You know, reading your post, reminded of something.
Why do all the soldiers in movies yell "I didn't sign up for this shit!", when they clearly signed up for it, as they are in the military.
Also, when they say "I didn't sign up for this!" its usually because they are involved in some situation that is particularly harrowing, gruesome, or something of the like. They're trained to fight other soldiers, yes, not necessarily jumping out of a burning helicopter into a pit full of rocks.
