The First Day: An Intro to Ongaku

Tatsuya Aika paced and paced and paced. She didn't know how long. Maybe too long, because the feeling in her legs became lost. The night before, she had made sure to memorize every map Ongaku Academy had to offer. The first floor was the lobby and basic classes like math or science--the useless stuff. And then, the second floor was a physical activity floor filled to the brim of ballet dancers or hip hop dancers or tap dancers. The third floor was the most important, lined with doors containing instruments and microphones. And the very top floor were the dorms, but that didn't matter now. What mattered was.. was.. her band.

Tatsuya had arrived in the morning, earlier than expected of a regular student, and organized/decorated her new dorm a bit, making sure to leave room for her roommate. She was pretty sure Mi-kun would be texting or calling her soon, expecting her to have slept late or to have totally forgotten about it. Little did he know, she had been decorating every inch of her side of the room with posters of her favorite anime and manga characters, tidying up her desk with manuscripts for music and songs, and polishing her guitar which she kept so neatly propped up in the corner of the room. And now, here she was, pacing and pacing and pacing. Her head was swimming in nerves of her prospect for a new band. Of course she was confident enough to gather a handful of people to make it happen, but.. still, Tatsuya was only human. She couldn't pull it off alone. The small girl stopped in the middle of the soft-carpeted room, staring ahead with more of a glare than anything. That was where Mi-kun came in. He had worked in a shop for most of his life. He could handle some things. Yes.

And Tsukino. Tsukino, one of her other childhood friends who was more or less supportive of most of the things she did. This would bring no harm to anyone, forming a band. Tatsuya slowly backed away, taking a seat on her comfy, pink sheets. She hugged her plush cat, tapping her foot in thought. Okay. You can do this. She told herself over and over. You can do this with some help. Yeah. Okay. Tatsuya had heard there was a big welcome dinner hosted by the Academy the first day, so she would find Mi-kun there and even Tsukino too. There, she would give them her grand idea. And they would damn approve it.

In fact, I could even go search for them now! She thought, abruptly standing up, but stopped dead in her tracks. Oh, yeah. She wanted to meet her roommate, who she heard was a piano prodigy. I've never met a piano prodigy before.. This could be a big deal. I bet she's really cool. She has a weird name, though. Furrowing her eyebrows, Tatsuya patiently took a seat, waiting then.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

Tsukino had given tours in the morning to cute, little first years, so he hadn't gotten a chance to greet his old time friend at the door as he planned to. It was, after all, fun giving her a hard time. But instead, he checked on a list to see if she had arrived, and oddly, Tatsuya was one of the first ones. This must mean a lot to you. He thought, avoiding the stares of giggling first year girls in the lobby. Grabbing a complimentary apple that was meant for new students, Tsukino shoved his hand in his pocket and stared up at the roommate list. He had had the same room since Year 1, but his old roommate had finally graduated for being quite the accomplished dancer. Tsukino had seen his roommate's face on Tatsuya's cellphone wallpaper, and maybe once or twice in public with her, but that was about it. Michio Ueno. Huh. He frowned, starting to casually stroll up the stairs.

The 4th year student took a bite of his stolen apple, walking up and up three flights of stairs until he found himself caught in the girls' dorm hallway. All boys had to walk through it to get to their own, and some, Tsukino mused, lingered longer than they should have. He was surprised of the lenient rules of Ongaku Academy. Girls were allowed in boys' rooms and boys were allowed in girls' rooms. Then again, most students there were solely focused on their studies to ever even think on flirting. Tsukino took another bite of his apple, arriving at his room and opening the door.

There, his roommate stood, tall and unimposing. Smiling, Tsukino's arms lowered to his side as he tossed his mutilated apple in the trash can, tipping his head at the sight of Tatsuya's best friend. "Ah, you must be Ueno Michio. A pleasure to meet you. I'm Tsukino Yorushi."

Fukatsu blocked out the world around her. Ignoring any sound of other people, animals, anything alive for that matter. She had yet to meet her roommate for this year, but Fukatsu didn't care. She probably wouldn't talk much to her anyways. Fukatsu mainly thought about hat this new year would bring. More time fixing things that broken. Though not as much time as she normally spent over summers. Plus she was sixteen now, she had a car back at home. And she had already tinkered with it, giving it upgrades, it was in Fukatsu's nature.

Fukatsu opened her bag and gripped the one item she held closest to her. A wrench. Her first one. Her father had given it too her as a birthday present when she turned five. And that was when Fukatsu's father dragged her into the world of fixing and upgrading. Now, eleven years later, Fukatsu could fix almost anything. Cars, instruments, sound boards, PA systems, announcers, she had spent years learning exactly how to fix the broken. But people... people were Fukatsu's weak point. She hadn't spent time with her peers. She didn't talk unless necessary.

