Closed to new applicants at this time

War has changed.

The world has changed.

Battles are no longer between nations for political goals, but are fought as proxy wars by corporate funded and sponsored Private Military Contractors, many of which are as well-equipped and trained as National militaries once were.
Politicians are relegated to being mouthpieces for corporations, their parties funded by money from corporate interests. And all the corporations want is the biggest share of peoples time and money, to further increase their control of market interests and profits.

Amidst all of this, the everyday man or woman struggles to raise their family, to survive and thrive in this world driven to a frothing excitement over the next PMC deployment and battle, piped live into their home 24/7 from multiple angles directly from helmet-cam or cyber-eye feeds.
War is everywhere. It is the new sport, the new big blockbuster, the big business opportunity. The new reality-TV thrill.
Bush wars, jungle fights, urban CQB, freezing arctic combat and slogs through blistering deserts all rage on almost every continent, as armed militias, cults, terror groups and insurgents clash with PMC's, corporate security forces and national armed forces.

Old soldiers and those remaining from the 'old world' shake their heads and remember what they'd dedicated themselves to; remember the words of their constitutions and oaths, and think: where did it all go wrong?

In this new world of technology run rampant, where drones monitor overhead with ceaseless watchful eyes as cybernetically enhanced soldiers tangle with power-suited gene-modded warriors, there are still men with rifles and combat gear, who decide the outcome of a fight. A tank shell or a shrapnel splinter can still end a life a definitively as it could twenty years ago.

Underneath all of this, those same old guards and watchful eyes have been drawing a pattern and have realized: there is a plan afoot. Someone is profiting from all of this, and these wars and expansions all have some final goal in mind.
All of it traces back to shadowy individuals, legendary soldiers spoken of in reverential and fear-stricken voices. Men and women with exemplary skills and abilities on the battlefield, each involved with the various PMC's. Collectively, they have fought in many of the defining conflicts of the 20th and 21st century and have become renowned for the skills they showed there.
Collectively, they are feared as the Dead Shadows, a unit of near-mercenary forces. Associated with various national forces and groups throughout the years, nobody knows who they answer to, only that, somehow, they are involved in this changing situation of war, and the corporations behind it.

This council and organization within the apparatus of the United Nations and it's oversight committees, is intent on investigation and drawing a halt to this unmonitored expansion of PMCs and corporate control of the world. To respond, they form their own unit. Gathered from soldiers who are known for their skills, dedication, loyalty and results, they are formed into a Special Operations unit to combat the Dead Shadows and their PMC's, and to uncover the truth of the plan their masters have assembled. Formed to chase away the Dead Shadows, they are a renewing, purifying and cleansing fire, the Blaze Unit.

Reserving a spot. I'll put my character sheet here when I'm done with it.

EDIT:

Character Name: Lawrence "Larry" Charlton

Age: 30

Appearance:

Personality: Larry is a simple man. Someone tells him to shoot something, he will probably do it. However, he is certainly not a stupid man. While he once had a reputation of being a loudmouth, he is a careful planner and always thinks before doing, aside from when speaking. He usually takes a "underling" role in whatever group he is in, mostly due to habit and not due to actual stress. As for likes, he enjoys traveling, contemporary literature, war-movies, spy flicks, general cinema, walking, cooking and technology. Larry is a positive man, and as such he is open to most ideals and things, not especially disliking certain items.

Regarding his outlook on life, Larry, as aforementioned, is a simple man, preferring to look towards the future, keep an eye on the present and not dwell on the past. It is in this way that he doesn't really have an opinion on the changes regarding war, simply adapting to survive in the new world. He does get quite sentimental when it comes to his old team, the Desert Wolves.

History: Lawrence "Larry" Patrick-James Charlton was born to a middle-class United States west coast family when the Cold War was coming to its end. Growing up watching Vietnam War movies, spy flicks and fighter pilot films, his parents were both active duty soldiers in the Marine Corps, his father being a AV-8B Harrier II pilot and his mother as a radio operator, and thus neither spent much time at home. Larry spent most of his evenings staying up late watching aforementioned movies and shows and took an interest at a young age in war. He had a modest school life, not too bad but not very good either. He joined the United States Army shortly after graduation and after a successful basic training he was immediately deployed for the recently started War in Afghanistan.

