"GLORK! Come to me!" "Yesssss, Dungeonmaster! I hear and ob-" "Glork, I have no time for your theatrics. You have seen the omens?" "Yes, master. The moon grows narrow, and the nights grow shorter. The elves move to protect the treasures of their forests, the dwarves move to claim the great works in their ancestral halls..." "The kings of men have set the notices for brave heroes... This can only mean..." "Indeed... it would seem that tax season is upon us, Dungeonmaster." --- Tax season is no fun for anyone. Large sums of money to be paid to governments, political bribes, bills for standards of living... but it's a lot rougher for the denizens of a dungeon. They are constantly beset by greedy adventurers. If they're lucky, it's ones that can be bribed to go away. But usually adventurers are the type who don't care what they have to slay to get rich. To remedy this, the forces of Evil and Law got together and came up with a brilliant idea- offering cash incentives to Dungeon Lords. After all, they still have expenditures. Those traps, weapons, and treasure chests don't build themselves after all. Plus there's the cost of replacing labor in the event of an adventuring party, feeding the minions, and medical costs. So, the Dungeon Lords are paid to keep a steady influx of loot to grease the wheels of society- everybody wins! That is to say, except you. You're fresh minions, new recruits into the employ of the Dungeonmaster. A mysterious figure, it's rumored that nobody has seen his face except his right-hand goblin, Glork the Minion Master. Most aren't even sure if he's human or something else entirely. But he IS willing to sign your paychecks, and in the current economy, that's the part you care about. --- So yes! A 3.5 game focusing on the unfortunate masses of minions that adventurers plough through in search of riches. I know that level one is boring as sin, so I'm thinking of starting at level 3- you won't be cannon fodder, but you're still near the bottom rung of the dungeon.

Somewhat interested. I like the premise, but the 3.5 rules for level adjustment means that our creature options are limited (unless we're permitted to pursue normal species) - the experience penalty for LA is just too severe, both short and long term. Likely won't be joining, but I'll keep an eye on this.

I have just realized that I never finished putting up the name for this. Oh well!

For future reference, here's a list of races with zero level adjustment.

Considering a (lesser?) drow maybe! She won't be some chaotic good ranger trying to atone for the sins of her race though, so don't worry about that. But we shall see how that turns out. ...If that fails, might just run an orc or goblin with a silly gimmick I guess. Maybe.

Still desperately trying to think of something other than 'Hairy Spider Warlock'.

Psyga, I'm going to have to veto anthropomorphic animals. Most of them are just too good for LA +0, especially the anthropomorphic bat. And I shudder at a druid with +6 wisdom and a fly speed.

I understand. Though, that does leave me curious as to what races out of the list you presented would be acceptable, aside from core ones, of course.

Well, think dungeon minions. Goblinoids, kobolds, drow, orcs, minotaurs, muckdwellers, anything you could see living and working in a dungeon as a career choice.

Alright. Think I know who to play as now. One last question before I get to work: do you allow the Survivor Prestige Class?

I assume you're doing the Commoner 1 entry trick, so I'm fine with Survivor. The one from Savage Species, right?

If there's still room in this, I would be THRILLED to play a Kobold. I love those little bastards. One question though, is there a reason you're using 3.5 over Pathfinder? Most people I know who have played both prefer Pathfinder, so I'm wondering if there was something specific you preferred with 3.5 I'd love to play a Kobold trapper of some sort though. Kobold are good at that anyway, and I quite enjoy inventing bizarre things. I would be good at that.

Well, there is a trapmaking department in the dungeon. Easy enough to have a new hire. Plus, I love kobolds. Psychotic communist dogpeople/lizardmen are always fun. LET THE TAXATION BEGIN TO BEGIN.

I'm guessing we're using point buy for stats, since it's the only way to ensure no cheating. How many points are we starting with?