Micho's parents had him to the academy early that morning, sent him off with stiff farewells and commands to perform well and focus. He'd lugged his baggage up to his dorm with minimal cursing and soon enough had gotten to work turning his half of the room into his new home. His impact wasn't all that noticeable really; a plain set of navy sheets, his practice violin and a wire stand resting in the corner, his real violin tucked safely under his bed a backpack and set of books resting at the end of it. The main focus, however, was the monster of a computer seemingly merged with his desk. A dual-monitor setup clamped to the desk with the tower tucked away underneath, mechanical keyboard with letters glowing blue, a small electric keyboard and a set of large headphones hanging over the back of the chair. Despite the complex setup, however, everything was acutely organized, not a sock sticking out of the drawers, not a paper out of place.

Michio now stood in the middle of the room, surveying his unpacking job to see if he missed anything. His eyes roved over the digital clock on his night stand, and noticing the time he pulled his phone out to fire off a quick text to Tatsuya. Hopefully she hadn't overslept, or gotten carried away packing.

Up and at 'em, don't want to be late. Text me when you get here, yeah?

Text sent, Michio scanned the room again, just now noticing how quiet it was. Muffled conversations floated through the walls, boys laughing and arguing over space, things that could be expected. But there were no clicks of registers, no constant classical tracks buzzing in the air, no bells from opened doors, no customers seeking guidance. Taking a deep breath, Michio closed his eyes, relishing the relative normalcy of it all for as long as fate would let him.

"Ah, you must be Ueno Michio. A pleasure to meet you. I'm Tsukino Yorushi."

As it turned out fate could be a real bitch sometimes, Michio remarked as his new roommate strode in. Nonetheless, he smiled and bowed curtly, a slightly out-of-place formality, but a greeting all the same.

"Call me Michio, and the pleasure is all mine." He said, straightening to his incredible height once again. "Tsukino Yorushi? The name sounds familiar. Do I know you from somewhere?" On the same vein of thinking, he quickly fired another text off to Tatsuya.

Hey, I think I'm rooming with your friend. You've mentioned Tsukino Yorushi haven't you? Or am I losing my mind again?

Lester rubbed his eyes as he stepped through the wide doors to the school only to be greeted by the loud noises of squealing first years. He was fresh of the metaphorical boat, which was actually a plane. He had went to visit his family back in America during the school holidays and had just arrived back the day before school started. He was still considerably jet lagged, but kept his cool throughout the strange looks a lot of the new students shot at him and his obscure appearance. He was wearing a sleeveless shirt with the faded logo of the Dead Kennedy's printed on it and a truckers cap this time with the logo of some bar on it. Along with this, he had jeans on and some old sneakers that had been worn far past their prime. On his back he carried one large camping bag and a smaller gym bag along with a guitar case in his hand.

He made his way through the bustling crowds, taking care not to knock anyone over or accidentally swing a guitar case into their teeth. He slid the small folded up map out of his back pocket and opened it up using the thumb of his spare hand and his teeth. He had circled where his new dorm room was, he had gotten moved from his last room-mate after they got into a small scrap and it ended up in a broken window and a lot of hurt feelings. He made an attempt to grab at one of the complementary apples, but was quickly caught by a teacher and sent to his dorm before he got in any more trouble.

He made his way up the stairs, each step getting more and more difficult as he realized how lazy he well and truly was. He hadn't climbed this many steps since last semester, he'd spent the entire holiday sleeping in his old bed and listening to records in his 'garden'. He finally made it to his dorm and booted open the door to reveal his room-mate hadn't made it there yet. This was good for Lester, he wouldn't have to put up with making small talk while he put up his stuff and could get straight to the banter of picking at every little object of his room-mates possessions. He stuck the few posters he had on his side of the room, various bands like the Smiths, Primus, The Stooges among others all littered his wall now. His guitar sat in it's case under his bed, the neck sticking out slightly to make it easy for him to take it out. His clothes were all in his wardrobe and he had shoved the bags he carried them in on top of said wardrobe. He finally lay on his bed, staring at the door and waiting for his room-mate to enter. Eventually this got insanely boring and by eventually I mean within the first 15 seconds so he quickly scavenged around for his I-pod within his guitar case and began to listen through one ear-bud.

The small click of Paris' barrette as it collected hair and held it down in place.

Snap

The small click of Paris' barrette being taken out.

