I'm actually taking a sociology class, but all I've learned about Marx in it is his creation of the conflict perspective of sociology

yup, you learn that type of stuff in most sociology classes.

My class in particular is a Sociological theory class- so instead of brushing on the major points of Marx or Smith or the other major theorists, we go in depth into every bit of their being. Its really terrible, I do not suggest taking a class like this.
