I've been hosting RPs for a few years, I believe. I rarely participate, as I enjoy showing other people things, and the satisfaction of helping other people have a good time. I've never kicked a player, and I've never been kicked myself. My first slightly successful RP ended with a TPK, and I became quite infamous for the 15 minutes I spent in the limelight. It's easily the most memorable moment of my RPs so far. Sadly, I had managed to gather a few very active, interested players, and had a solid story to tell... Until they were all killed by the most friendly NPC, Amy. It felt only right, however... Let me retell the story:

You've heard rumors of the a plot to assassinate Amy, and one of your old allies talks to one of the people she's sent in order to learn more about the nefarious plot. You overhear him claiming to be behind the plot! What do you do?

Attack the agent and run away.

You struggle to run away, as there are many others in your way.

Attack them too, by shooting at them.

They fire back, and you're quickly peppered by bullets. They start to surround you, and you understand that it's too late to fight back.

Shoot them!

They give some space, and Amy has arrived on the scene! What do you do?

Threaten her life, and try to slit her throat!

She's heavily armored, and the blade becomes dull as it scrapes around the solid polymer collar that covers her neck. You're all thrown to the ground! What do you do?

Shoot them!

I've been thinking about RP as a medium for quite some time, and the thing that makes it a worthwhile medium is that there's an endless wealth to explore, and a good GM helps set the mood to transport you to another place where you can actually get the experience of being a protagonist in a book, where you need to use your wit and strength in order to overcome challenges and learn more about the world you live in. Yet, these people never thought of using anything but violence! Afterwards, I explained to them that they got three chances to choose another option, but every time they fought back. And this sort of "violence is the only option, and everything is a monster of some kind" way of thinking is precisely what I wanted to avoid by starting to RP. And avoiding the one-note, one man army is precisely what I hoped to avoid by starting to RP, as I wanted to participate in a more intellectual type of entertainment that lets me explore other settings and develop relationships in a social setting instead of killing monsters.

Rant over. There are more where that came form, by the way. I'd love to dish up another rant/essay! Because that's also better than waiting for activity.

Oh, well, sorry it ended that way.

The whole story didn't make sense to me though, but maybe I'm just fatigued.

ya i did get kicked out, I miss understood a plot to an RP, and As i was about to go into the OOC section I noticed the GM posted how much of a noob I was. I told him I realized that I messed up and their was no need to be an ass about it. That kinda pushed him over an I got kicked out. I try to be loose on things, But if some one is being an asshole I will point it out.