This activity lasted for several minutes as the young pink haired girl tried to get just the right angle and hold. She was a bit of a nutcase to any passer by, but sometimes you just had to be. Finally getting her hair in order Paris began climbing the steps to the dorm rooms. Adorning her body was a traveling bag and being pulled behind her- a large suitcase.

A bit to her surprise she would be assigned a new roommate this year. The previous year she was given a quaint young woman who was an artist and spent most of her time with her head buried in a sketch pad. They didn't speak much, and Paris was relatively okay with that.

"Why does there have to be so many stairs?" the young woman said with a huff. She wasn't in the greatest shape, spending most of her time practicing piano while eating junk food, and studying while eating junk food. It was a GOOD life.

Reaching her dorm room (eventually) she placed her head slowly to the door. Movement could be heard inside but it did not sound like anything too sporadic. Pulling slowly away she raised her fist to knock- but hesitated. "Hey- this is my room too, I don't have to knock!" she thought reaching for the door knob but hesistated once again, "But what.. what if she is busy or worst yet-" Paris' eyes widened in horror "--naked."

Quite suddenly Paris began knocking rather quickly and loudly. "Hello! It's your roommate Paris Uzumaki! If you are naked, I can surely come back at another time or date!"Embarrassed by what she just said, Paris stood in horror waiting for response.

Arriving to her new room and shuffling around inside her pocket, the blonde girl had just arrived to the school a few moments ago. What in the past had been filled with luxuries as coming to school in a huge limousine with several bodyguards had now been changed for a 30 minute walk all by herself. Drastric changes, indeed. Even in the way she dressed. She used to dress really lady-like, with one piece dresses and whatnot, maybe even high heels, ridiculous as they may seem on a little girl, and now, she had changed those for a black, sleeveless shirt, a pair of black shorts and a pair black boots. Several things adorned her wrists as well, most of them black, with only a pair of bracelets being actually silver or even gold among the huge black ones. She didn't paint her face with black make-up just because it wouldn't look good with her purple eyes.

After some time of searching endlessly through her bag, she finally found the aforementioned key, with a "All right! Here it is!" She introduced the key in the doorknob and turned it around. The door finally opened for her and she let out a sigh of relief. Gosh, it had been torture on her shoulders having almost lost her key inside her bag. She was carrying her guitar, an amplifier for her to play her guitar with AND a bag filled with her clothes, and some cute trinkets she brought along with her, which wasn't any lighter, maybe it was even heavier than the other two combined, not to mention the little bag where she kept everything else in. Maybe it had been a bad idea to get rid of the gophers bodyguards that her father often sent alongside her.

Though she quite did not expect for her roommate to be already inside the room. The girl seemed a bit... quiet, but Hiiragi might as well, no? "Yo! How's it going?" She asked with a smile. Her mother would be ashamed to hear her talk now, after so much time was spent into teaching her proper manners. "Name's Hiiragi Sangu. Let's get along, a'ight? And before you ask, no, it is not 'Hiiragi' as in the 'Hiiragi' group." She said before the girl had any chance to say anything about it. She had to deal with the question before, so now she just made sure to make it clear from the start.

Without saying anything else, though, Hiiragi started on with putting everything of hers into place. She took her guitar out of the case she had been carrying it in. She carefully put it on the bed and nodded to herself. Yeah, it was beautiful all right. Hiiragi just loved her guitar. After gazing at it for a bit, she started searching for the stand she had brought with her in her bag. When she found it, she set it next to her bed and then put her guitar on it. Like that, there was no way it would fall down and get scratched or anything. Yes, perfect. She nodded to herself.

"So, what? Ain't you gonna introduce yourself or somethin'?" Hiiragi turned to her roommate. "That'd be rude, y'know?" She simply said to her. Of course, she didn't know if the girl had already introduced herself. She was a bit too busy gazing at her guitar. Now, she only had to get some kind of opportunity to get out all of her cute things and whatnot, without the girl being able to see them and... well, think that she wasn't actually as rude as she posed to be.

Another day, another year of Ongaku Academy. Had it been three years already since he had enrolled? Damn, time certainly flew by fast when no one is looking at it. Three years in Japan, away from his hometown and away from everyone he had known since he was only a child. It hasn't been easy to pretend that he wasn't homesick, but it's not like he didn't make any friends here...well...he's made a few, but to call him a popular guy is like saying that the sky is purple; it wasn't true. Sure he had been known on the student campus by many students though it was mostly ridicule and bullying from most of them due to his shy and rather no nonsense personality when it came to learning, even if it is the most mundane of subjects.

