Oh how his muscles ached. Black, thin leathered boots tapped their way up the seemingly endless staircase. They did not feel like his own- they struck out before him but he did not feel his feet come into contact with the stone steps. His ribcage and chest burned with the effort as he wound and wound his way up, up so high that the air was slow to fill his lungs. Above he heard the clear echo of voices. One was thin and high, rising in a tone of distress. The blood pumping through his ears and mouth and eyes made it difficult to concentrate, though. In fact they throbbed so badly that he felt as if they would burst out and off of his head. Suddenly the soft halo glow of a doorway came in to view and he gave a gasp of relief. He slowed to an almost crawling pace- as he tried in vain to catch his breath. Leaning against the slick stone wall he panted, the bile at the back of his throat threatening an escape. Through the doorway he could hear them now, the voices from before. One was clearly the Oracle, who spoke little and replied after long, thoughtful pauses. The other, however, he could not recognize. It was a low voice, craggily and prone to bursts of sudden excitement, which reverberated off of the walls in the Oracle's study.

This voice spoke now, impatiently repeating something said before,
"What do your eyes say about the war, seer."
Agh, politics. The messenger, for that was his job, smoothed out his travel cloak before he pushed open the old door to the study.

The soft glow of candles dimly lit the room up, bathing everything in a warm embrace of light. Like most studies it was filled with books which towered in stacks or in bookcases that touched the ceiling- however all similarities stopped here. A window filling a whole wall opposite the door commanded his attention, for as if framed like a painting there loomed the Hourglass. Like a warped moon it cast its own golden light upon the window and peered in on the study as if interested in the conversation. The whole setting would have been pleasant, almost romantic- had there not been such a horrid stench in the air.

The messenger had to shield his nose, stepping back wearily as he looked about, his attempted greeting dying on his lips. The Oracle, a hunchbacked fellow, sat on an array of mats and cushions before the window, and stared out at the hourglass as if lost in thought. Something, and judging from the sound it was a glass orb filled with some liquid, was rolling back and forth on the floor in front of him. Standing between them but closer to the door was a tall, severe looking official, clothed in notably choice attire. Rich, soft fabrics cascaded down about his shoulders and fit about his body in a way that screamed royalty. Both failed to sense his presence- or at least care that he was there.

The seer wheezed something that they could not hear.
Beyond agitated at this point (the messenger noted that the royal had not been there long, as he still wore his coat, which typically would have caused anyone a great discomfort in the heat of the study) the noble strode across the room as if to strike the old man. As if sensing this the hunched figure turned and at that moment locked eyes with the messenger, leaving the latter rooted to the spot.

Beady yellow eyes peered up from the dark features on the seers face, which were set deep into his leathery skin. His sallow cheeks sunk into his face in clear indication of emaciation. The seers mouth was gritted into a frown that showed all of his jagged yellow teeth, his lips pulled tight above his black gums. Small ape ears sat at the top of his head and twitched as he lifted his arms and stood to face the royal. The noble stopped when he realized that the creature was not human. He was lost for words, in fact, and so seemed to be the oracle. The messenger, sensing that this would probably be his only chance, spoke up,

"Uh-ehhh- Oracle ser? I've a summons for you.. F-from the Palace. And-" he looked about as he spoke, too unnerved by the seers eyes, "-and its quite urgent, it seems. Here i've- I've a letter-" he turned and reached down to pull the letter from his coat pocket. Just then he noticed one of the glass orbs by his feet. It was a deep red, almost solid in color it seemed, and as he focused on it he saw that it was in fact liquid. As he was about to turn away, however, a dark shape inside of the orb pressed itself against the glass. It turned on its side and the messenger almost wretched. An eye peered up at him, veined and bloated but it still maintained its color, blue. He could make out other shapes floating in the orb now but he quickly looked away, not wanting to see it. The messenger shakily held his hand out, the letter crumpled within his fist, he opened his mouth to speak again but the seer suddenly wailed.

Alarmed, the messenger and the royal watched nervously as the creature clawed at its own face, pulling the bags under its eyes down as it stared up at the ceiling. It wailed and then dropped its voice down to a hiss as it began to whisper odd things. From where he stood the messenger could see the Oracles eyes moving rapidly about. Exceedingly uncomfortable as he was the messenger waited for the Oracles manic episode to tamper out- however the royal was tired of waiting. He searched the Oracles face,

"You see something? What do you see- it must pertain to my request yes? That's it, right? Seer? Seer tell me what your vision for tells."
A long pause followed by silence. The seer was completely still as it stared up at the ceiling in horror. The hourglass outside hissed endlessly with dripping sand.

