The banter between the two Helios agents reached Vivian's ears from a nearby drone as it ceased its firing protocol and left the still-twitching body of a soldier to bleed out. She watched from her hiding place, steeped in shadow, as the soldier reached out for her. He reached for help, but he would find none with her. What could she do except what she was doing? Her luminous, pale blue eyes stared out from the gloom, filled with tears and an expression of pain as she watched the life fade from him. She saw the man, Tyler, clutch the child and chastise his compatriot for the violence that had ensued, and saw the Shadow, 57. She heard his reply and was struck sick to her stomach. 'Surrender', 'unintentional casualties', 'negotiate'. All words that came in too little and too late. Who was there left to negotiate with that was above the rank and file when they were all dead and slaughtered, like animals. As far as she knew, she was the only remaining, living member of some sort of rank, being in a sort of position of influence in the medical wing. Her hands shook, clutching the handgun ever tighter. She wanted to bad to confront them. She burned to act. But to do so would be suicide. She only need to get to the exit and get the hell out of here, maybe hole up in an abandoned building and lay low for a while, maybe contact some fringe forces of the resistance in the mean time. Survival was all that mattered to her at that moment. She moved with a fluidity and grace she didn't know she was capable of as she vaulted her cover and rounded a corner, away from the Helios operatives to circle around and reach an exit as quick as possible. Her spot of inky blackness followed her as she absorbed the ambient photons as she moved, filling her reserves to levels she wasn't even used to. Her veins burned with all this energy, and she felt as if at any moment she could just explode into light and heat, but she forged on, in her little spot of shade. The exit was close, and she would be free and safe if it weren't for one problem. A whole retinue of drones guarded the exit.

Magi staggered backwards as the bullet pierced his chest, entering his lung and exiting out the back. He coughed up a bit of blood, the hole in his lung making it hard to breathe. Placing his palm to his chest he strained to speak. "Sa.." he coughed, getting weaker as the lack of a lung restricted air. "Sana...ret.." he managed to speak, a soft glow coming from around his palm. Slowly the tissue and bones mended theirself. He glared at the man walking away from him, he knew he was too powerful for any lesser spells, he would have to lie in wait untill he exited this place, then he would be able to fight at full power.

Tyler would continue walking, His anger cooling with every word 57 spoke, "Alright...That sounds...good." Tyler started getting closer to his location, "Sorry I started screaming at you buddy...She...She looked like Alissa...I just snapped." He turned the corner to come face to face with 57, "Send out that message...Maybe we can take in some people alive..." Tyler sharpened the blood on his arm into a blade, "And obviously if they aren't up for that...Adults are still fair game." Tyler hardened his heart again, "I can't let these people blind me man...They are terrorists to the peace..."

"I'm relieved to see you're with us on this. Your help will most certainly be required if we're to maintain the peace generated by Helios." Smiling slightly under his suit, 57 had one of his rare emotional moments. The idea of killing his ally had been disturbing, and yet he had known that if Tyler had turned against Helios, it would be his job to prevent Tyler from doing any damage. And the most efficient way to do so, undoubtedly, would be to kill him.

But, such were the duties of one who would keep the peace.

The speakers on the drones throughout the facility switched on, as 57 transmitted his voice through the drones. "I cannot guarantee that they will listen, but this is the best I can do. Now, I believe I saw a mage around here somewhere who made a rather convincing attempt on my life. Shall we question him? He might point us to the alternative exits."

No. No no no. Vivian stared the drones down in stunned silence. She had nowhere to run. Murderers behind her. To her left, to her right and now right in front of her. She had already been locked up in a Helios facility. For too long, she was locked up in isolation. Like a prisoner. For what? Because she was born different. Now it was going to happen again. She noticed that her inky spot of concealing shadow was gone, traded for a violent flare of shifting, celestial light. She told herself to remain calm, to remain under control, but it was no use. Memories of pain and suffering were overriding her ability to keep a lid on it all. Tears streamed from her eyes and she sobbed every now and then, shaking her head and repeating to herself. "No. Not now. Not again. No."

With a shake arm, she retrieved the handgun and raised it to level with one of the drones. It beeped and clicked, sounds becoming violent as she pointed the weapon at it. It made no move. A drone that had cut down so many of the good people she knew without a thought, and it was hesitating with her? It made her grit her teeth and dig her nails into her palm with the anger it brought forth from her. With a quick movement, she fiddled with the safety switch of the handgun and screamed, she remembered to do that much as least. She pulled the trigger.

Click.

Empty.

That is why the drones didn't move. She had been given an empty gun, just for intimidation. And then knew. They scanned her or something. They must have. She didn't even bother holding the gun any longer, just letting it drop to the floor as she fell to her knees. Her arctic blue eyes were puffy and red with tears and she kneeled in a crumpled heap, sobbing like a child.