Shortly after arrival he was assigned to FOB Chapman, however, while en-route, their transport was shot down by a SAM. Fortunately for Larry, he was able to survive the crash with little injuries. However, most of his team was severely injured, leaving only two others to proceed onwards to FOB Chapman. The group soon met a problem in their journey. The two others preferred to leave the four injured in the face of advancing enemies. Larry instead decided to stay with the injured. He managed, despite only possessing limited supplies, to bring one of the four men back on his feet and save both others from blood-loss. The man who he had brought back on his feet was one First Sergeant Jeremy Thompson and this saving of his life would begin a long and close friendship between him and Larry. The pair managed to bring back both injured after a weeks journey on foot, evading Taliban troops and enduring sweltering conditions. Upon return, these actions would award both Distinguished Service Crosses and earn the team all four created together, the Desert Wolves, the Presidential Unit Citation. Jeremy Thompson, a CQC expert, decided to teach Larry the arts of hand to hand combat and the pair trained daily, creating a strong bond between the two.

After a relatively short deployment in Afghanistan, the Desert Wolves were sent to Colombia to take down guerrilla forces. They were met with good success, earning them favor among the higher ups and within a year or two, the Desert Wolves became an official special forces unit, despite only being composed of four men. Their success continued until 2015 when an incident ripped the team apart.

The Desert Wolves had been redeployed to Afghanistan to participate in the killing of a particularly important Taliban leader. The details are unclear, but something happened between their deployment to northern-Afghanistan and Larry's solitary return to Bagram Airfield, haggard, dirty and with a troubled expression. He has refused to reveal the details to this day, but the mission was labeled a failure and the three members of the Desert Wolves, including Larry's close friend, Jeremy Thompson, were put as MIA. Shortly after, Larry was given an honorable discharge and he became a soldier of fortune, travelling the world and fighting for the highest payer. These "adventures" continued up until the present day when he was recruited for the Blaze Unit.

Special Talents or Skills: Larry isn't especially special by himself, except for being a crackshot and being proficient with many types of weapons, armor, survival techniques, CQC styles and even aircraft. A veritable jack of all trades, master of none.

Personal Weapons & Equipment:
-HK416 (5.56x45mm NATO) Carbine (personal favorite, used during the time of the Desert Wolves). Used with a EOTech Holographic Hybrid Sight, foregrip, laser sight and occasional suppresor.
-SIG Pro SP 2022 (9x19mm Parabellum), a gift from a French GIGN operative after Larry aided them in a raid. The story goes that during the raid, Larry's own pistol jammed and he was forced to fight with a knife against a group of five gangsters. Complaining that the jammed pistol was "cheap Chinese crap", he was given the pistol by one of his allies, who had been using it ever since it entered Gendarmerie service in 2002. He continues to use it to this day. Has support for a suppressor and Picatinny rail accessories. Larry also owns a Glock G17 Gen4, though it is practically stock due to not finding much need to customize it.
-KA-BAR combat knife, usually used in tandem with the SIG Pro for close quarters combat, following the principals of CQC.
-SOG SEAL Pup Elite boot knife, used in situations where Larry doesn't have access to his preferred KA-BAR.
-MultiCam ACU, in either Standard, Arid, Tropic, Alpine or Black patterns, depending on mission. Has a Desert Wolves insignia on the right shoulder, USA flag on the left.
-Shemagh scarf, in the same color as his ACU of choice.

Alrighty here it is. New format for the site makes it kinda annoying to do this without preview, so edits will come as needed.

Character Name: Shamus Cotter
Code Name: Lynx
Age: 31
Appearance:
In gear:
Unmaksed
Personality: Since most of his military background was spent serving in a guerilla army, Shamus doesn’t have quite the same discipline as a normally trained soldier would. If someone wants his respect, they have to prove to him that they deserve it, even if they’re a superior officer. He’s not stupid enough to be completely insubordinate, but a person shouldn’t expect him to be completely agreeable with every order given. Shamus likes to run his mouth, whether it be during a fight, during briefing or while being interrogated. He has the gift of gab and he’ll be damned if someone is going to take that away from him.
History: The history of Ireland is a one that long deals with ongoing conflict, yet in the past century there were very few cases of all out warfare. The closest scenario in that case was the troubles in the late 20th century. A great deal of this conflict steams from the Irish Republican Army, or the IRA. Specifically, the IRA has been a name taken by numerous different groups, originally being the military wing of the Sinn Fein, a political party in the early 20th century that wanted independence from Great Britain. The Sinn Fein made great progress, but some in the IRA felt that they were being too compromising with the British, and so the IRA splintered the first time, which certainly would not be the last.

