Video Gadgeteer Q2 Spring, 1992 HQs: Medicine Hat, Alberta (CA/US) $149,639,500 (was $123,889,500) --- Janet-R marketed! Janet-R has been marketed worldwide with a string of billboards and TV commercials for a series of "household robots" which can be "controlled using a portable control device called a Game Pocket". The meta-advertisement is accompanied with ads in game magazines and newspapers resembing a newspaper classified section, with an ad labelled "Wanted: Janitors/maids willing to work for no pay 24 hours a day. Call 1-800-555-0123" circled in yellow highlight, with a fake tear that can be turned to see more in-depth info for the game. (-$25,000,000 for 5 large marketing campaigns) --- Gadgeteer Kitten 3D announced! After the disaster that was Gadget Kat Extreme, Video Gadgeteer has decided to return to the tried and true formula for Gadgeteer Kitten 3D. Alpha screenshots for the game, while not actually "3D", show an isometric world with varying heights of platforms. The isometric blocks are much larger than Gadgeteer Kitten himself, in order to make it easier for players to keep from falling off the edges of blocks. @DiamondBlizzard If you need an example of where this has been done IRL, behold Sonic 3D Blast. The formula was poorly implemented in 3D Blast - you had to defeat all enemies to progress which was boring, and the controls were iffy - and the idea simply didn't work for Sonic as it felt slow. However GK3D will have... 1) Slow, usually large, golem-like enemies that are big, easy-to-hit targets. They merely exist as obstacles and you will not have to defeat all of them to complete a level. 2) Extra time will be spent to make the controls properly responsive on the regular controller, and there will be an option to have the control pad responses re-orient so that up is up-left or up-right, and the game will come with a custom controller that resembles the NES Max Controller. The isometric "blocks" used will also be larger so that GK won't fall or be unable to line up properly. 3) Unlike Sonic, Gadgeteer Kitten doesn't emphasize speed but rather exploration and abilities. This makes the isometric platformer level design more suited to the franchise.

Plot

After Hiela befriended Fuega (the only fire she trusts, anything else will make her cry out of fear) and defeated the Dark Angel, just like the Witch did. She found that fairies were being killed and not returning back to life, like all fairies should. It was clear that the cowardly cat, Feca, was stealing the souls of fairies as to use them in gambling matches, she and Fuega have to to try and avenge their comrades (and enemies) and stop the cat! Though, them being fairies they aren't too powerful, and thus have to resort for a certain Witch and/or Shrine Maiden to stop the cat. They are on their hunt as to find them as well as to try and thin down the numbers for them; which explains why there are little to no fairies in their paths. (In Gensokyo II, Fairies only appear in Stage 2) Hiela and Fuega will secretly follow the Witch and the Shrine Maiden as to make sure they are not interrupted by any other of Feca's minions.

Freezing and Melting Mechanics

A mechanic returning from Gensokyo: Fairy Stopper, Fuega and Hiela can fill up their strongest bars up to 500%, it starts at 200%, either of them can melt or freeze the bullets on screen for 100% of their strongest bar. However, Hiela can not freeze Fire danmaku bullets and Hiela can not melt Water danmaku bullets. (But remember, Hiela is the REAL Strongest fairy!) The meter can be increased by collecting Frozen Frogs (+25%) or Flaming Berries (+25%) it depends on who you choose! They aren't rare but they aren't common!

"We're awfully close guys, it seems that the Dragon System COULD become a reality." Alex said, leaning back on his seat with his feet on the table. He was holding a conference with his cheifs of development, also known as his friends.

"But here's the thing, Gensokyo has recieved enough notice so now we HAVE to choose a mascot to represent Draconic Studios....though I'm torn between Hiela and Ako." Alex said once more.

"I personally think Rei Ibuki should be the mascot." Michael said, everyone looking over at him. "Hey, I like her."

"Ice Fairies are stupid, go for Ako." Josh said, whom was looked at by Alex with the evil eye.

"I think Ako should be our mascot, as she is the protagonist of the 'main' Gensokyo games, not Hiela, though she is quite popular..." Shane said.

Sawyer nodded, agreeing with Shane. Alex looked over his friends before nodding in agreement with Sawyer and Shane.

"Well then, Ako Yakami shall be our mascot, representing the Gensokyo series! I just hope Hiela can forgive me." He said with a small smile.

"Here's the thing though, we're concentrating a LOT on the Draco's Gems, so she should be our SECOND mascot." Shane said.

"Yes, but the Draco's Gems hasen't achieved enough popularity yet, though it's growing....for now she HAS to be our first and only mascot." Josh said.

"Even then, we don't know if she'll be our primary or secondary mascot. Oh well, we have time to figure it out." Michael said.

Ako Yakami is now Draconic Studios' mascot! She hails from the Gensokyo franchise! (1/3)