"The children..." He breathed, hands dropping from his face, "heroes.. The heroes.. The ceiling has been breached our walls, our walls have been opened once more. Darkness. Feeling, escaping me. Cold. I'm cold. There is nothing there are no walls or ceilings or floors- the floor... The floor is gone. Where am I. This isn't my home- this isn't under my bed- falling, I'm falling- so fast. Where are they- my friends- where are my hands my hands are not my own I do not see them. I do not see myself. I do not see them. I hear screaming but I do not _see_ them- we are hurdling through the air our clothes are flapping in the wind and I do not _see_ them." The oracles voice had been quiet but had steadily been rising to a scream up until this point, where he suddenly grew quiet again,

"Light... A glow like the moon. Gold sand filling the view- filling the world- we are in the _sky_. My hands are my own again and I see them- I see my friends - but we are still falling and they are still screaming and the earth is eager to greet us. Pain. Sharp and bloody meets us. Earth, charred and flat, slaps our faces cruelly in welcome. I do not feel anything- and then I feel _everything_. I smell blood. I smell blood and I do not know if it is my own. Darkness."

The messenger was afraid and he wanted to go home, he did not understand the Oracles vision but felt that it foretold some sort of destruction. He looked to the royal and saw that he was looking at him, the messenger started in surprise as the noble addressed him,

"You heard him, bat- the heroes are to arrive soon- quick! Go to the palace at once to warn our Lord Satin-"
"B-but-"
"Churlish imbecile! Do not question me! Be off now with your message or I'll rip your wings off." Hissed the noble. The messengers tiny wings, useless things by far, twitched at the threat. He winced and lowered his head, turned and dashed out at once.

"_Churlish imbecile_!" He mocked as he bitterly descended down the steps. I don't get paid enough, he thought, to be threatened by Maire dwellers.

"Perhaps I should have told him that I work for the Dream kingdom." He said aloud, although he knew that, as a messenger, he could not take sides and thus his services were technically for those who needed him most. But he was a nasty brute, he thought. A drop of something fell on his coat then and he looked down to inspect it. He blinked at the dark spot of blood and looked up, half expecting a creature or body to be there. At the same time he touched his nose to check- his hand drew back, bloody. Odd, must have been the altitude.

-----
"Daniel... No.." Sighed Sav into her cellphone as she leaned against the kitchen counter in her home. She scratched the back of one leg with her bare foot as she stared out the window into the parking lot outside, daydreaming about what to do once she got back to her room, preferring to concentrate on anything but this conversation.

"Pleeush Savriinaa? Push'im on the phone."
"We're all drunk here, Daniel- and trust me conversation doesn't get anywhere between two drunk people." She lowered her voice here, "And, sweetie, give up. I can see that this whole situation is only hurting you both. Just face it.. Its not going to work out..."
"But we're in luuvuh- we need to- Sav we need to- to get back.. Get back together."
"Go to sleep Daniel. And don't drive. I'm not passing your message along... Take care of yourself." And she hung up.

"Harsh." Chuckled her brother as he opened the fridge to pull out a pack of beers he'd been cooling. He was dressed to go out and was probably planning on doing so,
"An ex?" He asked, kicking the fridge door closed.
"Mitchell's.." She replied, taking one of the beers and opening it. He was three years older and about four inches taller, but had their mothers gentle eyes, which looked unimpressed as he went on,

"When you said 'party' I understood '40 to 50 people" and "just some close friends" to not actually be just your close friends."
Sav shrugged,
"I didn't want to bother cleaning up tomorrow- plus my friends can throw a pretty wild party just us 8. Hell, three can be considered a party."
Her brother chuckled as he waddled toward the door with the beer,
"Heh. Yeah. Three sure is a party."

"You're gross. Make sure, Malcolm-" he looked up at her then, knowing that when she used his given name that she was serious,"- that someone _sober_ drives you home. And if not then just sleep there.." He simply smiled and continued to waddle out the door. She hated it when he didn't promise her.. But she wouldn't give him shit for it tonight. Not tonight when she felt so strange.

Savrina Casablanca headed toward her room, where her friends already sat, drinking and telling stories or playing games or whatever. She lived in a small apartment downtown only a few blocks away from her university. Her brother, who'd graduated a year before her, lived on the other side of town and so visited her often. He was the only family she had close by- since her parents had moved back to the Philippines to help aid the effort to rebuild their hometown there. It'd been a few months and she missed them dearly but found solace in the company of her friends. Just her friends, which she hoped it would stay as and she narrowed her eyes suspiciously. Someone was bound to have invited more people- she liked small gatherings and they knew this- but that never stopped them.

She sat down on her bed and began to tie up her hair,
"Ugh shit I left my beer in the kitchen." She groaned as she stood and stomped out into the kitchen once more to retrieve her drink,

"Anyone want anything while i'm here?" She called as she rummaged through a cabinet for some crackers.