It has been many years since the IRA has been a dominant military force in Ireland, nowadays one of the most recent splinter factions/incarnations mostly sticks to guerilla warfare. Car bombs, hit and run tactics, causing overall trouble and picking small, isolated targets. As a terrorist cell, they could never fight a full-fledged war. They fight for different causes, political freedom, independence, and some of them even greed. Shamus Cotter’s family was apart of one of these groups, and thus so was Shamus. Shamus grew up in public school but in his spare time was trained to be a killer once his parents felt old enough. Eventually as the years passed, however, Shamus found that he didn’t share the same ideals as his family or compatriots. He wanted out, and was eventually presented with an opportunity.

MI6 wanted someone on the inside to take down this particular group of IRA terrorists, so they made Shamus a deal. He gives them the intel they need and they give him a new life. Shamus accepted. With Shamus’ help MI6 took down the terrorist cell, most of them not willing to go quietly. Regardless of their actions, this wouldn’t prevent The Troubles in Ireland years later, but Shamus’ part in the IRA was done.

MI6 held up its part of the bargain, Shamus was given a new life in Britain. Impressed with his skill at the operation, they offered him a new life and job. The assignments were nothing serious at first, but as the years passed and the organization’s trust in him grew, Shamus was given more dangerous and critical assignments. Eventually he was given one that would change his life, one that would discharge him from MI6 to allow him to join a group called the Blaze Unit.
Special Talents or Skills: Shamus is skilled at crafting improvised explosives out of mundane objects. The strength of the bomb depends on what materials he scrounges up to make them. (disclaimer: So the NSA doesn’t put me on a list, I’m not going to be too authentic with this, but I promise I won’t be too ridiculous)
Personal Weapons & Equipment:
Binoculars.
MP5KA1 with suppressor and laser sight.
Heckler and Koch USP with suppressor and laser sight.
Personal Combat Knife
Gas Mask

Character

Name: Roman "Rome" Petrovik

Age: 29

Height: 5' 11"

Weight: 195lbs

Appearance:

Personality: Stubborn, sarcastic, and an asshole would be some things a person would call him if they just met him, but if the stopped for a second and payed attention.... he's still a stubborn, sarcastic asshole. Often making jokes at the absolutely worst time and slacking off whenever he gets the chance, but deep down he is kind hearted and would quickly step in front of a bullet for someone he just met (and likes). He has a deep appreaciation for old things like cars, guns, art, music and traditions. He respects other peoples religions and points of views but will not let them convince him it is the "only" way. He always looks for the option everyone else looks over. Searching for that coinflip that lands on its rim.

History:

Special Talents:
Roman has a rare genetic mutation in which adrenaline rushes can be controlled and sustained without the immeadiate side effects of panic, frenzy, paranoia, and jitters. Its almost as if the world around him slows down to roughly a third of its current speed. Pain is slightly reduced and his sense of awareness is heightned.

Roman is skilled when it comes to vehicles. He can drive anything with wheels, tracks, wings, or Rotors... just don't ask him to drive a boat... he hates boats and boats seem to hate him back.

A good marksman but by far from the best. He's not one to go for "trick shots" when its simply more effective to go for center mass. With the right bullet it shouldn't matter where he shoots as long as it hits his target.

Personal Weapons & Equipment:

Character Name: Michael Nawlin
Age: 26
Appearance: 6’5’’ swimmer build with black crew cut and hazel eyes.
Personality: mike plays the role of a calm and relaxed operator, never let you see him sweat. On the inside however, he’s still the same scared rookie, always paranoid until the fighting starts, then muscle memory and training take over.

