I would be happy (and relieved, really) if someone else were to sign up as an Admiral. I would prefer to share the responsibility because I have been known to slack. Even now I cannot guarantee I will be as reliable as I may need to be. So a dual-Admiralty would be awesome.
I intend to be a admiral with significant affiliations with the One Voice. I got his appearance and personality down, but still very foggy on personality. Than I need to make sure my admiral's ship lives up to its name.

An Admiral with such radical views may be detrimental considering the Royal Navy includes aliens who may not be very happy about being lead by an alien-hating commander. It wouldn't really be good for morale, and may encourage mutiny. Just my two cents.

Makes things more interesting, no? If my admiral's views and treatment provoke a mutiny, that isn't nessecarily a bad thing from a story standpoint. I probably shouldn't have called him a radical since he sees the Shouters as traitors and openly denounces them despite how other members of the party may support them behind his back. His beliefs are if anything probably more conservative on second thought given his loyalty to the crown despite his political affiliations and ultimately wanting the king's power to expand more than replacing the king with an autocrat. All in all, he's moderate as far as One Voice party members go. As for aliens, mind that aliens don't really have much say as is politically anyhow and are a minority in this kingdom. Therefore I imagine a admiral with xenophobic views isn't that terribly unprecedented even if aliens under his command would have low morale.

What I am trying to say is that the Kingdom may not even want to risk putting someone so openly anti-alien in such a position of power. They need to be somewhat discreet by maintaining at the very least the illusion that aliens are cared for by the Kingdom. Maybe if he were less radical, and more just sympathetic to One Voice. If he does have radical views, he'd probably be best keeping them secret. It's better for his career, and for the Kingdom's image.

While I believe that such issues you mention may not totally avert someone with affiliations to the One Voice of becoming an Admiral (since "not recommended" =/= "won't happen"), I decided to cut it anyways since he's probably too into serving the empire to be that political. Although to keep things conflict-y I decided to make his sympathies well known.

I guess whether or not it could happen is up for debate, and I am not trying to come off as any kind of authority in the matter. It's up to Flagg. I'm just sharing my two cents. In my mind, it'd be like a high-ranking KKK member somehow becoming an Admiral in today's America. Needless to say it would not happen.

One Voice is a major political party in the kingdom though. I think Flagg may wanna consider removing the enslave xenos part for One Voice since Shouters already fill the more radical version of their mindset. Mainly since if face is important to the kingdom wouldn't having a major poltiical party that is openly advocating for the enslavement of xenos in the first place make the kingdom look xenophobic and antagonistic even without having a admiral who openly endorses them?

That is a good point. I do agree an official party should probably not be as extreme as the Shouters. At least not publicly.

I am somewhat interested in this concept. If there is room of course. And assuming I can think up a half decent character/ship idea by the time this starts off.

Well I have a few ideas floating around but I was thinking of something carrier based. Most people seem to be going against a hard carrier archtype and I may want to explore that. Sacrifice weapons systems and maybe some defense for just spewing out every king of craft needed. From fighters, to bombers, assault craft and maybe boarding pods/torpedoes Aside from that most of my other ideas are still half baked and being picked apart.

I decided to pretty much re-imagine my character even if his name and appearance are still pretty similar since working out the back story combined with Flagg recommending I start out a captain instead made me decide he's probably better off not a Admiral.

As long as your character is of captain or commodore rank, I'm good. I personally liked the idea of him being a xeno-intolerant Once Voicer, which will add interesting tensions into the RP. But that's up to you.

Flagg, wouldn't Morning have to be an Admiral, or something greater, to be the commander of Epsilon? He's a Commodore right now. Also, as a heads-up to future players - we could use a Rear Admiral.

Hi all, I just added more detail to my characters, so take a look. Suggestions, criticism, etc. are welcome.

My idea was for Commodores to have command of small battlegroups or task forces within the invasion fleet. So he would have like two other cruisers and some escorts under his direct command for independent operations. Same with commodorerobot's character, who is a commodore. I think instead of battlegroup I should use the term squadron- will make the changes. @Inkblood: I've glanced over it and they look good. I will go over them in some more detail now. Per pepper's suggestion, it probly makes sense to make your admiral character a vice-admiral, just so our fleet has a clear chain of command. Chain of command so far, in reverse order: Lt Commander Logan Noctura (Enalais)- member of rho squadron, fighter ace Cpt. Leidof Lutzen (Samebito)- member of tbd Cpt. Gillam Balesko (gorgen)- member of tbd Cpt. Welkin (inkblood)- member of rho squadron Cpt. Crakehall (Flagg/NPC)- member of tbd Commodore Morning (Flagg)- commands epsilon squadron, composition tbd Commodore von Ingram (CommodoreRobot)- commands rho squadron, composition tbd, includes cpt. welkin Commodore Ujarak (zombieaccount)- command tbd Vice-Admiral Neion (inkblood) Admiral Rutherford (pepperm1nt)- commands Second Royal Expeditionary Fleet Grand Duke von Ravenstein (Flagg)- commands Second Royal Expeditionary Combined Taskforce

Just checking in, I'm still totally plugging away on my character sheet but I can't in good conscience submit an unfinished product. Once I get the history good and done I'll put it up.

You said somewhere in this thread that we can customize our ships history and appearance correct? With that in mind is there a major religion of this little empire we are a part of? Or at least a religion with some prominence within it's borders?

Flagg, I changed my mind and have decided to just play one character instead of two. Sorry if I caused an inconvenience with the chain of command, but I don't think I would have time to play more than one character.