Myles extended his legs along Savrina's bed, comfortably stretching out. His freckled arms reached over his head, and he let out a sigh. It was good they all got together like this, they hadn't in a long time... now that he thought of it, it had probably been a year. He felt so out of touch with them all of a sudden, and appreciated the effort Sav took to bring them all together. _Though some weren't invited._ He glanced at Mitch's sister, presuming their similar personalities would no doubt clash. He would give her the benefit of the doubt nonetheless, Mitch was a good guy. Myles reached over to Sav's night-table, taking a swing of his beer. He gulped it down, afterwards burping contentedly. Noting his lack of manners he put on a sheepish grin, then took another solid swig, draining the bottle. It slipped out of his hand and flanked onto the floor, before spinning in a circle. He awkwardly tried to grab it still on his back, but soon gave up with a groan of annoyance. His blue eyes wandered to the window, distracted by the outside. It was dark out, but the screams of children were clearly audible. It was Halloween night, and who wouldn't want to stay up past bedtime to horde some candy and dress up? He chuckled at the thought, somewhat reminiscent of those days back in his own childhood. For now, he would zone in to what his friends were saying. Though such an immature game, truth or dare was suddenly getting intense. He heard Sav in the next room, her voice quiet, muffled and serious. He could only guess who she was talking to, but he didn't really want to know or confirm it. Wasn't his business. Moments later, Sav walked in, and Myles adjusted on the bed to allow her some space and draped both his arms over her shoulders, with his face peeking out behind one of them. He whined when she moved, having forgot her beer. Myles perked up when she offered to grab something for the rest of their group, and he shouted, a little too loudly, "MA, CAN I GET ANOTHER BEER?"

Leaning against Savarina's dresser, one leg drawn up, Mitch let his glass dangle (precariously close to spilling) from his hand, arm resting on his elbow as he listened to the game. Truth or Dare had never been his thing; nor party games in general. Something teenagers used as an excuse to rat on people's crushes. Still though, it could get interesting, especially when dares were going around more often than truths were. Mitch had to smile as he swirled his near-empty glass, ice cubes sliding around with gentle taps. Myles was getting his party on, it seemed, and didn't seem to impressed with Miriam's presence. Ah well. In the nicest way possible, Myles could go screw himself. He'd get over it; hell, the way Mitch saw it, Myles and Miriam would probably get along. It didn't matter, though. Soon enough their host arrived, Myles wasting no time in becoming one of her accessories. Mitch smiled wider, uttering a laugh when Sav brushed him off completely in favour of getting her beer. A dull throb of pain on the left side of his face answered his expression, and he absently brought his free hand up to touch the tender skin. *"Anyone want anything while I'm in here?"* *"MA, CAN I GET ANOTHER BEER?"* "Pfft." Mitch laughed, forgetting his bruise and standing up. Walking to Savarina's bed, he stooped to pick up Myles' empty bottle, gently tapping the man on the head with it and chuckling, "You sure you haven't had enough yet?" After Myles answered, however he may, Mitch grabbed another empty bottle from the floor of Sav's room and ducked under the doorway, calling, "Here, I'll help you!" Once in the kitchen, he put the empty bottles in the sink and helped himself to a refill of pop; he intended to be a driver tonight, for whomever might need it. Glass filled, he leaned against the counter and took a sip, looking at Sav. "So, who was on the phone?" He asked, nonchalantly between sips, eyes focused on the girl searching the cupboard.

Homer had finally excused himself from the game of Truth or Dare. He wasn’t quite sure how he had gotten dragged into it, those kind of games weren’t really his style. He winced when he saw Mitch walk past him going in to the kitchen, the bruise on his friend’s face greatly bothered him. It was odd for Homer to think how close he had become with Mitch over the years. At first he was uncomfortable around him, being raised in a homophobic home tends to have that effect on people. But after he got to know Mitch he stopped caring what his aunt how told him about “those people”, Mitch was a great guy and one of his best friends and seeing him hurt really upset him. Homer finished his bottle of water and walked into the kitchen as well. While Mitch was putting some bottles in the sink and Savarina was looking through the cupboard, Homer wrapped some ice in a dishtowel and handed it to Mitch who was talking to Sav. “Here, that looks pretty bad. Are you alright?”

Mercy chugged down a tall glass of vodka in one gulp. And she breath out trying to rid her throat of the burning sensation of drinking vodka straight of the bottle. "Ha! I won that dare!" She said in a booming voice, sounding a bit buzzed. "I'm going now before I win all the bets." She said confidently with a wink, her steps were clumsy but she could still think clearly, somewhat anyways. She wanted to see her friends again, and she came willingly even if she avoids parties due to it not being her thing but she still came only to have fun for one night and get her mind off school work for a night. She came to this party with one of her best friends, Abigail. A nice but quite girl. People sometimes wonder how two are such good friends since Mercy is so assertive and loud while Abigail is quiet and well behaved. But she herself wonders too, but it a nice friendship, Mercy is protective of the younger girl, but she hopes she not to over bearing. She arrived to Savrina's room. He only seen Myles who she heard screaming down the hall. She leaned on the door with her light brown hued arms across her chest in a mock serious manner. "Hey Pa, is it just you in here?" She asked Myles.