History: Mike grew up with a loving family, with a mom and dad they took frequent business trips that left him in the care of his grandfather. Raised to turn the other cheek and follow a moral path, He grew up listening to stories of war, of glory, and triumph over evil, always rooting for the underdog. Overall he grew up a happy, but stubborn child that wouldn’t stand bullying. The preverbal guardian he stepped in to help when others watched.
At age 12 mike stood in the rain, face wet in spite of the myriad off umbrellas over and around him. He stared blankly at the alabaster painted coffins as they were lowered into the muddy pit. With only his grandfather left, he left the city and moved into the forested outskirts. It was then the stories grew worse every passing year. Originally easy wins against an unorganized enemy, the stories slowly twisted into dark, gritty battles where mike had trouble remembering who actually the good guy was, and when he asked, grandpa always said the same question in answer. “Who do you think was right”? At the time, mike would get frustrated, others always told him what to think, it wasn’t until then he realized the problem. He hadn’t needed to think for himself, teachers and adults told him what to think.

A few days later he told grandpa his answer, in most cases neither side was right or wrong, it was an ambiguous grayscale the shifted based on what point you looked at. His grandpa smiled sadly and congratulated him for seeing beyond the veil, and how things weren’t as simple as they were 60 years ago.
Another few years passed, learning valuable, if old skills such as tracking, marksmanship, and keeping blades keen. He was 15 when he sat in the ER under police supervision, shoulder bandaged, nose and right hand broken. The report said he had assaulted Connor, the county sheriffs son near a bar, everyone knew it was bullshit, mike would probably have been dead had he not rolled when he saw the knife. In the end the knife rolled into the gutter, the mud destroying the prints, and mike was found holding the rock that shattered Connor’s jaw. As it was the little bastard was sucking jello with through a straw while mike sat without meds as the officers questioned him.

It wasn’t until his grandpa hobbled in and glared glacially at the cops that they gave up their post and the nurse started an I.V. of morphine. Before the medicine hit his head, the old vet asked mike why he did something so reckless, without hesitation mike told him about Connor drunkenly forcing himself on a girl before he stepped in, Connor sucker punched him, and the rest was kind of blank until the police found him bleeding on the ground with a rock in his hand.
The next day the charges were dropped, and mike was allowed to go home. His grandfather told him to sit down, and explained that his parents didn’t die in a crash, and that his “senile old man” grandpa was just as sharp and spry as always. Retrieving a trunk from under his bed, he handed mike his inheritance, a weathered trench knife, and a journal from his parents, what he did from there was up to him. Squaring his shoulders he asked what he had to do, to follow his parents. his grandpa forced a sad smile and made a call.

Special Talents or Skills:
Hunter: years of tracking, observing and hunting have trained mike to move near silently and use cover efficiently.
Scrappy: Used to fighting against uneven odds, mike is more efficient and comfortable fighting cornered, or unarmed then others.
Lock Picking- Able to pick analog/ key locks

Personal Weapons & Equipment:
M-14 scout
Witness 10mm pistol
Family trench knife + Hold out knives in both boots.
Body armor- lightweight ballistic pads for joints and vital areas covered by class 3 plateing. (Think motocross gear with bracers and such.
Snap gun- (auto lock pick, look it up) + Back up manual lock picks

Name:Naganori Igarashi
Callsign: "Crow"
Age: 29

Appearance (Normal) Naganori's face looks like that of a typical Japanese man. Thin eyes, clean-shaven, short black hair, and young for his age. He is tall by local standards, but slightly short compared to his foreign allies. He has a slightly muscular build, but not as large as some other soldiers. He prefers the lack of body mass in order to maximize movement speed, and minimize his size (to decrease the chances of detection) His clothing will either consist of his formal officer uniform, or any casual wear he has on hand. On his back, he has a crow tattoo which he got upon enlisting into his old unit ("Birds of Prey"), as a form of initiation into the unit, as every member has a tattoo of the bird of their callsign.

