Earth was attacked by aliens. It was a quite simple set-up. Earth seeded with an unique metal that should not naturally occur on planets like Earth. Adamantium - the wonder metal, which revolutionized everything, and propelled humans several centuries forward in an instant. To make the fools build everything themselves, and then swoop in and claim it - that was the plan. But it was foiled. The people in the shadows, the ones called by many names - Illuminati, Freemasons and the like. They didn't call themselves like that, but they did stand against the invaders. Their champions, far surpassing the human limits, finally defeated the invaders and went forth through the gate they arrived, determined to avenge the fallen. Our heroes have left us... Out of 7 billion souls that lived, now no more than 100 million remain. The world is in ruins. Governments, nationality, culture - all of it has long lost meaning. We are the ones left behind on our broken home. But we are rebuilding, and from the ashes of the old a new Earth shall arise, one that will stand the test of time. ------- That's the concept. This RP would be about the broken remnants of humanity trying to rebuild. Naturally, everyone wants to be in charge, so it's not going to be pretty. The heroes left Earth to pursue the aliens that attacked them, seeking retribution. Their "organizations" are either outright wiped out or shattered, without any power of leverage they once held. The heroes showed themselves capable of actual magic, and with time, the survivors noticed that slowly but surely, they are able to use it as well, to a limited extent. Remnants of the invasion still roam the world, as dangerous as ever. Other humans preying on the weak are a great threat as well. Alien tech, or at least shattered fragments of it litter the world, waiting for the smart people to uncover their secrets. This RP would depend heavily on the players, as there is no rigid story set in stone (unlike my other dying RP anyway).

I'm interested :) How prevalent would that magic be? Can everyone use it, or just a few? And just how limited are you thinking?

For the vast majority of survivors, magic is, more or less, in the "whoa I can make a fire in my palm!" stage. As in, they saw the heroes use it, but none of them are exactly sure HOW and WHY it works. It just does. It will gradually develop during the story, but the initial phase for everyone "I have no idea what I'm doing."

This sounds interesting. It's not about actual survival, though, correct? More just about rebuilding what they had before, but they're on stable ground and aren't fearing for their lives, right? I mean, food and water and shelter might not necessarily be easy to come by, but there are no horrible mosnters trying to cleave them open?

Sort of. The worst has passed, it's more about the rebuilding and the ensuing power struggle, as all forms of government were utterly destroyed. There are remnants of the invasion, cybernetic zombies known as Husks, but since their masters are gone, they are now just mindless beasts wandering aimlessly attacking any humans in sight.