Abigail cheered as Mercy downed the last of the vodka. She'd been doubtful at first; vodka was a strong drink and the glass was rather big. Part of her hoped that Mercy would refuse the dare, but she knew that her best friend would never do such a thing. Besides, they were all friends here, so it wasn't like she was in danger or anything. Plus, finishing all that in one go was pretty impressive. *"Ha! I won that dare!"* Mercy yelled. *"I'm going now before I win all the bets."* She stumbled off as she said this, and Abigail leaned forward worriedly, but she seemed to be fine. Mercy always looked out for her normally, and she felt like she should return the favour. That was what friends did, right? Since Homer had left earlier, it was Abigail's turn next. Doing a dare might be fun, but truth would be easier... The others were looking at her now, and she quickly made her decision. "I'll do a dare," she said before she could change her mind. She smiled brightly. "So, what've you got for me?"

The Truth or Dare game wasn't going as well as Mimi had hoped. She usually considered herself a queen of ToD, but this was a very different crowd from the people she usually hung out with. Most of the time, at her kinds of parties, Truth or Dare would almost immediately devolve into a series of ridiculous sex acts... Mitch's friends were positively boring, in comparison. Well, okay, maybe that wasn't fair. The dares had been hardcore enough to get most of the group to chicken out, and that had to count for something. _Wow_, that Mercy chick was made of some pretty stern stuff. Mimi had filled that damn glass to the brim! Now it was just her and the young one left, though. What was her name? Abigail, that was it. She wanted a dare, and Mimi had one for her instantly. She had noticed throughout the night how Abigail and Mercy seemed very close; maybe, just _maybe_ they were close enough for something fun to happen, if she pushed it along. For a "party" where everyone was drinking, there hadn't been much in the way of _raunch_ that night... "Well, I think it's time to change that," she thought to herself, with a small, mischievous grin. Stretching out her arm to pull Abigail close, she half-whispered in the girl's ear: _"I dare you to go over there and give Mercy a big, sexy kiss, right on the lips!"_ She couldn't help but giggle. It was childish, but she'd be damned if the whole night went by without _somebody_ doing something sexy to somebody else!

Sav had been juggling a pack of crackers, another of cookies, and a half empty bag of sour candies in her arms when she heard Myles call out to her, **"MA, can I get another beer?"** She awkwardly turned toward the counter and dropped the snacks there, next to her beer, as she turned toward her steadily emptying fridge she called back to him, in mock anger, "Myles I _swear_ if you pass out piss drunk I'll kick you off the bed and leave you there- I won't bother dragging your ass to the couch either." Empty threats, she adored him too much to be serious. Sav opened the fridge and snatched up a beer. The beer was cheap, as it was the only thing she could afford on her current salary, and to make up for it she'd asked the others to bring their own alcohol if they wanted to. She never considered that someone would bring the hard stuff- like the vodka. She didn't know who brought it but by the sound of the game going on in the room over, she was sure Mercy had just downed some. That girl, she thought with a snicker, loved to be the center of the fun. She bearhugged the snacks after tucking Myles' beer under an arm, **"Here, I'll help you!"** Called Mitch as he walked in after her. Oh what a sweetie, she thought as she turned, ready to tell him not to bother. She'd noticed the bruise earlier when he'd first arrived and had been exceedingly sensitive to all of his actions. She knew he wouldn't appreciate her making a big deal of it- but it _bothered_ her. It bothered her so much that she had had to sneak off to the kitchen earlier to calm herself so she wouldn't cry. And that's when Daniel had called. She didn't know how exactly he found out that Mitch was at her place but she never cared to ask him. Instead, once she realized that he was drunk and probably wouldn't remember a word she'd said, she coaxed him off the phone and to forget. Regrettably she'd called him sweetie- upon reflex because she referred to everyone as that- and it vexed her that she hadn't told him off. **"So, who was on the phone?"** Fuuuuuck. Of all the phone calls to ask about, she thought as she nervously clutched at the food in her arms. She smiled, perhaps a little too forcibly, as she desperately tried to think of a vague answer. What would she tell him? She couldn't _lie_ to Mitch- it was Mitch, he knew her too well to buy any sort of lie. She shrugged and laughed nervously, "I don't uh- I don't need help with anything! Thanks for asking~" she stalled just as Homer strode into the room. _"Here, that looks pretty bad. Are you alright?"_ Bless you Homer. Sav took the opportunity to slink past them as Homer caught Mitch's attention. And at once she was stepping through the threshold of her room, brandishing the snacks, "I come with gifts." She announced before handing over the snacks to the only two players left, Abigail and Mitch's sister, just as she caught the word 'sexy' being passed between them. Oh how scandalous. She snatched a cookie before turning to toss Myles his beer- she instantly regretted doing so- because who throws something at a drunk person and expect their hand-eye coordination to be on point?