Michael had arrived early to unpack his things and decorate his little space with posters of old movies such as Gone with the Wind,, Dirty Harry, and the God Father. What mostly took up the wall space was his massive record collection, ranging from Dave Van Ronk to Frank Sinatra to Stevie Wonder to Jimi Hendrix to Jeff Buckley, Wynton Marsalis, and so much more. He had taken it upon himself to build a bookcase that had not only contained the records that couldn't be hung up on his wall, but his massive array of books, a personal library that would make any librarian damn proud.

In the previous couple of years, his experience with his roommates was dismal. One of them was smitten with him and didn't even bother to hide it, often flirting with him and wearing only his skivvies when they were in their dorm room. The other was just as awkward as Michael and they didn't say anything to each other in fear that they would both say something stupid. His hope was that this year he would have his own living space, but that would never be realized. There was the second bed that signified that he did indeed have his own roommate for this year. He could only pray that this year that this person would be at least decent.

He just laid on his back on the bed, staring at the ceiling. He couldn't stop thinking about what his roommate could be like. Sigh, no sense in worrying I guess. To take his mind of it, he grabbed his laptop from his bedside and turned it on. Perhaps playing a game would ease his mind?

The public bus had dropped Goro off a couple blocks from the school. After saying his goodbyes to his family, he boarded a bus on a one way ticket to the Academy. The ride was uneventful, boring, and long. Goro could barely stay still in his seat, and would always try making conversations with people on the bus. Noticing the people really didn't want to talk, Goro backed off.

Once the bus rolled to a stop, Goro grabbed his giant suitcase and got off the bus. Fishing into his pocket, he found a small piece of paper that had directions to the Academy once he got off the bus, and his dorm room number. Reading the directions carefully, Goro found his way to the Academy after a few minutes. Upon reaching the gate, he looked around the courtyard. Many kids were hugging their parents goodbye, or chatting among other students. Many had suitcases to signify that they haven't made it to their dorm room yet. Reading the piece of paper again, Goro started to make his way up the stairs to the dorm hallways.

Upon reaching the Dorm floor, Goro started his journey to actually find the room. A couple of minutes went by, and finally he found the room. The door already creaked open a little bit, Goro put his eye through the little crack to see if anyone was in there. Sitting on the bed was another student, he seemed to be doing something on his laptop. Goro stood back from the door for a couple seconds, before taking a deep breathe and kicking the door open all the way. Throwing his suitcase on the empty bed, Goro turned to the student on the bed. "Hello there! You must be my roommate! I'm Goro Kenichi! What's your name? What's your talent? What are you doing on your laptop?...." Goro asked more and more questions, not giving the student a chance to speak. Goro always got extra excited when he met someone new, and this wasn't a exception. Since they were going to be living together for a long period of time, Goro was bouncing off the walls excited to meet his roommate.

"Hurry up. We are going to be late." Hiro snapped at his driver, folding his arms and huffing slightly as he peered out of the car window, foot tapping impatiently. They had been driving for at least an hour in order to get to the academy and Hiro was starting to question whether that nagging sensation in his stomach was simply boredom from the long drive or whether he was actually nervous about starting a new school. He tried to distract himself by judging the bystanders on the pavement, a personal favourite past-time of his, but was struggling to keep focus. He had spent all night deciding which of his precious possessions he would bring with him. He had seen pictures of what constituted as a room at the Academy, which was at least a quarter of the size of his room at home, and knew he only needed to bring the most important things. Of course, there was his clothing and his laptop (top of the range, naturally) but he had trouble narrowing down his collections of gadgets and electronics. He finally settled on simply bringing a nice set of speakers wired to a docking station for his iPod that he had built himself and a mixing board that he messed around with when he was truly bored. It wasn't much, but he knew he could survive living the student life, part of him even believed it would be an 'adventure'.

After what felt like an eternity in the car and a short strength unpacking his bags from the car, Hiro finally found himself walking into the main building, carrying more baggage than most of the new students. He had penned his dorm number on the back of his hand in case he forgot, but he had spent the last week drilling it into his mind. Hiro's eyes darted across the courtyard as he took large demanding strides across. Unsurprisingly, the school's populous mostly consisted of what Hiro considered 'artsy types', the kind that looked unclean, uncivilized and would most probably spend their adult days serving coffee or whatever. In his mind, he was certainly the most civilized of the bunch. He walked proudly, aware of a few people looking his way as he strode through the doors like he owned the joint, to be perfectly honest, Hiro adored the attention.