Personality: In a nutshell, Naganori is a loyal yet pragmatic soldier. If he has orders, he will most likely follow them, no matter how much risk is involved (to both himself and others). However, this does not mean he doesn't have an independent mind. He has his own opinions on a mission, but he prefers to keep it to himself. The reason is not entirely blind loyalty however. Throughout his years in the Japanese Self Defense Forces, he has learned to trust his superiors to know the best course of action. However, if he is forced into a situation where he must choose between orders and something else, he will choose the most practical option for mission completion. This has gotten him some flak from allies as a cold man,but Naganori has his reasons. He believes that jeopardizing a mission simply to save someone's life or accomplish something else is completely selfish, and not the actions of an honorable soldier. This does not mean that he doesn't care for his fellow men, as he will still protect them to the best of his ability, but if the mission's success is put on the line, then he will put its accomplishment above his own personal agendas. In the end though, he will always carry the guilt of the sacrifices he made. He just never lets it show, nor cloud his judgment.

History: Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, underneath a father in the Japanese Maritime Defense Forces. Naganori was molded into the disciplined lifestyle at an early age. Given the political instability around them, people of Japan were brought up to value honor and discipline. Very few of their citizens indulged in the trend of watching PMC's slaughter each other on international TV. More importance was placed on their military might in order to avoid assimilation into the corporate conglomerates of the world.

At the earliest possible age, Naganori enlisted into the Self Defense Forces. With Japan being one of the few remaining countries that weren't crooked, their soldiers were often sent by the U.N. into foreign battlefields as Peacekeeping Forces, to keep the warring PMC's from causing massive damage and harming civilians. Naganori was part of an infantry unit known as "Birds of Prey", specializing in marksmanship and intel gathering. Their roles on the field were to act as scouts for other units, and to provide sniper support. Naganori was seen to be exceptionally gifted. Managing to remember a great amount of details during reconnaissance, and having impressive accuracy as a sniper. His unit was deployed into many parts of the globe, including Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. This has allowed him to be proficient in many languages, and as such he acts as the team's interpreter and translator.

During a deployment into the African state of Nigeria, where PMC forces were causing mass destruction, The Birds of Prey were ambushed on their scouting mission, 2 men were killed, and Naganori went missing. The remaining members of Birds of Prey retreated to the nearest FOB. Naganori was labelled as MIA and wasn't found until 2 days later. Apparently, he had spent his isolation attempting to complete the mission. According to him, he had followed the ambushers to their base and began collecting information on their numbers, weapons, equipment, and security detail. After gathering what intel he could, he made his way back to the nearest FOB to report his findings. The information he collected was pivotal to putting an end to the PMC operations in that area.

Naganori was given special commendation for his actions, and was recommended to the U.N. higher-ups for transferal to the Blaze Unit. They hope that his skills as a scout and sniper will be of use in hunting down Dead Shadows.

Special talents and skills: Being a member of Birds of Prey, Naganori was found to be naturally gifted at handling a sniper rifle, and stealthily gathering intelligence. He is known to have a photographic memory, capable of remembering even the smallest details. This has, more often than not, been of great use to his allies. Due to the various places he has been deployed into, Naganori was able to use his memory to learn several languages, some of which are Arabic, German, and Somali. Thus he can act as an interpreter when in foreign lands. However, he does not know every language, and so his abilities in this field are limited.

Personal weapons and equipment

  • Steyr Elite with a normal and thermal scope, and suppressor. This was Naganori's rifle ever since he was first put into the "Birds of Prey". He has kept it as both a memento and an effective weapon, capable of killing a man with a single shot.

  • SIG P226 Elite Dark fitted with a red Laser-Aiming-Module (LAM), and equipped with a silencer

  • Standard KA-BAR Combat knife

  • Optical Mask. This is a new type of technology for Recon Units. The mask acts as both protective face-wear, and a telescope. The mask allows the wearer to zoom in and out, letting them perform reconnaissance without the need for scopes. It can also be switched into a nightvision mode, allowing wearers to see in pitch blackness without the need to carry heavy goggles.

  • Ballistic Combat Armor

*Tell me if there's anything wrong or OP about him or his equipment, and I'll edit them as soon as I can :)

So yeah, if you read something and are just like ‘bitch has no idea what shes doing,’ just let me know.

Name: Celeste 'Doc' Ruthold

Age: 28

Appearance:

Personality:
Celeste is a caring woman, which probably fueled her desire to study medicine. She is often a carefree, warm person, who always has an ear open to the stresses and hardships of life in the military. She is not judgmental, and views life with eyes wide open, accepting and congenial to all she encounters - except enemies. She is not weak, or innocent, and should not be expected or treated as such. The one thing that can get on her nerves is the denial of her ability or experience, but rarely will she get angry. She just does her best to prove the accusation wrong. However, there are instances where she is inexperienced, especially those dealing with politics. Her experience is quite... specific, and although she likes to think she is prepared for this life, she is not afraid of asking for help or advice. At times, she can be seen staring off into the distant at painful memories, and though she’ll talk of them freely, she dislikes to dwell on them. She has mourned her losses already - the past should stay in the past.