When Mitch conked him with the bottle he let out a "HhhheeEEEYYYY" and waved his arms erratically, trying to reach Mitch with grabby fingers. "THAT WAS RUDEEE." He slurred and pointed an accusatory finger at Mitch. He scooped up a discarded paper cup on the bed and whipped it at him, but it only floated back towards the ground. Myles huffed and adjusted his genie cap and stuck his tongue out at the door Mitch had exited. Myles impatiently rolled about on Savrina's bed. His legs kicked up in the air and his arms flailed, the sense of shame having left his mind. "MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA." He seemed to screech like a ten year old. His father-like demeanor was all but gone when he succumbed to liquor. When asked by Mercy, the hard smell of vodka on her breath, if he's the only person there. "Naw." He gurgled, pointing gesturing with an exaggerated motion to Abigail and Mimi, Homer having left. He rolled over onto his stomach, resting his elbows on the bed and his chin in his hands. His eyes were wide, foggy from the beer, but awake. A grin was plastered on his face, created by a remark from Mimi. "YEAH, KISSSSS muah muah muah..." With his two hands he squeezed his cheeks together, making a fish/kissy face. He creepily licked his lips together, and in that moment the can of beer flew towards his head. With slowed senses and a bad reaction time already, the can squarely hit him in the face. Myles let out a groan and slipped to the floor face first. He flailed again, not unconscious, just disoriented. "THAT HURT SAV." With two hands he held his bleeding nose, and rocked back and forth, eventually rolling all the way under the bed, screaming a "Fuuuuuuuckkkk!" as he rolled. Not to mention his head hit the bed frame when he did make his way under. Ouch.

Mitch had to spare a glance toward Savarina's room as she meandered with her answer, cheers coming from inside. Had mercy *actually* done the dare? He raised his eyebrows, grinning and shaking his head. Well, there was at least one person in need of a drive home tonight, if she didn't crash there, as Myles almost definitely would. Especially with the state he was in, moaning and groaning like a child. Mitch had to laugh. He had to look back to Sav as she finally answered, smiling just a little too widely with her armful of snacks. **"I don't uh- I don't need help with anything! Thanks for asking~"** Came her awkward response. Mitch was prepared to just take some of the snacks from her, because that was the kind of thing he did, but suddenly a wild Homer appeared, and Sav used the distraction to make her escape. Mitch looked after her, a confused expression clearly displayed on his face. She wasn't one to just brush off a question, and she was obviously nervous. He hoped it wasn't anything serious, or at least something he could help with. *"Hey, that looks pretty bad. Are you alright?"* Homer asked, offering a dishtowel filled with what Mitch figured was ice. Mitch froze for a second, looking down into his drink. Well, he hadn't expected that everyone would just ignore the bruise on his face, but it had been going well enough. He had figured that if he never mentioned it, no one else would either, but within his group of friends, it wasn't a very realistic idea. Putting on a small smile, he patted the shorter man's shoulder, out down his drink and accepted the ice, trying to brush it off as no big deal. "Yeah, I'm fine, it's healing." He said. *Isn't the first time,* he thought. Picking up his drink once more, he pressed the ice gently to his bruise. It was a few days old, past the point where ice would help, but he had to at least act like it helped, in an effort to appease his friend. He was ready to make an excuse to return to the bedroom when one was made for him, in the form of several loud bumping sounds and Myles' subsequent complaints. Looking between Homer and the room, Mitch laughed and nudged him. "I think we're needed," he whispered, making his way to see what happened.

Mitch hesitated for a moment before he set down his drink. He smiled and patted Homer’s shoulder and took the dishtowel from him, meanwhile Sav made a quick exit saying something about not needing any help. _Why do I get the feeling I was just used as a distraction_ Homer thought. **“Yeah, I’m fine, it’s healing.”** Mitch said as he put the ice on the bruise and picked up his drink. Homer looked around awkwardly trying to think of something to say. Mitch wasn’t a very good liar, but did Homer really have the right to call him out on it? He still hadn’t told anyone that his aunt had thrown him out the house, and he wasn’t really planning to do that any time soon. Fortunately, a loud thud and some cursing from Myles gave them both a distraction. **“I think we’re needed.”** Mitch whispered and walked towards Sav’s room to see what happened. Homer followed after his friend, shaking his head. “Can’t we have one party without Myles getting a drunken concussion?” he asked. Homer was still worried about Mitch, the bruise might have been no big deal, but he did know that he and Daniel had broken up recently. And Daniel didn’t have the best temper. “Hey, Mitch you do know you can talk to us though. If something’s bothering you I mean.”

Abigail paled as Miriam whispered in her ear. Kiss Mercy? But she didn't see her in *that* way! And now Myles was making kissy noises, which definitely wasn't helping. Then again, she'd hoped for something fun, hadn't she? Sav entered at that moment and Abigail sighed in relief. She had food; maybe she could prepare herself while the others were distracted. She was tossing snacks to them now, and Abigail was just about to grab a packet of crackers when Sav tossed a beer can at Myles. Before she could call out a warning to him, it hit him square in the face. Just before he slumped to the floor, she glimpsed blood on his nose and her eyes widened. *"THAT HURT SAV"* Myles yelled as he flailed while holding his nose, which caused him to roll all the way under the bed, hitting his head on the bed frame with a loud *thunk*. Abigail winced. That had to hurt. She got on her hands and knees and crawled towards the bed, peering under it. It was nearly pitch-black there; she wasn't sure exactly where he was. "Myles?" She called out. "Are you okay?"