After ten minutes or so of navigating the building based on a recollection of a map he had glanced at, Hiro eventually stood within eyesight of his dorm room's door. He hadn't considered the fact that there was a chance he would have a roommate, the idea of which made him shudder. The rooms were going to be small enough, let alone sharing with someone else. The idea of someone else, using Hiro's things without his permission? It was quite possibly the scariest thing he had ever had to deal with. With a deep breath, Hiro took a confident stride into his new room and allowed himself a sigh of relief. There were two beds, but for now they were both empty. Hiro tossed his things onto one of the beds (of course, the nicer one) and began to unpack, starting by setting up the expensive speakers he had brought with him

Well this guy was...energetic. He wasn't even in the room for more than one minute and he was already asking everything about him. What's next? What kind of underwear he was wearing...? Actually yeah, he hoped that this guy had the sense of privacy or else this would be just as bad as having that over eager flirt as a roommate. Then again, it was pretty rude of Goro to be asking all of these questions all at once without even waiting for a reply or even have the common courtesy to give Michael some breathing room. Still, he could forgive this overly energetic young man that must've been charged by the Energizer Bunny.

Michael chuckled nervously and ruffled the back of his head, looking down towards the ground. He paused his game, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth and shut his laptop so he could fully focus his attention. Um, heh heh, my name is Michael. I here as a singer...I guess. He cleared his throat and then asked his own question. ...Um...so...um...w-what are you here for?

Fukatsu looked at Hiiragi.
"I'm Fukatsu Saito." Fakatsu said nothing more. Her attention had been caught by the amp the girl had brought with her. That and the guitar. Such beautiful works of art. Far more appealing than their owner. Not that Hiiragi wasn't charming, Fukatsu just didn't care for living, breathing things. But the sound the guitar would make would be beautiful. Fukatsu smiled slightly, still gazing at the amp, from where she sat on her bed. Her hand clenching tighter around her wrench, feeling the urge to fix something.

Part of her wished it needed fixing, another part of her was livid at the thought of something so beautiful, like Hiiragi's guitar being damaged. Fukatsu wiped the smile from her face. No. She must let others know. She would be a bit of a freak. She was known for being cold. Not many people knew of her proficiency on fixing. It was also a pretty useless talent in a school like this one.

The First Day: An Intro to Ongaku

It did not take Tatsuya long to make herself at home. She kicked off her boots and settled on her bedspread, humming, maybe even purring. Her moms wanted to make sure her room looked exactly like her room back at home so she wouldn't feel homesick. Honestly, home hadn't even crossed her mind for the whole duration of the trip to Ongaku, nor during the time spent staring at the ceiling. The only sound that brought her out of her peaceful trance was a buzzing inside of her pocket. Eyes wide, alert, Tatsuya took her iPhone out and stared broodingly at the name on the screen. Michio. At the message, she rolled her eyes and began to type in characters, but shortly after, she got another text. Her heart stopped. Tsukino. Her two dear friends from childhood were rooming together. In a mass and fit of giggles, Tatsuya began typing away, a funny grin curved in her lips.

Right ahead of ya, sucker! >w< I got here two hours ago. And yeah, that's Tsuki-san! I'll see you two dolls at the dinner. ^w^ Get acquainted and stuff!

And send. Tatsuya relaxed, but once again tensed whenever she heard a quick, harsh knocking at the door. And then, a voice. The girl stood, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion at what her.. assumed roommate had said. She grinned funnily again, walking over to the door and tugging it open, finding a pink-haired girl standing in the hallway. This was the piano prodigy? "What the hell are you talking about? Gosh, come on, this is your room too." As though they were already good friends, Tatsuya took the girl's hand and dragged her inside the strawberry-scented lair.

"Paris Uzumaki, huh?" Tatsuya frowned, tipping her head. "That's a weird first name. It sounds fancy, though. Paris." Tatsuya chuckled, turning towards her and taking a small, quick bow. "I'm Tatsuya Aika and starting today, I'm your roommate! Nice to meet you!"

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

Tsukino pushed up his glasses, taking a seat on his already-made, grey bed. His own side of the room was not much. It had a desk with paper and notes scrawled all over it. Probably the most noticeable thing was a shelf absolutely stacked with a disarray of books and journals. Tsukino noticed the younger boy texting someone, and he smiled in a fox-like way at his question, nodding. Michio. Or as Tatsuya called him, "Mi-kun", which Tsukino found to be very Tatsuya-like. Oh, how famous she was for giving people she liked or loved nicknames. In Japan, it might have been considered disrespectful to give them so early, but her cute, girlish looks usually let her get away with a lot of stuff. Tsukino's green eyes peered up at Michio over the rims of his glasses. He had known Tatsuya longer than anyone at the Academy, surely.