History:
Celeste was born to a lower class family in rural America, and has had financial troubles since her youth. Her family was close, just the three of them against a harsh and unforgiving world, but they found solace in each other. She was very much loved, and happy, despite the occasional rumbling belly. Her childhood and adolescence passed without serious marring.

When she was a young woman, Celeste found her purpose in helping others, and her analytical mind called for a daring profession. She had always wanted to study medicine, and at this time her dream was to become a trauma doctor, to see all of the ways people managed to harm themselves and bring them back from the brink of life. Her parents, although frightful of their ability to send her, encouraged her to follow that path and go to medical school. But Celeste, ever considerate, knew her parents couldn't afford it. Her only option, as she saw it, was to go into the military; specifically, the air force.

Although not particularly set for such a profession, Celeste eventually fell into the position with an unexpected grace. She served two tours in Afghanistan without any specific incident, although the missions were not specifically difficult or clandestine. It wasn’t until she was stationed in Egypt that she gained renown.

Deployed to a health center along the border for Egyptian soldiers while the civil war was at its height, Celeste was met daily with gruesome injuries and mangled bodies from the relentless and ruthless tactics employed in the area. The clinic (it was actually a base, but the only notable part about it was the clinic), due in small part to Celeste’s notable skill and steady hands, grew exponentially, becoming a beacon to the friendly forces in the area. It grew in popularity as well, which was eventually its downfall. Hearing of the respite, enemy forces took the clinic under siege. Most of the workers, including maintenance personnel, nurses, doctors, physicians, psychiatrists, and combat medics within its wall were either savagely beaten to death, or kept under siege in the clinic. Due to its location, un-strategically placed far from major civilization, the clinic was kept under enemy control for 18 months. During this time, the employees and volunteers stuck there were forced to treat the soldiers in all ways, and were often beaten, raped, or starved to reinforce submission.

By the tenth month of subversion, most of the original workers were dead or worse. Celeste managed to stay in their good graces with her skill alone (though they used her for many things). Celeste became the leader of the remaining civilians, but only because by that time she was the only person with such experience left. She managed to care for the remaining 17 survivors with the miniscule provisions the hostages were provided. It wasn’t until the territorial lines were changes and pushed that friendly forces finally took back the base, only managing to be successful because of an organized riot within its walls. Celeste was not awarded much past a flight home, and the only things that stuck with her was the reputation she gained amongst enemy lines: that of a resourceful savior, bringing men back from the edge of death with the most infinitesimal resources.

She spent much time out of active service after that, living on different bases and moving around the country, unable to settle or bring herself to go back into the fight. But the call of the front lines were strong, and Celeste was offered a place in the Blaze Unit after expressing desire to return to combat for the fact that she can keep men alive in just about any situation.

Special Talents or Skills: Celeste has an impressive knowledge for the workings of the human body, and has a knack for caring for such with little more than her hands and some gauze. She has been seen performing minor surgery on the battlefield if the life of a soldier hangs in the balance, and can tie a tourniquet faster than any other medic she has encountered. Her knowledge does extend to herbal and holistic medicine, but she prefers to work with western advances. She can shoot well, but not exceptionally so, and holds little knowledge in mechanics, engineering, and culture, but she is not ignorant.

Personal Weapons & Equipment:

Other than weapons, the most prevalent thing on Celeste’s person is her medical kit. It holds just about all one could think of for combat medical attention, including but not limited to the following list.
Materials:
Gauze of varying sizes, medical tape, syringes, hemostats, forceps, scalpels, scissors, cotton balls and sponges, catheters, an inhaler, cold and hot packs, stents and ace bandages(both wide and narrow), tweezers, thermometer, safety pins, latex gloves, moleskin
Medicines:
Penicillin and other antibiotic ointments, smelling salts, anti-itch creams, iodine solutions and hydrogen peroxide, antihistamines, decongestants and expectorants, painkillers (nsaids mostly, but also small amounts of opiates), burn cream, and mild sedatives, sodium bicarbonate and other digestive soothers

And she carries a multi-tool.