*"Can't we have party without Myles getting a drunken concussion?"* Homer asked. Mitch laughed, gesturing to the room, where commotion was starting to stir. "Do you know who you're talking about?" he chuckled. Homer's next comment made Mitch turn just as he was about to enter the room. He gave a little half smile. "I know, don't worry." It made him feel better that his friend was so concerned, and he didn't intend to keep his bad relationship with Daniel a secret forever (besides, they could probably guess) but he didn't want to ruin the party by making it about him. This was about getting together after a while apart, laughing at Myles, and basically acting like the teenagers they had been so recently before. This in mind, Mitch returned to his spot by the dresser, however didn't sit. Instead, he put his drink and the makeshift ice pack on the dresser and knelt down to try and get a look under the bed from there, since Abigail had taken her spot by the bed. Turning his head almost upside down to look, he couldn't see anything; however, knowing that Myles could probably see him, he laughed and commented, "Smooth move, ladykiller." He had to wonder exactly *how* Myles managed to get under there, but maybe the slightly dented beer can on the floor nearby had a part in it. Either way, Mitch righted himself and sat back against the dresser, looking to Miriam. She looked like she was having too much fun to be up to anything good. He hadn't been able to hear the dare she'd assigned Abigail, but he had a pretty good idea of what it entailed. He didn't mention it, but gave her a mockingly accusatory look, struggling to keep a straight face in the midst of all the ridiculous things going on. What a way to lighten the mood.

As the others stooped to check under the bed to see if Myles was all right, Sav was busy stifling a scream in her hands. _I killed him_, she thought as she remembered the blood, _I smashed his nose up into his brain or something oh my GOD I killed him_. She'd have to call an ambulance or something, right? Right? The others seemed completely alright with what just happened- chalking it up to just another one of Myles' drunken antics and making a joke of the whole situation- but had they seen the _blood_? "Ohmygodohmygodohmygod-" she whispered, completely sobered up at this point from her fear and worry. As the others called out to him and they received no reply she couldn't help but become frantic. Tears sprung to her eyes as she sat down on the bed, she tried to rub them away as she called out to him, "Myles? Myles are you alright?" A part of her half expected him to jump out and laugh at her, to make a joke out of it like he normally would. Her ankles felt so cold all of a sudden, she realized, was there a draft coming in from somewhere? She dropped down beside the bed and looked down into the darkness off it- which was odd since her bed wasn't set up against a wall for it to be that dark. "Myles if this is a _joke_." She said, her voice warbling with another threat of tears. A moth fluttered up past her hand as she reached under to see if she could pull him out. Something touched her back and she poked her head completely under the bed, "My-" Something grabbed her face. In fact- something grabbed her whole head in its palm and dragged her under the bed. Too shocked to scream she was dragged so quickly that all that was left behind were her house slippers- their design similar to that of royal court fool's shoes. Before the others could even react a sort of vacuum affect began to happen in the room- all of them were dragged by some unseen force under the bed, the darkness of which seemed to spread, gapping and groaning as if it were a living thing.

Myles sat, crouched against the dark soil. His knees were drawn up to his chin, and he rocked back and forth incessantly. It had been two hours. His nose was still bleeding, and he had landed on a rock during his fall. A long, dark gash was apparent on his brow to his cheek. If it was just part of his genie getup then maybe he would've found it cool. But it was real. And it hurt. His eye was even swollen shut. The weird thing was, he wasn't cold.. or warm. He couldn't feel anything. It was unnerving. He definitely knew he wasn't anywhere on earth-- at least nothing he's heard about or seen. Especially, well, given there was a _FUCKING FLOATING, SPINNING, GIANT HOURGLASS IN THE SKY._ He shivered, just out of habit, and his blue eye, the working one, narrowed. He could hear something, just faintly... _huuuushh little baby, don't say a woooord.._ Myles visibly stiffened, and his head turned slowly towards the noise. He could make out a group of animalistic figures, but that was it. _mama's gonna buy you a mocking biiirdddd_ Myles hugged himself tighter, eyes nervously shifting away and back again to the figures. He leaned forward, attempting to see them in the light somehow cast by the giant hourglass. _and if that mocking bird don't sinnggggg.._ The song shifted chords dangerously, and Myles decided it would be better if he dragged himself over a gnarled bush. He didn't want to get caught by whoever sung that song. Thankfully, they looked like they hadn't noticed him yet. He sighed with relief, seeing as they were only sheep. Their wool looked so soft, so inviting. Myles absentmindedly outstretched his hand to one that passed by. Surprisingly, it didn't bray in alarm, it only turned to look at him. _mama's gonna kill the damn thing.._ It had a face. It had a _human_ face. Myles surpressed the scream bubbling up in his throat. His hands, scratched and bloodied, clasped over his mouth in horror. His chest heaved, and he felt his heart was going to beat out of his chest. The sheep-- no, it wasn't a sheep. Continued to look at him with a blank, staring expression. It was so eerie, Myles felt tears welling up in his eyes, and his body was wracked with a mangled sob. **"Who's there?"** The singing had stopped abruptly, and the question was met with silence. The owner of the voice, a small girl, shrugged, and tapped her terrifying herd of human-faced-sheep along, and whistled the tune instead. Myles took the chance, crawling from his hiding spot, still heavily breathing. The girl appeared normal, except for her dress which was a twisted version of lil bo peep or something. But that hadn't really bothered him, he noticed his own outfit had also had a dark appearance to it now. All patchwork and darkened colors. "M-miss..." His voice struggled out, a rasp, and the girl let out a surprised "ah!" at his sudden appearance. "Oh my golly gosh! What happened to you mister? You fall from a tree?" The girl was plain, straw-blonde hair, dull brown eyes. Her skin looked pallid, and Myles thought if maybe they had been in a different place she would appear pretty. She nonchalantly stroked one of her wards, a sheep that nuzzled her hand. It still with an indifferent, unblinking expression. Myles pointedly didn't look at them. "Sort of. Do you know where I am? And where my friends are?" The girl let out a shrieking laugh, causing Myles to flinch back. She wiped an invisible tear from her eye. "Ohh that was funny. Pretending you don't know where you are. I'unno about your friends though, fella." She patted the sheep then nudged it along with her staff. "Please.. I.. really don't know. I don't think I'm from around here." The girl's eyes widened. "Gee, you must've hit your head hard falling from a tree. You're in the Maire." Her face softened then, and she looked him up and down. "You know, you don't look so good. How about I bring you back to my place and I'll fix you right up. Okay?" "O-okay.."

