The old necromantic vampire was quite perceptive, having reiterated almost exactly what Mithias had been thinking. "Indeed." Mithias agreed, although a pack of machine-gun wielding Americans was not what he had in mind. "Your gift is astonishing. I am extremely curious." Of course he was. First off, the fact that there existed a supernatural power to summon spirits potentially confirmed the existence of an afterlife, unless those spirits were merely telekinetically manipulated matter in the form of ex-soldiers that Praetor remembered from his past. Could they possibly be true souls??
Mira returned from greeting Heidrich. Before going with her, Mithias said one more thing to Praetor. "Perhaps another time, Praetor, you would see fit to indulge my questions?" Mithias was honest and forthright, but not without sinister purpose. He had never encountered a vampire with a power like Praetor's, and would have completely dismissed all such rumors as fairy tails until now. Images of pirate ship ghost stories came to mind, and Mithias began to wonder. He would need to understand the extent of Praetor's power incase the night came that he ever needed to fight him.
Mithias turned to answer Mira, and the two began to walk away. Mithias folded his arms behind him. "I do not expect you to recognize me by sight, Ms. Kingston, but you will recognize my name. I received a simple letter, signed by you, requesting my presence." They two slowed down as the pieces began to fit together. "Normally I would have dismissed such a thing, but you mentioned certain... skills, that I posess, and then it came to my attention that you head a family of vampires in this city, a city in which of course, I do unfortunately have distant relatives." The two stopped upon entering a large living room, and Mithias faced his host with pointed gaze. "Please forgive my aggressive appearance, but if I am baited into a potential trap with my family threatened, I do so as professionally as possible. ... I am Mithias Varomere. Did you really want my help, or did you not send that letter at all?" Standing not 5 feet away from her, Mithias stood waiting like an annoyed older brother.
Mithias Varomere... He was the one that was said to have no sire, seemingly appearing out of nowhere in the 14th century. It was the name that through years of travel and research was connected to the mysterious disappearances of once-infamous vampire tyrants of the dark ages of eastern Europe. The theorized "vampire hunter" would have to have been also an immortal himself to have lived so long and dispatched so many. He and his name seemed to have vanished in the 16th century, yet he was credited for having played a large role in maintaining the secrecy of the vampire species for that period of history. Was this really him?
