided into Classes, similar to many RPG games. Once players choose their class, they won't have many opportunities to change it. Players do have some freedom with what kind of Spells or Skills they create and use, but their Class determines what kinds of things I would like them to base their abilities on. However, I think I've got enough Classes planned out that there is something for everyone. Another aspect of this RP will be a simplified stat system. You don't have to roll dice or do any math, but the stats are meant to help with comparisons between players and enemies so that competition and other fights are more fair and go along more smoothly and quickly. For example, even if you can think of a way to dodge everything your opponent throws at you, it wouldn't be really fair if your Evasion skill was a lot lower than theirs, would it? Don't worry, though, I don't plan on letting characters be killed. Plot will mostly consist of character interaction, training, and going on Special Assignments, which are like quests or missions given by the Academy. It ranges from gathering materials to make weapons and equipment, to exploring dangerous areas of Excaledvol, to defeating monsters. Players will compete with each other and cooperate in parties depending on the mission, and through that they'll grow stronger. Hopefully that's not too much to read but explains enough to be interesting. If I can get at least 4 people who are interested, I'll get a character sheet up and explain some more information if necessary. I'll also do my best to answer any questions, so feel free to make comments!

I don't know, but this sounds good, and i've had a character i've been itching to use. Is there any way to pull off a physically disabled character who uses magic to get around or no?

@Water Akira: It's perfectly alright! @BlueAngel: That'd probably work fine depending on how extreme their disability was. Something like gravity magic, wind magic, or even a summoned creature could serve as transport. Could you go into a bit more detail about the character? That makes 3 out of 4, so if we can get another person interested I'll put up some more information and a character sheet!

In particular i was thinking something along the lines of paraplegic maybe a severe muscle disorder if proffered. Originaly she was concepted as a pure "enchanter." type character. She could etiher use a scarf or a staff to get around, though in concept she used a scarf that acted as a familar for her.The direct term for what she does is auramancy, but she uses it on a mostly physical level. She could be younger then the rest if you like. Her specialties would be summoning, and enhancing others/objects. Personality of a nerd. is is especially cool because the character could be really young, and because of the odd nature of the world not having much magic. She could be actually experimenting at her age, and it wouldn't all be textbook stuff. though there would be a general guide. To give you a rough feel off how i think enchanting should work it is the use of magic to make something have it's own magical proprities. Something like a primative magic capability of it's own per say. If it's against your game I can make another character.

Welcome, Diggerton! @Blue Angel: Using those two different types of magic wouldn't really work under this class system, as enchanted objects, while they exist, aren't the domain of any of the classes. Summoning would be fine, but it exists as a separate class, meaning that it's the only form of magic that class uses. That character would still work, though, in my opinion, and I'd be fine with helping you retweak it if you'd like. If anyone else is interested in this, you can join at any time! There would, obviously, be tons of students at the Academy, so it'd make perfect sense if new ones were introduced throughout the RP! Here is a summary of Classes, Skills, and Spells. More detailed info can be found in [This Google Document.](https://docs.google.com/document/d/16N68JyD_ZMHDT4Th3JfnsQ1njsZ5vt5FMLLwbipB2B8/edit?usp=sharing) I recommend using the ctrl+f function to move through the sections more quickly, as if you're only interested in the Martial Classes you may not care much about reading through the Magic, and vice versa. Classes: The Knight is a Martial Class that focuses on the use of close range weapons like swords, spears, polearms, etc. They're known for having strong direct attack power. The Adept is a Magic Class that uses basic elemental magic; Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Ice, Lightning, Light, Dark, Gravity, Void, Metal, Wood, so on and so forth. They specialize in magic with wide areas of effect and good offensive abilities, but their casting can be complex and leave them vulnerable. The Shade is a Martial Class meant for espionage, sneak attacks, scouting, etc. They're faster than knights but not as strong. The Binder is a Magic Class that uses seals, barriers, and other defensive magics to pin down an enemy or block attacks on allies. In one on one fights they can use a little offensive power by creatively using their restraints, but otherwise they're more suited to support. The Sniper uses ranged weapons like guns and bows, and takes careful aim at an enemy from range before firing. Like magic users they're weaker in close range and their attacks often take time to charge, but they have much longer range than most magic users and if their shot hits, it does a lot of damage at once. The Cleric uses a combination of healing magic and enhancement/buffing magic on their allies, while using weakening/debuffing magic on enemies. They're the only class with zero offensive ability in most cases, but without them the casualties would be through the roof. Strikers are a Martial Class that uses their own body as a weapon, with things like martial arts and grappling. They share a few qualities with both Knights and Shades, and sometimes have self-healing abilities, but they're not as powerful in any one category. Summoners are a Magic Class that, rather than casting spells themselves, form contracts with monsters and summon them to fight in their place. Different monsters have different abilities, but summoning tends to have a higher energy cost than other magics. Spells are exactly that, magical spells used by Magic Classes. You can create your own spells, but try to follow the format of whatever class you choose (for instance, Binders don't have healing abilities.) When describing a spell, it's a good idea to include its element, range, what it's designed to do, things like that. Skills are similar to spells, but used by Martial Classes. Over time, magic has seeped into their bodies from their equipment, and while they can't cast spells, it's made them strong enough to use these special techniques. These are often self-buffs that increase strength or speed, special weapon techniques unique to their fighting style, adding a special status or element to their weapon, so on and so forth. Again, there is more detail, along with a Character Sheet, in the Google Document. I will also post the Character Sheet form in the character tab of the main topic. Because stats are probably going to be the most complex part of this, I want to make sure everyone understands what we've got before I start explaining those. Are there any questions or concerns so far?