I'd guess it'd be the same level of things you'd see in MGS. I think the maximum level of tech would be something like MGS4-period Raiden.

Pretty much, but I'm toning things down a bit. You won't be holding back larger-than-aircraft-carrier-sized submarines with your cybernetic body, and you might block some bullets with a blade, etc, but not a whole unit of people machine-gunning you at close range. I want there to be some challenge and danger, and things not to get to the more over-the-top limits that they did in some of the games. Also, it's good to have a level to aspire to and work towards, rather than starting off as TEH AWSUMEST.

Not that I'm implying that you were going for that though, just merely trying to make it clear.
My character will probably go up tomorrow, depending on the site being working. I was thinking of making them KSK (German Special Forces) or a Navy SEAL. Or cross-trained as both.

hey found this and it looks awesome heres my CS then:

Character Name: Jack 'runner' Smith
Age: 34
Appearance:
Jack has brown hair with muddy blonde streaks through out, he has a scar on his left cheek. His uniform has an Australian symbol on his left shoulder, with an S.A.S.R. badge on his right
[B]Personality: Jack is a very joyful person, he seems to take things very lightly making a joke out of most things, but deep inside he realises the seriousness in any mission he is given. He tries to make friends with anyone he meets be it friends or foe, he loves the fresh smell of the tropics, he also likes reading and playing around with his equipment. he hates seeing team mates hurt or dead, in fact this will cause physiological scars that he retains forever.

History:Jack 'Runner' Smith was born in Australia, on the 24th of October. He lived with his parents who were constantly moving around due to his parents being military, he was always been in place of danger. Jacks parents were killed in combat by a triggered explosive when he was 15, he was then sent back to Australia to live with his Aunt.
He enlisted at the age of 18 being deployed to different battles around the world. At the age of 27 Jack was promoted to sergeant and given his own team. In an insurgency mission in Afghanistan Jack's team was sent to capture a political target, when they arrived at the target location multiple explosions went off and killed half of his team, the rest were captured along with him. They were thrown into a single cell and tortured on a daily basis trying to obtain information about their plans. Jack never broke instead he just made a joke out of it as he usually did, in the end he was stabbed in the cheek and sent back to Australia in a wooden box, the rest of his team died.
The S.A.S.R. then debriefed him about what happened, he was recommended for a Victorian cross but refused saying that the men who died deserved it more than he did. instead the offered him a place in their ranks. By the age of 34 Jack had been assigned over 40 high risk missions including the ones he did before S.A.S.R., he successfully completed 39. Because of this high success rate the S.A.S.R recommended him to the blaze unit.

Special Talents or Skills:Jack always had an uncanny skill for covering long distances quickly, so he increased his speed by placing cybernetic enhancements into his legs, he also acquired a talent of moving around quietly.

Pretty much, but I'm toning things down a bit. You won't be holding back larger-than-aircraft-carrier-sized submarines with your cybernetic body, and you might block bullets with a blade, etc, but not a whole unit of people machine-gunning you at close range.

But kicking tanks in half is the best part of being a cyborg! :p

CS should be up by tomorrow.

Oh, before I start, would cybernetics go under equipment or replace a special ability?

I'd say they'd count as a special ability

2019-ish. Near future. Though, much like MGS and various other things, history's a little bit wobbly anyway, as there's things like cybernetics, gene therapy, AI etc. around. But the major events are still the same.

Working on my character too, but I keep getting interrupted >.<;;

See my post above. It's not even that far into the future, only a few years, but alternate world, wibbly-wobbly-ness. 2019-2020something