Homer was about to go to the bed with the others to drag Myles out, but he paused. It didn’t take three people to get one intoxicated friend out from under a bed, and to be honest they had gotten him out from stranger places before. Homer decided it would be better if he just went to get the first aid kit, but before he could leave he saw Sav being dragged under the bed as well. For a brief moment, Homer thought it was Myles playing a joke on her. That moment ended however, when it felt like the floor gave out and they were all dragged under the bed. After that, Homer wasn’t sure what happened. He was falling, twisting, and tumbling through the air, but it was… wrong somehow. They hadn’t simply fallen through the apartment floor, and everything was black all around them. He could barely make out his friends falling with him. He thought he heard screaming, but he couldn’t even tell if he was doing or if it was the others. Although, if he had to guess he would probably say both. While he was still trying to wrap his head around everything that was happening, he caught a glimpse of the ground while he was flipping through the air. Not a good enough look to tell where he was, but good enough to know that he would hit it soon. _Crap_, he thought. _This is not going to end well_. Then he hit the ground.

Abigail screamed. First Myles had somehow gone missing from under the bed, then Sav got dragged under by *something*... Before she could think of retreating from the bed some kind of black hole force activated and dragged everyone in the room towards it. And then there was nothing beneath her but air and she was falling... For what felt like the first time in her life, she wished there would be water beneath her. An ocean, or a lake, or *something*, just so long as it was deep enough so she wouldn't be smashed against the ground. Even drowning would be better than *that*- No, she couldn't lie to herself. Nothing was worse than drowning and there was no way she'd get out of this alive. Either she'd break every bone in her body or she'd struggle to stay afloat before inevitably sinking under, the air forced out of her lungs as water rushed in... She had just enough time to squeeze her eyes shut and brace herself before hitting the ground.

Mitch's expression fell a bit as Sav started to panic. Did she know something they didn't? Was there some horribly secret thing under her bed that she didn't want Myles finding? In any case, even drunk, it wasn't like Myles to be this cruel. His pranks never lasted any longer than a good joke, and he never went so far as to make anyone panic. A edge to his tone, Mitch called, "C'mon Myles, this stopped being fu-" Sav disappeared beneath the bed. And the rest of the room wasn't far behind. Everything, even the light it seemed, was sucked down after Sav. Mitch was too shocked to scream; he wouldn't have had the breath to anyway. The rushing wind around him as he fell through inky blackness pulled the air away before he had a chance to breathe it, and the horrible suction felt as if it was drawing the air from his nose. He stared around blindly in terror, feeling himself twist in midair, but he had no reference to tell in that direction. Panic welled in his chest as he felt himself spinning. He didn't hear anyone, or anything past the rushing in his ears. Suddenly he heard nothing, and hit the ground.