"Yes, Tatsuya-chan is a good friend of me. And I know very well that she is more than a good friend of yours, hm?" His tone was nonchalant and light-hearted as usual. He pushed up his glasses again. "Her mother, Akira-san, worked for my family as a maid when Tatsuya-chan was about nine or ten, so we became friends." Observing him, Tsukino sat up a bit, leaning against the bed board. "She called me the day she was accepted in the Academy and mentioned that you were accepted too. It's funny how this whole roommate thing worked out, huh?" Tsukino stood, stretching his arms and yawning.

"But anyway, enough about her. We'll have plenty of time to talk to her during the dinner. In the meantime, what are you in here for? I bet it's something smart. You look smart." He innocently put his hands behind his back.

Paris was slightly taken back when the door flung open and she was greeted by her room mate. Her lips parted to apologize again but was interrupted by the girl, "What the hell are you talking about? Gosh, come on, this is your room too." Paris was shocked this girl was speaking to her like this. She wasn't offended in the slightest, but shocked and a bit scared.. if anything.

Before Paris had a moment to speak she was taken by the hand and brought- no dragged into the room. The smell of strawberry invaded her nostrils. It was overwhelming, but in a good way. The two dropped hands as Paris peered around the room. The girl had already decorated her side of the dorm with multiple shades of pink. The opposite of the dull empty side that belonged to Paris. Placing her travel bag and suitcase on the bed, she turned as Tatsuya was coming up from her bow.

This girl's charm would be something Paris' mother would be giddy over.

Heat traveled to her chubby cheeks as she blushed and returned a small curtsy. "It's really my pleasure to meet you!" Paris chirped, smiling and nodding. "I'm very glad to see you like pink" the girl added in, giving a small gesture to her hair as she began unzipping bags and pulling items out, placing them very precisely. "As for my name.." Paris started, a bit embarrassed that Tatsuya thought her name was odd, fancy- but odd. "Let's just say my mother is really into french things." Paris explained, dumping the last of her items.

Paris quickly realized she did not have many decorative items. Her parents weren't very much into knick knacks or things that brought too much color into any space, as it would be too 'distracting'. Her parents about died when she came home with a head of pink hair, but eventually her mother found a 'cute' aesthetic too it, and now it had become mandatory. Which made it lose all of it's original fun.

Even now unpacked the two sides of the rooms we're quite opposite.

Paris bit her bottom lip thinking of what to say next before safely asking, "What are you studying at the academy?"

Michio nodded as his roommate spoke, taking a seat on his own bed. He remembered the stretch of time in which one of Tatsuya's mothers was working as a maid. Michio had just been starting to work in the front of his parents' shop at that point, where before then all his work had been behind the scenes, mostly counting inventory and running to check if things were in stock. "Ah yes, I remember you now, or your name anyway. She was always quick at making friends. And yes, Tatsuya and I have been dear friends for nearly as long as I can remember." A ghost of a grin crossed his face as he thought over some fond memories. "She might as well be a sister to me."

The thought of nicknames must have crossed his mind the same time it crossed Tsukino's; Tatsuya had started calling him Mi-kun almost immediately, and she'd been the only one to continually -kun, -chan or -san him since. He never gave nicknames himself either - perhaps a side effect of working retail for as long as you could reliably count.

But, pushing that somewhat embarrassing thought aside, Michio continued, wringing his hands together. "Yeah, funny how it all worked out. Small world I suppose, I can only imagine the sick satisfaction Tatsuya's getting right about now." Tsukino's next comment elicited a laugh, and a lightened smile. "Yes, enough about her. After all, at dinner we'll be lucky to get a word in edgewise. I feel for whatever poor girl got her as a roommate, it's a hell of a lot to get used to." Despite his lighthearted complaints, any chump could hear the fondness in his voice and know he didn't mean a word unkindly.

"But anyway, I'm technically here for classical violin and piano, and some composing and theory. But uh..." he looked to his computer, knowing that behind the swirling screen savers were countless incomplete scores that he spent too much time tweaking to progress, and numerous homemade techno tracks that were mixed to a point where they were little more than fleeting white noise with beats like hammer falls and bass lines you could swim in. "...I'd like to consider myself more of a new-age music person. I mean I can appreciate classical and all, but I'm not exactly cramming my phone with Mozart." He chuckled, more of a filler sound than anything. "Thank you for the compliment, by the way." He dipped his head curtly to the boy opposite.

