I like to listen to music when I write responses to Rps or write in general (as long as it isn't for school, no music can lift my spirits to tackle that crap.). Depending on the theme or situation I'll listen to mood music. Example: Whenever I write about a battle or physical struggle of some sort, I turn on Pandora and switch it to epic soundtracks to get my mind in the right direction. What do you guys listen to when you write? Do you listen to anything at all? What helps you get your writing juices going?

Dream pop and Witchhop. Flying Lotus, Danger Mouse, mostly jazzy stuff you know? I owe like 90% of the things I've written to Charles Mingus.

@Darcs @UltikanaRe I have a Pandora station titled Automachine. It plays the film scores for movies like Oblivion, Inception, and some video scores like Skyrim, and Halo. :) I love epic music. XD

Depends on the genre. Anything fantasy based with fighting I listen to rock, alternative and jrock. Romance I listen to paramore, the neighbourhood, hey ocean. I find the RWBY soundtracks have a mix of sounds that I enjoy. Monstercat artists also uses a variety of sounds which fits the mood.

I listen to a mix of music, but since I usually find myself writing large battles (I mostly do NRPs), I usually listen to something by Sabaton. They're a Swedish power metal band that has written songs about multiple major battles, so it's perfect for the situation. In the rare occasion that what I'm writing doesn't involve a battle, I'll usually listen to something by Thomas Bergersen. There's always something of his that fits the situation.

Music box and/or instrumental music of my favorite songs. Occasional 8 bit versions, but those tend to be too rough for my liking. I'd listen to my favorite songs alone, but the lyrics mess me up when I'm writing or typing, lol. Other than that, music doesn't really have a big influence when I'm focusing (as far as I'm aware, anyway). It just becomes white nose after a while.

Huh, I'll generally have Friends playing in the background minimised, whatever I'm doing (writing or gaming or whatever), rarely listen to music unless I'm walking somewhere, very rarely when writing. When I do I only listen to heavy melodic/folk/foreign metal songs, I hate lyrics that I can understand - ruins music for me. I'm an odd one I guess.

Classical, OST, or anything without words or in a language I don't speak. If I listen to anything else I'll probably get too involved with the words and slow down writing or stop all together. Just some of the stuff I might put while writing. Witcher OST Witcher 2 OST Witcher 3 OST Uncharted 3 OST Allen Toussaint's The Bright Mississippi Misc. collection of Russian Waltzes Vivaldi And then I got this.

Depends on my mood mainly. There's this music streaming service I like called Rdio. You can listen to any song and any album you want without having to deal with the pesky other songs and artists you don't care for. The only pesky thing is the ads, but it's still a good music place. Creative juices lately though is probably Phil Collins. I love his music. It's nice and peaceful. Musical genius is all I can say about him.

This post applies to me as well with one exception; I also enjoy listening to swing and electro-swing when writing. Some suggestions: >Instrumental ->Skeletonbreath ->65daysofstatic ->God is an Astronaut >Electro-Swing ->Some Parov Stelar ->Caravan Palace >OST ->Disgaea (Can never go wrong with a Disgaea OST!)

Endless Legend OST. The game itself was really good and all, but it's entire soundtrack is freakin' gorgeous. If not that, then I'll usually just write to whatever I had already been listening to, which recently has been alot of Flying Lotus, MF DOOM, Busdriver, and occasionally Anathema.

I don't really listen to anything when writing. No music. Just background noises and such. I usually write my posts in the train to school, which is quite a long ride by the way(not too long actually, just an hour and some twenty minutes), plus we can't bring earpieces and such to school, so yeah. Inspirations come as I look around my surroundings, or when I just rack my brains for some. If not, then I'll ask my acquaintances for ideas. Music would likely distract me and I'd hum or sing along, so it's rare that I'd write or do something that needs focus while listening to music. But when my focus on something is high, the sound of any music gets blocked XD. When I do listen to music though, what I listen to quite largely depends on my mood. It's mainly punk rock and such.

something ambient or plain static coming from two sources while there's cold water running in the sink. But the best one is silence.

Usually orchestra pieces from films or individual artists. Recently been listening to the Interstellar OST while writing papers for school and when I work on a story.

Honestly, I can't listen to music while I'm writing stuff. Either I'll tune the music out, or only listen to it and it won't really help. Guess that's just how my mind works. On the other hand, listening to music helps me come up with ideas for things I want to happen in stories, or how to picture scenes I want to write out. But while writing, just doesn't work for me.

I don't listen to music while writing. I'm one to get involved with my music, and that tends to distract me.