{Off in some nearby forest away from the others} He sat at the base of one of the largest trees in the wood. Blanket pulled tightly about his narrow shoulders he looked up into its naked branches, annoyance clear in his expression. Scattered about his feet were huge feathers, cut by the sprouts of dark grass, all sporting dark but varied patterns. The usual accompanying fog joined him now, it slunk about his ankles and barely disturbed anything in its path. However now he failed to see anything three feet in front of him, which would be a problem with what he came here for. And so he stood, placed his hand on the tree bark, and called up into its branches, "Sessil and Zambesia?" "Hm? Do you hear that? A-" said Zambesia... Or maybe Sessil. "-voice-" filled in the other. "-yes a voice! Who must it be?" "Or what must it be?" "Oh yes! We should ask it-" "-or them- what they want-" "Or who they want." "Indeed," and now this voice grew louder as it turned its focus down on him, "voice. Are you a what?" "Or are you a who?" "Voice is it a what that you want? "Or a who that you seek?" The boy at the base of the largest tree in the wood rolled his eyes almost to the back of his head. "I am a who and I want to know about other... Who's." The branches quaked, "Ooh! Ooh! The who seeks other who's!" Shrieked one of the birds. "Strayed from your who clan, I see." Observed the other. "Who clam? How strange." "Perhaps a who sham." "Yeah yeah-" cut in the boy before this situation could get anymore out of hand, "Sam I am and all that- I came for a reason now hear me out!" He huffed up at them, his face growing red with agitation. He hated dealing with these birds- they were crazy and couldn't keep a conversation for long. But he tucked his agitation away for the moment, he needed to in order to get the information he came here for. "Not too long ago the sky was-" "Breached!" They interjected with a harsh squawk, "we know. And children fell from it, that we know, too." The boys eyes widened and he clawed at the bark as he stood on his tippy-toes, "So you saw where they fell!" "We saw where they flew!" Cawed one of the birds, outraged it seemed. "Mighty useless their feathers were." Warbled the other. "Point! Point in the direction that they fell!" He cried, desperate to get away from their raving. The branches shook again as the birds fidgeted. He could not exactly see them because of the fog but he could make out their silhouettes. They bobbed and fluffed out their feathers as they whispered to one another for a moment. Then one of them, he could not tell since their voices were so similar, hawked down at him, "Head east!" "I left my compass back home." He stated sarcastically. "East is over there- or under there." Informed the first bird. "Under where?" Asked the other. "No not underwear!" Hissed the first. "Perhaps then underwest-" began the second "Under east or under west or under where- JUST TELL ME YOU CRAZY HAGS." He screamed, sick of pointless talk that only went in circles. The birds fell silent again. The boy tugged at the blanket about his shoulders and huffed angrily for some time. "No darling it isn't underwear- no need to shout." "And how he babbles so!" "Yes! Ranting and raving like mad!" "Surely if only he'd stop his warbling he could listen to our directions." "To where those children fell in the grove!" "Yes the weeping hemlock grove! So impatient-" "And stubborn!" "Apologize you insolent child!" But they sat alone- for the boy with the blanket tied about his shoulders had broken in to a run off toward the hemlock grove. ---- When Savrina Casablanca had come to she did not know where she was. Her head wrung with that same sensation of sitting up after having been hanging upside down for some time. And so she was slow to open her eyes or even move. Her other senses were slow to come to her, too - but she could hear pretty well. She heard the wind, which sounded more like a painful groan than wind, claw its way through the grass and trees around her. Was she in some park? There were no parks in her part of the city. Through her sluggish thoughts she believed for a moment that they had all gone out on a drive and perhaps had stopped in some park or something. She wanted to believe this but it felt wrong. And as she wondered, as feeling began to cut its way through her body, she heard something, somewhere far off. The groaning wind carried with it a weeping voice. you are my sunshine my only sunshine you make me h a p p y when skies are gray It sighed, coming in seemingly from all directions. Savs fingers twitched and pain shot through them, up her arm. Her mother used to sing her that same song when she was a kid.. Oh you don't know dear how much I love thee So please don't take my sunshine away The pain was setting in steady now. Everything hurt- she'd fallen on her right side and her shoulder and head stung like crazy. The voice was nearer now and it belonged to a woman, that much she knew. She had to get up- everything hurt and she'd have rather stayed there but something was wrong- something felt so wrong. With a great effort she shifted on to her back- her right shoulder seared in protest. the other night dear While you were sleeping I thought I held you in my arms The woman was so close now and, if it weren't for her heaving sobs, Sav would've felt comforted. She'd loved this song when she was younger. But this woman was singing it all wrong- she wasn't singing a song of dreams. Sav opened her eyes and looked around- the world swam for a bit before shifting in to focus. A nasty fog was creeping around her and made it hard to see much- but she confirmed that she was in some forest. The trees were bare and their branches were gnarled- but she saw not much else. With a painful gasp she sat up and squinted about. She saw her friends where they lay and for a moment she was so relieved. But the woman was not done. But when I w o k e u p I was mistaken Because you'd Hung Your head And d i e d Something dashed passed some trees near her and disappeared into the fog. Sav found herself struggling to breathe. That's not how the song went- no no not at all. Where was she? What kind of sick joke was this? She was sure someone had played some joke on them- and suddenly she remembered Myles. Her memories flooded back in and clarified the whole situation for her. She scrambled to her hands and knees, "Myles? M-Mitch?" She staggered to her feet and limped to a nearby tree to support herself, her knee felt asleep. Her eyes desperately scanned her friends, "Homer- wake up! Abie?" She hugged the tree and winced, she pulled away and saw that the bark was charred. A forest fire must have passed through here recently. Sav nervously looked around- where were they? The woman had not sung in a while- but were they safe?