Probably be good if I posted my own character, wouldn't it? xP

Character Name: Sabine Macintyre
Age: 37
Appearance:
Relatively muscular (especially for a woman), not unlike a professional athlete. Noticeable muscle definition, but not too 'ripped'. Slim and sleek build due to exercise and physical activity, but still has feminine curves.
Reddish-brown hair, work practically short, but with a bit of flourish and style. Slim, arched eyebrows. Sharp, pointed cheekbones and rounded chin. Artificial eyes are extremely bright green, with - when standing very close - noticeable 'mechanical' lines in iris. Slightly dusky skin-tone, but has small amount of freckles around eyes and nose. Small patterned tattoo across upper back, at bottom of neck.
Wears generally practical and sensible clothing when not wearing normal combat gear, though is not unknown to wear stylish and lady-like clothing when the correct occasion presents itself.
Personality:
Somewhat guarded and cautious with others, but will open once she has had time to grow accustomed to them, and to trust them. Has a well-hidden soft side, and especially loves animals and nature, and has a fascination with the beauty and splendor of the natural world, from growing up in the vast outdoors of Canada.
Tends to be driven and dedicated, and can be quite defensive about her role and position within the military, and is over-eager to prove herself. Nonetheless, is a competent and professional operator, and has a rational and quick mind and intellect.
History:
Sabine's father was an officer in the RCMP, and served with distinction in the RCMP's Emergency Response Team (ERT) branch, and was awarded several citations and awards for exceptional service. This inspired Sabine to follow in his footsteps in some way - much to the disappointment of her mother, who had hoped their only daughter might follow a more ladylike course. As a concession to this, however, Sabine pursued hobbies in horse-riding and in music (playing the violin), both of which she was good at. Target shooting also figured high on her past-times.
All the same, both parents supported her in her choice, and Sabine pressed herself to the task. Initially she had her eye on the ERT, but during her education and training, her school was visited by a recruiter from the Canadian Armed Forces, who persuaded her - not that it was hard - to enlist, in return for a healthy helping hand with her college fees.
She accepted, and trained, as well as studied hard, graduating with a degree in international politics and cultural psychology. After her training, she served on active deployment in Afghanistan and in peacekeeping and disaster relief operations in the far east.
Finding the infantry role interesting, but desiring more, she investigated training with Joint Task Force 2 (JTF-2), the Premiere Canadian Special Forces Unit, and was accepted for training.
Things got difficult for the family after her father was targeted in retaliation for his instrumental part exposure of a terrorist cell plot in Canada. Sabine's mother and her younger brother were captured while at home and assaulted, while Sabine herself was captured and forced to watch.
She was freed by a combined operation by JTF2 and ERT, during which the majority of the terrorists were killed, but her father was also critically wounded, as was she.
Sabine lost the sight in both eyes, as well as receiving serious damage to her nervous system. Her father lost his right leg, as well as receiving traumatic injuries to his spleen and kidneys.

Sabine's father was retired, and Sabine was on life-support in hospital. However, her family were approached by a source from within the armed forces community, and the opportunity was given to restore Sabine's full range of sight and bodily function using experimental nanotechnology and cybernetics. With no other real options available, and not willing to lose their daughter, Sabine's parents agreed.
Sabine's body was enhanced with the technology. The result was that she regained her sight and the full use of her body, to greater levels than before. Her vision was now especially acute, and much better at noticing movement than previously, as well as able to adjust quicker to light levels. The enhancement to her nerve fibers increased their reaction time by a factor of a third, as well as restoring nerve connections to her extremities.
Following the successful implementation of these surgeries along with a full psychological evaluation, Sabine was later cleared to return to active service. Her training with JTF2 continued and she graduated, followed by her superiors taking a special interest in her following her impressive results in training and exercises. She was transferred for additional cross-training with the US Navy SEALs, british SAS, US Army Rangers and Delta Force, as well as additional training in piloting helicopters, demolitions and heavy weapons use, and undercover intelligence gathering with numerous intelligence organizations, which she showed a considerable skill for.

Further deployed into action against Syria to engage and 'acquire' high-value targets in the ongoing conflict there, and to engage in anti-piracy operations in Somalia, as well as other operations around the world, she gained a reputation with her comrades and other JTF2 operatives as a reliable and deadly operator, but not one lacking in humanity. Given her track record, she was seconded to the Blaze Unit, where she awaits her next challenge.
Special Talents or Skills: As mentioned, her cybernetic replacement eyes and her artificially repaired/enhanced nerve fibers give her increased reaction time and visual acuity, allowing her a greater comprehension of the battlefield, as well as the ability to react especially fast to ongoing events. She can't quite dodge a bullet, but she can get pretty damn close.