He felt his phone buzz in is pocket and glanced at it, the message rolling across the screen. Dubbing it safe to leave unanswered, he quickly tucked it away, not wanting to seem rude right off the bat. "Anyway, what are you here for? You're clearly a returning student, and by the looks of that shelf I'd say it has something to do with literature. Or are you forever the elusive mystery, and I'm shooting in the dark?"

Seeing the other girl, Fukatsu or something was her name, almost drooling while she saw her things, Hiiragi couldn't help but be taken aback a bit. It was creepy, to be honest, and Hiiragi felt a bit offended at how she was gazing at her guitar, and tightly grasped a wrench between her hands. Yeah.... she seemed to be thinking on how to put apart her guitar. If it wasn't that, then it was probably damn close to it. She started being defensive, as she put herself in front of her guitar while frowning at the girl in front of her. "Did ya lose something? What you staring at with those grredy eyes?" She couldn't help but ask.

It scared her that the girl would try to do something to her amp or even worse, her guitar, at night. That was not about to happen, not as long as she was there to stop her from massacring her beloved. "J-just so you know, I am not letting you do anything weird with my things! I-if you are thinking about breaking apart my guitar, I-I won't forgive you you know! It is the messenger of my soul!" Of course, what she just said wasn't something she should have said. Her face blushed after she realised what she had just said.

Even so, it only got her more angry. "Anyway! If you touch my things, I'm totally going to end you, all right?! You keep your wrench away from my things and we'll live in here nicely, all right!?" She didn't drop her hostile attitude and was ready to throw herself in the way of the girl should it be needed at any time. She just didn't trust someone looking like that at her guitar with a wrench in her hand.

Goro looked down to the student on the bed, watching him as he started to laugh a little bit and rub the back of his neck. "Um, heh heh, my name is Michael. I here as a singer...I guess." Micheal answered, and closing down his laptop. "You're a singer? That's so cool! What do you mean you guess though? If you made it into this academy for singing there is no guessing. You have a real talent!" Goro yelled aloud, a smile starting to form at his lips.

Goro pulled out a pair of worn down brown drumsticks. "I'm here because of these, and I'm going to make the big time because of these." Goro put the drumsticks to his lips and gave them a quick kiss before starting to air drum, making sound effects after every wrist movement. Goro stopped air drumming after a couple seconds, before sticking out his chest, and putting both hands on his hips, making a very superhero-like pose. "Pretty neat huh?" Goro then walked over to his suitcase on his bed, and started to take out his clothes. Opening his drawers and throwing all of the clothes in there very disorganized and quickly.

"I won't break your guitar or amp'" Fukatsu sighed, putting down her wrench. Sure, she wouldn't break the amp or guitar. But if they were broken, she would fix them.

Feeling the urge to meddle with something rising, Fukatsu grabbed a box from her bag, popping it open. Inside the box were little broken toys. From race cars, to remote controlled helicopters, to tamagotchis or DSs. She grabbed a black DS and some tools and began to disassemble. The DS belonged to a kid she had met over the summer. He had said it had broken and that it was going to be sold, so Fukatsu said that she would fix it and return it. She took it apart with small precise movements, her hands hiding whatever she was doing. But after a short time she began to reassemble it, putting it back in the box before grabbing a remote control car. Fukatsu began to dissemble this toy as well, feeling her urge to fix things calm.

The First Day: An Intro to Ongaku

This girl was.. moe. Her hair was dyed pink and she was polite. She probably would do very good service being a maid at a cafe! Then again, students who dedicated their lives to music or whatever they were at Ongaku for, usually did not have a part-time job unless they wanted to exhaust themselves. She had heard horror stories from students collapsing on the way to class. Tatsuya's hazel eyes scanned the girl once more, and she relaxed into her own bed, watching as Paris unpacked her things. Another thing was, Paris kind of calmed the air down a bit right off the bat. In a way, Paris made her alert and on her toes. Not because of Paris herself, but because of their surroundings. Tatsuya felt.. obliged to help her, protect her. She was just so moe! How could Tatsuya not? Then again.. she dyed her hair pink. She must have some kind of rebellious streak. Or she was dumb, which would give her a hard time getting into the Academy in the first place.

So. Paris Uzumaki dyed her hair pink because she liked pink, and her mother was into French things. "Eh? What am I studying? O-Oh, I'm studying singing and guitar!" There were probably more technical terms for it that her mother liked to brag to the neighbors about, but as far as Tatsuya was concerned, singing and guitar was the reason she was there. "And I know why you're here! Aren't you some piano prodigy or something? I read that you were!"

