Someone almost got one going a while back on another site I used to RP on, but they bailed out at the last minute and it left me feeling blueballed ever since. For those not in the know, Worm is a web serial novel written by Wildbow that's centered around Taylor Hebert, a teenager with a superpower that lets her control bugs. The story follows Taylor as she quickly gets swept up in the chaos and complexities of the 'cape' community of Brockton Bay by joining with a group of villains known as The Undersiders. Cape politics, factions, rivalries, information warfare, and the individual problems of the people beneath the costumes put even the heroes in something of a gray area. Taylor's actions in the midst of this leave her in a situation where she's forced to make some hard choices, facing the reality of having to do the wrong things for the right reasons. For those who haven't read it, I'd highly recommend it, it's great. For those who haven't read it but are interested in this RP, I'd suggest you read up until at least the tenth or twelfth arc of the story, as Extermination (the eighth arc) is where the story really begins to pick up. That, and there will be potential spoilers either in the chat or as the RP unfolds, so be prepared for that. As for everyone else who's read the story and is interested in an RP, the rest is for you. The important thing I wanna get out of the way is that I'm not necessarily interested in being the GM of this RP. Personally, I'd like to avoid it if I can, but I'll certainly do it if I have to. I'm not a big fan of GMing so much as I am of playing, and I feel like any attempt on my part to live up to the kind of plots Wildbow writes would honestly be beyond me. Secondly, the RP will be making use of certain aspects of the Weaver Dice rulebook. This is just something I'm carrying over from the other RP I mentioned, as it seemed to work out pretty well and its integration into the RP was minimally invasive. Thirdly, given the source material, I'm expecting this RP to be somewhere between Casual and Advanced. I don't think there should be any real "minimum required posting", but at the same time I expect a fair amount of depth in terms of plot and character development, as well as regular posting. Fourth, while the format is ultimately up to whoever decides to take the reins and GM this beast, some ideas I had for a premise to the RP that any potential GMs are free to use are that we either form a new supervillain team and attempt to follow in the steps of the Undersiders, or that we instead take the Weaver route and focus on a Wards group post-Scion that's focusing more on integrating teenage supervillains like Taylor. I personally think either of these would be fun (although I prefer the latter), but as I said, the format is up to whoever ultimately decides to GM. Fifth and finally... no, that's pretty much it I think. So is anyone interested?

@Turboshitter Sorry for the delay, but how much Hope are you going to allow in the planned RP?

Bumping again so it doesn't get lost. And what do you mean by Hope, the metaphysical concept or a D&D style stat? Because the RP would more than likely only borrow from Weaver Dice. I don't plan on making this dice-based and sanity meters are a bit arbitrary anyway unless they're literally critical to the gameplay a la Call of Cthulhu.

I'd be very interested in this, though I've never heard of Weaver Dice. Which system is it based off of?

Cool! And it's actually a system Wildbow came up with. I know him on a somewhat personal basis (emphasis on "somewhat", don't quote me on that), so I could ask him if you think it's important or if you just want to know.

Holy shit I thought I was the only one who thought that was nine different kinds of awesome. Consider me interested.

Yep, looked it up. Seems pretty interesting, but I would like to know how you/anyone else are/is planning on integrating it to the roleplay before I start brainstorming anything up. Would creating a character be completely dice based, or would we purely use the stats/disadvantages as a source of inspiration and general guideline?

More than likely a bit of both but probably more of the latter. Like, 70-90% the latter, more likely than not.

@Turboshitter So, how much hope are you going to allow in the RP? That said, though, depression problems may forbid me from playing the RP, should it start, the key word being 'may'.

So hope in the metaphysical sense. Hmmm... that depends. Ultimately Worm is a very dark story, but
we should be within the most relatively happy parts of Worm. Emphasis on relatively since character drama will still be present, injury and death will always remain risks in the cape world, and the Slaughterhouse Nine and Endbringers may or may not drop in for a surprise visit at any moment. But again, relatively speaking? I expect a happy, or at worst bittersweet ending like the story itself.

Haven't read Worm, but TV.Tropes doesn't say the ending was happy.

Like I said, it was more bittersweet. A lot of characters get happy endings, but a lot of characters are dead. The main character herself gets a second chance to be happy, but it comes at quite a price. Saying anything else would ruin the ending. I think you just need to read the story for yourself to understand what I'm talking about.

12-21, since we'll more than likely be playing as either a Wards team or a team of young(er) supervillains. Please note the Wards "graduate" to the Protectorate when they enter college (so around 18), so 21 is more of a hypothetical maximum. Unless you wanna play a normal PRT officer.

@Turboshitter Tell me more about these 'Normal PRT Officers'; I play a lot of young characters, but have since wanted to diversify into adults.

I'm interested. Would we be using Weaver Dice for character creation? Because it has a couple different methods.