First Mascot: Ako Yakami
Second Mascot: ---
Third Mascot: ---

In a recent outburst by Jake Stevenson, Draconic Studios' CEO himself went out in public to counter his condemnations stating the following, "Gensokyo has ALWAYS had Fairies, and considering the fact that Fairies are normally immortal, you can assume that these fairies are ANY age, and of course they look childish, they're fairies! Keep in mind that while Gensokyo is being condemned for no reason at ALL. If anyone would like a loophole for their coming back to life, Kurai Arashi, the youkai with Boundary Manipulation brung them back to life." Dark Solar Studios Q3 Summer, 1992 HQs: Hanover, Germany (DE) $3,600,000 (was $50,000) --- Legend II: Keeper of the Flames marketed! Across the world, magazine ads and game demos of Legend II have been released worldwide, promoting the upcoming release. Providing glimpses of the opening of the game, people claim to be excited about the addition to the Legend series, a promising new adventure that seeks to outdo that of the original. (-$100,000 for late development and -$3,750,000 for small marketing campaigns) --- The Eden Initiative II and Deepest Abyss announced! Earlier this week, Dark Solar Studios announced that it was working on two new games, The Eden Initiative II and Deepest Abyss. What makes these titles different is that they are being developed for Draconic Studio's upcoming ElderDragon System, a departure from the familiarity of PC games. The Eden Initiative II was stated as being made for the purpose of clearing up confusions in the original game and for developing the back-story which the first game did not reveal. In this way, one can deduce the II is in fact a pre-sequel, or sequel that is actually a prequel. Meanwhile, Deepest Abyss was not talked about much, plans for it being kept a close secret, even from those at Draconic Studios. (-$200,000 for development) --------------------------------------------------------- A letter arrives at Draconic Studios @DiamondBlizzard Draconic Studios, We thank you for your offer and accept the proposition. Development of two games shall proceed immediately as soon as the devkit is sent to us. Let this be the sign of a prosperous friendship. We apologize for not releasing information about Deepest Abyss but we believe that the integrity and originality of the game is best preserved through secrecy. Dark Solar Studios Q4 Fall, 1992 HQs: Hanover, Germany (DE) $250,000 (was $3,600,000) --- Legend II: Keeper of the Flames released Dark Solar Studios presents... Legend II: Keeper of the Flames Topic: Magic, Exploration, Fighting Genre: Action/Adventure Price: $40 Platform: PC Audience: MT(16+) Difficulty: 13-17 Regions: US/CA, UK/IE, EU, Japan, Oceania Features -16 bit graphics -Stereo sound -Three save slots! -Expanded armory: Over 150 weapons and armor to collect! -25 spells to learn -Large world to explore -Puzzle sections -Amazing combat -Updated Legendary System Plot The dimensional tears on Earth closed, whether by your hand or by that of others. Despite their closure, the effects of the intrusion remained. Life on Earth would never again be the same as magic now blanketed many areas, changing the life essence of many. No longer are you the only human with magical powers. Instead, there are others that vie for control of the planet through their own abilities. Following the collapse of the tears, you were left weakened. Without a protector, many areas fell to these new warlords. Initially, your goal will be to combat these villains, driving them out. Towards the end of the story, however, you yourself will be powerful enough to conquer areas. What path will you take at this point: that of a grand savior or vicious warlord? (The Hero dies at the end no matter previous choices. This information was not revealed publicly) Legendary System As in the first game, certain moral choices will influence the way in which your powers manifest, both in function and appearance of attack. However, the Legendary system is no longer a one-way street. Now, all choices will change your powers. Powers do not scale up and down as a result so that an overpowered prioritization can be made. Now, powers will reflect how 'evil' or 'good' you are rather than simply power level. In addition, using a certain ability long enough will cause it to upgrade automatically.
(-$1,000,000 for publishing) --- The Eden Initiative II and Deepest Abyss marketed The Eden Initiative II began marketing in the EU, North America, UK/IE, and Japan earlier this week. Magazine ads and limited demo time provide glimpses into the story. The plot and gameplay is said to be easier than in the first game, making it accessible to more people. (-$3,000,000 for small campaigns) In addition to The Eden Initiative II, Deepest Abyss has also been marketed in the same regions with the same tactics. Posters show only broken cities...under water, along with eldritch monsters. Demo time, while available, was given only under strict confidentiality agreements. (-$3,000,000 for small campaigns) --------------------------------------------------------- Life of One announced Following the beginning of marketing campaigns, Dark Solar announced this new title. It is said that this game will represent a divergence from the traditional combat and exploration-oriented games that have been produced by Dark Solar Studios. As of yet, it will be released on both PC and the EDS, aiming for a wide audience. (-$100,000 development) --------------------------------------------------------- GM Event Following careful deliberation, Dark Solar Studios announced that they would be hosting an event to showcase the different fan film. Some can enter for the enjoyment while others can apply to a contest. The top three entries will receive prize money of $333,333 each in order to continue developing films. Dark Solar will also use this event as a way to receive fan input as to how they would like the series to develop. It has been hinted that such a film festival may become a yearly event. (-$100,000 hosting the event, -$1,000,000 award money)

GM NOTICE! RP PAUSED! @DiamondBlizzard and I need to have a talk about some stuff for the RP and I can't seem to contact him. Until he does, I'm using my authority as Co-GM to pause the RP to minimize the damage he's wrought upon my company. EDIT: It seems @DiamondBlizzard has been doing the calculations in a certain manner; I originally wrote the RP rules some time ago, and intended calculations to be done in a different manner. As such, we have a question to ask the players. @Durandal @NoobCW Should calculations be: 1) The combined total of every marketing campaign? (i.e. if you market 5 large marketing campaigns your total sales get a 250% boost?) This has the disadvantage that players who gain a lead will keep that lead, necessitating "cheap" negative GM events to reduce the ridiculous amount of sales. 2) Set up so each region is treated as a separate release of the game with separate advertizing that pools into a global total. This will reduce the effects of advertizing boosts and remove the need for constant game-balancing via GM events, but will increase the complexity of the RP greatly (especially for the GM). Your input is appreciated! Once both of you have weighed in, the system chosen will begin being used. Until then, the RP is paused until further notice.

I believe it would be better to utilize option 2. While more complex it is fairer without the need for cheap events as you put it.

Something to add, if each region counted as a seperate release, say you got 9? Each region would get 150k sales, leading to an even bigger lead in money. At least, that's how I see it. @MR D12