@BlueAngel: I don't think the idea's stupid at all, don't feel discouraged! If you'd still like to use that character idea, we could bounce ideas around and I'm sure we could come up with something. @Water Akira: Thanks, I was a bit worried the CS might seem too long or complicated. I look forward to seeing your character! I'll wait a little longer to give people a chance to ask any questions, then start the RP topic.

**Name:**Joe Louis **Age:** (I have no idea yet. I'll probable pick after everyone did theirs and just blend in with the background) **Gender:**Male **Themesong:** [Rakim - Follow the leader](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95gP3m-uBHA) **Class:** Striker **Appearance:** (I´ll get back to this.) **History: ** Joe Louis was born as a normal guy that just happened to like boxing. This interest drew him into other martial arts like Dutch Kickboxing, wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. There was nothing really off about him or something special that might have happened in his life to motivate him to join the academy. He just really happened to like fighting and thought fighting against demons were cool. Lucky for him, he was born with the innate talent for chi and hand to hand martial arts, particularly stand up. **Statistics: ** Level - 1 HP - 10 (100) MP - 10 (100) (Is this Chi or?) Attack - 15 Magic - 10 Speed - 15 Accuracy - 15 Defense - 10 Evasion - 5 Resistance - 10 **Spells/Skills:** **Spell/Skill Name [2]-** Brown Bomber **Description of Ability:** Joe strings a simple four punches combo together from the four basic punches but enhances the speed the greatly and is able to perform it twice (because leveled up) in the same time it would take to perform one normal punch of this. It doesn't increase strength however. (Command: It's over, you know that, right?) Consumes 20 MP every time. **Spell/Skill Name [1]- **Boxing footwork. **Description of Ability:** Joe pushes off his leg and uses chi to increase the speed of the step, can be used to get closer to an enemy or for evasion purposes. (Step)

@Strawberries: Thank you! Welcome to the RP! @NoBrain: So far so good, pre-emptive approval! A few formatting changes could be made, though it's not a big deal and can be done at your convenience. MP is magic/mana points, like in most games, with the idea being that even though they don't use magic, the equipment that Martial Classes are exposed to causes the energy to seep into their bodies and let them use "lesser magic" of a sort for their Skills. The "chi" thing for Strikers isn't like DBZ or Naruto, but simply a reflection of that magic energy within them. The main topic is up now, along with a character form and my own character to help as an example. Here's the link: [AcadeMMO: First Semester](http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/75526/posts/ic)