She grinned, crossing her arms. "Hey, they're having a big dinner to welcome all the newbies this year, and if you don't already know someone here, you should sit with my friends and me! They'd be glad to have you." They better be damn glad to have her. She was a moe maid after all! And she was really pretty! Maybe Michio would finally get a girlfriend. Or Tsukino. But Tsukino would absolutely butcher Paris' confidence, Tatsuya felt. The girl watched her unpack, a twinkle in her eye. Hmm.. Maybe the first potential possibility for her new idea. A piano prodigy.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

The more they spoke of Tatsuya, the more comfortable around his roommate Tsukino felt. He was comfortable anyway given his superior, senior status, but they had something in common and that was a girl that caused them absolute hell. A girl they both loved. Tsukino grinned, leaning back against his headboard and shutting his eyes. Hm. Michio-san might just be qualified to become a new character in his upcoming novel. "Classical violin and piano, huh? And composing and theory?" That was rather common, nothing out of the ordinary in Japan. He could have sworn two roommates ago, that was what his first year roommate was there for. Maybe his first year roommate was less talented than this Michio. Even if he was calm and reserved, he had this air around him that Tsukino couldn't exactly pinpoint, and that was saying a lot considering Tsukino was golden at reading people.

Is that why you like Tatsuya? Because you've felt pain too? Tsukino abruptly stopped himself, his thoughts, his body movements. "Well, that's rather noble. I bet we even have the same taste in music too. I'm the same way." He chuckled, and when asked of his own talents, Tsukino took a deep breath, setting his hands on his lap. "No elusive mystery here. You're correct. I am here for writing and acting. I also draw a bit too, mostly manga for Tatsuya-chan, but I would have rather attended here for acting than drawing, you know?"

Tsukino observed his roommate with an intrigued gleam in his eye, clearing his throat. "Anything I should know about you before we get down to this roommates thing? Any allergies? I eat a lot of junk food and stay up a lot, so if that's a problem, I'll change easily."

Holy shit was Goro the lovechild of cocaine and Red Bull? Out of all the people he had met in the academy in his three years in Ongaku, this guy was the most energetic that he had ever met. And a drummer no less! It was like he was born for the role of a drummer; not just because he was talented, but this guy kept bouncing off the walls like a drummer slamming the drumsticks down as fast and rapidly as he could when playing on a speedy tempo. At this point Michael was worried that this guy would drink too much caffeine during the dinner and literally bounce off the walls like a Looney Toons character....Actually he probably would go Taz the Tasmanian Devil on him and create a vortex of absolute destruction.

"Um yeah...that is neat." Michael could only watch in dismay of Goro putting his clothes away sloppily. He could only imagine just sloppy his new roommate was really going to be. By god he wasn't going to clean up after him although what if Goro never decided to clean up? Would he be forced to take action and tidy the dorm room? Oh the horror!

To take that unpleasant thought off his mind he decided to change topics. "Er, did you hear that there holding a large dinner this year? It'll probably be something straight out of Harry Potter."

"Eh? What am I studying? O-Oh, I'm studying singing and guitar!"

The few seconds that had lasted between Paris' question and Tatsuya's answer seemed like hours. Mostly because Paris was albeit a bit nervous about offending her new room mate. She had gotten lucky last year after all with the mute artist she was paired with. Tatsuya was definitely not mute.

Nodding at the girl's answer, Paris gave a small cheeky grin and plopped down on her bed- mirroring what Tatsuya was doing. Quickly she pulled her legs up underneath her before being spoken to again.

"And I know why you're here! Aren't you some piano prodigy or something? I read that you were!"

Paris cringed as her eyes widened, "Oh! I'm no prodigy!" she exclaimed, her hands waving in front of her declining the compliment. She felt very far from the 'prodigy' category, even though she was being a bit modest. "I am enrolled here for piano though- classical." she added, trying to sound not too pretentious.

Staring back at her was a huge grin. Paris was frankly terrified. "Hey, they're having a big dinner to welcome all the newbies this year, and if you don't already know someone here, you should sit with my friends and me! They'd be glad to have you." Tatsuya said as a matter of fact. Paris had been attending the academy since last year and had eagerly attended the dinner her first time. She had made no type of friends since. "I-I would like that." Paris replied, nodding her head as her bright eyes creased joyfully. She hoped Tatsuya wasn't inviting her because she felt bad for.

There was no real surprise that Tatsuya had already made friends too.

Paris stared quietly as Tatsuya drifted off into another world, one Paris knew quite well- as the sparkle in her eye twinkled just right. Paris lifted a dainty hand to her lips and giggled softly, not wanting to bother the girl too much. Slipping off her bed she started taking the rest of her clothes and items and putting them in the appropriate drawers.
